psst hey, partially a headcanon question, but also iust a general one: like, what the fuck is up with the bounty hunter. why is he like that
LMAO I’m assuming you mean “what is up with Bounty Hunterbeing all stoic and shit, why is he like that?” so that’s what I’m gonna focuson in this post.
Also, let me preface this by saying I 100% subscribe to @cynthplop’s BH face headcanon. I didn’t really have any solid ideas as to his personality or background before we started sharing headcanon theories, so this is basically her interpretation, and she’s given me permission to post this and use some of her art on her behalf!
(I do have an Alternate Backstory for him that I’ll focus on in another post, but if you wanna learn more about Cyn’s specific take, you should definitely go send her some asks, too!)
Tardif was born in England and is half-Turkish on his father’s side. His father (Hilmi) was a bounty hunter who came to the country on a mission, but lost track of his target. He fell in love with a woman named Calantha, whom he married, and once his son was born, Hilmi was determined to leave his old life behind.
But his former employer put a bounty on his head for failing to complete his mission, and Hilmi was murdered not long after Tardif was born. He grew up only hearing stories of his father and seeing his face in half-finished sketches. Calantha never spoke much about his father’s former profession, not wanting her son to follow the same path.
When Tardif was around ten years old, his mother became ill and passed away. If the authorities learned he was an orphan, he would be sent to the workhouse, so Tardif decided to take his chances on the streets. While scrounging through his mother’s belongings, he discovered a locked box under her bed containing Hilmi’s helmet and hand axe. He could only surmise that his father was a former soldier or mercenary. He took his father’s tools of the trade and left his home, living the mean life of a vagrant and resorting to odd jobs and petty thievery to survive.
It wasn’t long before he met a local barmaid by the name of Marina, who took pity on Tardif and decided to look after him as best she could. She tried to recommend honest work, but opportunities were few and far between for a boy without any serviceable skills, and his mixed heritage and lack of patronage kept him out of any apprenticeships for local guild work.
Reluctantly, Marina recommended he work as a delivery boy for the local mafia. The tavern was a favored meeting spot for the local crime lord, so she had the connections to get him a job offer. As he grew older, he started filling out to a rather intimidating stature, so he quickly leveled-up from petty delivery boy to hired muscle. He picked up a few tricks of the trade from his fellow enforcers, such as pugilism, and learned to read people at a glance.
It wasn’t until he was around 17-18 that he dedicated himself to the life of a bounty hunter. Marina had been under pressure for years to become the local crime lord’s arm candy, but she continued to rebuff his advances because she was not-so-secretly in love with Tardif. One day Crime Lord had enough, and he had her whacked while Tardif was working a job in another city. Knowing full well that Tardif would seek revenge on him, Crime Lord withdrew his protection and had a bounty placed on Tardif’s head.
Knowing he lacked the skills and the means to take his vengeance, Tardif fled the city and dedicated himself to honing the skills of his trade. It would be several years before he would be able to start checking off all the names on his Vengeful Kill List, but Tardif is nothing if not patient.
So, with that being said, there’s a good reason why he’s all stoic and shit. His life as a bounty hunter has exposed him to the ugliest aspects of humanity, and one thing he encounters time and time again is just how often people will lie to save their own skins. Hardened criminals who have committed unspeakable atrocities for years and years, suddenly they promise to turn over a new leaf and never do anything bad again if he agrees to let them go? Horseshit, all of it.
If there’s one thing Tardif has learned in this life, it’s that words alone are hollow, paltry things. A man should be judged by his actions, and Tardif is the poster child for this philosophy. The reason he maintains the stoic façade is because he’s used to being surrounded by hypocrites who talk a big game but never follow through. If Tardif has something to say, he’ll say it in as few words as possible and get straight to the point, no pussyfooting around. He’s direct and efficient in everything, and this may come off as rude to those with more delicate sensibilities or better social graces.
Another reason for his lack of barks is that he’s just not very witty. This is by no means an insult to his intelligence – he’s far from stupid, even if he lacks a proper education – but he’s certainly no Spider-Man, able to engage in verbal repartee with his opponent, cramming ten clever insults into a single sentence. While the enemy is wasting time monologuing, he’s just gonna get up in their face and suckerpunch them; wham, bam, thank you ma’am!
I think he and William get along quite easily, given that they follow similar professions, and both have been jaded by the injustices they’ve seen perpetrated by powerful men who think themselves above the law. They also synergize well in battle, each of them being experts at hunting and tracking. He also gets on well with Margaret and Missandei for those same reasons, but especially Margaret, given their shared enthusiasm for the hunt and the thrill of the chase itself. They both get a little *too* enthused when they’re Afflicted…
It should be noted that his mask is based on an owl motif, which is fitting since owls are known to be silent and efficient hunters. He also relies heavily upon his mask to conceal his expression because it takes a lot of effort on his part to maintain a good poker face, and he can’t let the enemy take advantage of that.

I don’t want people to go looking for it despite my warnings - and make no mistake, I was as deliberately vague as I was because even listing the warnings would warrant a readmore - and end up Severely Regretting it, for whichever of the many possible reasons for that there are
I have a non-zero amount of people under 18 following me, and it genuinely is that bad about the unexpected NSFW

Why was this movie bullshit? I remember I watched it like 6 years ago in middle school in class and if I remember correctly it was just talking about how unhealthy it can be to live off of McDonald’s, and how unhealthy there food can be if you have to much of it and brought attention to the obesity issues in the United states
It was bullshit because not only was it a bullshit premise (eating literally nothing but McDonalds to try and simulate people who eat fast food often when that’s a world of difference) but like...it’s known he flat out lied and manipulated it. He had been living a vegan diet and didn’t disclose that so his body had negative reactions to eating the meat at all that he tried to pass as just part of what would happen if you ate like that. Nobody has been able to replicate it which also makes it bad science

I have joked that Tardif is secretly a werewolf while Margaret desperately wishes she was one! She’s got those two lines when going Vigorous: “I am like a wolf, following tirelessly, waiting for weakness!” and “I am honoured to have you as pack mates!”
Either that, or they’re just a couple of furries trying to live their best life in this shithole Hamlet, and honestly? I love and support them in all their endeavors.
