The ending of Lost had to be crazy from an in-world public perspective.
So a passenger plane goes missing in the Pacific. A little while later they find the wreckage at the bottom of the ocean. No survivors- tragic. But then, a couple months after the crash a few survivors suddenly turn up out of nowhere. A crazy, dramatic survival story.
Then. A few years later, another plane goes missing under similar circumstances. A little surprising that it happened again, and so soon but not that weird. These things happen. But then it comes out that you know those famous survivors of the first crash? The Oceanic Six? They were also on this flight. Yeah, all of them (except the baby). Maybe someone also finds out that the pilot of this flight was scheduled to fly that first plane. And maybe they find out that one of the Oceanic Six bought out as many of the seats on the plane as he could. All very weird.
And THEN. That second plane reappears after a few weeks. Except the plane is trashed, and all the original passengers are gone (presumed dead) except for one, who is one of the Oceanic Six. AND they've somehow picked up four NEW passengers who were not on the plane in the first place, and those four are the weirdest part because you have:
- a professional psychic who went missing years ago (or was presumed dead in a freighter explosion)
- a guy with no verifiable citizenship in any country, no id, no birth certificate, no drivers license
- two more survivors of the first plane crash who were previously declared dead
There is no cover story they could come up with that would completely satisfy people and you know that there have to be conspiracy theories that one or more of the Oceanic Six crashed both planes.

Okay listen. I cannot get over the fact that the reason Henry Gale was so convincingly pathetic at first is because they did not tell Michael Emerson who he was playing. LIKE. KJSLJGSDssjlJSG

What he said: Btw earlier I pretended to kill this rabbit in front of you to cruelly manipulate you into thinking we implanted something to explode your heart if you tried to escape
What I heard: Look at my pet bunny, his name is Eight and I carry him around in my satchel

i have so much love for the ending of Lost. they said despite the suffering you went through together, your time with these people was the most important thing in your lifetime. here’s a chance to fully experience it again without the pain, sorry it had to be like this the first time<3

Lost characters can, for the most part, be split into two groups: skeptics and believers. And it was a stroke of genius to put the legitimate psychic who legitimately hears dead people firmly into the skeptic group and leave him there.

I was trying to understand why Thistle and his relationship with Falin had such a death grip on me and then I remembered about ANOTHER thousands of years old trickster who started out with good intentions but got punished for wanting too much, created an inescapable liminal death labyrinth. Then the person he grew up with used all of his energy to bring people from the outside to destroy him. Then his only significant friend and ally in 1000 years is a 20something lesbian who lost part of her humanity.......
So kneel before Smokey, Island Master, The Man of Many Forms, and his seagull chimera Claire Littleton
