Azi’s Zim is Disabled Essay

So there are a lot of different interpretations about Zim being defective that exist. There are a lot of interpretations about what it means to be defective in the first place. I would like to propose that being defective, not only relates to neurodivergence and “non-desirable” behavior (anything that goes against the Irken regime) but also certain physical disabilities, in specific chronic illnesses.

I would like to draw a line here because I firmly believe that the Irken Empire would not give a shit about limb differences. They are technologically advanced (even if their technology is mostly stolen from other species) so, to them, it would be entirely cosmetic and one could simply get cybernetics. However, a problem with the body’s systems cannot be as easily addressed. Thus, Irkens with conditions, like these would be considered defective. Due to their condition, they cannot contribute in the same way as others if they can contribute at all. They would be considered a liability. That’s right, the space fascists are probably also eugenicists (shocking no one). I mean seriously, that’s pretty easy to see. They literally genetically engineer their own people to near perfection.

The only way for a genetic issue like this to happen with the way smeets are made would be because of some kind of cloning error. Anyone reading this probably knows that a popular headcanon about Zim is that he is the product of some kind of cloning error. This is a headcanon that I agree with. So, if Zim is the product of a cloning error what saying that he doesn’t have some kind of invisible disability like a chronic illness.

Putting the lore side, when you look at the Irken Empire, as a satirical representation of America, its greed, its disregard for citizens, and its imperialism, having Zim be disabled makes thematic sense. Zim is actively disregarded by and pushed out of Irken society, many people tend to interpret this as Zim being autistic or another neurodivergent parallel, which I agree with. However, why not take this a step further, why not make a Zim physically disabled?

The closest thing within fandom spaces that I’ve seen to interpreting Zim as disabled, is making Zim autistic or deaf/hard of hearing. However, when this is written it usually has little to no bearing on the plot of whatever is being written. It is almost always a superficial detail of some kind like the occasional mention of Zim having a hard time hearing something, not understanding subtext, or wearing a hearing aid.

I don’t think this is a problem within the Invader Zim fandom; I am well aware that there is just not much fic about disabled characters in which they are actively discussed as being disabled or their disability is important to the plot in some way. I am not blaming anyone for this issue, it’s just the fact that not many people write disabled characters. I think this problem mostly comes from the fact that people are scared of messing it up. Quick message: if you think that you have a good writing idea that involves a disabled character, make sure you do your research, but fucking write it! Even if they aren’t anywhere close to implied to being disabled in canon. What is the point of fanfiction if not to give fans the space to interpret the character however they please?

Apologies for the tangent but it was important. I’m going to shift the topic a bit, onto examining a symptom of chronic illness that I see in Zim within the canon. Specifically, I think that it explains one of the main inconsistencies in Zim’s character.

Many people including myself have noticed the fact that Zim is simultaneously very smart, but also very incompetent at times. This seems to be a contradiction because someone as smart as he is shown to be, logically, shouldn’t be making some of the mistakes that he does within the canon. And I have a plausible solution to this: brain fog. Brain fog is an overarching name for a collection of symptoms that includes an inability to focus and concentrate, confusion, unusually inhibited logic skills, feeling disoriented, as well as trouble remembering and comprehending information. If Zim was intermittently experiencing these symptoms, the inconsistency of him being simultaneously a genius and on many occasions almost completely incompetent would be explained. Brain fog is a symptom of a lot of different things, personally, I interpret it as chronic pain and immunodeficiency for my Zim headcanons and my AU.

Being able to deep dive into Fem Zim’s experience with her disability as she continues her story is important to me. Describing her chronic pain is important to me. Not having a fix for her condition is important to me. Having a character that is not just disabled, but who talks about their disability, has prose dedicated to their symptoms, and has it as an important part of their character building and development is something that I do not see. Let alone anyone with a similar condition to me. Zim is that character for me, whether it’s me going into specifics about Fem Zim’s symptoms within my own AU, or me as a kid, first getting into Invader Zim, and seeing so much of myself in Zim as a character.

You can interpret Zim however you want, I’m not telling you what to do. But I would like to point out that this is an entirely underutilized interpretation that in a fandom that has existed for over 20 years know I do not know of any other genuine instance of.

My only explanation for that is that y'all are cowards. /j

An echo return of past conversations

Part of the Post Florpus AU in the somewhat distant future.

Dib and Zim leave for college or something, I don’t know.

This comic is ooooooooooold. Like around two years old. I shared an preview update on my Kofi and shared with a few people in discord servers for awhile, but I never posted it publicly.

Part of the reason I held onto it for such a long time: (personal long ramblings under the cut and talk about my grief experiences.)

....was partly because I felt without context for the overall series huge chunks missing about Dib’s character development in Post Florpus and what I have planned, it would have come across as a shallow thing... Dib forgiving his Dad for being a neglectful father or something akin to that and I feared the protentional backlash something like this could have among the Invader Zim community. Since people who connect personally with that show typically all have their own issues regarding their parents. (not always but I see it very often)

And I changed the dialogue of what Dib said to his father over several times. Like “I love you” “I forgive you....” but it didn’t seem appropriate to me. Nothing felt right other than telling him that He’s proud of him in the same way that Membrane told Dib in Enter the Florpus.

And no, Dib doesn’t forgive his Dad for having a shitty neglectful childhood. Cause he was, a terrible parent, but Dib can acknowledge that his Dad is getting better... and working to improve... and knows his Dad loves him... but he also can establish boundaries and set his distance... this is the last thing Dib basically says to Membrane before he cuts him out of his life temporarily when he goes to University.

And it very personally echos the relationship that I had with my Father and Mother. There was a huge period of time where I hated my father after he passed away. For how distant he was in his parenting style and how much he left my controlling Mom to do everything. When he passed away I felt like my Mom was tighter with a leash on me, and it took a long time and therapy on both of our ends to have a healthy relationship with good boundaries.

I’m on real good terms with my Mom now and I can’t imagine a time where it was ever tense between us, and she’s really a different person then the one I grew up with. Heck, even Mom from seven years ago is a different person and was way were then. I’m glad that I can call my Mom my friend too.

I know it doesn’t always work out that way in real life for some people.... but this AU is extremely personal to me, and I like to write about my displacement in my family since my Dad died, and what happened over the years as we coped with that.

Post Florpus AU stemed from me being emotional about ETF due to my grief of losing my father and my own personal experiences with my family just struck the right chord at the right time in 2019. And that has never changed.

I drew this two years ago angry at the time... thinking that there were many things I wanted to tell my Dad. How he could have been there for Mom more when me and my sister were struggling with heavy bullying in school, how Dad could have took on more responsibilities when my Mom tried to go back to college. And how I still wanted him here.... but in retrospect, he did the best he could do at the time, knowing what he knew... as an undiagnosed autistic and everything else....

Like there’s no forgiveness of his favoritism of one child over the other and how he left Mom to do all the parenting. But I feel if he was alive in our family unit today, we’d all have a healthier family dynamic and balance. People can always change, and change every day and I personally don’t hold onto memories of people when I know every five years someone can be reborn. But the effort always needs to be there.

I don’t know. I’m rambling.

In any case, I just kept this under my belt for so long because I was worried of public perception and worrying people might judge me for “Forgiving shitty dads” or something...

Sorry to break it to you... but in this AU everyone does get better. Dib doesn’t even need to be in contact with his Dad, and he won’t for a long while until he matures more.

Forgiveness is a choice on the Membrane Sibling’s part, and sometimes, in this case... it isn’t needed. Membrane himself doesn’t even want forgiveness for his shitty parenting in the past. He just wishes for his children to grow up happy and healthy, and if they want to stay in contact with him, great, but he won’t force himself when he’s not wanted. It’s a delicate balance.... He’s not forgiven exactly, but the Siblings appreciate the effort... and they like who he is now, rather than who he was... but it will take a long time before they can have a proper adult child and parent relationship. Baby steps.

Hey guys wanna see some old ass concept art of Doomsday I made early this year?

This was the very first sketch I drew of Z. As you can see this was my first time drawing him in a long time. His round bald head scares me. You can also see the first sketch of Z’s human disguise.

Ugh this looks terrible lol 😅. In case you couldn’t tell, that’s Keef or in this AU “Keith”. Originally the artstyle was going to be very very different. I decided to go for a 90s anime artstyle later on because it’s my favorite :3

GOOOOOOOODDD. DIB WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOU. Even back then I thought this was shit. This was my first drawing of Dib and Gaz. Like I said the artstyle was REALLY different. Also this was me going through my “oh my god why the fuck am I back into this series someone fucking kill me” phase. Z looks pretty good tho, I was starting to get the hang of it.

Now THIS is cool. I love this photo. The absolute anger and hatred in Z’s face. The blood (which is supposed to be pink but I didn’t know at the time) dripping down his face as it’s boiling and blistering from his injury. It really encapsulates the feeling of “you’re fucked.”

Ah, yet another good drawing. This picture really shows this sense of dread as Z stands to choose which dog to experiment on, his shadow casting down on them. I’m pretty sure you guys know who that dog in the middle is going to be.

Spoiler alert: it’s Gir.

Oh look it’s Gir! He looks almost the same for his official design. Designing him was the hardest part for me. I was thinking: “What would a dog look like that was experiment/tortured by an murderous alien into his robot slave?” And this is what I came up with!

And lastly, this was the original design for Z.

…I’m sorry, but guys, I could easily throw down on this twink. Look at this he looks like Jose jalapeño, damn stick body. Look at his head! It looks like a booger. And looks how skinny he is. I mean, yeah, Z is supposed to look emaciated and thin because he’s an alien, his body shape is supposed look uncanny and different than ours. When you look at his official design you could at least tell he’s powerful but with this he looks like a twig. Twig Zim. Twim. Someone draw Zim as a twig PLEASE.

Well, that was all the concept art i had. I hope you all enjoyed it! I wanted to show you all something special to pass the time as I work on the comic. Still got a long way to go! but to keep it short zim crash lands on earth after escaping from the massive as one of the survivors of the irken rebellion. Dib is a burnt out college student turned rockstar that’s being used for money by his manager. So neither of them are in good spots.

Zim needs someone who can help him get in contact with his rebel forces and the resisty while on this strange planet. And Dib is looking for something new and exciting something he can focus on other that his career or his relationship with his father.

TruthShriekers AU, The Road Trip, Part 1

A train, a taxi and a few bus rides later, and Dib is the first one to reach Amity Park. He had to ask for directions a few times, but eventually, he found his way to one Wes Weston’s house, and Dib is thrilled! Since his hometown is the next stop, he’s traveling light: enough clothes for the week, his laptop, camera and as much ghost hunting gear as he could cram into the thing. And the readings he’s already collecting are promising.

But the most exciting thing? The few times he’s explained to people that he’s here for ghost hunting, no one has called him crazy for believing in ghosts. Sure, they’ve called him crazy for going after them, and none of them are fans of ghost hunters, but everyone in this town acknowledges the supernatural exists!

Wes is slightly more concerned by the unescorted child who showed up on his doorstep alone. He’d figured his dad or something would have given him a ride. Amity Park is close to Dib’s home, but it’s not that close; it’s at least a 3-4 hour drive away and in a different state. And how is this little guy such a know-it-all? As soon as he walked through the door, he started explaining ghost hunting to Wes, a lot of it wrong, like he doesn’t live in the most haunted city in America. The trip hasn’t even started yet, and this brat is insufferable.

Thankfully, the kid couldn’t monologue for long before there’s a knock at the door, and finally, April O’Neil is here! This is the person he was actually excited to meet. April has been giving Wes a ton of advice to improve his photography and journalism ever since she went to college, and they’re going to work together this summer to help develop his portfolio by making a bit of a “mockumentary” of their summer trip.

But April is a lot more… apologetic than expected. She’s already exasperated (and she hasn’t even dealt with Dib yet) while she apologizes because her dum-dum brothers went ahead and invited themselves onto their trip but she promises they’re going to pay their own way and don’t freak out because they look kind of different, but we don’t have time for that right now! Because there’s no way. There’s no freaking way! It’s been modified, but there’s nothing else it could possibly be.

Is that the Jupiter Jim Moon buggy parked in his driveway?!!

And, in fact, it is!

But there’s not much time to be surprised by the Moon Buggy, as 4 guys in full hazmat suits with quick Ghost Buster stickers slapped on pop out, and they’re… green? It’s hard to tell, but Wes is 90% sure these guys are green behind the tinted face shields. Which, honestly, not unusual for Amity Park, but they’re not usually alive when they look like that. But it’s not stopping the one in the purple jumpsuit from gushing over the modifications he’s made to what he’s calling the Turtle Tank.

Dib is slack jawed as 4 green, clearly not human, creatures pop out of the Moon Buggy while April apologizes over and over again for her brothers inviting themselves onto their trip.

“April, are you an alien?”

“What? No.”

“Were you adopted by aliens?”

“No, they’re not aliens. None of us are aliens. My brothers are just a little… different.”

Dib’s not convinced, but at the very least, these guys are a lot friendlier than Zim, and Raph, Donnie, Leo and Mikey are introduced. The original plan had been to tour FentonWorks on the first day and then explore the town, but…

Everyone suddenly has to clear the street as what looks like an armored RV zooms down the road while a guy in an orange jumpsuit screams out the window and a lady in blue fires lasers at something streaking by overhead.

Leo: And you were worried we’d stand out.

Yeah… the Fenton’s are busy today, so no tour. The gang will have to start their ghost hunting adventure by hitting the pavement, which is fine with Wes. He’s excited to show off the shoulder mount camera he got for his 16th birthday, but as usual, if it’s not a Fenton Camera, every picture and recording of a ghost comes out horribly.

After some trial, some error, and poking at some ecto-samples he probably shouldn’t have, Donnie figures out a filter for the camera (and his goggles), and the ghosts come through crystal clear. It throws off the color, but Mikey and Wes work on the color and white balance enough to look almost normal, and they save the system setting for whenever the filter is applied. With Wes armed with his camera, April with a mic, and the boys as the tech crew, it’s time to hit the streets!

It’s not long before they run into their first ghost. Wes had thought they’d film from a distance, but April and Dib jump right in and start asking questions, and in spite of Wes’s trepidations, it goes surprisingly well. The ghosts they talk to are known troublemakers, but not only are they not attacking, but they actually seem to be enjoying the attention.

Over the next few days, April gets a performance from Ember, an interview with Technus, lunch for the whole group from the Lunch Lady (her “uncle?” is a lunch lady, too?), and chased down the Box Ghost.

Wes thought things would go south with Kitty and Johnny when he started hitting on April, but 4 green brothers willing to throw hands with a ghost is apparently enough to get Johnny to stop and placate Kitty.

And it turns out ghosts are more than willing to talk about their deaths. In graphic detail. It’s more than a little disturbing, but no one was expecting Dib to just come out and ask, “How did you die?” At least none of them ended up dead.

But the neatest thing has been watching the barriers come down between everyone. All of them had been so convinced they were the only ones who were really dealing with the supernatural. They had come up with things to shield the others from the true horrors they dealt with every day. Except as soon as they see their first ghost, they can tell. They all know. And it’s kinda freeing.

None of them need to hide anymore. Wes can freely rant about all the insane ghost stuff that’s happened in his hometown. The Turtles can reveal themselves; Wes and Dib are currently fascinated by their turtle-ness and the fact that April was basically adopted by cryptids. Dib still has the least credibility; he’s a 12-year-old claiming to have gone to space multiple times, but they are at least willing to admit he’s probably dealt with some stuff.

This also means Wes is probably going to have to admit that Dib is right at some point, a fact he’s not happy about with their longstanding online feud…

And while Leo is still firmly in denial that ghosts are real (seriously?), meeting real ghosts broke down the biggest barriers, and they’ve relaxed enough to start showing their real personalities to each other. Wes and Dib end up just as snarky with each other in person as they are online. Mikey is enjoying getting to play the role of big brother with Dib, who’s just an unhinged little gremlin that really wants to dissect one of the blob ghosts (no one will let him). Raph’s big brother instincts are in full force as he tries to keep the peace between everyone, but April is firmly in charge, etc.

The week goes on, but there’s one ghost April still hasn’t managed to interview: Danny Phantom. She’s gotten plenty of opinions on the local hero/menace, but he’s yet to make an appearance.

Danny, for his part, has been keeping his distance and observing, trying to figure out what kind of ghost hunters these guys are. And so far, he’s been pleasantly surprised. Most “professional” ghost hunters that come to Amity Park are either woefully incompetent or dangerously aggressive. Or both.

But these guys have taken the time to actually study the ghosts. They take the time to ask questions. They treat the sentient ghosts like people, and they take pictures and readings from the non-sentient ones. It’s been kinda cute watching the big guy in red walk around with armloads of blog ghosts. Danny thought they’d be a lot more trouble with Wes guiding the group, but so far, so good.

But, of course, Danny’s luck has to run out, and as soon as he says that bit out loud, Skulker decides it’s the perfect time for some hunting, and the fight is a rough one.

For April and the Turtles, sounds of explosions are never a good sign, and the whole group rushes to see what’s going on, and find the elusive ghost boy, Danny Phantom, in action. Most of the civilians have already cleared out, and Donnie and Raph are keeping the rest of the damage to a minimum, so April decides to go full reporter while Wes shoots, and they get their first ghost fight on camera.

It's… intense, but not the worst any of them have seen. They’ve had to duck out of the way a few times, but they’re getting some good shots, and it seems like Phantom is mostly winning. Until Skulker slams him into the wall behind them. Danny, being Danny, forgets to phase, and hits the wall. Hard. He slides down, rings flash out from his middle, and where Phantom was, a human boy now sits.

Wes is feeling so vindicated! He’s been telling everyone Danny is Phantom for years. He just transformed in front witnesses! He caught it on tape! He can finally- hey!?

April and Donnie take the camera from him and delete Phantom’s transformation. You don’t expose another hero’s secret identity.

Raph steps between Danny and Skulker. He’s so excited to meet a real life superhero! But first things first, “Mad Dogs, time to help out a fellow hero. LIKE A BOSS!”

Disguises are doffed, and yes, they’ve still been wearing those stupid exterminator outfits the whole trip because, according to Leo, it “fit the vibe,” and the Mad Dogs start fighting, even April. It goes about as well as it usually does when they fight Ghost Bear until someone finally hits him with a mystic attack (I seriously don’t know why none of them tried it in the show), and it turns out mystic stuff works on ghost stuff.

Skulker is chased off, and then the GAV screeches to a stop in front of the group. Disguises are very, very quickly shoved back on (there may be a helmet on backwards) as the Dr.s Fenton jump out looking for Phantom. But, uh, nothing to see here! Yep, yep, he, uh, rushed off… that way? And indeed, when the group look behind them, Danny is nowhere to be seen. Wes uses his chance to finally, finally get the tour at Fenton Works rescheduled for the next day, and they all turn in to edit what they got and share their findings with Dipper over FaceTime.

Dib and Wes also need to go nuts, because that was so cool! Watching the Mad Dogs was like watching a real life Lou Jitsu movie! This is also where they find out Dib has never seen a Lou Jitsu movie in his life, which is just criminal.

The morning of their tour and first interview comes, and everyone is ready to go except HOLD EVERYTHING! The Turtles aren’t about to let April go interview the Fenton’s in her regular clothes. That was fine for field reporter April, but she can’t dress like that if she wants to be a top journalist. Dress for the job you want and all that jazz, and what do you mean you didn’t pack any nice clothes?! What were you expecting to wear when we get to Membrane Labs?! She needs a makeover, stat!

Luckily, they’re able to find a petite yellow suit top and matching pencil skirt at the local thrift store (one of the many, many things Pam tried to get Sam to wear). Mikey and Leo do her hair and makeup, and now they’re ready for the tour.

As they pull up, the Fenton’s greet them outside. They’re always so excited to see young people interested in pursuing paranormal research. The tour starts upstairs in the Ops Center, and other than the emergency ham being expired, everything seems pretty impressive. The Fenton’s go into detail on all the features of the Ops Center, answer any engineering questions the group have, let Wes record and photograph, etc.

Then they continue their way downstairs to tour the lab. They see Danny in passing on the second story, and Raph less than subtly waves. Fortunately for Danny, his parents are pretty oblivious and miss the wave. Unfortunately, they do spot Danny, and he gets dragged into helping with the tour, and the group follows Jack and Maddie down into the basement lab.

It. Is. Horrendous. It’s one thing to leave parts and pieces out while you’re building something; even Donnie is occasionally guilty of that. He can also understand the amount of stuff held together by string and duct tape. He knows how difficult it can be to get parts and pieces, but he his lab pristine! This is just a mess. There’s dirty beakers and tools, cross contamination abounds, and the floor is covered in spilled samples and ectoplasm with nary a wet floor sign in sight. Even Mikey is offended; he keeps a clean kitchen.

And why is there a torture chamber?!!

To make it even worse, down in the lab is where the Fentons start going into their beliefs about ghosts. They’re evil. They’re just manifestations of ectoplasmic energy and post-human consciousness. They aren’t actually capable of rational thought or feelings. Things that go against everything the group has observed in the last few days. Even Dib has to disagree with what they’re saying.

Everyone can see that Danny is visibly uncomfortable. And then it gets worse; they start talking about how they want to catch and dissect the ghost boy.

Yeah… Wes is starting to get that outing Danny to the town and his parents might not be the best idea.

But April is a good reporter, and she wants to be a great reporter. The best reporter. Her original question list goes out the window and she starts pushing back against everything the Fentons are saying, but they just brush it off in their usual good natured way. After all, they’re just kids. They don’t know any better.

Well, that interview was… disappointing to say the least. Danny catches them outside and- Is that the Jupiter Jim Moon Buggy?!! Wait, no, he came out here for a reason! He wanted to thank them for standing up for him. Most ghost hunters shoot first and only ask questions on the autopsy table.

April convinces Danny to give her the much desired interview. No questions he’s not comfortable with, nothing about his identity. He agrees, and the next day, he meets them with Sam and Tucker in tow as his “bodyguards” for his interview. It includes a lot of snark from Wes, who is still vindicated! but April gets all her questions answered.

And the interview just sort of turns into a conversation. Danny and the Mad Dogs had never met other heroes before, and they talk about the troubles that come with it. The time they were both seen as menaces, and Danny uses the opportunity to set the record straight, even if no one will ever hear it. He talks about how much he’s had to learn on his own, about the mistakes he’d made, and after a lot of rambling, ends by infodumping about everything space.

Eventually, the road trip comes up in conversation. It sounds interesting, and more importantly, Sam and Tucker know just how much Danny needs the break. It’ll be fine. Ghost attacks have gown down since they were 14; no, the town won’t fall apart without you; yes, they are absolutely insisting he go. Val can handle things.

There might have also been mention of aliens and a spaceship.

And so, Sam, Tucker and Danny invite themselves onto their trip. Now, they just have to convince their parents. It’s not hard to overshadow Sam and Tucker’s parents. As for his own parents, as soon as they hear “paranormal,” Jack and Maddie are more than thrilled to encourage the kids and start kitting them out with monitoring equipment, ecto weapons, extra camping gear, dried and canned food, and… why not take the GAV? They’re going on a cross-country road trip, and it doubles as the Fenton Family RV. It’ll help defend them, and they can take so many readings!

Vlad and other neighbors may or may not have also encouraged them to get the GAV out of town. Jack is a known menace on the roads in that thing.

They do insist on Jazz accompanying them this time. It’s her last summer before she leaves for college; it’ll be good for her to spend some time with family.

Jazz, who had just wanted to go to college early and maybe enroll in a lot of summer courses, finds herself dragged into… she’s not exactly sure what, but Danny owes her big time. (Seriously, what did I just get roped into?)

They pack up themselves and the GAV (runs on ecto-energy, so it also doesn’t need gas) and Sam straps her kayak to the top. Look, she saw April’s kayak on the turtle tank, and if they’re going kayaking, then she’s bringing hers, too.

This is also where it’s revealed to the group that Sam is loaded. And Sam agreeing to help bankroll the trip means that everyone can also expect to eat real food on the trip, not just ramen and peanut butter sandwiches. The group is a lot more willing to let them crash the trip if it frees up most of their budget for fun things and souvenirs. Welcome aboard!

And that evening, they leave Amity Park for Dib’s hometown in Ohio.

I can’t believe this fanfic is actually coming to an end- it feels like just yesterday this was just a concept. Just a thought. Just an idea. Just a drawing. But now here I am, many months later. Posting the last chapter… But don’t worry! Our beloved fish dudes aren’t going to be completely gone after this! I have a feeling I’m still going to think about this AU quite a bit. Hey it’s Shellington! It’s been many years since the “Kwazii was bitten by a cobra” incident. I still can’t believe that was 11 years ago!

I’m thankful that he survived!

Now Kwazii’s the captain of the Octopod, Barnacles retired a few years ago and now lives up in the Arctic near Pearl and Bianca.

Inkling is still here, somehow. Koshi helps ink out in the library.

Me and Peso are happily married and have been for almost ten years! Our anniversary is coming up.

Kwazii and Paani and Dashi and Tweak also got married many years ago.

After the “Kwazii was bitten by cobra” incident Kwazii and Paani found a newborn kitten (which they named Kai, as it means ocean or sea in several languages.) and took her in. Kai is 11 years old and they are quite intelligent, they like watching me do my experiments.

Me and Peso also have a child as well, their name is Lucia and they are almost 11 years old, she’s an albino sea otter and I saved her from being eaten by a predator.

Periwinkle is now in college and is majoring in Marine Biology, we still talk quite often.

We look back fondly (or… not so fondly) on our adventures (and misadventures) together.

Like that time Peso got moonstruck and through that party, or our crazy times in the Amazon! Or the time Paani forced us all to watch (or in me and Dashi’s case, rewatch) Invader Zim. We all became fixated in the process-

Holy shit that was a wild ride. I just want to thank everyone for reading this fic, leaving a comment, leaving kudos, likes or upvoting, it really means the world to me. I genuinely didn’t think so many people would want to read this kind of fic, but boy was I mistaken. I’m honestly very proud of this, this is the first ever long fic I actually finished and didn’t abandon. How I even thought of this AU was I saw my dear friend, Midori’s Octonauts Mermaid AU “Reclaimed By Nature” (which by the way, is a very good fanfic, I’d definitely recommend giving it a read! So I wondered to myself “huh… what if I made a H2O x Octonauts AU?” So I started to think of concepts. I had a couple in mind, one of the first being that Shellington would keep the secret much longer (he didn’t even tell Peso for awhile, which he would’ve felt very guilty about) and that he would’ve been very stressed about keeping it hidden from everyone. (Which, was inspired by a merman Lewis h2o AU fic I read, called H2O: A New Tail) Another one I had was basically the same as the first, but Peso would’ve found out sooner, as he would’ve gone after Shellington after got splashed while they were cleaning the beach, and he would’ve found him in the kelp forest. Shell would’ve tried to tell him that it was just a costume but Peso wouldn’t have really bought that so he would’ve told Peso the truth and Peso would’ve been like “it’s okay I still love you :) <3” One of the things I originally planned for this fic was that it’d be short, around 12 or 13 chapters, and that It’d just be about the lives and times of Peso and Shellington after Shellington became a merman. But now here we are, many chapters and scrapped concepts later- I actually even have an AU of this AU, it’s basically where I put all my scrapped concepts (one of the being that Paani was always a merm, I even wrote a short one shot about it, which I’ll probably post sometime soon) I named it “The Sight”. I originally planned for this fic to have 40 chapters, but I realized that many of them were unnecessary, so I scrapped most of them, other then my concept for chapter 35, which I kept and incorporated into chapter 29. Also I might make a story about Kai and Lucia??? If y’all really want that… It’s probably not gonna be anything big, just one shots or something but I mean maybe? If that’s what y’all want? Like I’d be happy to write a short fics on their origin story’s. After this fic, I might write a fic for another Octonauts AU I came up with that ive nicknamed “Invader Kwazii”. It’s an Invader Zim x Octonauts AU where Kwazii is sent to conquer Earth by The Tallest (who are Barnacles and Inkling) because they think he’s worthy of it. And it’s basically the plot of Invader Zim after that, there’s a few differences (like how it takes place in high school) tho, but other then it’s very similar to the plot. It also has Kwazini. It’s a little passion project for me, not to mention I’ve got plenty of ideas of how I want it to go. Another AU of mine I’ve been thinking about writing is my “Vampire Kwazton AU” it’s basically a AU where Shellington is a vampire and it takes place during the early 1990s when Grunge music was the big thing. It’s still a w.i.p but that might be a fic I write in the future, if I do I might just be a ficlet collection or something of the sort. Another fic I have I in mind is for my “Shellinoir” AU. Which will probably be a series of one shots. I came up with it after watching the SpongeBob episode “Squid Noir” which is where I got the title. It’ll likely be just a series of one shots. I also am currently pre writing an Invader Zim AU fanfic, it’s an AU where Dib and Gaz are sirens. I’ve currently got some chapters of it already written, however I want to finish it before I post it. I feel like this fic has taught me a lot and I’m glad.

Through whatever contrivance of the author's choice, things go in sexual directions to at least some degree of protest from OG Dib. Here's where it gets weird, however.

Zib, or at least the dominant Dib part of him, HATES this lesser Dib for ruining his plans, wants him to suffer. Brain Ghost Zim thinks the naively optimistic and goodhearted traitor Dib is ADORABLE, keeps overriding Zib's mouth to tell Dib it's all gonna be okay, he won't let his own Dib (Zib) hurt him. Zib is almost distracted from his assault by bickering with his mental Zim, with whom he has a malformed semi-affectionate relationship; basically a yandere killing their crush but the crush continues to exist and thinks it was sweet in its own fucked-up way.

TL;DR, pardon the Homestuck, but Zib assaults Dib over his intense pitch-tinged anger while Zib's Zim provides unwanted pale 'comfort' during the attack while Zib and his Zim have a deeply unhealthy flush-like thing going on.
