I just spent a bit reading any research I could find on the use of steroids with COVID19.
Especially since my spO2 levels are dropping again and my brief foray out of squeaker toy territory seems to have come to an end (and the squeaker sounds have turned more harsh). I was hoping the coughing up mucus plugs would lead to improvements, but my lungs seem to have locked back down.
Hence, reading up on research articles into steroid use with COIVD19. As is the case with all things, the research body is complicated and contradictory in many ways. However, there does seem to be a majority of research that finds more positive outcomes (& less long-term lung damage) for those whose spO2 levels are <92% or <90% (before oxygen supplementing). With the caveat that the steroid is not administered early on in the course of the disease when it would impair initial immune recognition and response.
Given that I fit both criteria, and the reality that if I don't take the steroid I likely have no chance of staying out of the hospital (which desperately want to avoid hospitalization), I am leaning towards starting the steroid.

My cousin is having her bridal shower this Saturday. It’s the first non-work/social gathering I’ll have attended (besides funerals) since COVID lockdowns started. I’m a little anxious about it. Wedding party/guests is small so I’m sure everything will be fine. Most people attending have been vaccinated and are good about social distancing, but still... an entire year of avoiding people and places takes its toll.

It's very clear that the "we need to move on with our life" crowd are also very much responsible for the pandemic continuing. It doesn't matter if an event is full of vaccinated people, you can still catch COVID and spread it to others that aren't vaccinated or vulnerable, including children.
"We need to move on with our lives." No, we can't do that yet. Not without enough people vaccinated. Not while children are still at risk. Not while people are still being stupid. Not while people refused to get the vaccine, and because mask mandates and recommendations were eased, said people run around without a mask. MULTIPLE patients have come into our doctor's office who refused to get vaccinated have admitted that they go around without a mask to other places. Some of these people work with children. They give zero fucks and have been insanely lucky so far.
People are actively making this continue, and some of them are you "BuT wE hAvE tO cOnTiNuE wItH oUr LiVeS" ignoramuses.
The world is trying to turn again before it's recovered enough to do so.
We aren't ready. And part of it is your fault.

My time in quarantine resulted in two types of art, stuff I just made because I wanted to and some directly related to COVID. These two are the related to COVID ones. “Plague Mask” was inspired by the fact that everyone was calling this the plague and masks. “The Hoarder” was inspired by the people who bought all the toilet paper and left none for others.
