This is my stepson. He just turned 11. Last year he was struck by a Ford Explorer and dragged 30 feet under the vehicle. It took 5 men to lift the truck so he can be pulled out from under it. He lost HALF his knee, tendons, muscle, ligaments and his arm had severe road rash his wrist was split open and his ligaments in there connecting to the thumb were split. This was the hardest thing our family has ever been through. He almost lost his leg we were facing amputation. The most high came through for us and the awesome surgeons at Loyola were able to get a donor for the missing parts of his knee. Someone passed away and was gracious enough to allow the doctors to take their knee for my son.They performed an allograft. His knee is put together with screws. His growth pallets in the leg are gone. He has undergone several surgeries and will continue to have more surgeries. The lady who hit him got away Scot free. Not even a suspended license. I took a month off work to be able to take care of our girls while wifey was at the hospital with him. We alternated nights in there. Sleepless nights, hearing him cry in pain every night and not being able to help drove us crazy. He didnt deserve this. No child deserves this. 1 year later and nonstop therapy and my son can walk without a Walker or a cane. He still isnt done with surgery. One leg will grow while the other doesn't. Hes looking at more surgeries. The lady who hit him doesn't have to pay a dime. This isnt easy because of you know me personally then you know I don't like to ask for shit.
