After Order 66, hundreds of clones were either left to rot in the clutches of the Empire, or simply faded from memory after escaping to the uncharted depths of the Unknown Regions. Living the rest of their lives in the confines of a cell, or constantly looking over their shoulders. There were a lucky handful that got to live regular lives however. Such is the case of Sponge and the family unit they stitched together from the wreckage of a war that had given them nothing but grief. It seems the Force really does work in mysterious ways.
At long last I can finally share with you my submission for the @cloneoczine, which unfortunately did not pan out the way we all hoped for due to unforeseen circumstances. Either way, a lot of really impressive pieces came out of this collaborative project, and I am very excited to be able to share what everyone else made!
This is also my first proper drawing of all of the Spongelings! Cameo appearances also include @lost-on-kamino's clone medic (Pitch) and scuba trooper (Penguin) who are a part of Sponge's family unit on Epifania, so they deserved to be a part of this clone beach picnic party (which uh, is about to become a whole lot more interesting once those gullmingos get to Lich...).

Holy shit.
I’m high so bare with me.
Omega is definitely force sensitive.
I have a new theory about order 66
The chip causes permanent disassociation. Assuming the chip works correctly, or is present at all, it forces the clone to suddenly recall what was functionally a repressed memory that the Jedi were traitors. A fact that would be very horrible if you’ve bonded with a Jedi, as we see the clones do throughout The Clone Wars. We see how close Anakin and Ahsoka are with Rex. We see Obi Wan’s fondness for (and arguably romantic feelings toward) Cody. Now imagine you suddenly know beyond the shadow of a doubt that that person is secretly fighting for the enemy you were raised to believe was evil. How angry would you be? Would you be angry enough to kill?
Crosshair’s fires erratically. He experiences a full disassociation that forgets everything that has happened since leaving Kamino as a cadet. That’s why he didn’t immediately kill Caleb Dunne/Kannan Jarrus when he heard the trigger phrase “Activate Order 66”.
He spends chunks of time in his pre-existing personality at the beginning of the series then his chip’s effects are cranked up to 1000 and he has this sense of knowing that the Jedi are traitors well beyond any way he’s ever known anything before. It’s true in his bones, and his brothers know it too, because they’re good soldiers like him. But Crosshair doesn’t exactly have reigns on his temper, and he’s frustrated with Hunter and Tech and Wrecker. Why are they fighting this? It’s so obvious, to Crosshair, that the emperor is right and the Jedi need to be dead. Because thats what he was built to believe. That’s what the chip tells him. That good soldiers follow orders.
The rest of the group don’t have functioning chips.
Whatever modifications were done to Tech, Wrecker, and Hunter in their brains. I’m pretty sure that whatever they did to Crosshair as an embryo was mostly done in his eyes.
Hunter has enhanced senses (though his vision is nothing on Crosshair. I’ll get to that in a minute). Hunter was built from scratch to be able to track, and notice ambush. The field commander. He was built to be in command of the squad. The captain or commander under their Jedi. He’s the Rex to a possible Jedi commander. A good leader, paternal toward his squad. Hunter’s skill set is to serve as the person who has everyone’s back. All the time. He’s supposed to take care of his men. He’s in charge, sort of. This is where a lot of the conflict between Hunter and Crosshair originates. Hunter was born to have their backs. Crosshair, however, wants that person to be him so badly.
Tech has an intensely powerful memory. He seems to interpret this to mean he’s smarter than the others, but nah, he just never forgets anything. Ever. He remembers everything in precise, clear, perfect detail. Always. Perfect for a scout, and a medic, and a pilot. He never forgets how to do anything once he learns it. He’s flexible, mentally and physically. He’s good with his hands and can create a little gadget out of nothing. You need a fixer on a team like this. Tech is your man.
Wrecker is exceptionally strong and durable. He was designed to take fire, to be able to shield his teammates with his body. He was then trained in hand to hand combat and explosives. So making his skin incredibly difficult to pierce would be important. He’d need to be able to take a blast, a blaster bolt, an attacking animal. He’s the muscle. Doesn’t mean he isn’t smart - I do think he has a bit of a traumatic brain injury from an injury sustained doing that job, where he lost an eye. He has the same synthetic eye as Wolffe, similar erratic behaviors as Gregor. Whatever happened to Wrecker was bad. He’s since been patched up. But Wrecker’s easy come easy go personality never wavered. It can’t when your job is to act like a human shield all the time.
Messing with their brains messed with their chips. They didn’t develop fully. Other parts of their brains are massively enhanced - Tech’s memory, Hunter’s senses, Wrecker’s ability to tolerate pain. But those chips are pretty well destroyed from the outset. Still there. Still possibly a threat until they have them removed. But nonfunctional. (Echo’s on the other hand, has been removed completely, purely by chance, while he was in captivity)
And Crosshair? Crosshair is a sniper. What does a sniper need more than anything to be the best marksman ever? Really, just superior eyesight. Crosshair’s eyesight must be insane. He can probably see at 500 feet what the average person sees at 3. He notices movements nobody else would see. He can probably see any wavelength, and in the dark, and possibly be able to see heat. But nobody ever asks him how he literally sees the world, and given him any basis for comparison. Imagine if you were a clone cadet and your three brothers got - what look like - magical superpowers. But your magical power is just the ability to see a little better than they can. Big whoop, eh? No wonder Crosshair has anger issues.
This was the original model of a smooth working squad, that was meant to be handed to a Jedi to command. Shaak Ti designed this squad, probably based on what she felt through the force from the other Jedi. What the other Jedi wanted and appreciated and hoped for in their soldiers. Then she took the most common features and handed the designs over to the kaminoans. She designed a team /for/ her fellow Jedi. Any Jedi. These boys were built to be the perfect, seamless team no matter which Jedi they were paired for.
(It must be awful being Echo, who was not built for this. No matter how much he tries, he’ll never be one of their batch. He was a Domino, and he’ll never know these guys like he knew Fives, or Hevy, or Cutup, or Droidbait. I think Echo recognizes that he’s older than the rest of the team, but sees one of his brothers in each of them. I haven’t quite pinned who corresponds with whom in Echo’s mind yet, but that’s why he’s so protective of his teammates. The OG Bad Batch are /young/, but they’re still clones. Echo is different now too, and he knows that being different doesn’t change who is family is. He’s the older brother, I think, in time, the rest of the batch will come to see Echo as Echo sees Rex. And Rex sees Cody. I hope that will be rewarding for Echo. He deserves some peace.)
But then the plan changed and a new order came in for clones to replace the Jedi. The Kaminoans are businesspeople with no real stake in the war, so they do it. Plus it’s interesting, really. They tried and tried to create a force sensitive child. And finally they did it. They created someone to replace the Jedi. They created Omega.
Omega’s story will be about another force sensitive kid. It’s the plot of The Mandalorian all over again.

I ADORE your works especially the fluffy ones-
Can I request each member of the Bad Batch with an S/O who was born with only 2 fingers on their right hand? Like Nemo’s lucky fin from Finding Nemo lmao—
^-^
This is new, I hope I can do this justice :) Let me try!

Hunter
You are used to this, born with it. Still, Hunter will always help you unasked, opening cans for you, bottles and what not. It takes quite some time for him to learn that you don't need help with everything.
He doesn't mean bad and he doesn't look at you as if you were incomplete, he just want's to help, that's all. he is respectful and never made much of a fuzz about it, aside from helping you.
But if anyone ever dares to be mean or disrespectful about it, he makes short work of the bully. He hates bullies, always protected Tech in their Cadet time from other clone bullies too. He knows the type and mostly senses them even before they approach you.
Echo
He is very similar to Hunter, but he is more intense about the helping thing. He will help you with absolutely everything. But that's part of his nature anyway, he is a very caring and loving guy.
You will probably have to show him the limits and tell him that you don't need help with everything, because sweet Echo tends to over do it.
He always means well and he doesn't think less of you in any way. You can openly talk about everything, he will understand and always support you in any way you need. Even if it means to hold back a little and give you space.
Wrecker
Your sweet giant is a caring and helpful soul. But other than most he is not doing anything without your permission. He asks you if you need help, he watches you and chimes in if he sees that you need him. other than that, he won't
He knows how independent you are and that you don't need him for everything. Of course he's happy to help you, but he won't force his help on you like Echo might try to do.
With Wrecker you are always sae, valued and cared for.
Tech
If you let him he prepares gadgets for you. You know he loves to invent, tinker and build. If you don't mind, let him. Whatever he makes for you, will always have a good purpose and be useful in any way.
It's part of his love language. When he really loves someone he is building gadget after gadget for that person, for all kinds of purposes.
He is so happy to show you what he made for you that it will be hard to say no anyway.
Crosshair
He doesn't really think about it and as long as you really don't need any help, he doesn't care either.
Crosshair knows you are independent and you know how and what to do in most cases. He will never interfer unless you ask him to. He knows if you really need him, you'll tell him and if you do, he'll always be there for you.
But he is very protective of you. Any bully and/or mean person will have a hard time because of him, to say it mildly. He's also not very keen on people asking you stupid unwanted questions.
I hope this is somewhere close to what you wanted

@specialist-week Day 4
Prompt: Obvious
Genre: Romance with a capital R
Pairing: Hunter/Tech
Warnings: Clone/clone, making out in public like obnoxious teenagers
Summary: Hunter convinces Tech that he needs to purchase some civvies.
---
They weren’t property of the Republic any longer, or anyone’s property, for that matter. Between missions for Cid, Clone Force 99 found that they had a lot of downtime that belonged to nobody but them. It was strange, at first, to depart from the strict and regimented schedule of missions and training, but it didn’t take long for discomfort to give way to tentative excitement.
Tech was the last of the Squad to really take to wearing civvies while off-duty because his armor had a million and one built-in gadgets that allowed him to be prepared and connected. Hunter was only able to convince Tech that wearing civvies was a good idea after bringing up the idea of Tech creating a bevy of new, more casual gadgets to take the place of the ones on the armor. Tech was, of course, never one to pass up an opportunity for tinkering, so after he had a few of these projects under his belt, Hunter accompanied him on a shopping trip.
“How do I look?” asked Tech, emerging from behind the red curtain of a thrift-store dressing room. The outfit that he had found stole Hunter’s breath.
Tech wore a snug, yet comfortable-looking turquoise, sleeveless top with a v-neck that exposed and accentuated Tech’s bite-able collarbone. His toned legs were contoured by a pair of fitted black trousers that he wore tucked into a pair of knee-high boots. Had it not been for the battle scars that covered the clay-colored skin of his arms, Tech could almost have passed for a civilian.
“Do I look hideous?” Tech asked, furrowing his thick eyebrows.
“No,” said Hunter, running his hand through his long, wavy hair. “You look good, maybe too good.”
Tech stepped towards Hunter and rested his hand on the small of his back, brushing his fingers over the green fabric of Hunter’s civilian tunic. “I could say the same about you,” he said, his lips brushing Hunter’s. Tech’s smile was so broad that his eyes crinkled at the corners, so Hunter knew that his partner’s happiness was genuine. Hunter only ever wanted Tech to be happy.
In a burst of levity, Hunter spun Tech around so that his back touched the wall and caged him with his bare arms. “Can’t say I’m surprised,” he said “you’ve been starin’ at me all day. Can’t stop lookin’ at you, either.”
“Are you attracted to me?” asked Tech, a playful lilt coloring his voice.
“Thought it was obvious,” said Hunter, before leaning in to kiss Tech the way that he wanted to since they woke up that morning. He licked along the seam of Tech’s lips and slipped his tongue between them. Tech cupped Hunter’s tattooed cheek with a warm hand and kissed back. They stood against the wall, mapping each other’s mouths and breathing each other’s air until a man’s voice interrupted them.
“Go make out somewhere else!” shouted the shopkeeper. Hunter and Tech pulled apart like two cadets who had been caught fumbling in a bunk together. Both men laughed.
“Busted,” said Tech.

One of my headcanon about the Horde kids, is that all of them know how to patch up and fix gadgets and mechanical things. They’re not engineers, unless that’s the one they were trained in, they’re not like Entrapta and Bow but they know their way around machinery because they lived around them all their lives.
I don’t think Hordak bothered to teach anyone how to fix and maintain the remains of his crashed ship (because the Fright Zone seat of power is definitely Hordak’s crashed ship).
So all the things the Horde cadets get are hand me downs armor uniform and taser batons, and even skiff.
Adora might have handled the leak messily in Darla but she handled it. Its why Catra and Scorpia was good at assisting Entrapta.
TLDR I was thinking of this because of my belief that after Adora and Catra’s done with rebuilding Etheria, they would go ahead and take a few years off, to travel in space, maybe helping out.
They’d be like the couple from Sailing Uma, who were architecture students and bought a 50 year old, fixer-upper boat, over the course of the few years they refit and rebuilt the boat by themselves and now Uma looks amazing.
In my post-series headcanon, that’s what Adora and Catra do, slowly refit and rebuild Darla. Eternians built things to last, they’re terrible colonizers but they’re undoubtedly great engineers.
I imagine every space sport they berth in, they find ways to tinker and fix Darla up to code.
They even try to bring Swift Wind with them in a few trips, it works but Swift Wind’s decided he really isn’t a space faring steed but an Etherian bound steed.
He’s helping Plumeria and Scorpian Kingdom to rebuild and even keeping an eye on a few surviving Clones.

The Number Lads Continue!
This time with... UMBARA! *dramatic thunder clap* Also you get to meet the final Number Lad! Full disclosure, Umbara is gonna take up a LOT of chapters. At least four. Because I don't want to suddenly give you guys 10K-word chapters, that would be a little mean. So these next few chapters will be roughly the same length as the others, but following the Umbara Arc as it happens in Number Lads AU.
Previous Chapter Here! (It has links to all the other chapters. This is getting long lol)
Sevenset hummed to himself under his helmet as he made his way through Kamino’s maze of passages. It was some song from the holonet stuck in his head after one of the ARC trainees had showed him a video yesterday. He knew other clones wouldn’t mind the noise, but he knew the kaminoans wouldn’t exactly appreciate it. While he might poke and prod some of his COs on Kamino, he wasn’t dumb enough to go after the long-necks. He rounded a corner into one of the many wings of cadet barracks, raising his vambrace to double check his assignment. Cadets were always graduating on Kamino, and more often than not, their trainers were too busy to escort them to processing to get their armor, their weapons, and join the other troopers shipping out. The ARC commanders must have noticed how much Sevenset liked being with the cadets–which he did!--because he’d been getting more and more assignments with them.
He found the room he was looking for, arriving at the same time as a couple cadets, graduation medals gleaming on their chests. They snapped to salutes as they were trained to do, and he ushered them into the room. “Don’t bother, troopers, we’ve got places to be.” The pride in their faces when he called them troopers was always rewarding. Entering the room proper, he called out, “Alright, I’m here for Kip Squad, Trail Squad, and Gadget Squad. Come line up by the door in front of me, nice a quick, please and thank you.”
His probably over-casual language often confused the cadets, who were only used to ‘sirs’ and ‘ma’ams’ so far in their lives. But, the three squads of five filed over and lined up like he asked. He took off his helmet and put it under his arm to address them before they headed back into the halls.
“First of all, congratulations, troopers,” he said with a smile. He received a chorus of “thank you, sirs” and the same proud smiles he’d gotten from the cadets at the door. They were in the squad farthest to his right. “I’m Sevenset, I’ll be taking you down to get your armor and weapon, so I hope you said goodbye to your bunks and lockers. You’re not coming back to ‘em.”
One of the troopers muttered something like, “Thank the Maker,” and Sevenset could hardly blame him.
“Alright, good!” he smiled. “Any questions?”
“Where’d you get so many tattoos?” one of the troopers towards the back of his line blurted. His squad ahead of him all turned to glare at him, and he quickly raised a hand and amended, “Where did you get so many tattoos, sir?”
It was a typical question. Sevenset ran a hand over his scalp where he knew the tattoos were. "I was stationed on Coruscant before Commander Fox shipped me back here for ARC training. Trip Zip has literally thousands of places to get ink when you're one leave. Other questions?"
"How long did it take you to get promoted, sir?" another trooper asked.
"For me? About a year, a little more than, but there were extenuating circumstances. Now," he placed his helmet on his head. "You may feel free to ask questions as we walk, but we have a schedule to keep, troopers. Let's march! Not literally," he added quickly.
As they followed him back through the winding white hallways, other groups of newly graduated troopers filed out in the hall with them. Sevenset wasn't the only ARC leading a group, thankfully, and he subtly made his way over to another as they walked.
"Hey, Newt, how're the little tykes this month?"
The other ARC shook his head. Newt had been through training with Sevenset, although he served under Commander Havoc, not Colt. His armor was therefore painted blue. "Same as they always are, Sevens. Eager and excited.”
"Looked a little young to me," Sevenset remarked. It was something most of the older ARCs had all noticed, but rarely talked about. Cadets were being pushed out into the war earlier and earlier; the troopers following behind them barely looked nine standard years.
"They're getting younger and younger," Newt agreed quietly.
Their conversation was interrupted by one of the troopers following Newt. "Can I ask a question, sir?"
Both ARCs turned their heads. The trooper shied a little at the attention, but he wasn't backing down. "No--just you, sir…" He pointed to Sevenset.
"Ask away, trooper," he answered.
"Those um… the paint on your arm guard, with the sevens--what are those for?"
Sevenset looked down, turning to look at the white circle around the four red sevens on the upper arm guard of his armor. "Oh, those things?" He could probably guess Newt was rolling his eyes. "They're my number. Seventy-seven seventy-seven."
The trooper's too-young face brightened. "Really? I'm eleven eleven, sir."
Sevenset turned around fully, now walking backwards next to Newt. "No kidding! Awesome!" He held up his hand. "High five, kid." The trooper did so, his eyes shining happily. "You got a name yet?"
"Elevensies, sir."
Newt put a hand on his shoulder and guided him around a corner he couldn't see. "That is an awesome name. I'm Sevenset. You know I've been keeping an eye out for you."
"Why?"
“Well there's a bunch of us, with the repeating numbers. There's thirty-three thirty-three, there's eighty-eight eighty-eight, everyone from zero to nine. We get together, we have fun. You, my young friend, are the only one we hadn't found yet."
"You and your numbers, Sevens," Newt said, shaking his head.
"Me and my numbers are awesome, " he countered. Turning back to Elevensies, he asked, "Do you have a first assignment yet?"
His face fell slightly. A glance at the others in his line revealed his whole squad had similarly sullen expressions. "Yeah. We're all assigned to the Guard. Most of us aren't… thrilled."
Sevenset nodded, knowing all too well that feeling of disappointment upon finding out you'd be spending the rest of your life on one planet, doing the same things forever. "Oh, it's not as bad as you think."
The troopers in Elevensies’ squad all looked up at him.
“That was my first assignment too,” he continued. “Honestly, it’s better than you think. They really know how to take care of their own over there, I promise. You won’t even be out in public until you’ve got enough experience.”
The trooper behind Elevensies raised a hand slightly. Sevenset nodded, and he asked, “But won’t it get boring? The same planet… over and over?”
“Coruscant isn’t about the planet,” Sevenset replied. “It’s about the city and the people on the planet, trust me. You guys will be fine. Just don’t piss off the Senate Guards, those guys suck.”
“Heads up, Sevens,” Newt told him, implying he should turn around and look presentable now. He did.
They were approaching the point where they would hand off the new troopers to the Kamino Guard to be processed and assembled into proper shinies. More long-necks about, and a higher chance one of the commanders might come by and give Sevenset another reminder about watching where he was going.
Newt and Seveset paused the the large set of doors into which their charges would enter. “Armor up, boys,” he told them. “Good luck out there.” The three squads following Sevenset went first, giving him time to dig out a stylus from his belt. “Hey, Elevensies,” he said, holding out his hand. “Once you get your comm calibrated, send me a message when you can, yeah? I’ll give you my frequency.”
Elevensies stuck out his hand and Sevenset wrote a series of numbers onto the inside of his wrist. “Thank you, sir,” he said, reading them over as his squad prepared to walk through the doors.
“And if you see Commander Fox, tell him Sevenset says hello,” he added. “It might get you in trouble, but it’ll be funny!”
There was visible confusion in answer to that, and Newt folded his arms and shook his head again as the troopers moved on. “You are the worst influence on the cadets I’ve ever seen.”
“Oh I know,” he smiled.
-scene-
Of all the campaigns to have as his triumphant return to the field, Echo would not have chosen Umbara. It had started off just fine, honestly. The alterations to his leg armor had given his leg ample support for the initial assault, just like it had in the drills and exercises onboard the Resolute, and his arm hadn’t even bothered him.
And then Krell had arrived.
Echo wouldn’t even call him a general in his own head. The Jedi had not earned that title, nor the respect it entailed. In fact, all that Jedi had done so far was force a death march down an exposed road covered in mines and waiting amushes.
The last ambush had been about ten hours ago, he was pretty sure, and his leg was… less than pleased with the pace Krell had set. Seriously, did the besalisk think clones really were meat droids–capable of endless marches on no sleep and pure adrenaline? It sure seemed like it.
He’d fallen behind Fives hours ago, his batchmate still keeping pace with the captain and the Jedi. Echo was left limping towards the back of the company as they marched. Not exactly the safest place, his ARC training kept reminding him, but he didn’t have a choice. Every time his knee bent, it threatened to buckle entirely, sending sparks of pain shooting up his leg in to his lower back. His altered armor was likely the only thing keeping him upright, as long as he didn’t trip. Not tripping was difficult, of course, when they hit a mine field, and everyone had to follow the precise formation of safe panels on the road. The Umbarans hadn’t exactly had a gimpy clone in mind when placing their weapons.
“Mines ahead!” one of the clones on a walker in front of them called back to the last lines of troops. Echo groaned inwardly. Joy of joys. He pulled his scanner back out and aimed it down at the hexagonal panels, waiting for the pale blue illuminated signature of a buried mine.
They had to be approaching the capital soon, right? Or a base of some kind? He just wanted to stop walking, and frankly, the Umbaran jungle was giving him the creeps. The constant twilight was already unsettling to any diurnal person, but the bioluminescence in pinks and blues just made it worse. Nothing safe was bright red and glowing. Fives had already found a carnivorous plant-like creature buried in the dirt, its mouth up and tentacles looking just like vines. Then there were the strange flying creatures who had already grabbed up a few clones, sometimes being shot down, sometimes not. Echo didn’t like to think about it, but this whole planet reminded him of Rishi Moon in ways. Always dark. Always waiting to eat you. Or blow you up.
The trailing end of the line of soldiers finally reached the mine field. Echo saw the men ahead of him change their paths, treading lightly in seemingly haphazard zigzags as they avoided the dangerous tiles. Echo gritted his teeth against a particularly sharp spear of pain from his leg as he moved to avoid the first cluster of mines in his path. Changing direction remained the most difficult maneuver to execute.
As he carefully picked his way through the lightshow of death on the road, his vambrace lit up with a message on his comm. He transferred it to his HUD with the press of a button. It was from Fives, like the past nine messages had been, checking in on him. Echo paused briefly to open his helmet’s internal comm system and waited for Fives’ helmet to connect back.
“How’re you hanging on, Echo?”
“I’m still standing, how’s that?”
There was pause before Fives said, “Well, it’s something. How’s the pain? Do you need Kix or Coric–”
“No, no, it’s not that bad, Fives,” Echo said, which was becoming less and less true by the hour. Truthfully, he just didn’t want to slow down the march. He had a feeling Krell would notice, and the last thing he wanted was that Jedi pissed off.
He heard his brother sigh. “Okay. You’ll let me know if it is, yeah?”
“Yeah, I will. I’m in the middle of the last mine field, though, I gotta go.”
“I’ll let you concentrate on not dying, then.”
Echo smiled a bit at that. “Thanks.” The audio clicked off, and he was alone in his helmet again.
There wasn’t much time for quiet, however, because a few moments later, the clone on the walker who had warned them about the mines shouted, “Incoming creatures!” and pointed off to the right, into the jungle.
More flying creatures. Echo didn’t even know what to call them, but he knew they were one thing: hunters. And right now, with his limp, he was basically a to-go meal. He cursed under his breath and tried to pick up the pace, trying to close ranks with the clones around him, but the mines made it difficult. The other problem was he probably had the best aim of those around him, making him the most likely to be able to take out the creatures should they decide to swoop down on them.
Still checking the scanner ahead of him, he turned his head to find the creatures. There were only two of them, gliding abnormally smoothly towards them through the dense, indigo jungle. Their glowing green markings made them easy to pick out, but it was hard to tell where their heads were to aim a good shot.
But he was still an ARC. “Look sharp, boys,” he said out loud to the troopers around him. “Try to group up, no one left by themselves, it’s too easy a target.” The clones did as he said, clumping together where the mines allowed it. Echo found himself shoulder to shoulder with two other clones, hoping they wouldn’t jostle him too much and worsen his balance.
They all watched the creatures approach swiftly, making no noise at all, which only added to Echo’s dislike of them. “Steady, boys,” he said.
As the creatures broke through the edge of the jungle along the road, they made a terrible sort of grating screech. Echo hastily stashed his scanner and hefted his DC-17 in both hands, trying to distribute his weight as evenly over two feet as his leg would allow.
The creatures dove.
The first one, Echo managed to hit as it went down, using the logic that most hunters dive with their head first, so aiming there seemed a good plan. The creature flopped to the ground, thankfully away from any mines. The second one changed trajectory, gliding farther over the road before angling down. The clones opened fire, well aware these animals had been the demise of several brothers already.
It happened to pass directly over Echo’s group, forcing them all to turn sharply. Echo regretted that immediately. As soon as he turned, his leg finally buckled, sending him careening backwards into one of the troopers near him.
For some reason, the first thing out of his mouth as he was falling was, “Watch the mines!” Where were the mines? He knew the immediate area was clear, because they were standing there, but he had no idea where the trooper would step to avoid being knocked over with him, and the last thing he needed was a damn mine going off and getting him (and others) blown to bits. Again, in his case.
The second thing he did before hitting the ground was turn around. At some point during ARC training, his body had figured out how to right itself before hitting the ground. But that was before his right arm and leg had suffered major injuries to their nervous systems.
Miraculously, when he hit the ground, nothing exploded.
He’d also managed to land on his left arm for the most part, so that was good, but now it was pinned under him. His right leg, however, was in a world–no, practically a galaxy of pain, and he felt it all the way up his back, red hot and razor sharp.
“Sir?” one of the troopers around him asked.
“Corporal Echo sir?” another said almost at the same time.
Echo swore under his breath several times, biting his lip to distract from his leg. It didn’t work, of course, and he knocked his helmet on the ground a couple times before composing himself enough to say through clenched teeth, “Help me up.”
There was a pause before one of them said, “How do we do that, sir? We don’t want to… hurt you.”
He let out a breath carefully. They had to do this quickly. Each second meant the rest of the company marched farther and farther ahead. Slowly, he rolled onto his back, wincing when he had to move his leg. He held up his blaster. “Someone hold this.” One of the troopers did (none of them was in his platoon, so he had little idea of names). “Grab my hands,” he went on, holding up his hands. “I’m gonna need to lean on someone once I’m up, my leg’s done for the day. Understood? Get to it.”
Luckily, his right arm cooperated and the pair of troopers hauled him to his foot without issue. “You can lean on me, sir,” the one not holding his blaster offered.
“Much obliged, you got a name?”
“Overhand, sir.”
“Much obliged, Overhand. Let’s get moving, we don’t want to fall behind out here,” he said to the group at large, taking his blaster back from the other trooper and clipping it to the back of his belt. It was too unwieldy to use one handed the way he was, so his pistols would have to do. He pulled his scanner back out and aimed it at the road. Fortunately, the mine field was thinning. He also noticed the last lines of troopers in front kept glancing behind at them, making sure they didn’t fall too far behind.
Maker, his leg hurt like hell. It was all the bad things about having “pins and needles” on top of having limited stimulus response in general. Just his luck, of course. But he ground his jaw shut and carried on, somehow catching up to the rest of the marching columns in only a few minutes.
A short time later, Echo looked up when he heard Fives call his name. His batchmate had appeared on the side of the road and was now making a beeline for him. “What the hell, Echo?”
Right, the last thing he’d heard from Echo was that everything was just fine.
“I thought you said it wasn’t that bad–!”
“It wasn’t!” Echo shot back, letting him manhandle him off of Overhand’s shoulder and onto his own. “Some of those flying things attacked while we were stuck in a mine field and I fell, okay? What are you even doing back here?”
Fives huffed, practically dragging him along, undoubtedly towards a medic. “The general noticed we were slowing down, I guess. Rex sent me back to see why.”
“Yeah, well, if ol’ four arms up there let us rest for an hour, we’d go a lot faster,” Echo grumbled.
“Yeah, I know,” Fives agreed. “C’mon, we just gotta keep going. But right now, you’re going to Kix, then you’re going to hitch a ride on a walker until you can stand again.”
Echo really couldn’t argue, especially when just interpreting his brother’s words was a struggle in competition with the overwhelming pain signals from his leg.

Sixes had never been to Umbara, and judging by the preliminary research he and his two captains had done, he wasn’t exactly looking forward to being there. The planet spent almost its entire orbit and revolution in semi-darkness, the plants and animals there sounded absolutely awful–frankly, any place where the plants tried to eat you was a no-go in Sixes’ book–and the locals had recently defected to the Separatists. Sounded like a treat. At least the atmosphere was breathable for humans, which wasn’t necessarily the case for the Umbarans themselves. Sixes’ senior medical officer still hadn’t been able to explain that in a way that made sense.
No one should have to spend any extended amount of time on that planet, and no one should spend any time at all under Krell’s leadership. To have both at the same time might as well constitute torture. True, Sixes’ Death Wings had never completed a mission under Krell, but the Marines had. He’d heard more than enough stories from them on their most recent mission together to tell him everything he needed to know about the besalisk, and none of it was good. Finding the mind-numbingly high casualty rates later had just been icing on the cake. There was no way he was letting the 501st go through this without backup when his men had no outstanding assignment.
The hardest part had been getting a light carrier ship into atmosphere without detection, but the Death Wings were good at that. After that, it had been as simple as a short recon excursion to figure out where Rex’s Freaks were (in the middle of a firefight and losing), what their aim might be (taking an airbase to the west), and how they might best help them (taking the airbase for them). So that ended here, with half of the Death Wings in the air and skimming through the Umbaran atmosphere. Sixes was leading half of these towards the nearest enemy airbase to take it over, and his captain Marks was leading the other half to give the Umbarans currently dogging the 501st a little run-around to give the clones on the ground a chance to regroup.
“Prepare for approach,” Sixes told the pilots following him. The airbase stood out clearly now, a lit beacon in the dark jungle. “Remember we need some ships intact, their weapons are most efficient against their own. Count off.”
One by one, his pilots in Jay Squadron and Screech Squadron counted themselves off, tightening formation as they did. Time for some fun.

Since the Fossil Ghouls got a lengthy post with this information, I feel its only fair for the heroes to get the same.
In the closing days of the Cretacious, the Dinosovian civilization was at its height. Their world came to a screaming end with the arrival of the Monster Meteor Apothis. In an effort to save their people, Professor Rachus of Science Tower One attempted to shift the Dinosovian people into the future to escape the impact.
Something went wrong.
65 million years later, Science Tower One and a handful of Dinosovian survivors appear on the outskirts of Granite Mountain, Colorado, while far above, the injured core of Apothis materializes in orbit. When Apothis’ Fossil Ghouls descend on Earth, the only hope for mankind is the reductant heroes of the DynoGuard.
Roar into the Future! (bios and lore below the fold)
Dracora “Cora” Rex Species: Pachyon (Dracorex) Armor: Trailrazor  DynoPower: Flame Breath Ranger Cora Rex of the DynoGuard Parks and Wildlife division wasn’t ready for any of this. She was just dropping off her daughter at a summer internship when the world ended, leaving her the highest ranking (and only) government official of her people. Practical, longsuffering and tough, Cora is the common sense glue that holds the new DynoGuard together. Hopeless with technology and baffled by science, but has a natural affinity for animals and, against her better judgement, a knack for heroism.
Brach Longstride Species: Podite (Brachiosaurus) Armor: Slammerhead  DynoPower: Size Increase  Easygoing and literally tons of fun, Brach (Brachiosaurus) walks a fine line between exuberance and self-control. He’s a big, lovable mechanic and handyman who keeps everything from food dispensers to DynoGuard vehicles humming. If there’s a fight to break up or tensions to ease, Brach’s your dino. He loves hamburgers (his favorite human invention), fixing things, and explosions.
Zara Hurlant Species: Pachyon (Parasaurolophus) Armor: Echo Chamber  DynoPower: Hypersonic Scream The protégé of Science Tower One’s head researcher Professor Rachus, Zara  is an expert in theoretical physics and the Time Slip device. Zara blames herself for the botched time jump and for bringing Apothis with them. Her guilt manifests as a short temper and sarcastic attitude. She’s capable of amazing acts of kindness and heroism, but she holds herself at arms length from others. She resents humans for inheriting the world. She tolerates Jason, but holds Gloria in suspicion and contempt.
Kyle Stowne Species: Thyrene (Ankylosaurus) Armor: Hazmaxx  DynoPower: Metal Form  Kyle Stowne rolls with life’s punches as best he can, typically by focusing on some problem to solve. A brilliant young engineer and chemist, Kyle was at the edge of the Time Slip and lost his left arm and several horns to the void. He wears (and endlessly tinkers with) a prosthetic arm of his own design. He has a sharp analytical mind with a “light the fuse and run” approach to science. He is obsessed with finding the science behind the Fossil Ghouls’ “so-called magic.” He focuses on his work to the point of ignoring food, sleep and hygiene.
Linhera “Linn” Rex Species: Dromeon (velociraptor) Armor: Fighterflight  DynoPower: Cloaking Camoflage Curious, excitable and impulsive, Linn finds adapting to modern life easier than the others. She becomes fast friends with Jason James and loves human culture despite not quite “getting” it. She unabashedly adores action movies, pop music, young adult novels, hyperactive video games, and cute animals both real and animated. Her exuberance helps her cope with the loss of her father and friends, whom she misses greatly.
Jason James Species: Human Equipment: DynoSphere vehicle/battle armor, Podite Multi-Tool Jason met the DynoGuard when his father, Sagan James, moved to Granite Mountain to work for Gloria Anning. He is Linn’s best friend and the first human to become a DynoGuard cadet. Like most boys his age, Jason loves gadgets, video games and goofing off. But his burning passion is cryptozoology, the unsolved, and the unexplained. Now that monsters are real and talking dinosaurs walk the Earth, this minor rebellion against his scientist parents is a useful skill set. Kentra Thagomizer and Tyrannocopter Species: Kentra is a Thyrene (stegosaurus), Tyranncopter is a Tyrannocopter.  Armor: Motosaurus  DynoPower: Energy Spikes/Plates  Kentra and Tyrannocpter did not return with Science Tower One. The only thing certain about their background is none of what they’ve provided is true. Kentra has a smarmy, roguish demeanor and a love of profit and schemes. Tyrannocopter’s artificial intellignece isn’t any better, but at leas the’s more charming.  Dr. Cerebrotops Species: Cerosoid (diabloceratops) Armor: Peer Review  DynoPower: Telepathy, Telekinesis Mutated by genetic experiments he performed on himself, Dr. Cerebrotops (Diabloceratops) is a telepathic mad scientist and the first Dinosovian Cora’s team encounters after arriving on modern Earth.
Dr. Cerebrotops values intelligence beyond all else, specifically his own. He’s an arrogant egomaniac who defends his positions by invoking the size of his brains, and considers himself shackled by the ignorance of other creatures. His Aegis Armor is a custom suit called Peer Review, which summons Meddy and Cort, a pair of additional cloned brians he uses as assistants. Meddy is optimistic and scatterbrained while Cort is pessimistic and anxious.
Gloria Anning Species: Human Billionaire Tech Mogul  Owner of Anningtech and the Observatory where Science Tower One rematerialized (as well as most of the surrounding town of Granite Mountain, Colorado), Gloria Anning stands at the center of everything. The DynoGuard’s patron and most powerful human ally, Gloria funds and defends her time-lost charges from the threats that armor, claws and fangs cannot match: fighting for them in court and in the media.
Gloria’s driven, quirky personality and generosity hide a larger agenda. On the surface she works to forge peace between the Dinosovians and humanity as her chance at a place in history. In secret, she seeks to unlock the secrets of the DynoGuard’s technology, particularly that of the DynoBond, to ensure that place. She claims her plans and schemes are in the best interests of her new friends, but can the DynoGuard trust her… and if not, is there anything they can do about it?
---
Allegiences & Relationships
As heroes, the DynoGuard get a long better than the Fossil Ghouls, however, they each have their own unique relationships to one another.
Cora sees herself as the ‘mother’ of the team, and as the lone member with sense. She’s probably not wrong in either case. She sees Brach as a fellow adult, if just barely, and frequently clashes with Zara over everything from trusting the humans, to battle strategy, to chore rotation. Her strongest loyalty is to her daughter, Linn.
Brach is the ‘fun uncle’ of the team. He has a troubled past and sees a lot of himself in Zara, but his attempts to reach out usually anony her. Brach neither trusts nor likes Dr. Cerebrotops.
Zara clashes with Cora over leadership decisions. She is fond of Linn because they were both hand-picked by Professor Rachus, and she’s fond of Kyle even if they fight like siblings. She does not trust Gloria, or most humans, a prejudice that leaves her open to Dr. Cerebrotops’ influrence.
Kyle wants everyone on the team to get along. He likes his fellow dinosovians, and the humans, even when they’re being baffling. He fills the mentor/big brother role for Linn and a rival sibling role for Zara.
Linn has a strong relationship with her mother, despite rebelling as most dinos of her age do. She and Jason are best freinds, and she quickly adapts to seeing the DynoGuard as a second family.
Kentra is loyal to herself and Tyrannocopter, in that order. While she would gladly steal from or swindle her fellow dinos, her conscience will always drive her to show up when survival is on the line. She avoids Dr. Cerebrotops as telepathy, as a concept, makes her uncomfortable. Tyrannocopter’s loyalties are to Kentra nd to any other fully intelligent Dinosovian AI that he encounters. His distaste for seeing other creatures exploited occasionally is strong enough to override his self-interest.
Dr. Cerebrotops has a misanthrope’s view of most beings. He respects Zara’s skill as a scientist and sees her as a possible ally against humanity, which he sees as a threat that must be removed or defanged before the rest of Dinosovian civilization exists the time slip. He sees Kyle as a promising student hwo isn’t living up to his potential and only really cares about Linn or Brach if he can impress them with his intellect or power.
-
Character Vices
While each Fossil Ghoul had a virtue, each Dino/Ally has a vice.
Cora is stubborn. She adapts poorly to technology, has a difficult time backing down from plans and has a hard time admitting she’s wrong, particularly to Zara.
Brach is afraid of his own power/success. He fears the destructive capability of his own DynoPower and underachieved professionally despite being a mechanical genius.
Zara is filled with anger. She was always short-tempered, but losing her people, her father figure, and her world in one day has exaggerated this. In addition to makin gher a classic ‘hothead’ this also manifests as mistrust of humans, something she struggles with through for some time.
Kyle is obsessive. Kyle has difficulty moderating his interests, in both the day-to-day sense and the big picture sense. Once something grabs him it is difficult if not impossible for him to let go.
Linn is impulsive. Linn isn’t as mature as she believes herself to be and is prone to acting on impulse. She makes poor choices when it comes to proving herself or rebelling against percieved overprotectiveness by her mother other the other Dinos.
Jason is vulnerable to peer pressure. He wants to be popular and well liked, and can be goaded into going against his better judgement if he thinks he can impress others, particularly kids his own age or slightly older.
Kentra and Tyrannocopter are self-serving and dishonest, but they have  their virtues as well, Kentra has a sense of honor and draws the line at hurting the innocent with her scemes (with flexible definitions of ‘hurt’ and ‘innocent’.) Tyrannocopter dislikes seeing other creatures exploited and sometimes cannot be dissauded from “getting political” by Kentra. Dr. Cerebrotops is not a good person, but even he has a soft spot. Dr. Cerebrotops is a momma’s egg and respects mothers. He may not be friendly to them, but he withholds his insults, sarcasm and condescention when dealing with moms and other female caregivers, even human ones.
Gloria is possessed of a certainty bordering on megalomania.  She does what she feels is best for anyone, and does not feel the need to include those people in the discussion. The fact that she is very often right makes
No one, including Gloria, can tell if Gloria is doing the right thing for the wrong reasons, or the wrong thing for the right one.

Episode 3x06: The Academy
Damn, no Obi-Wan? :( Well, I guess Ahsoka there makes more sense but still I was rather looking forward to another ‘Obi-Wan and Satine’ episode. But, I’m glad I get to see Anakin again. And I love that we get another Ahsoka episode! :D
I already knew Anakin wouldn’t be staying, but I’m still disappointed that he has to go. lol, the expression on Anakin’s face when he’s telling Satine and co that he’s not staying is priceless. He looks so apologetic!
God, that cadet looks so eager when he asks Ahsoka if he can see her lightsaber (”That’s a fine weapon! May I see it?”). Unfortunately for him, off-worlders weapons can’t carry weapons on Mandalore because Obi-Wan caused trouble during his last visit there.
I lol at Ahsoka’s reaction:
Ahsoka: Master Obi-Wan caused trouble? That’s a first.
Anakin: Just give me the lightsaber.
Anakin then is reminded by a clone trooper (Rex?) that Kit Fisto is expecting them on the battlefield, and returns to the war. And with that Anakin’s part in the episode is over. At least, I think so. Who knows, maybe he’ll make a surprise appearance at the very end. I hope he does, but at the same time I think he won’t. :(
So, Ahsoka is left in charge of a group of impressionable cadets. Something tells me this is going to be very, very interesting... :’D
I love these cadets already. They ask so many questions:
“Does that mean all politicians are corrupt?”
“But if you don’t trust your leaders, isn’t that treason?”
Ahsoka: “It’s every citizen’s duty to challenge their leaders, to keep them honest, and hold them accountable if they’re not.”
Try telling that to the people of the Republic. Or better yet, the Jedi Council themselves. I know it’s not entirely their fault, but I find it so ironic that someone from the Republic is lecturing about how bad corruption is, since the Republic is so corrupt itself.
Random Cadet: “And how do you do that?”
Ahsoka: “By exposing corrupt officials for what they are. Lasting change can only come from within.”
Why do I have a feeling those cadets are going to take her words the wrong way... :/
Now the cadets are back in their room, hungry and tired of limited rations. Inspired by Ahsoka’s speech, they decide to go off and check whether there really is a food shortage. Goody! This is bound to end in some sort of trouble.
I’m really worried that the cadets will get into so much trouble over what they’re doing, but they are awesome to watch in action.
Female Cadet: “I have a bad feeling about this...”
So do I. :( I really hope that feeling is proven wrong...
Hmm, it sort of was... the cadets are spotted by some bad guys and manage to escape, but accidentally leave behind some tech thing that they’d brought along with them. Looks important. They realise that they’ve stumbled on something way bigger than they can handle on their own, and one guy (who actually had the idea to sneak into the warehouse) suggests that ask for help from ‘his aunt Satine’.
!!!!
I can’t believe it... Satine has a nephew! :D One who appears to be developing into a total badass like her.
ooh, his name’s Korki (sp?)!
So, off the cadets go to visit Satine. They tell her about what they found out, and Satine says that she’ll handle it and that they better go back to their studies. They’ll have a chance to save the world when they’re a little older. I know she means well, but I doubt they’ll actually listen to her. Just look at how determined they are to do something!
So... next stop: Ahsoka?
Okay, not Ahsoka. Korki suggests they go to the prime-minister (you know, that shady politician who didn’t give a damn about the suffering children of Mandalore last episode), because he’s known him his whole life and he always said to come to him if he’s in trouble. Like right now. The prime minister tells them to bring the recording to the black market deal (???) and all the cadets will know about it. I’m not sure how this will solve their problem, but okay...
I have a very bad feeling about this... :(
During their next lecture with Ahsoka, Ahsoka notices that Korki looks distracted. This leads to Korki admitting what the cadets have done.
I love the brown-haired female cadet’s explanation, because it’s so accurate: “We were hungry and decided to go look for food.”
Ahsoka is not impressed by what they said they’ve done, because they committed a crime by breaking into the warehouse. After hearing that they’re going to meet with the prime-minister about what they found, Ahsoka advises them to take it slowly, examine every fact and every person involved before they act. Sound advice. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the prideful Korki will listen to her.
When the group meets with the prime-minister, they are set up, and are only saved by Ahsoka, who jumps in and takes down the attackers like the awesome Jedi she is. Using a gadget, she identifies the man in the hologram as the prime-minister, and the cadets and Ahsoka run off to warn Satine about him.
When they get to Satine’s home, they see that they’re too late. Satine’s guards are dead and Satine is gone. Korki is guilt-ridden, believing that his aunt is now in danger because of him. With nowhere else to turn, the group goes to confront the prime-minister himself about what has happened.
And... wow. Ahsoka takes a page out of Anakin’s book and gets the cadets into the ‘inner sanctum’ (aka the prison) by handing them over to the prime minister as treasonous traitors. Ahsoka is definitely awesome in this episode. :’)
Unfortunately, the plan quickly falls apart, as Ahsoka is unable to find out from the prime minister where he’s placed Satine, and quickly falls into a trap when she tries to force the guards (via jedi-mind-trick) to take her to Satine. The prime-minister first threatens Satine (by torturing her via an electric collar), and then Satine’s nephew, in an attempt to make Satine sign a document labelling her as a treasonous traitor. Luckily, Ahsoka fights back just in time, and with the cadets’ help takes down the prime-minister and his guards. The way she puts that electric collar on the PM is beyond awesome. :D The PM is then imprisoned just like Satine was imprisoned.
Satine and her nephew hug afterward, which is sweet to see. :’)
      eeeh! :’) :’) Anakin’s back! :D I didn’t dare hope, but he appeared again!
aw, the way Anakin looks at Ahsoka is adorable! He looks so proud of her. :’) I love the way his eyes lit up at the sight of her. And lol, he’s so protective of her too. I think he felt that he should act a bit disapproving about the risks Ahsoka took, because he is her mentor and all and he also doesn’t want her recklessness to get her hurt. It’s clear to me by his half-smile at the end that he’s still proud of her and what she accomplished.
Anakin acting like a parent is just so, so adorable. :’) I want more of it!
And there’s this:
Anakin: “Sounds pretty risky. You’re lucky you didn’t get hurt.”
Ahsoka: “Nothing you wouldn’t have done.”
lol, that’s true! Anakin really shouldn’t be like that, considering he constantly does the same thing that Ahsoka did in this episode.
ugh, I so badly want to cuddle them both right now. They are cute beyond words. :’)
On another note, I don’t know if anyone else noticed how Anakin in one shot actually almost looked like the Anakin we saw in “The Padawan Path” in Forces of Destiny. Which is actually quite funny.
And there ends this episode. It was a truly awesome experience, and certainly better than the Obi-Wan/Satine thing I thought we’d be getting. And there was a sweet Anakin and Ahsoka moment at the very end. This is definitely one I’d recommend watching.

Gadget: So... You're like, one of our 501st uncles?
Echo: Yeah... I guess I am? At least I think I used to be...
Sucata: Does that mean we get to upgrade your crummy cybernetics?
Echo: Pardon?
Sucata: Ya heard me. Those right there? Those are absolute poodoo, you might as well be walking on flimsy sticks.
Gadget: Yeah, we could do way better than that. I'm thinking an actual hand, several hidden functions like the scomp-link and a blade, rocket propulsors on the feet, amphibian functions so you can go for a dip and not sink like a hunk of meat and durasteel...
Sucata: A new paint job too, those colours are lame. Talk about dark, broody and depressing...
Sponge: Don't scare off your uncle. He's got two broken ribs and a severe concussion, I don't want to have to get Beau to drag his shebs back inside if he bolts.
Gadget and Sucata: Sorry buir...
Echo: It's fine... They had me at rocket propulsors.
Gadget and Sucata: Heck yeah!

What do Gadget and Sucata look like?
Tumblr media
I have never actually drawn them properly besides the Tsum Tsum versions of them. Still, it's enough of an idea of what they look like I guess?
Note that Gadget's hoverchair isn't visible here and I am still trying to design it since she's personalised and upgraded it a lot to help her get around and defend herself in style.
But yeah, the girl with the cropped hair and the kid in the full body suit and aviator hat are the two little menaces that want to kit out Echo's cybernetics.

DIY Prosthesis
Summary: In which Echo gets a brand new arm.
[The Bad Batch Season 2 trailer doesn't inspire much hope for Echo ever getting a prosthetic arm like his Hot Toys figure does, so I'm taking matters into my own hands and handing off the ARC to the Spongelings.]
[THIS STORY IS NOW ON AO3]
---
"Ok so, you turn it like this... No not that way, like this! Yeah!"
"And then, and then you bend it at the wrist like that... Pretty simple right? And then, there it pops out just like that!"
"And then all you gotta do is jab it into the right port, do your thing, and you're in business!"
Sponge paused by the door as they listened in on the excited chatter. The disgruntled medic had been looking for their excitable ade all morning, the very last place they looked in being Gadget's and Sucata's workshop (which was actually a repurposed barn where they kept the speeders and other mechanical junk that the two cadets could tinker with).
The two DIY mechanics didn't get more than one or two of their siblings popping by on a regular basis but, from all the excited giggles and delighted gasps they could hear coming from within, Sponge could tell all 10 of their adiik were in the workshop.
"Cool right? Now you can use your right hand and also still splice!"
"The paint could do with a little work..."
"He can paint it after. First we gotta make sure it works alright and that the servos don't fire off at random like in the prototype stage."
"I think it's great... Thank you." A much older voice responded to the cadets, tone full of gratefulness.
Gadget and Sucata, bless their hearts, had been working nonstop to construct Echo a new arm. They'd been repulsed that no one had bothered to acquire him a better prosthetic than the burdensome scomp-link he'd had attached to his right arm stump for quite some time now.
It had taken many trips to the Big Heap to get all the parts necessary, but lo and behold it seemed they'd finally finished. After many a trial and many an error, they'd built an arm that hadn't immediately exploded or caught fire.
Peeking in from the crack of the door, Sponge observed as all their little ones crowded around the cybernetically enhanced clone. They all looked at him with beaming smiles. Gadget and Sucata looking especially proud of themselves.
In their eyes, none of their ba'vodu could do anything wrong. Not even Echo.
Sponge wondered if maybe one day they'd be able to be as forgiving as them, or if perhaps one day their little ones would be as jaded as they'd become...
They sincerely hoped not.
They hoped their adiik wouldn't ever be anything like them. The galaxy deserved better than that.

Note
I think given the circumstances Sponge did well for themselves and the cadets. Speaking of, can you tell me a little more about the cadets Sponge rescued? Why were they being decommissioned? Did no one notice them being gone? And why did no one stop Sponge from stealing the baby clones?
Spongelings ask! Spongelings ask! Spongelings ask!!!
I've been dying to talk about Sponge's ade'ika, so thank you Anon! This made my day :D
Ok so, when Order 66 hit it signalled the end of not just the Jedi Order but also the Jedi presence on Kamino. Without the Jedi to stop decommissionings and tubie processing, the whole Kaminoans believe in Eugenics thing got ramped back up to it's original status of YIKES.
Add to that the fact Tarkin wanted to end the usage of clones, and suddenly the Kaminoans are rushing to get rid of their "defective" batches to save-face.
Any disabled or "abnormal" clones, be they fully grown, cadet or tubie, were suddenly being rounded up for mass termination.
Sponge collected 10 cadets (all of which are 5 years old when they rescued them) who, by the standards of the Kaminoans, were slatted as unfit and to be decommissioned as soon as possible.
These cadets are:
Sixer - The de facto leader of the group, who's only flaw is being decanted with polydactyly. He has an extra finger on each hand, and that marked him as defective.
Patchwork and Ragdoll - A set of tube-twins that, due to a rather traumatic event during their training, have developed a serious case of separation anxiety. It's bad to the point they cannot function without having the other's presence nearby. Ragdoll identifying as female also marked her as mentally defective.
Cartoons - Suffers from overstimulation very easily due to being on the autistic spectrum. This makes him not only unfit to be deployed, but also makes it hard for him to be trained in general.
Bonesy - A visually impaired albino clone with a rather sour attitude towards authority figures. Her rebellious nature and very visible "aberrations" marked her as wholly unfit to be deployed.
Sucata - A non-binary clone with OCD. The reason behind Sucata being set up for decommissioning is still very questionable, as their OCD could be troublesome but not enough that it made them live a dysfunctional life. It might be that they were just widely disliked by their Trainers and the Kaminoans as well, for some unknown reason...
Leech - He suffers from Iron Deficiency Anemia, which the Kaminoans just couldn't be bothered to treat with supplements in his meals.
Gadget - Out of all of the cadets in this ragtag group, Gadget's tale is a tragic one. She suffered a severe spinal injury during a training exercise and was refused medical treatment by the Trainer overseeing it. This ended in her not only being permanently paralysed, but also slatted her for termination as well.
Spore - She suffered a connective tissue degenerative disease post-decanting which took her hearing permanently. Rather than supplementing her with hearing-aids, the Kaminoans decided it was best to simply terminate her.
Amoeba - He's force sensitive. That alone set him up for death on Kamino. He's also selectively mute.
Sponge's ade'ika are quite the diverse cast for clones, and they have a lot of personality. Even so, they weren't missed when they suddenly turned up missing in their cells. Good riddance to that problem am I right?
As for stealing the tubies... That took a little more work. The tubies became a lot more coveted by the Kaminoans once the Empire rose to power, and they weren't about to let some rogue medic walk away with 5 perfectly fine clone babies.
Luckily the Bad Batch's first escape from Kamino was enough of a distraction to allow Sponge and their new ade'ika to slink away unnoticed...
