Are there any specific moments for Quinn, Jack and Luke where the realize how much Ryleighs treatments are impacting her during the summer? Or maybe how much she relies on Rutger to get around or how much Rutger follows her around.
luke looks at his sister who's laying on the couch. face pale and hands shakey as she brings a saltine bracket to her chapped lips,
"please try some gatorade," rutger mumbles as he kneels in front of his girlfriend gently holding out the red drink,
"no," rutger frowns pushing ryleighs hair back. luke jumps when a hand lands on his shoulder. he looks at his brother,
"lukey whats up?" jack asks shaking his youngest brother,
"oh i uh-" luke looks back towards the couple frown deepening, "just- shes really sick," jack follows his brothers line of sight,
"yah well obviously," jack says sassily. luke sighs rolling his eyes,
"jack." luke snaps,
"right yah sorry," the middle child grumbles looking at the couple as well, "its just hard," luke nods in agreement and the two stand there for an undetermined amount of time, watching as ryleigh and rutger whisper to each other and ryleighs bottle of gatorade and bowl of crackers slowly decreasing.
"what are you two creeps doing?" quinn asks pushing his way through the pair,
"sh," jack hushes grabbing the eldest hughes, "were just observing them," jack gestures to the living room, "lukey was talking about how he didn't notice how sick she actually was, and well..." jack looks back towards the living room, "mcgroarty is really stepping up," quinn turns his attention to his baby sister head tilting as he takes in the scene,
"yah he really has,"

Ok she thinks it wasn't worth it to stay for her he should have gone. It became a screaming match and he ended up saying I can't almost lose u again. You almost died in my arms I can't go through that while I'm away in a different country. I wouldn't be able to live with myself
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE STAYING?" ryleigh screams at her boyfriend from her bed,
"ry-" rutger tries,
"NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT! YOU COULD GO BE IN THE PLAYOFFS YOU COULD--"
"DO YOU NOT GET IT?" rutger yells back causing ryleigh to freeze, "YOU DIED RYLEIGH IN MY FUCKING ARMS! FOR TWO MINUTES! I CAN'T LEAVE YOU RYLEIGH I FUCKING CANT!" rutger chokes on a sob,
"oh," ryleigh says, "oh i didn't-"
"i cant leave you," rutger sobs from the ground,
"god rutger please get up," ryleigh begs from her bed, "baby i cant get up please," she pleads as she tries to will herself out of her bed.
finally shes in front of her boyfriend,
"god rutger," she says falling to her knees in front of him, "rutger please," she grabs her boyfriend pulling him into her chest, "please breath baby please,"
ryleigh loses track of time as she holds onto her boyfriend,
"shhhh," ryleigh coos, "shhhh rut its ok shhh,"

cole x sienna
sienna is prepping for the womens frozen four!
adam is going to new Hampshire with his mom and dad to watch
the plan is to watch sienna's game on friday, fly to michigan watch luca Saturday then back to new Hampshire on Sunday (if OSU wins on Friday)
her and cole are dancing around each other
and when adam tries to talk to either of them he gets a,
"mo i have to focus on school and hockey. anyway silly is just a friend,"
or, "adam i don't have time for this. i need to focus on hockey and my play,"

shes still getting minor chemo treatment, but everythings looking good

fall ‘22 - meet at yost
ryleigh goes for a late night skate, needing to clear her mind, and rutger’s there to blow off steam
rutger has no idea who she is, but starts to notice that shes at games and that sometimes she’ll be on the ice with luke
assumes shes lukes girlfriend
late first semester freshman year ‘22
ryleigh opens up to rutger and he confides in her about things, and when he starts to fall for her he has to ask if shes dating luke so that he doesn't get killed and well turns out he'll get killed anyway cause luke is her brother.
late second semester freshman year ‘23
start dating
rutgers there for her when luke leaves and the emotions she feels having her brother basically ripped from her

goes to st.louis for the regionals
not feeling great but goes and surprises rutger
finally after a long hard day rutger and ellen manage to get ryleigh to the hospital
where she finds out her cancer is back and bad

ryleigh smiles as she walks into the kitchen,
"morning!" she says happily,
"hey," jack grumbles into his cereal. ryleigh frowns but hides it by turning to the fridge,
"what are you guys doing today?" she asks hoping to get a more excited response,
"skate with dad then probs go out on the boat," ryleigh bites her lip as she closes the fridge and tears fill her eyes,
"oh," she mumbles, "well i also have ice time, but don't have anything else going on," she takes a deep breath turning towards her second oldest brother,
"sounds good," jack says sipping his coffee.
the whole day continues like this. even when luke, quinn, trevor, cole, and everyone else come down.
not a single person had wished her a happy birthday. ellen and jim had surprised her after her skate, with some cupcakes, but the boys were already gone.
and when she arrived back at the house with the cupcakes there is still no realization so she goes up to her room, and calls rutger in tears,
"happy birthday baby!" he says causing her to sob,
"they forgot rut they all forgot!" she cries.
"oh darling," rutger coos, "what can i do?"
"i dont know," she sobs. rutger sighs,
"how about you get dolled up and we go to detroit? do some shopping and get a nice dinner," ryleigh sniffles,
"you'd do that?" rutger nods,
"of course baby. so go get ready and I'll make my way to you ok?" ryleigh smiles nodding as she wipes her tears and snot,
"thank you rog," rutger blows her a kiss,
"anytime baby girl,"
meanwhile downstairs the boys are devouring the cupcakes ryleigh left on the counter,
"do you feel like were forgetting something?" quinn asks looking at his brothers,
"no?" luke says eyebrows furrowing as he stuffs a cupcake into his mouth. quinn sighs pulling his phone out frowning at it,
"i just feel like something- is- shit fuck," the eldest hughes realizes, "shit it's ryleighs birthday," jack and luke's heads snap up,
"what?" jack asks,
"its her fucking birthday," quinn says again, "we forgot her birthday fuck," he looks at the clock, "fuck and it's to late to do anything. god why didn't she sway anything?" quinn frantically stands and runs upstairs.
where he runs into his sister as she comes down the stairs,
"ry oh my god," ryleigh looks at her oldest brother and shakes her head,
"don't please-" she pleads, "i'm going to spend my birthday with my boyfriend, who actually cares to remember it," she snaps.
"your what?"
"my boyfriend," she says before walking out the door a loud click resounding through the front foyer.

Ryleigh only decides to go if Rutger goes with her and he does that’s when they find out the news
rutger holds ryleighs hand through the whole thing
the blood draws, mri and ct scan he's waiting right outside the door. her getting admitted into the hospital. all of it
he, ellen and jim take shifts so that ryleighs never alone, jj even coming when she can.
she gets told that her cancer has returned but this time its in her lymph nodes and blood, and spreading rapidly
and rutger feels his heart shatter as ryleigh stares at the doctor before emptying her stomach into the bedpan in front of her.
rutger almost breaks down hearing the doctor go over the treatment plan. talking them through the aggressive amounts of chemo ryleigh will have to deal with.
the severe side effects that come with the treatment, and how weak she will become

Is there anything Rytger does after Ry does that makes him feel close to her still? Like going to certain places and just sitting, or changing his orders to whatever she would order at restaurants?
so ryleigh would always bring a pillow pet to skating competitions so that she could nap between performances and practices
the thing is gross; there's foundation and lipstick stains; dried puke from when luke got car sick
but she hasn't gotten rid of it. its her competition comfort item
so just before rutger left for the frozen four today she gave it to him,
"because i cant be their," she whispers,
"ry i-" but she shakes her head,
"no take it please. i- i need you to have it," rutger frowns at the tears in ryleighs eyes,
"ok ok," rutger says softly reaching up to cup her cheek, "don't cry ill take it ok?" ryleigh nods sniffling,
"thank you,"
and after that rutger takes it on every road trip; even in the NHL even when ryleigh is in remission

Maybe something where all the boys choose a different book series to read to Ryleigh when she can no longer stand another ounce of TV? maybe some arguments over who get harry potter and the chronicles of narnia or Rutger walking in on Luke reading something steamy to his sister and him wanting to burn his ears off. idk.
omg im so glad! im planning on working on adam and jj's tonight and hopefully gavin and munchkins as well!!!
maybe ryleigh gets nauseous when looking at screens or books too long because of her chemo, plus the dyslexia doesn't help.
so she gets luke to read the off campus series to her and rutger walks in and is like ???!!!!
and poor luke is so alarmed but ryleigh wont let him stop because she'll just look at him with a pout,

after a rough treatment day, I can totally see rutger saying this to ry
“Hey. Please look at me? You did so good; I’m so proud of you.”
ryleigh couldnt help the tears that begin to fall as she brushes her hair before bed.

"how was treatment?" he asks softly. immediately noticing how tired and worn out his girlfriend looks. ryleigh shrugs,
"just the usual. how was your day? practice?" rutger goes on to tell ryleigh about his classes and the antics the boys got up to today, but as he talks he notices his girlfriends head bobbing, clearly struggling to stay awake,
"ry," rutger says softly, "sweetheart, you're tired. go to sleep, ill be here when you wake up," ryleigh frowns,

"im not going anywhere promise," ryleigh nods but scooches over eyes pleading,
