#caretaking scenario

Every time whumpee woke up, they were somewhere else.
Usually with a new whumper, who would torture them right back unconscious. Then they would wake up somewhere new, with someone new; who had a new tormenting strategy.
One day they awoke in a bed. The first thing they heard was music and rain tacking on the window.
-The... window?
They hadn't seen a window since they had been taken. They opened their eyes to flowers lining a table at their feet. Someone was asleep at their bedside with their face buried in whumpees side.
It was caretaker, deep in slumber while still managing a quite good grip on whumpees hand.

Here's some sweet caretaking edits for Yuma and Parental Yakou fans c:
Yakou taking care of Yuma on his own after he gets sick from being out in the rain for too long. Everyone else is out detective-ing.
He collapsed outside the agency and Halara brought him in. Then they leave after delivering him to Yakou.
Yakou tucks him into his sofa letting him borrow the blanket from his own bed. What a good dad ;w;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His immune system is as delicate as paper.
A nearly 40 degree celsius fever just from the rain 🤷‍♀️

Shhhh! Keep your voice down and don't be loud. Whumpee is sleeping (or has just fallen asleep).
In Caretaker's arms after being rescued.
In a hospital bed in a recovery ward (or perhaps an ICU) after receiving care and treatment or perhaps emergency surgery.
On a bed in a room in a recovery house. Bonus points for the house are that the house belongs to the Caretaker and the bed BELONGS TO CARETAKER (AND CARETAKER'S BEDROOM)!!!!
In the passenger seat. Sleep on your back in the back seat or sleep in a half-sitting position after the seat is lowered slightly on the driver's side seat. Bonus points Caretaker puts on the jacket or coat to cover Whumpee.
On the sofa in front of the fireplace.
In a wheelchair while taking a leisurely walk.
On the couch on the terrace.
On the Caretaker's lap. Bonus points with the accompaniment of Caretaker's soft voice lulling Whumpee to sleep and caressing Whumpee's hair.
Sleep leaning on the Caretaker's shoulder when sitting side by side. Bonus points when they are in a discussion with the team members and Whumpee suddenly falls asleep exhausted.
Anything you want to add?

living weapon whumpees who, during the first few months of recovery with caretaker, are foreign to the concept of comfort‼️‼️‼️
have them flinching away from caretaker's soft touch because they believe they don't deserve it‼️‼️‼️
have a caretaker gently massage living weapon whumpee's shoulders, soothing words further adding to whumpee's overall confusion before they eventually lean into caretaker's warm touch‼️‼️‼️
have caretaker's soft words and hands holding whumpee's face snap them out of their conditioning after something / someone accidentally triggered them, startled at first before recognizing that, caretaker wasn't a threat, they were safe with them and that whumper wasn't here anymore ‼️‼️‼️

ok so superhero whump scenario:
Villain is Hero's favourite 'bad guy' to fight. Villain never really hurts anyone with their actions, and anything they steal is usually anonymously returned within a few days. The worst crime they've really committed is property damage. Hero is convinced they're just doing it for fun, as evidenced by Villain's very melodramatic and performatively cheesy attitude during their confrontations
Eventually, Villain disappears. Hero assumes they just decided to put down their cape and mask, though is a little saddened that they now don't have any real 'comic relief' in their day-to-day villain fighting.
A few months later, Hero is in Superhero's HQ when they come across a locked door they hadn't noticed before. Overcome with curiosity, they figure out how to get it open and take a peek inside.
Even without their iconic costume or mask, Hero would recognise Villain anywhere. Villain looks awful. Emaciated, bruised, scarred, curled up in a shivering ball in the corner of what Hero now recognises as a cell. How long has Superhero kept them here? And why? Hero doesn't know, all they do know is that this is wrong, and that their old rival needs their help, Superhero be damned.

the weary feverish whumpee aesthetic™
I love it when a whumpee is so weak that they:
are bedridden, much to their discomfort. They long to leave the bed, but cannot because they are too weak, and their legs shake at the thought of taking even a single step.
can't keep their eyes open. Their eyelids flutter but due to tiredness and too much light, they always close again. However, the whumpee has learned to rely on other senses, and is able to recognize the caretaker's voice or touch among a thousand others.
have to always lie down. They try to sit up, perhaps to eat something, but after a few minutes their head starts spinning and their body starts screaming because of the effort. Much to their chagrin, they have to force themselves back down or else they will likely pass out.
are not hungry. Their body can't handle even plain broth, making them queasy and dizzy. So they continue to refuse food, their only source of livelihood, and this obviously worsens their condition.
are too sensitive to touch. Their skin that seems to boil with fever, the bedsheets that rub down their limbs like sandpaper, the hair that sticks to their sweaty forehead, even the simple touch of the caretaker, a touch that is supposed to comfort them, is too much. They start to hate all these little things.
Please, feel free to add more.

Okay, hear me out....
A caretaker with an extremely conditioned whumpee.
Caretaker is forced to "speak their language" to get through to whumpee. Caretaker has to start acting like Whumper to slowly undo the conditioning.
They have to start harsh and strict to slowly teach Whumpee what freedom is, or reintroduce them into their own agency.
Maybe Whumpee was a slave or a pet, and all they know are orders and discipline and reward. Before Caretaker figures this out, Whumpee is listless or catatonic, or maybe self-destructive and reckless. Without order and routine, Whumpee has no idea how to function, their mind is sent into chaos.
Caretaker has no interest in being a master, but to get through the conditioning, to even get them medical help, they are forced to get their hands dirty.... Orders are just necessary- "you're going to the hospital, that's an order" or "I order you to decide on what you want for dinner."
Caretaker never wanted this power and responsibility over another person.
With power, there is also the risk of corruption.
Maybe Caretaker is terrified about walking the fine line between helping their severely damaged and twisted whumpee and becoming the new whumper.
Maybe they get it right, maybe they get it wrong, maybe it's something in between, there's so many directions this could go and all of the threads are so interesting.

You know what? I don't give enough credit to comforting actions paired with violent ones. I'm not talking about after either, I mean soft touches while hurting whumpee
A knife in one hand and the other stroking whumpee's back
tying whumpee in an uncomfortable position and petting their hair
injecting a sedative/poison and singing a lullaby
putting a blade through whumpee while hugging them <3
a hand on their cheek and the other around their throat

“I’m sorry. I have to do this, okay?”
Said by Caretaker before:
Lowering Whumpee into a cold bath for their dangerously high fever
Lowering Whumpee into a lukewarm bath for their dangerously severe hypothermia (it feels boiling to them)
Doing stitches, cleaning and dressing a wound, etc.
Cauterization
Forcing them to eat/drink something after an extended period of illness and/or starvation
Resetting a broken bone
Field surgery
Dragging their ass to an actual hospital
Dragging their ass to an actual therapist
Restraining them during a violent (as in, physically harmful) flashback or nightmare
Inducing vomiting when the Whumpee clearly needs to, but can’t
Uncomfortable medicine (bad-tasting, syringes, aerosolized medicine through a weird mask, etc.)
Moving a Whumpee who’s in a particularly bad state
Tell me more.

Caretaker awakens to a silhouette standing in their doorway. They flick their lamp on, finding whumpee with their arms hugging their body and brows knitted together.
"Hey, you okay?" Caretaker whispers.
"I..." Whumpee mumbled, their voice causing caretaker to shoot up in bed.
"-You need pain reliever." Caretaker finished their sentence.

Content: Recovery, PTSD/trauma.
"What on earth are you doing on the kitchen bench?" Caretaker asked curiously as they stuck their head into the kitchen to see what was making noise. There, Whumpee sat on the island with their legs crossed, grinning from ear to ear despite their clear nervousness.
"You told me I was allowed to break Whumper's rules. They never let me sit on counters, so that's what I'm doing."
Caretaker's confused frown curved up into a smile, pride no doubt evident. They took a few steps into the room and leaned against the nearest wall behind them. "Yeah? How's it feel up there?"
"Great!" they chirped. "I always used to sit like this, before. It's only a small aspect of the freedom I'm trying to reclaim, but one I'm excited to have back nonetheless."

A human is content with being a blood bag for their vampire. Maybe they are nothing but an object, maybe they get possessive of their vampire knowing they don’t feel the same, but the point is they’re useful! So the human is content. And every now and then the vampire praises them and the human’s heart soars. They are utterly devoted (if they don’t have this, they’re better off dead).
And then one day the human gets sick. It won’t go away soon enough to be fed on again and the vampire comes to them for food and the human break into tears between coughs because they’re so sorry, their vampire will probably have to dispose of them now. Even if they don’t, the human isn’t being useful so they’re a leech.
The vampire sighs. There is something wrong with you, they think, if they haven’t noticed already. They drop down to their knees where the human is sniffling before them, demand they get up (helping them without thinking about it) and send the human to bed. Human gets doted on and cared for even if the vampire has to feed them themself.

"You'll never hurt anyone again."
Caretaker captures Whumper and conditions them to associate the sight of blood, wounds or sounds indicating any kind of hurt (screaming, yelping, whimpering, begging, etc) with pain. This also means they’re not just scared of hurting others, but they hate looking at their own wounds and avoid making noise when they are hurt because the sounds upset them.

Oh, to love a living weapon. A being whose entire identity centers around violence, who finds far too much comfort in being an attack dog, a source of hurt, because embracing violence means they have SOME form of agency. Oh, to love someone who has been broken down for years upon years, until they're more scar than skin. And maybe they don't want to heal. Maybe they don't know how. Maybe they adore their abuser too much to even consider breaking away from them. They have always known that they're something dangerous, and they have finally found someone who is happy to make use of their violence. They're more than willing to be broken down, in exchange for finding a place to belong.
Oh, to love a living weapon. To love a monster, an attack dog. They're kneeling at your feet, and their grin is hesitant, their fingers shaking, because they only ever want to be loved. If you don't provide that affection, they might just fall apart.
You wash the blood off their hands. Whatever messed up dynamic goes on between them and their handler isn't any of your business. You're the one who takes care of them afterwards.
Oh, to love a living weapon. Oh, to kiss their cuts and bruises.
You embrace them for what they are - not despite of it.
