𝟭. my notepad ( 📱 )
i take very messy notes, especially when the professor speaks fast and i have to write in a hurry. many note-taking apps allow you to record the teacher's voice, so you can listen back to the lesson when you reorganize your notes at home. the notepad allows me to write pages and pages without wasting paper.
𝟮. charger ( 🔌 )
i often spend 9 or 10 hours at university and i can't risk one of my devices running out of battery. with a charger always in my bag i never risk finding myself unable to use my phone or notepad.
𝟯. water bottle ( 🍶 )
it is important to stay hydrated during the day, especially if you spend a lot of time at university. i recommend always having a two-liter water bottle available, especially during long lessons that require concentration.
𝟰. snacks/lunch ( 🍲 )
preparing healthy meals for lunch improves not only your health, but also your productivity and concentration during lessons. having snacks high in phosphorus and magnesium to consume throughout the day will prevent you from consuming junk food from vending machines. ( + don't forget chewing gums !! )
𝟱. hygiene bag ( 🌷 )
i'll make a specific post for this.
𝟲. umbrella ( ☂️ )
i admit i'm terrible at this because I always forget my umbrella. i'm lucky enough to live near the university, so i walk there, but it becomes a real problem when it starts raining and i have to run home in the rain. so always carry a small pocket umbrella in your bag, i suggest it from experience.
𝟳. books ( 📚 )
it may seem strange but i don't use books at university. many of the lessons in architecture are practical and we do not follow specific textbooks for the theoretical lessons (the professors prefer to provide us with materials and use powerpoints), but it depends on the faculty you attend, your study method and the teaching method of your professor.

Episode 13: Lilliputian Hitcher
#evangelion#ritsuko akagi#misato katsuragi#nge#the Eva episode of all time#the juxtaposition of Misato and Ritsuko arguing about how the handle the angel in the previous scene to them together here#Like Misato calls Ritsuko out for never relying on anyone or asking for help in the last scene and in this scene Misato is helping Ritsuko#the implication being that Ritsuko does ask Misato to help her or Misato forced her way in and Ritsuko let her join her in MAGI#the close proximity in a cramped space that is essentially the soul/brain of your mother#the two of them working in tandem with Misato reminiscing on their college years years#ritsuko answering misatos questions and willingly devulging likely classified information is in sharp contrast to the coming episodes#the entire scene feels very intimate and is a great look at their relationship when they don’t have to have their walls up#neon genesis evangelion#this single Misato and Ritsuko moment is better and more showing of their relationship than the entirety of their interactions in the#rebuilds

There's such an interesting cyber-anthropological phenomenon in feeling a communal pressure to act a certain way, or use the platform a certain way, when joining a new online space. Not in terms of the types of opinions or political views that are deamed acceptable, but in terms of specifics of etiquette and posting formats.
Making a Tumblr post that sounds "like a Twitter user" is met with scorn or derision a lot of the time. And when asking someone why they react like that, typically the answer is some form of "that kind of comedy doesn't work here" or "it doesn't sound right to post like that on this website", which is essentially just "it doesn't fit with the traditions I learned in this specific place".
I will always find the ways social media platforms evolve naturally like societies interesting.
#text#random thought#before i withdrew from college (isolation and quarantine was killing me) i was writing my thesis on cyber anthropology#which is the fastest growing and most overlooked branch of anthropology#my thesis wasnt specifically about this#it was about the essential archival of information regarding internet societies#specifically putting forward the somewhat radical idea that any internet society with more than 100 people should have an archivist#and any group with more than 1000 should have a dedicated historian to track the history of the group and its culture#honestly twitter culture should have literal books written archiving and documenting the many things that happen in my opinion#sounds silly but it is a pillar of our current international society's communication#this is what i think at least

What would your video essais be about if you get to do videos?
I have a dream research project about the way the architecture of places of worship influence the mind and reflect the view of God (a là Ficthe's ''religion is reverse anthropology'' and Weber's sociology of religion but specifically about architecture) and what that means for the current era of megachurches in America, and I have longed for that to be a video essay for a full year now but I can't commit to making it
#essentially it would be philosophy mixed with history and social sciences#Philosophytube... 2 (this is a joke I am nowhere near as good as Abigale in any field related to video essaying)#I do have a growing bibliography about this very topic I mention tbf but in order to do it justice I'd have to make interviews to people#and ask them about their own feelings about their architecture and their god(s)#and. That is a full research project and I am 1. in college and 2. In my rereads of Memoirs of a Geisha (Id read it first when I was a teenager, before i knew the author had stolen the life story of Mineko Iwasaki) I'd realized just how misogynist the story is. One of the glowing reviews of the book is that the author was praised for writing such an "accurate" and sensitive portrayal of a female character, but then all her relationships with women are portrayed as catty & negative while all her most positive relationships are with men that she looks on fondly, even when theyve been nothing but shitty to her. All the women in her life are either abusive bullies from the start, or good ones that turn sour where they betray her in some way, & her whole sphere of women is just catty & superficial & mean.
& Golden even wrote in negative relationships where in Iwasaki's life (the source that he was stealing from), they were POSITIVE ones for her
#her sister abandons her & never looks for her#her Geisha family are abusive & only care how much money she brings in#Pumpkin has every reason to hate her but is portrayed as mean & ends up betraying her#Golden also does this really weird thing where he says that Sayuri was essentially 'sold' into slavery (being a Geisha) by her father#but thats clearly not what happened. dude her father was old & instead of leaving his daughter orphaned he set her up for life#he essentially sent her to college with free rent & a job garuanteed if she did well & then a wealthy patron to pay her#orientalism#i reread it to compare to Mineko Iwasaki's memoir & its just SO obvious that he stole from her

ok i gotta go brush my teeth but first apropos of nothing i just want to say that like. personally i'm still full of love for blaseball and fics i want to write about blaseball. and based on my past track record (wrote steven universe fic for like 3 years after it ended) (wrote homestuck fic for also like 3 years after finishing homestuck, maybe more) (gonna finish this night vale fanfic i've been writing for 3 years someday so help me god) i think i could keep writing about blaseball for a very long time. but . but. the strength of one fan alone cannot keep a fandom alive. listen to me. i am taking your face gently in my hands if you are okay with that. if you want blaseball fandom to stay alive you have to go in the blaseball tag and reblog stuff. if you want there to keep being blaseball fics you have to go check ao3 and comment on what's there. possibly even add some yourself. with our powers combined i can believe we can drag out blaseball's existence to the same comical/tragic extent we dragged out jessica telephone's. obviously nothing will last forever but i think we can still make it last a little longer. if we want it.
