- this opening bit is so pretty: bright with birds singing. And the detail of the reflection in the mirror? lovely. But this is a resident evil production so it goes horribly wrong

- Back to chaos: Shenmai is interesting and I don’t know what to make of her... Leon is great but personally listening to Jason’s tangent right now I would be calling it in and asking for a therapist and expecting bad things coming

Another crazy thing is Julie Plec saying Bonnie is too good for Kol and that he's too evil for her, then pairing him with a white witch.... (no hate to Davina, but if he's irredeemable for Bonnie, then he’d irredeemable for Davina, too)
It's crazy because she also paired Bonnie with Enzo, a vampire who if I'm not wrong did abuse/kinda terrorize her friends, maybe not to the extent Klaus or Damon did but regardless (only if my memory serves me right; I don't remember much from Enzo, hence why I'm currently rewatching season five.)
Kol literally killed Davina and we're supposed to buy he's the better choice for her? Whether you're mind controlled or not, having your blood sucked out of your body by your boyfriend would leave a scarr for sure and the fact that Davina never got any trauma from it is insane. Bonnie went through worse stuff every season, of course, but she was never allowed to show any emotion onscreen, especially if it was against her white friends.
Saying Bonnie is "too pure" or has "too strong morals" to be with any Mikaelson or Salvatore is just stupid and clearly wrong. Elena and Caroline hated Damon and Klaus, until they didn't, it's easy to see women are being constantly retconned to fit into this shows storylines yet no one ever bats an eye until it comes to the main black woman from The Vampire Diaries.
And this isn't just with romances either. Fans believe Bonnie would hate Rebekah, when there isn't literally any proof to corroborate this and they haven't even interacted, they think she would hate Hope for being a Mikaelson when Bonnie has never been that kind of person. They're desperate to prove she's an anti vampires or generally a prude simply because she's traumatized and rightfully so. She decides to not be nice to the Salvatore brothers in season one after they got her grandmother killed and she's turned into some sort of supervillain because of it.
If Bonnie's actress had been white, I'm pretty sure her character and bloodline would have been in Mikaelson level by the show and fandom.

My theory is that James – with his conscience and autonomy – can be brought back at least temporarily if the unicorn horn is used again. I believe it would be painful, as James would be struggling with both the compulsions from wearing the collar and the compulsions caused by the horn. It would be an absolute internal struggle, but I bet he would prefer it that way if he had the chance to say it, to live it, to tell Will what he's thinking, feeling, etc. truly.

Waiting for the new season of The Bear and thinking about Sydney Adamu🥰. When season 1 ended I thought what an incredible show full of great relationships, friendships and found familie. Syd and Tina 💞 Tina and Ebraheim, Rich and Carmy, the Berzattos brothers, Syd and Marcus... But about Syd and Carmy, I didn't get it, it didn't seem like a friendship, a partnership for sure (especially at the end) but I thought the authors wanted to leave it open, which might be interesting to see, like reconciling personal life and the restaurant (Jimmy says that Carmy's father had the restaurant and took Donna to work there and everything went wrong, so I thought if this had something to do with them🤔, and there was all camera shots and angles and soundtrack) like, a romance was the only thing the show didn't have and I thought the authors were very good at talking about relationships so it would be interesting to see were this could go, i trusted them you know?! (There was Nat and Pete but I didn't know if they were going to put more of them and I'm glad they did because they 🥰 There was Richie and Syd too, I mean they had a lot of tension😅 I see the sydrichie vision but one thing we knew about him is that he is the father of a girl and about Syd is that she was a dad's girl and I didn't want any dad issues for my girl😂).
Then I see that the authors said they wanted to write a story without romance and I'm like ok, I get it, that's it, i got it wrong, forget it. But then season 2 started and they introduce a new character for a super cliché romantic arc! I remember that before the episodes were released, a review said the new season was excellent despite some cheesiness and mentioned the scene where Claire says "you're the bear and I remember!" I thought, how could this show be cheesy and then I watched it and remembered that critic because, don't get me wrong, Claire is great and they have a lot of chemistry, but the scenes with her felt very cringe. It was like watching a cliché romance in the middle of a show that is not cliché at all on the contrary, and then I see the authors saying that they wanted that exactly, especially ep 5, to be like a classic romantic comedy! Like why?!
Anyway, not satisfied, they always put Syd in the middle of Carmy's scenes with Claire. And if they wanted it to look like she was working hard and he wasn't, there was a better way to do it without looking like she was jealous. Like, right at the beginning, after cook and chat with Syd, Carmy receives a call from Claire and at the end she asks if Fak is his best friend. There was no need for this emphasis but they made a point of saying Fak is Carmy's best friend (and throughout the series we see that he is, he really encourages Carmy and has been with him for a long time). Is not Syd, and we see that Carmy isn't even a good partner and they might not be that close (he didn't even know about her mother, or she didn't feel comfortable talking to him anyway) That's why I don't feel these two are the bffs or platonic partners like everyone says, partners, yes, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Then when they are discussing the menu she complains about Claire's participation (fairly since with Syd, his CDC, he postponed the matter) and in the end she says that he has to decide if she is a friend or a girlfriend and it feels so strange cause they dont seem that kind of friends, it felt weird when she said, it sound like a Fak and Rich thing. Then she literally has to explain that it wasn't jealousy but concern for the restaurant... Anyway, there was a way to do all this without seeming jealous or bummer, It was professionalism but nooooo, they had to put Claire/Carmy relationship against Syd /Carmy/restaurant.
And not satisfied, the authors, who didn't want romance, put Marcus into Syd (and that was a friendship that was super cool, talking shit about the chef and all) and later, after receiving a no, he raises his voice against her in front of everyone, he who is super calm (and at this point almost everyone in this kitchen has already disrespected Syd at least once and he was the one who was nice) and it is difficult to root for them as a couple, not to mention that if he loses his mother and they bond over it, after so many cool things between them, it seems so depressing (like welcome to the dead mom club!😬)
Oh! There was also the montage that showed her tattoo, in the middle of Carmy and Claire scenes! If they were going to show Syd dumping Marcus later, why not show him in the scenes too or something (he was in the beginning of it), then it would be like the meaning of the Three of Swords was that she had her heart closed to any romance, you know, and not just "treason". And Carmy's anxiety attack that could show his "best friend" and Rich in a suit, Tina and everything good that was happening at the restaurant, but no! And with Claire/Carmy song playing.
And the authors said they put Carmy in the freezer just to give Syd a chance to shine... and wow, how wrong that went! It was perfect to close Rich's arc and even his relationship with Syd (in the end he was the partner that Syd expected from Carmy) but for her?! I wanted her to have the attitude she learned from the book and to be more firm, Rich could be part of it no problems, but with her in charge, more confident (like I wish she would knock on that door and tell Carmy to shut up when he wouldn't stop screaming from inside the freezer!) But she seemed like just another chef in the kitchen with Rich in charge, no?
All i am saying is I hope they know where they are going with Syd, she is a great character, with personality and deserves more than to be in the middle of a couple, or put her in a relationship just cause. Also Ayo switched to lead actress so I expected more from the character, Syd deserves to shine!!! Like she also deserves "amusement or enjoyment" and all that but I don't know, now i understand those who say that romance would ruin the show, this thing with Carmy and his relationship was really boring to watch (sorry Carmy, I swear I'm rooting for you). I'm more excited to see more of her with Tina and Naty than anything else, really. And she had her dream of having her restaurant with her food, the best food! and now she have it, but it's Carmy's restaurant, with his family, and their nickname, and almost all of his menu (which was hardly discussed with her), and probably her name it's not even in the documents...and I have no idea what the next season will be like, which is cool! But i am anxious🥲
And i'm kind stuck in season 1, the yellow light, the characters... like the bad thing about adding new characters to a new season of any series is that I don't tend to care about them as much. I wanted to know more about the OGs, you know?! Ebraheim and Tina (her son!), Gary and the dishwashers (they barely showed up!) and Rich, Syd, Naty of course! Like if there's more of Claire with Carmy I get it but I don't wanna know more about her friend, or Fak's brothers and there are a lot of new employees too of course, and i dont care about them sorry😭 like I hope they focus on the OGs and give them more screen time and not for newbies.
This was not going to be this long but this show 😅🥰😭!!!

Rika has just been through hell and back, yet Clair's tone holds no sympathy for the visitor huddled in Blackthorn's secluded garden. Koraidon merely receives an icy glance as the miffed Gym Leader strides right by him, looming over Rika with clenched fists.
Tempestuous. Impulsive. Exhausted.
"Your Garchomp is still lounging near the Den. And now this--" she hisses through clenched teeth, pausing to gesture wildly in Koraidon's general direction, "--whatever this is, out in the open here. The Elders are furious. If those old bags see a non-Dratini dragon within city limits, they panic--and who do you think they blame? I just spent a full eternity getting my head bitten off because of you. Gods. Can you at least try to observe the customs while you're here?"
Deep breaths. The initial spike of anger begins to fade, and Clair's fingers fly to her temples, massaging them in an attempt to finally rein herself back in. If the heiress was less exasperated, perhaps she would have noticed the true extent of Rika's injuries and backed off. Perhaps she would have had more patience and grace reserved for their first-ever meeting together.
Instead, Clair had offered up a full serving of misdirected attitude, ice, and thunderstorms. The dragon's temper, flaring up once again.

I’ve never really understood Kanaya <> Karkat. Like, they get along, but, uh, I don’t think they get along thaaaat well. In fact, I don’t really think it’s clear that they even really knew each other that well before Sgrub. They wound up doing the frog breeding, but Karkat fucked that up by being an asshole and thereby created a whole ThingTM for Kanaya to emotionally work through. By the time Meteorstuck gets underway, they’re basically the only trolls who haven’t either completely lost it, formed a diamonds pair with Vriska Serket, or to be Vriska Serket. Even before that, they’re the most sane trolls who still give a shit. All of this is to say that I think their friendship is mostly predicated on, like, being in the same place, doing the same thing, and staying sane enough to not become Vriska’s moirail or snap and kill more than one person.
MOREOVER
Kanaya’s whole thing is being the Mom FriendTM. And I say that with a completely straight face. She and the other trolls literally don’t have a hermeneutic for understanding a friend who cares unconditionally (or at least tries to) for more than one person. This is why she is always falling into clubs and why she found being Vriska’s moirail so frustrating. She wants to care for her friends but since the troll relational framework demand that care work be done by one specific troll per quadrant, they cannot help but try to understand her motivations through that framework. In forcing Kanaya and Karkat’s relationship into the pale quadrant, we wind up doing the same thing. There is care there, but it’s a human like, maternal care, not a pale one.
MOREOVER
I don’t like the implication — however unintentional — that Kanaya ought to fill a role that demands she do the emotional labour of regulating a man’s emotions. 1. Kanaya wouldn’t fucking do that. She doesn’t do it for Eridan (despite him ostensibly being dangerous in a way that might otherwise appeal to her if he was, say, a woman) and she sure as fuck doesn’t do it for Gamzee. Sure, she doesn’t really like those two, but when it becomes clear that fulfilling that role for them could save lives, she instead decides that killing them would be a better option. By contrast, she is immediately and obviously draw to Vriska and Rose, who she also refuses to pacify in favour of *checks notes* trying to hitt that. Karkat is neither dangerous enough to be put down nor female enough to be worth pailing. Given that her instinct with men in need of pacifying is pretty CUT and DRY (hehe), I just refuse to believe she’d willingly put herself into a relationship that would demand that of her, especially with someone she actually kinda respects. 2. I have said before and I will say again, Kanaya’s relational arc is one of rejecting troll relational frameworks in favour of human ones. By the end, she self consciously sees herself as a maternal figure for the troll species. She still uses troll terms to describe her relationship with Rose (although she does this in what could be argued is a facetious manner), the relationship she’s actually describing is both and neither red and pale. It’s more of a human love than a troll one.
MOREOVER
Come on guys, Vriska even says that Karkat and Dave’s relationship is unintelligible to her. Karkat and Dave have the same kind of relationship that Kanaya and Rose do! It’s pale and red and neither and both! That’s, uh, *checks notes* the point of Meteorstuck! The relational frameworks that the kids and the trolls are habituated to breakdown as their oppressive constraints breakdown in favour of frameworks that work in situ for the sad, broken teens who inhabit them. Even Vriska and Terezi don’t seem to have a conventional diamonds-ship. Vriska, obviously the troll who would need to be pacified, has largely pacified herself through the sublimation of her drive to win and a newfound sense of duty to her friends. Terezi, rather than be a reliable pacifier is more of an emotional mess in need of comfort, a position that has no place in the old framework.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED
Idk, I just don’t see it.
