love my professors talking about career aspirations and majors like they're the same thing. like,, yes, I'm going to college and in that, the final goal is to be fully capable of (for me) astrophysics research, which you need degrees for, but I also have so many more aspirations on any given day, this is just the one that completely requires a college degree.

I also want to be a writer, and a chef, and a variety streamer, and have enough money to have a chain of "stores" without an active business license so I just give stuff out for free with no limits or questions just the essentials of life on hand for anyone who wants them, and I want to keep a community garden, and I want to keep cows and sheep and chickens and goats all for non-meat products, and etc. etc.! I have so many career aspirations, space is just the one thing I needed a degree for

Since I was young, I've harbored a dream of becoming a film director or animator, which has become deeply ingrained in my mind. The thought of pursuing careers outside these industries fills me with anxiety. However, despite my desire to work in this field, I haven't dedicated any effort to acquiring the necessary skills. There's a part of me that fantasizes about waking up one day already established in one of these roles. If I genuinely want to pursue a career in these industries, I must commit to putting in the necessary effort. Otherwise, I may need to reassess my career aspirations.

I've been thinking lately that I need to dedicate more time to writing. There was a time, a few years back, when I used to write prolifically, and I found great joy in it. I realize that if I aim to pursue a career in Hollywood or become a successful author, honing my craft is crucial. I have a plethora of stories swirling around in my mind, and it's imperative to me that I bring them to life. I'm determined not to let them languish unused. While I understand that not every story I create will be a masterpiece, I believe there's an audience out there who will appreciate them. Simply getting my stories out into the world is a step in the right direction, and I hope they resonate with someone, inspiring them in turn.

I know my husband loves me seeing as how he was doing laundry in the basement earlier and emerged to tell me to come see the decomposed dead thing (most likely the squirrel that moved in back in april) down there because he knows I'm a morbid motherfucker. Bless his soul for just *getting* me.

I will be collecting its skull soon and adding it to my collection. I already have a scavenged deer skull and a prairie dog my mom got me from South Dakota. I also have another squirrel that i collected last summer, and a cat skull (she died in my arms and i kept her body till she decomposed).

Not to be adhd, but i'm reflecting on some career tests i took recently and realizing that all of them only test what skills you have to offer to an employer. And the MBTI is extremely unreliable as a personality test for the sole reason of my own personal experience, in which i have taken that stupid test many times over the last 18 years and have gotten 4 or 5 different results.

Career tests might have better and more specific results if they took into consideration the niche interests of the person. Mine tend to run on the dark side. I would excel in any field that deals with death or philosophy or party planning. I also have a flair for grandiloquence if i'm feeling pretentious. Perhaps a museum director? Or a hobbit with an affinity for pipe tobacco?

i found and read a draft script of scream for funsies bc it’s a hobby of mine and i wanted to share a couple interesting finds with stuilly nation

firstly, billy was originally written to be in the scene at tatum’s locker

logically it makes more sense for billy not to be in this scene at all so sidney can smack into him in the next scene but the way his place was taken by tatum… curious. makes you think.

secondly, this exchange was supposed to happen before the video store scene

personally i wish this would’ve made it to cut somehow bc i think it had a lot of potential, not only w exploring their dynamic together but also the way it was shot could’ve dropped a little extra hint to the big reveal at the end. plus i think stu parroting what billy says about him gives the meaning of it extra weight.

One thing that I really like about 911 and a handful of stories they've done over the years is the idea of it being okay to give up on a career/dream if it's not suiting you anymore. Or trying it out, finding out it's not for you, and then stopping.

I know a lot of people were mad that Hen didn't finish med school and go and become a doctor, but personally I liked that she listened to her heart and decided that being a first responder was better suited towards her, and I'm happy that Karen didn't get on her case or be like "but you wasted so much time and money and effort doing this!" I was so happy Karen let Hen feel what she felt and supported her decision to stay being a first responder instead of pushing her to continue going to be a doctor when that path might not have been as fulfilling to her even though she thought it was what she wanted.

The same things happens with the kid that Chim mentors where instead of being like hey you gotta push forward to be a firefighter, he says hey you have great instincts maybe they're best put to use at the dispatch center.

(this part is speculation based on some recent posts about Eddie and potential interim captain.) I would love to see Eddie temporarily take on the roll of interim captain for a short period of time. Not to show that he should be captain, but to show that there is value in wanting to stay being a part of the team rather than being pressured to pursue leadership. Most of the time, the way our culture is set up (fuck u capitalism) most media and propaganda wants people to do everything they can to reach the highest most important leadership role they can have. I would love to see Eddie try out being a leader (and being good at it cuz that's just how he is!) But then ultimately deciding that he prefers to be on equal ground with his teammates, following a good captain like Bobby or Hen, rather than being the one making the decisions.

Idk I just really appreciate that 911 doesn't ever push the story that you always have to be seeking bigger and better things career wise and instead promotes following what makes you happy and finding work that fulfils you personally rather than what is expected of you.
