I've talked before about how the way people treat suicide can be unintentionally devastating to the suicidal person, but I don't think I really ever said how to avoid that.
Speaking about suicide in how selfish it "is" ("think about how you'll transfer your pain to your loved ones!") might seem like a way to put logical sense into the suicidal person, but, honestly? It runs the risk of massively increasing their shame and guilt about being suicidal. Suicide is not inherently a revenge fantasy or a way to "get back" at someone's loved ones, so when the suicidal person is treated like a criminal of a "crime" they haven't even committed yet, you can imagine how unhelpful that can become.
Instead, if you want to point out how cherished your person is, frame their relationships as something they can keep fostering.
"Your cat will miss you :(!!!!" becomes "you and your cat seem close, right? I'm sure it's beautiful having a close friend like that!" and maybe include ways that they and their cat are close and meaningful to each other, tailored to that relationship.
That's only one example, but when you shift the focus away from why that person should repent and feel guilty for being suicidal, you can instead focus on why they would live for that reason. See how you can frame that as a positive? Whatever is keeping that person tethered should never be used as a bludgeon, I think, because then you're taking away why they're living, the positivity of why they are here. Whatever they are here for should be remembered often and honoured.

Happy Nameday Hali! 🎂🎁🎉
Tomorrow (April 29th) is Hali’s nameday and my birthday, so I just had to do this gpose set to celebrate! I’m so proud of my girl and how I’ve developed her so much in less than a year. This isn’t my best gpose work, but it’ll have to do.

After vague blogging about fanfic and YA I will say that the issue of media for teens mixing poorly with all ages and adult media is not a problem exclusive to fanfic writers. 90% of the conflict in the star wars fandom stems from the fact that star wars’ YA and children’s media is to some degree canonically and philosophically incompatible with the mainline movies. In the movies the Jedi are unequivocally the heroes and we’re supposed to respect them even as they get backed into a terrible corner. They’re wise heroes doing their best.
In the media made for kids by necessity the adults of the Jedi order have to make absolutely wild and absurd decisions in order for the kid protagonists to get chances to do heroic stuff actual kids would find fun and exciting. This naturally puts their behavior at odds with the goals of the movies.
Add in that the movies don’t hold up to close reads because they’re intended to be fun summer blockbusters, and the fact that the Jedi are based on a fairly shallow understanding of a non-western collectivist lifestyle without nuclear families which is extremely foreign to western audiences and what do you get? Decades worth of discourse over whether the Jedi are actually good guys which can never be resolved because they're based on completely different ways of analyzing media. Worse, nobody can agree on what parts of star wars should be counted in the first place so even if you're analyzing things in the same style you might still be doomed.

currently reporting deliriously with pain meds and coffee (and procrastination)
but i had this image in my mind that si just annoying the fuck out of all slytherin cos he just keeps fucking with them and they * can't — not really* do anything to him, cause disgraced or not he's still the black heir and they have 4-5 blacks petty enough in their house that will fuck them up in ways that can't even tell how it happened.
sirus and mucilber ( or whatever that dude's name was just remember that's he's always the stupid one for any reason tho) get into a fight and mucilber does some stupid stuff and run his mouth
mucus foolishly - curses sirius with something dark and lethal
Sirius (obviously) - gets out of it and fucks up mucus with 15 creative curses.
james *sirius black 24/7 defence attorney* potter and bella *only i can try to murder sirius* black are now suddenly in cohoots like two kindergarten kids forced to be friends
cos muciber/mucus was stupid enough to whine in common room and James just has this 6th sense whenever sirus gets into a fight.
reg and cissa are researching poison for no reason at all
and Andy is just quietly looking at muggle ways to kill someone without trace cause she's progressive (and because it doesn't show on wand).
and just black family kiddies and James potter becoming unlikely friends cause of (1) sirius Orion black and that's just djfjbf
like this is obviously so crackish but imo, thai shows such a clear picture of world peace that it's just too funny to not use.
like use their power to full and all that yknow—
also snape in end just gives muciber a ticket to spain and be like - here's how you survive black family (not guaranteed)
i’m not saying i like that you’ve had to use pain meds and rely on coffee to get thru things but—
can i request these vibes in the inbox again? like, multiple times? because i am so into this.
for one, mucus is an absolutely fkn hysterical name. i just. Cannot take him seriously
and second. james & the blacks forming an unintentional alliance bc they’ve all started their own sirius black defence squad is so???? why can i literally picture it in my head 😭😭
(like i once talked about how james’ ability to inspire loyalty & devotion is so impressive he could probably be an accidental dark lord but this is just—another way to get to the same place and i love it)

have u seen the ladies?
Sure have! *drops gifs in your bucket* It's uh, it sure is a movie where two women have barely any chemistry despite presumably fucking the night before. Hopefully having more space in the full length movie they're making helps with that, but. I think it's the agegap, lol. So I dunno if it will.
