Modelling found that increasing tree cover to 30 percent would shave off 0.4 degrees Celsius (0.7 degrees Fahrenheit) locally, on average, during hot summer months, they reported in The Lancet.
Of the 6,700 premature deaths attributed to higher temperatures in 93 European cities during 2015, one-third could have been prevented, according to the findings.
Currently, just under 15 percent of urban environments in Europe, on average, are covered by some kind of foliage.
The study is the first to project the number of premature deaths due to higher temperatures in cities that could be prevented by additional tree cover, said lead author Tamara Iungman, a researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal).

Carbon footprints is a bunch of bs tbh
call me a conspiracy theorist but carbon footprint is a misdirection made to point the blame of climate change on us so companies like BP (one of the biggest oil companies in the world who coined up the term while being known as a massive greenwasher) can go along getting no reproductions for their massive effect on the environment
boycotting is effective but we can’t exactly boycott everything like oil because we have limited access to non oil alternatives and get this what the government wants that they let this greenwashing crap go on with no regulated to the future of not only the economy with will be hurt either way, but the entire fate of the world
all this government and company stupidity just really pisses me off man esp with the fact people are falling for it
oh and don’t give me that “it’s hopeless” crap that’s no better than what the companies are doing and all it does is avoid action we can be taking yes it’s possible look at any scientist ever we will just need a pretty big culture shift but other places like Denmark show it’s possible to recover the earth and our environment
and not nearly enough people are concerned about the environment like they should be and even if they are they are usually focusing on the wrong things and the entire climate movement is honestly just a big mess

I hate people who say they don’t care about the environment. “Oh ItS nOt My FaUlT tHiS is HapPeNinG-“ you’re right, it’s not, but guess what? We all have to live in it. Drive less. Stop driving at all if possible. Stop burning fossil fuels. Take electricity powered public transportation. We all have to start caring about the fucking environment or by the time your children grow up winter won’t exist.

a warning
i was born to a bright, blue sky
the Wild was bursting with life
they Stars as shiny as ever
and now as i look out my window
the birds have dropped dead
the food the Wild had so kindly provided was nearly gone
wasted by those with no heart
when i see the night sky
all i can ever glance at are airplanes and flashing lights
i cry and scream along with the Earth
because we both know that the day i die
the sky will be red and empty
and the Earth will be too

The deep-water flows which drive ocean currents could decline by 40% by 2050, a team of Australian scientists says.
The currents carry vital heat, oxygen, carbon and nutrients around the globe.
Previous research suggests a slowdown in the North Atlantic current could cause Europe to become colder.
The study, published in the journal Nature, also warns the slowdown could reduce ocean's ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
The report outlines how the Earth's network of ocean currents are part driven by the downwards movement of cold, dense saltwater towards the sea bed near Antarctica.
But as fresh water from the ice cap melts, sea water becomes less salty and dense, and the downwards movement slows.
These deep ocean currents, or "overturnings", in the northern and southern hemispheres have been relatively stable for thousands of years, scientists say, but they are now being disrupted by the warming climate.

don't you just LOVE it when you comment a funny experience you have about being a climate change activist under an ig reel. and then all of a sudden, these white men start coming out of the woodwork to refute your claims???
leave it to the WHITE MAN to tell me, a woman, what is and isn't right. and then they're out here telling me i'm a coward and a racist and stupid for believing in climate change.
oh, wait, what?? you don't have a PhD in climate change studies?? you haven't published peer-reviewed scientific journals on the topic?? yet you're going to tell me that I'M wrong when you literally have no idea what the fuck you're talking about??? oh, ok, sounds great! 🙃🤡
i so hope that these type of rude, idiotic, misogynistic cis white men are the FIRST ones to drown when the ocean levels rise around the world. good luck trying to save yourself when you never believed us in the first place. go to tell you motherfucker 🙃

With all these absolutely bonkers heat waves and fires and the like, it's hard for me not to think about just how many things need to be addressed if we ever want to fix this shit.
I mean, where do I begin? There are so many industries that contribute to biome-destroying pollution, or release so much CO2 into the atmosphere to produce/make a thing in factories. Those have to be fixed, which will mean using different energy resources for factories and using less hazardous chemicals. We have so much microplastics in everything, we HAVE to stop using Oil-based plastics. Some genius scientists have discovered you can make a fantastic alternative plastic using mushroom fibers; it degrades quickly and it doesn't fuck over the environment it is dumped in. We need to stop growing so many water-dependent crops that aren't even supposed to grow in the localities they're growing in. Why are we growing white rice in California instead of the local wild rice? Why are we growing all that useless GMO Monsanto corn that isn't actually safe to eat? All that irresponsible capitalist farming's doing is fucking with the PH of the soil and eventually leading to dead dirt. Globally, it's actually a serious issue. There was a reason Natives almost religiously dedicated themselves to specialized slash-and-burn techniques; it helped keep the soil fertile and in some cases, helped numerous plant species propagate. We need to be smarter and more aggressive about using cheap eco-friendly alternatives. We need to stop leaving gravel pits all over the place, or leaving these terrifying toxic pits of refuse from pig/chicken farms just lying around. We need to be smarter about sustainability on a local level and ecology on a state--if not national--level. Don't reintroduce wolves just because your locality once had them; sometimes other species will take their place in the food chain, and reintroducing the wolf just ends up resulting in coyote problems and wolves eating Karen's cats in the backyard due to the fact the coyotes have a monopoly on the local prey animals. STOP USING PESTICIDES AND FERTILIZERS. That's too many chemicals, most of which will give everything that eats the plants that grow in that chemical cocktail some horrid form of cancer. Use safer alternatives. Yes, you need ALL the bugs. There's a reason for all those insects to exist, and you'll just have to learn to deal with it. Just don't be stupid and leave your trash too close to your house; cockroaches will always be a problem. They'll outlive us all, mark my words.
Just.... We as a society, and probably a species, have shat the bed so badly that there are just so many things to fix now. It's... A lot. And I don't think any sort of soft-handed climate change policy is gonna cut it. "We'll use your clean energy and yell at oil companies a few times." Yeah, no. Try again. We need an aggressive plan or we are all quite literally fucked.

So frustrating to recycle paper these days
Businesess keep using thermal paper on receipts, shipping labels...
What's the tape made of? What's in the ink of the boxes for soda cans? What's in the glitter and gloss added on junk mail?

hello hello!
this august i'll be making a cool lil movie with some cool people, and could use some help.
once upon a time i camped across the country on my way to California, but had to take a shortcut into Oregon due to wildfires ravaging central Cali. i stayed with friends in Ashland OR while it was under a cover of smoky haze wafting from all sides of the burning west coast. this film is a culmination of coming to realize how people continue to live in the places being destroyed by a changing climate. it's not a climate change film, but a manifestation of anxiety about an uncertain future.
if you're interested in helping us fund the Prescribed Burn of a Savanna Oak, please do click here
:https://igg.me/at/prescribedburnfilm
Send it to all your friends, family, and rich grandparents (to atone for the sins of leaving us with a dying planet of course).
thank you so very much. much love.
