Sure :] Cameron (right) is a barista living in her hometown with her younger sister she and is not thrilled about any of these things. Ari (left) writes articles about paranormal/hokey true crime stuff for a buzzfeed-knockoff type of website after quitting her phd. Theyre both mid-20s and also both gay but Cameron is very closeted
Ari's phd program was in vertebrate evolution, specifically feline phylogenetics, which segues into my worldbuilding that I've also wanted to talk about lol. All the characters in this world are based on cats from subfamily Felinae – basically all small wildcats combined into one sapient species instead of humans. The characters I've designed so far are inspired by specific cats (Cameron is based on a serval and Ari on a pampas cat) but I'm not trying to stick too closely to that since they're all meant to be the same species from a worldbuilding perspective. No domestic cats (furry or animal) but regular big cats are still a thing, basically akin to great apes vs humans. Anthropomorphic cougars and cheetahs are a thing but are extinct, like extinct hominids. Basically my effort to shove cats into a human evolution parallel lol
#this sounds boring but just know that I am withholding kind of the most important part and premise of the story LOL#the worldbuilding aspect is plot relevant also at least from a conceptual perspective#ask#aerielart#oc: ari#oc: cameron#from a technical perspective pulling designs from multiple cat species helps with more design variation#which I liken to how humans are extremely phenotypically diverse esp with a relative lack of genetic diversity compared to other species

however i will say there's another thing i really like abt him:
his Range!
he has a v flexible face.. even with his neutral expression, you cant help but read a tinge of melancholy/pensiveness to it.
he deters people from getting too comfortable with him by acting crude, but no matter how unapproachable he looks you can't help but wonder if he's ok. seems like he's never content with himself.
just like karkat, anger gives him purpose = something to care about & react to. without it he can appear aimless/uncertain.
it's especially interesting when you compare him to aradia, who despite having endured a lot of shit, ends up enjoying the freedom of expanding her worldview, riding the unpredictable tide of the narrative and observing the changes. sollux... doesn't.
he doesn't like watching major things progress in a way he can't predict. the lack of certainty actually overwhelms him.
and it's pretty clear why; imagine the only reassurance you get after unknowingly killing ur gf is that "it needed to happen". the only way to appease that sort of emotional turmoil is by intellectualizing those events as inevitable and out of your control.

when you’re just a tool for the author, trying to sit out is just feeble self-preservation until you’re needed again. if you’re not called on stage to help/assist in some way, it feels like your presence spells doom (either you or someone else will get hurt). so you avoid Events as best you can.

It feels weird to go over to someone’s house just break up with them. But we’re supposed to go to a semi fancy dinner tomorrow night and I think it would be worse to do it after that (or during it 😬) so here we are.
I just really wanted it to work but it’s making me so sad. We just don’t have an emotional connection or really any emotional intimacy at all. And it sucks because the physical connection was so great and he was nice and tried so hard but we aren’t best friends and so it just doesn’t work. I’ve been waffling on this for so long but it’s past time to rip off the band aid. Sigh

#there’s something really funny about Geto conceptually having raised the kids in his care better than Gojo#for a bunch of reasons#like I get there are other factors#but the only drawback to being with Geto was apparently the racism#meanwhile Megumi and Tsumiki got whatever you’d call their lot#comedic fr#the Habaras seem to like Geto too meanwhile you already know Gojo hates that Megumi doesn’t like acknowledging him#his own fault for being annoying but like. that’s hilarious#Geto didn't even make the girls racist im pretty sure they're fine with human things so that's hardly a downside.#also funny in jjk is that the jujutsu society is corrupt and wants them dead but Gojo is the one who stays and follows the rules#while Geto is the one who left. but instead of it being for a good moral reason like you’d expect from early flashbacks#it’s because he’s decided to start killing humans#he could’ve just stuck to that first village but nah has to kill all the humans now#‘sounds like a better plan than any’ says man who hasn’t slept in 3 days#Gojo stayed behind but also refused to do anything about criminal Geto indefinitely which is extra funny#why are they like that#jjk
