FAIRY OF SHAMPOO ✧ bunny duo unite

summary: soobin found his own fairy of shampoo. the one that makes him smile whenever they show up on screen, and even manages to brighten up his day whenever he's upset. but this feels a little familiar, isn't it? he hopes it won't be like the song they released. he wants to be able to face the fairy that casted a spell on him without the screen between them.

You sat down in front of the phone, your face inches away from the screen as you tried to read every single comment. But to no avail the auto scroll was too fast and eventually you gave up reading everything.

"Photo time? Okay, last photo time before I go!"

You backed away until you could see your whole body on the screen, you sat with your legs crossed on the floor and did several different poses. A peace sign, apple heart, and bunny ears using your whole hand on each side of your head. A giggle escaped your lips when you caught a comment from one of your members.

"It's not cringe when I'm doing it! And I'm not an old lady," you rolled your eyes, "just because I'm the oldest doesn't mean I'm ancient."

The comments were panicking and having a field day from your poses. Most of them were calling you cute and half were crying emojis. An amused smile curled on your lips, you've done your part and they found you cute. Does he think you're cute, too? You lowered your gaze and remained quiet. The soft humming of the centralized air-conditioner filled the room. Why were you even thinking about him at this time? It could've been later when you're not live and thousands could see your expression right now. The last thing you want is for Bunnies to get worried about you.

The sound of the door opening snapped you out of your thoughts. You turned your head to the door behind you, and thankfully whoever walked in couldn't be seen on the screen.

"Oh shi— I'm so sorry," his voice, however, was loud enough for them to hear.

Your eyes widened when he locked eyes with you. He was panicking and wasn't sure what to do as he stood there on the side frozen. You gave him a thumbs up and a reassuring smile before turning back to the screen.

"I'll see you guys later! And yes, I promise that I'll post later for the ones saying that I've been inactive." You waved your hand and used your free hand to press the end live button. The screen displayed the total watchers you had and the hearts you got throughout the past two hours.

"All set. You're free to roam the room!" You took the phone from the stand and turned it off. You plan to give it to one of the staff later on.

Soobin took a brief glance at you before he made his way to the bundle of bags from across the room. You watched him from the center of the practice room with a small smile. The shuffling of duffle bags and your calm breathing filled the room, his sneakers squeaking ever so often as he turned to fetch another pair of shoes from below the speakers.

There was nothing but silence, but the both of you preferred the comfort in the stillness of the room.

The sound of paper tearing made you look at him with confusion across your face. You walked over to where he was but not close enough that you could bump into him, instead you reached for your bag and arranged the clothes you used for practice. You tried to take a peek at what he was doing, but his height alone cannot be conquered. You couldn't look over his shoulders nor do you have the ability to see what he was writing anyway.

Once he was finished, he placed the pen down. He let out a breath before turning to face you, clearing his throat to get your attention. "Can we exchange numbers? It's okay if you don't want to, that's absolutely fine with me—"

"Yeah, sure!" You cut him off.

How could you say no when he's so adorable. He was so nervous, too. The look of shock remained on his face as you tore a piece of paper from the notebook, you wrote your number and other info before turning to face him.

You extended your hand, "here's mine." He took the paper from your hand as you did the same.

Soobin felt like he was dreaming. It was as if he was standing on clouds and that one wrong step could make him fall and wake up from this dream. It was that easy, yet he had to do drastic measures like shoving paper in your sandwich. But it was Beomgyu's idea and it didn't work. If only he knew confronting you about exchanging numbers was this easy he could've done it way earlier.

The note you gave him has your number and a cute little doodle of a bunny right next to a short note. It says 'bunny duo unite.'

You're so cute.

"Thank you," you let out a light laugh, "you are too."

Soobin's ears were flushed red. He couldn't believe he just said that out loud and in front of you on top of that. The warmth spreads throughout his cheeks to the back of his neck, he wants to hide away from you. Why do you do this to him? The effect you have on him is dangerous. The urge to pinch your cheeks was strong, he wants to hug you and shower you with kisses so bad. He wants to be with you and see you smile. He wants to be the reason why you're smiling. You're his sunshine, his fairy of shampoo.

"I… uh, have to keep going. I still have practice with the others. I'll see you." Soobin gave you a shy smile, his dimples visible as he did so.

You watched as he grabbed his things and quickly made his way towards the door, and once the door was closed you collapsed on the floor. Your legs felt like it was giving up and it felt like it was jelly the whole time you talked to the blond. You swear that you stopped breathing for a moment when he was near you. A deep sigh escaped you, closing your eyes as you tried to calm yourself.

Your heart was pounding against your chest. If he was close enough, he could possibly hear the pounding of your heart and it would only double your embarrassment. The feign confidence was only a show so that he wouldn't feel like he was doing something wrong.

Now, you have to get home and tell the others about this. And surely they're going to be proud of you.

How dare you; disrupt Part-Time Perfect's chance of being the one and only. How dare you; try to make your way into being the face of the school next to him, after being someone he watched from afar for years?

you two sat outside the hospital, sitting on one of the benches near a garden where many patients sat, watching the huge fountain hum lazily. the night was growing on, stars twinkling in the sky as the both of you absorbed the night.

"you seriously didn't have to," soobin was protesting, stacks of completed homework answers in his hand as he stared at you with his pleading eyes, "y/n, I can't take this!"

"why not?" you only pushed it back into his hands, "you're the only one who doesn't beg me for homework answers. you kind of deserve it."

"but..." his voice trailed off after he noticed the heavy stack of answers had little doodled hearts and sea animals on the corners, and instead, he broke into a laugh. "thank you."

something about your little additions to what you gave him warmed him from the inside. he found himself just staring at you, going dumb in the head while the reflection of the moon peered onto your features.

you only hummed in response, staring at the night sky as the wind blew your hair into your mouth. "ugh!" you exclaimed.

soobin just giggled underneath his breath, watching you ruffle your hair and settle them down. every strand you touched curled between your fingers. he wanted to know what it felt, maybe, just maybe, to run his hands through your hair, to listen to you breathe against his chest. he wanted to know what it felt to match each others breathing, to hold hands and dissolve in each other's warmth....

"soobin!" you snapped your fingers infront his lost eyes, "this is the third time I said your name, smartass."

and then he saw your face. oh, your face, eyebrows raised, eyes bright and lips wearing your signature teasing smile. he pursed his lips, memories of the tight space back on the rooftop during the trip returning. oh, how you were magic. the way you left him craving you, your eyes staring at his lips, your mouth parted and eyelashes fluttering— you were practically asking him to kiss you on the spot. and it was shameful, to say the least, that he wanted you to get closer, to shut the space between the two of you, to feel your lips on his own.

he found himself swallowing as your lips curled into a smirk. flowers of adrenaline started nipping at his knees. he felt himself going lightheaded, staring at you like he only wanted to kiss you. shit, soobin, not now!

"what's wrong, soobin?" you inched closer on the bench, causing soobin to lean back. "y'know," you began, "you get awfully quiet staring at me these days."

"force of habit," he huffed out, looking the opposite way, "you make my mind go blank."

and then he realized how that sounded out loud. fuck, why did you say that, soobin?

you blinked at him. now your mind was going blank, "oh." silence followed you two as you fought the burning sensation in your chest.

the fountain continued to hum. the night continued to grow.

"well," you tried to force out something, anything, "here's seri's gift," you felt a smile creeping to your lips as you met soobin's darting eyes.

"uh—thanks, but you didn't have to."

"shut up."

you stood on your feet, "I better get going. it's getting late and you should get some sleep."

soobin just mumbled protests, giving you the same guilty look he gave you on the rooftop as he involuntarily laced his fingers with your own, begging you to stay. he tilted his head at you, studying your movements, as if to say just a little bit longer?

you smiled, trying to forget what soobin blurted as you bent closer. although you were better at masking it than soobin, you've been observing his fidgeting fingers, his bitten lips, his messy hair, his eyes tenderly gazing at you like you had something he wanted—you.

you felt butterflies hitting against your stomach walls as you repressed the urge to stay. you stared at him, at his tired eyes from staying up too long, at his burning ears from just being with you, at his permanently pink cheeks— feeling yourself grow warmer, fonder.

"try not to overwork yourself," you said, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. you heard his breath hitch as you felt his fingers tighten around yours. you realized he still hadn't let them go from when you stood up. but he didn't protest, letting out a slight hum, or a gasp, or both—of relief, as if you finally awarded him for being so composed around you.

his eyelids threatened to close, finally finding sleep seeping into his eyes for the first time in days. he felt your warmth spread all through his body. his grip tightened. you ran a hand through his hair, his features melting to your touch.

"it wouldn't really work if this co-president thing became solo, would it?"

it’s a sunny day, you and soobin are sitting in the cafeteria, chatting about your classes and upcoming exams. you’re both laughing at a joke when you catch soobi staring at you with a soft expression.

"what?" you ask, slightly confused. you look around, trying to find what he’s laughing at.

"huh? oh, nothing," soobin replies, quickly looking away.

"you're acting weird." you say, nudging him with your elbow. he looks at you again, but can’t seem to hold the eye contact very long.

"it's nothing," he says again, but you can tell that he's lying. it’s the way he doesn’t even want to look at you.

"come on, spill it," you say, trying to get him to look at you. you look around again, and you make eye contact with kim chaewon. your eyes light up, and you enthusiastically turn back to soobin.

“do you like chaewon?!” you exclaim, excited.

“what?!” soobin seems startled by the sudden and random idea. “no!”

“then what is it?” you sigh, “it can’t be that bad.”

“it’s just,” soobin hesitates a little, “you look really pretty today.” it’s silent for a little while, and you don’t know what to say.

“only today?” you eventually say with a smirk. soobin’s eyes widen and his ears turn red.

“no that’s not- you’re-” you amusingly watch him trying to clarify himself.

“i’m just kidding, soobin.” you laugh, “you’re pretty cute as well.”

and even though the comment you made was intended to return the compliment, it had caused soobin’s crush to grow even bigger.

you never really told soobin about finding his little notes here and there, and he never mentioned accidentally leaving them places. you assumed that it was a way for him to express his feelings in a different type of way that still felt personal and you didn’t want to take that from him. you also didn’t want the notes to stop either.

admittedly, they always brightened your day significantly whenever you found them. even if they weren’t explicitly about you and soobin, they were always addressed to you. rather it would be about his love for you or a hard day he had, you liked that you got to see a glimpse into his head in a different way. it made you feel even more closer to him.

one day, you had went out and had gotten a little fancy box to keep all the notes you’ve found in. you kept the box hidden safely in one of the storing containers under your bed, and you only brought it out to add more notes when you were alone.

it’s not that you didn’t want your friends to know about the notes, it’s that they didn’t need to know about them. they were personal, and just something between you and soobin.

maybe one day in the future you’ll make a subtle hint to soobin about all the notes he addresses to you, but in the meantime, they’ll be kept safe in your pretty little box under your bed. and each time you find one, you’ll give soobin a kiss of gratitude for him letting you inside his heart—your heart.

ACCIDENTALLY TEXTING YOUR EX BFF

where you and soobin were once close friends until he confessed a year ago and you rejected him because you didn’t want to ruin your friendship. after that he asked for some space and you guys haven’t spoken since. one late night you wallow in your pity and reread your old texts and accidentally send one.

Truth was you didn’t have a meeting with any advisor, but you’d been up all night going through every scenario on how today would go. And most of them ended with Soobin hating your guts forever, so you made up a lie to delay seeing him.

The air was thick with a mix of anticipation and nostalgia as you made your way towards the cafe, the bell chiming and notifying your arrival. You immediately spotted a head of blonde hair in the corner booth, where Soobin was waiting for you. He was dumping way too many packets of sugar into his coffee and looked just as you remembered. Like home.

It had been a year since the both of you last spoke, a long twelve months filled with the echoes of a friendship. You, fueled by a sense of longing and the accidental press of a send button, had reignited a conversation that had been put on hold for far too long.

As you made your way towards him the atmosphere tightened as you started to feel the weight of unspoken words brewing inside you.

Soobin looked up at the sound of your footsteps and mustered a hesitant smile, a mixture of relief and uncertainty dancing in his eyes as you sat across from him.

“Hey,” he greeted, his voice a careful blend of warmth and reservation. You had almost forgotten what he sounded like.

“Hi,” you said, returning the greeting as a nervous smile played on your lips. A sense of awkwardness hung between you two, an unspoken acknowledgement of your last conversation a year ago.

Soobin pushed a cup towards you, steam rising up from it as he placed some creamer beside it.

“I ordered for you, you still like it the same way right?” he asked.

“Yeah, you remembered,” you comment, looking up at him as you take a sip.

“How could I forget?” he laughed. A laugh you could recognize anywhere.

“It’s been a while,” you start, awkwardness still lingering between you both.

Soobin took a sip of his drink, his hands too big for the cup as he broke the silence.

“Yeah, it has,” he spoke, memories of a year ago still weighing on him. It was like a barrier that the both of you wanted to dismantle.

“You know, I’ve missed you,” you admitted, finally meeting Soobin’s eyes. The vulnerability laced in your voice was palpable, yearning for a connection that once was.

Soobin’s expression softened, a flicker of emotion crossing his face. He hesitated before nodding, “I’ve missed you too.”

There was a weight of unspoken words hanging between them and you could sense Soobin’s guarded heart, a reflection of the hurt you caused him a year ago.

After a few more awkward glances you finally navigated the delicate dance of a conversation with someone who once confessed their love to you.

Soobin told you about Yeonjun’s crush on Beomgyu and how he called it months ago. He showed you new photos of his pet hedgehog and how he shit in Yeonjun’s room. You learned about all the gossip he’s heard from the semester and the professors he’s grown to hate. As you both chatted about the past year you couldn’t shake the desire to address the lingering emotions. You knew Soobin wasn’t going to bring it up, leaving you guys standing at the edge of a confession that neither was brave enough to voice.

Soobin feels it too, the precipice you both are on.

He wants to jump.

“Bin, there’s something I want…no. I need to say,” you confess, earnest.

Soobin looked up from where he was in the middle of showing you photos from his summer trip, curiosity and caution wavering in his eyes.

“What is it?” he asked, shutting off his phone.

You forced yourself to take a deep breath and continued, “Back then, when you confessed your feelings, I was scared. Scared of losing our friendship if things didn’t work out. But over this year, I’ve realized I miss more than just our friendship.”

Soobin’s gaze on you intensified as he searched for the unsaid words.

“I missed you…because I have feelings for you too,” you confess, “Back then and I still do.”

Soobin’s eyes widened, a mix of surprise and relief washing over his face as he set his mug down.

“Yn, I…,” Soobin swallowed, a hint of nervousness stopping him, “I never stopped liking you,” he admitted, his tone sincere. “And I wouldn’t let our feelings ruin what we have, I value our friendship too much to let it be overshadowed by my feelings. If you’re still willing, maybe we could figure this out together.”

As the weight of the confessions hung in the air you found yourself at a loss for words and could only dumbly nod back at him.

“I'd like that,” you managed to say.

Soobin’s gaze softened, a hint of remorse in his eyes. “Yn, I want to add something,” he begins, voice tinged with shame, “I’m sorry for asking for space and leaving you for a year. I regretted it everyday and it wasn’t fair to you, I could’ve dealt with it better.”

You met Soobin’s nervous gaze, the air heavy with unspoken forgiveness.

“I understand,” you reply, “How could I not? We both could’ve done better but let’s just move forward.”

“I'd like that,” Soobin smiled, “Can I sit next to you?”

You scoot over and let Soobin join you on your side of the booth. His body was pressed against yours in the small booth as he kept sending you glances. You were still in a state of disbelief as to how things worked out, fully expecting Soobin to laugh in your face at your confession.

Instead here he was, cheeks turning pink everytime you guys brushed shoulders.

“I know we’re in public but…I really wanna kiss you,” Soobin whispers, turning towards you.

“I’ve been wanting to for a whole year,” you whisper back.

Soobin holds back a smile and fails. He cradles your head, his hands swallowing you whole, and leans in to give you just a peck.

“Not enough?” he asks coyly as you pout.

Soobin surges towards you again, this time licking your mouth open and tasting your coffee flavored breath. You’re both the same amount of desperate and assertive, a year’s worth of lust fueled into one kiss.

Soobin catches your bottom lip between his teeth and swells them prettier.

He feels like home.
