Let’s Build a Gay Library Together!
Hello you lovely internet queers of all kinds,
As you probably know if you follow us, we are currently building our inaugural digital collection, and we are working hard to make sure that it represents and fills the needs of our patrons. To that end, we would love to get some input from you! If you have 5 minutes to answer a few questions, we would be so grateful if you took our Collection Development survey: https://forms.gle/CXJ2uncyDMDr7p1T8.
If there are other people who you can think of that might be interested in QLL, especially people who you can see signing up for a library card with us when we launch, feel free to forward them the survey as well!

Evaluating First Nations Resources in a School Library Setting
Evaluating First Nations Resources in a School Library Setting
Teacher Librarians (TLs) have a mandate to develop balanced, up-to-date and contextualised collections, and to understand the pedagogical potential of the resources they promote and share with students and teachers. Photo by Drahomír Posteby-Mach on Unsplash TLs develop school library collections that must act as mirrors, windows and sliding glass doors – that is, collections which offer texts…

Bugtopia is coming out next month and I'm both very excited and very nervous. I'm sure people won't go in with crazy expectations or anything since the series was originally just me throwing random ideas around, but I spent a lot of time plotting out the story and characters (while still keeping it mostly episodic).
It's gonna be different but I'm really proud of how it turned out.

Pest Control
So if you've been looking at my posts lately you'll realize I've been fixating on Queen Danny. And I'm going to keep doing that. But let me grind up some new concepts to throw in.
You think that bugs can become ghosts? Other than singular ones like in Doctor's Disorders? Not really. They're not as obsessed or driven enough to be fully formed, and areas where they become even blobs via excess ecto would probably have a bunch of blob eaters or something balancing it out. So the singular ones in that episode would be much more rare in comparison.
And ghosts who control bugs don't count. We're talking about bugs being the ghosts.
But what about those mass insect killings? Pest control, or when a full apartment building lights on fire and there's enough ectoplasm around? You get a Hive.
Hives always prefer to work together, since even at their creation they are made up thousands or even millions of the creepy crawlies. They either form a body from tiny bodies or chose a majority that can represent it properly. So they can just meld and split without concern.
And in the bug and insect world, more often than not, the Queen is at the top. Pariah didn't count, he didn't even like the Hives. On the other limb, High Queen Phantom had created a clutch of her own.
Once she came into power, the Hives wish to fulfill her desires, as insect kingdom instincts demand and through newfound loyalty. They do so, to the detriment of everyone else.

With every day closer to the one year anniversary of Nightbringer, it becomes increasingly hilarious that the only two that got banned from naming days for NB's calendar are Mammon and Satan

Azul “WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU SHOT PEOPLE INTO THE SKY TO A ROCK?!??!” Ashengrotto
I'd also like to bring up the point that while there's water breathing potions I doubt they have anything to protect from the crushing depth of the deep ocean so I think he'd as freak the fuck out over the fact that humans have been that deep underwater. Very much in a WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!? HUMANS CANT GO THERE!” kind of cay
YES
I think twisted wonderland might have something that would allow humans to transform into merfolk, which would allow them to go into the deep ocean depending on the type of mer they became, but the concept of humans going as they are in submersibles is just odd. Then again he supposes your world doesn't have magic or merfolk so they don't have to worry about bothering anyone. Same with going to space, Azul's hatred of flying cannot be understated the thought of going that far up willingly is just so beyond him.
Azul is a very profit minded person, but his specialty and passion lies in hospitality and fixing niche problems. Space and deep sea exploration don't seem like fields he would want to expand his business into. He might be interested in the logistics of investing in those sorts of things? But the actual mechanics would just mystify him. The moon in the fucking sky give him a break.

This has nothing to do with that ask so I won't put it there but I've been thinking about it SO MUCH because I now get to play TotK without the pink glasses of OMG NEW GAME!!! I like TotK!! I like the play on Zelda's usefulness in this new Hyrule!!! I like the theme of rebuilding and community!!! But it can't hold the candle to how well BotW did at EXECUTING the themes, not through the story but the cohesiveness of the game. Every bit of BotW is so clearly dedicated to talking about nostalgia, loneliness, the soothing nature of the Wilderness Itself. It's in the music, it's in the colors, it's in every mountain range and raincloud and stone you have to throw to discover a secret. The story was definitely a bit lacking, but each character still had an established relationship with the leads that served to point out how lonely they are now compared to a century prior. I knew absolute jack about LoZ as a whole before playing the game, and it managed to make me feel almost as entranced and drenched in its history as I do now that I've played and watched and read so much more. Meanwhile TotK is very clearly set in that same world, but doesn't match it at all. I keep finding places that make me go "something should be here!" and then nothing is there, but the area is CLEARLY meant to feature something there, and if I go to BotW and check that same area I will find something there because THAT is the game that was meant to be hosted in this world. I sort of wish there was no Depths and they instead focused on reconnecting the OG map to the current theme they were going for, as well as the Sky Islands, which are woefully underutilized and could have served the same purpose the memory hunt did in BotW, contextualizing the Zonai era and giving us a stronger foothold in this world.
