between this new obsession and the payment of the motorcycle (hopefully next month), plus the licence for it (hopefully this month), my savings are really not saving

Firstly thank you both, everyone who lends a hand on it works very hard on it, we know its not for everyone but hey as long as you are enjoying the story that's perfect!

As for the art stuff- I can't exactly tell you how to be “good” cuz “good" is subjective especially with art, can give you tips for improving what you already have though.

1: Baseline never compare yourself to others just as a rule of thumb, be inspired sure but don't compare cuz everyone is on their own path and develops on their own time comparing will only get you frustrated with yourself.

2: If you are stuck don't be afraid to ask for help/crit, a second pair of eyes might be able to see things you can't, not everyone is great at GIVING crit but usually if you ask other artists they can give you some tools to help.

3: Find something you really like and just keep drawing it, draw as much of it as you want for as long as you want, eventually you will improve but you have to keep going. Art is like a muscle- it's literally built off muscle memory- gotta work it out for it to get stronger.

4: Do studies! Lots of studies! If there is a texture you want to master, find a bunch of images of that texture and try to replicate it. If there is a pose or body type you want to learn how to draw, find a bunch of references and break it down into stuff like simple shapes and lines. Study your fave artists style, see what their line weight is like, what brushes they use, what shapes and colors they enjoy, how they shade, lil quirks of their style and then practice by trying to draw your own character with all those aspects.

Pretty much all artists get inspired by others, all styles are a mix of something an artist likes and wants to incorporate into their own work. We are kinda like lil magpies that see something shiny and go ohhh I like that I'm gonna nab this one part and do my own spin on it. Sooner or later you get a blend of every piece of inspo with your own personal flair cuz every style is unique in its own way. The more you draw all of these blended things the more you settle into your OWN style.

#hopefully thats a good balance of like actual tools for improvement and just mentally good things to just remember #might not work for everyone but these are the things i found most important/ helpful personally #can not stress enough the comparing part that is gonna be the DEATH of your self esteem #get inspired never compare art is not a competition #references are also not a crutch #i always have two windows open in clip studio one side is just a collage of refs the other is the actual art im working on #yeah try drawing a bicycle without any reference see what happens lol (thats from one of my professors who wanted to prove a point)#no one could draw a bicycle despite all of us seeing bikes every day chained to the bike racks outside the building #ask #art tips #clock rambles #long post

#this is about #Frankenstein #again #classic lit #sorry but it's nearly 5:30 am and im biting and screaming about the whole Prometheus business #and how much it FITS BUT ALSO DOESN'T #Victor WISHES he had a modecum of Prometheus's swag #but in a non joking way -> It makes sense he uses Prometheus as a descritor for what he's doing. creating a man and all #and dramatic irony dictates that it also fits in the sense that he ends up tortured #but Victor lacks the one thing that made Prometheus's fate tragic #that being the love for his creation(s) . Prometheus made humans and cared for them so much that he went against the god of gods #to give them fire when he saw them struggle in the cold #and wound up paying a heavy price for that good deed #Victor made a man and cast him out INTO the cold the moment he realised the creation wasn't the ideal thing he hoped it would be #Adam is fitting for the creature because Victor by all accounts acts more like god than Prometheus #but point is his fate is as hand made as his creature. a result of choices based on bad assumptions he refuses to ever acknowledge as wrong #compared to prometheus his losses are kind of. well you know the tripping over own bike with a stick meme #anyway disclaimer pls don't take this that seriously as a text analysis- again this is just my 5 am brain going crazy

Explaining my vision in my bad eye is difficult because when most people think of bad vision, they think it’s blurry. But it’s not blurry at all, or at least not that I can tell. The nerves in my right eye don’t connect properly to my brain. Looking through my bad eye, it’s like… hm. You ever try that trick to see your blind spot, and the thing you’re looking at just disappears from existence? It’s all like that, in random spots of my vision. I can’t draw it because it’s impossible to depict literal nothing. Not white space, not black space, nothing. Like if you tried to look out the back of your head.

If I close my good eye, I can see there is text on the screen, but it fades in and out of existence as I move my head, and it’s never fully there-there’s certainly not enough of it to read. And I have almost no peripheral vision on my right side, it’s just not a thing.

Deeply pissed off by accusatory and condescending ask. You're free to correct me but not lecture me. I'm a person with triggers too. Entirely too exhausted to even figure out what you're saying with two essay length asks that equate mental illness stigma with genocidal colonization and also acting like my mutual doesn't have schizophrenia themselves. Please unfollow if you can't explain things without sending me condescending missives about how you're disappointed in me and I should know better and I post "deeply harmful" tags. I am too busy scraping the bottom of the barrel to live up to whatever standards of moral social justice behaviour you think I should follow. I am also utterly traumatized by my 17 years in the psychiatric complex, I am also in a mental health crisis and struggling with bipolar. Neither I nor my OCD appreciate it.
