Mercurius Pretty is a long forgotten life simulation game originally launched on the PC9801 in 94. The entirely redesigned and expanded Dreamcast edition, dubbed 'End of the Century', contained a 40 page booklet with designs from the many artists invited to reimagine it.

The game revolves around the raising of an homunculus/fairy inside a glass vat at a laboratory by a disciple of master alchemist Paracelsus. Other than the simulation elements of the original, all-new characters and adventure components were added for the Dreamcast edition.

Although the similarities with Princess Maker are readily evident, the game was actually produced by Tohiro Tsuchiya, an ex-COMPAC staff member previously involved in the creation of the genre's less celebrated precursor, the superb PC98/X6800 Production Manager from 1989.

While Mercurius Pretty and its artwork mean very little to me, I found it to be a cut above your average bishōjo. Shauna has killed and eaten Jackie so many times. She puts Jackie's necklace on the girls they sacrifice. Jackie loved rabbits and Shauna kills and eats rabbits repeatedly in her adult life. She has wanted Jackie forever and will never stop wanting. Jackie has consumed Shauna's whole entire existence- she has created a family and a home reflective of Jackie, keeps her clothes and the journals describing her locked away in a closet just for herself to indulge in- and so Shauna will never stop consuming her spirit back. Shauna butchers the girls because she wants to take apart Jackie. Shauna sleeps with Jeff because she wants to sleep with Jackie. Rabbit is to the body of Jackie the way bread is to the body of Christ. Jackie's corpse was gone in one night, but Shauna has never stopped eating her.

valentines day au headcanons:

rutger x ryleigh

rutger has to head to class early, so he leaves ryleigh at home asleep, but he has a day full of surprises set up for her

first she gets flowers delivered to her at home

then she gets her favorite coffee and scone delivered to her at her doctors appointment while shes getting chemo

she then goes on a shopping trip with ellen and rutger sneaks into the house after practice and decorates her room and gets ready for there date tonight

jj x adam

adam plans a whole day!

in the morning adam gets her, her go to stray hen order

then they go to jj's rehab together

adam takes them to detroit where they go shopping and get a nice dinner and he surprises her with a hotel room

he gets the room decorated and makes sure that there's a nice large bathtub so that jj can take a bath (he's sad that he can't cause of his stitches) but he makes sure to sit beside her

maybe they get matching valentines day pj sets

so much chocolate is consumed

they def watch sappy romcoms

margo x dylan

margo wakes up to her ENTIRE living room filled with flowers from dylan and flowers from joe and her brothers too!

dylan goes to practice then drives down to oxford surprises margo at her last class of the day and takes her to dinner in cincinatti

she is so happy that he's there

but then he has to drive back to aa and it's a very sad goodbye

she wakes up the next morning to a little basket in front of her door that says i love having someone that makes saying goodbye so hard. take care of yourself and treat yourself to a self-care night tonight on me <3 i love you - dyl

well nora's still too young to understand valentines day

but quinn made it his mission to make sure that nora knows how she is supposed to be treated.

he also makes sure to have her make a card for ellen a week prior so that he can mail it and it will arrive when the flowers they picked out together get there

Whumpee is used to being "comforted" by the Whumper after punishments, being held, stroking their hair, kissing their head, etc. All of this is while the Whumper explains what they did wrong to get said punishment, sometimes the Whumpee dissociates during this time. There was also a thin layer of threats, back rubs that rub too hard against injuries, their hair being pulled to draw their attention back to them, and etc.

The Whumpee is unsure how to get comforted without being punished first, which meant they had to do something wrong. They don't want to be punished, but they want to be comforted, but being comforted and cuddled is scary too.

So when Caretaker comforts them after a nightmare, they were confused and scared, not sure what they did wrong and Caretaker isn't telling them. They were also confused why the cuddling wasn't hurting. Most touch hurts. Caretaker explains that this was normal to comfort someone you love and that hurting someone you love isn't normal.

Whumpee isn't sure what exactly they mean. One day they will, but trauma doesn't go away that easily and Caretaker will be with them every step of the way.

I really love this! Lots and lots of great ideas, and plenty of room for interesting character interaction.

Perhaps every time Whumper tried to "comfort" Whumpee, Whumpee attempted to push away. Now they do the same to a worrisome Caretaker.

Caretaker embracing Whumpee, pulling away to see a tear stained face and flustered entity before them

Caretake accidently whispers a catchphrase from Whumper, sending Whumpee into a hysterical mess

Whumpee getting into more trouble, having a skewed perception of how love works

Whumper being able to make an easy comeback due to how manipulated Whumpee is

Caretaker watching their rehabilitation to someone they care for so dearly being reversed before their very eyes

More things that Whumper does for "comforting"

Gentle touching, but directly against wounds

Delicately smearing Whumpee's own blood across their skin

Tilting Whumpee's chin to make perfect eye contact

Singing/whistling soothingly as they approach when finished

Slowly transition smoothly between whumping to comforting, giving Whumpee even less distinction between what is going on

Aggressive massage

Backhanded compliments

Tight hugs and embraces, hands directly placed in uncomfortable spots or wounds

I'm currently at a blank for stuff to add to Caretaker, and the asks basically provided everything I think is needed.
