A funny detail about Cloak & Swaggart
A common misconception spread around regarding the episode "Cloak & Swaggart" is that Rupert is the theft when in actuality-
he's isn't. While Rupert is definitely not above such petty actions like thievery. In this case, he's very much innocent.
-OKAY OKAY PUT YOUR TOMATEOS DOWN! I KNOW HE'S BRITISH! Stop booing at me! BUT YOUR HONOUR!
My client is innocent of this specific instance.
(Read more below)
In "Cloak and Swaggart" our favourite Girlboss duo go out partying after Splinter and his boys are off "camping".
They are having the time of their lives, simply gals being pals.Yet something disastrous happens on girl's night leading to being the driving force of today's misadventure.
Sunita's Brooch is stolen by a mysterious assailant.
We know the thief of identity is unknown by judging the shape of their hand.
One could argue that this was an animation decision made by the team to make the twist a little more fun but this makes no sense from a narrative standpoint.
Mr Loose Lips can't be the thief because
A) look at his hands
B) He isn't a Yokai or a mutant- he's never seen dawning a brooch indicating he may have an alternative form.
Rupert can't be the thief because The Pigman has an alibi. This alibi is confirmed by Mr loose lips himself.
"Look kid, my clients suspect a certain level of discretion. Yea' think I'm just gonna tell yea that the brooch was bought by some big guy with a thick neck and an upturned nose an' paper hat, on his way to channel 6 ln a late-model charcoal grey stretch limousine?"
If Rupert was the theft, then why would he bother showing up to Mr loose lips in the first place? it makes no sense.
Even if we were to entertain the idea that this was a commission's work- it still wouldn't make sense.
Rupert Swaggert in this regard, is innocent. He had no clue that the brooch belonged to someone else upon buying it. Keep in mind, that the British bastard had never met April or Suntia before this.
This makes the Episode even MORE funnier when you look through his lenses.
He can return to his old career which he suddenly lost due to his mutation. He finally found the means to take back his old life but within ONE DAY- Rupert was harassed by two teenagers, whom he had never met before EVER in his life. (then nearly got eaten by some yanks)
From his perspective: He got robbed by some teens- for no reason
Before I close this off.
I worry that some folks take away from the post is me shifting the blame onto April and Suntia which... no, I'm not. They're well within their right to take back a family heirloom which belongs to Sunita.
besides They're TEENAGERS.
Do you think April gonna go over to a known dangerous mutant and be like "Ermm, can we have that brooch back? " OF COURSE NOT. don't be insane. These girls deserve a crown.
What I'm doing is pointing out the hilarity of this scenario.
We are all familiar with who Rupert is. He's an oversized porky jackass that has no problem committing extreme acts for his own benefit.
We are SO used to his shittiness that putting "stealing from teenage girls" on his list of crimes wouldn't be out of the question.
The only thing is... he didn't commit that here.
Dude tried to get his old job back only to have some teenager mess with his life again. he never met them and to his knowledge, the Brooch was something he purchased.
So the Verdict?
Rupert is innocent in regards to Suntia's stolen brooch
As for everything else? all his other crimes?
Guilty. Put this man away your honour.
case closed

ROTTMNT details I love pt. 5
BONUS ROUND!
Stuff that isn’t background art or text, but I noticed noticed in my rewatch and wanna highlight.
-
In Big Mama’s office, you can see one of Splinter’s keys to the Hidden City
Specifically, it appears to be one of Splinter’s keys because it bears the Hamato family crest, implying it’s some sort of heirloom that he gifted to her. And, since she obviously has means to access the city, it seems she’s keeping it out of sentimentality.
Splinter has won a Golden Globe
When making dummies of all of them, Donnie makes sure to give Mikey’s the smiley face kneepads
They are IMPORTANT.
Draxum’s magic has a purpley pixelated look to it, very similar to Donnie’s mystic powers
Like father, like son.
In Cloak and Swaggart, Mrs. Cuddles can briefly be seen in the tv studio
And regular size, so it seems the live studio audiences are keeping her contained.
April’s lazer tag suit has stripes along the thighs mimicking Leo’s
Sunita wears the armor over her normal shirt and leggings, so presumably April just has this custom made combat suit. I love her.

rise Donnie and affection
@smudged-kaleidoscopeI can't believe I forgot abt my lil rants but here's the first one! Sorry I took SO LONG (◞‸◟ㆀ)ˢᵒʳʳʸ
EITHER WAY I'm going to talk about thingz about their personality, and Rise Donnie is up first! So I realized that out of all the brothers, Mikey and Raph seem to be the most affectionate, and I could just not be paying attention, but I don't remember Leo giving that much affection to them..
So despite a lot of stuff that says Leo is overly affectionate and clingy and Donnie hates it,that might not be true and Donnie might like it more than Leo!
However, there are a few things that suggest Donnie doesent want to be touched. He'd rather give than receive. Constantly Raph has told him it's not a hug, but a rescue, showing that Donnie doesent like hugs for extended periods of time or at least, doesent like surprise ones.
However, in multiple episodes(For Example, Hot Soup:The Game) he's seen giving affection to his brothers, even with limited touch, or just not giving it for a long time, he does it to make them satisfied or for himself(Like In Purple Game), and it can also be noticed he knows what type of physical affection people/objects like, seen with Shelldon in Cloak and Swaggart!
And now, affection isn't only physical. It's also shown through words and actions!
Despite Donnie's apathy, he spends a lot of time with his brothers/family in general, is shown to be upset when ignored(Mind Meld), or even being desperate for his fathers attention(Can't remember the ep, but it's the one where they enter the Demolition Derby)
As much as he pushz people away, he also shows his affection through other things! I mean, we can look at all the stuff he does throughout the lair! He even makes all of their devices, and they could always just buy/steal them, but nope, he makes them for them!Even just random things they'd enjoy(Like the Tennis Ball Massage in smart lair, despite it being short lasting)
And in his words! In one episode he tells Raph he loves him when Raph asks about his Taxi car idea, in another he picks Splinter up out of joy, Making the gifts(out of good intentions), etc...
It seems more like Donnie struggles with emotional aspects, but that doesent mean he doesent care! He is extremely affectionate, just shows it in different ways, big or small

I will forever be disappointed at the absolute lack of Mikey and Leo episodes in rise, I can literally only think of 2 off the top of my head, but I love the fact that they show the relationship in other, more subtle ways. What do I mean? I’m so glad you asked, MIKEY COPIES A LOT OF LEOS CATCHPHRASES AND MANNERISMS AND IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME THANK YOU
Okay so. I agree with you 110% that we need more of Leo and Mikey. They have the sweetest relationship and I love the way Mikey mirrors Leo. He copied so much of his big brother and I hope to highlight that relationship soon.
However!
This ask for me thinking about which brothers got the most screen time. So I made this.
A comprehensive list of all the episode. Listed by what relationship is highlighted. If one stands out more then the others I have set them to the side as a focus.

Mystery Meat (2,7b) (April)
Hidden City's Most Wanted (2,9a) (Splinter)
You will notice that Leo gets the most solo episodes by himself. Normally this is when he is with Señor Hueso and we see Leo growing into himself
Donnie has a lot of episodes focused on him but he can’t stand on his own his story is driven by his relationships
Raph is almost never alone and has one episodes where it is just him and one of his brothers. But it focuses on them helping April not thei relationship to each other.
Donnie and Leo never have an episode alone! They have the one where they are helping April but it isn’t focused on them and their relationship.
Raph and Leo never stand alone (we get two one when they are facing off and one where they are working together)
Mikey and Raph never get an episode (and we were going to get one!)
Raph and Donnie are never together (they have one episode where they play against each other and one where they are with each other) never a solo episode.
So while I agree we need more Mikey and Leo we also need more of all of them together and paired off. There was so much more this show could have done if they only had time.
