Transfer Him (Or Not)
A/N: For context, here is Python's introduction Ghost. And here is Python's basic info post.
*****************************************************************
It took Ghost two days of putting up with Python before he stomped towards Price's office. He practically threw open the door, glowering at the captain for what he has had to put up with from the American medic.
"Transfer him." Ghost growled out as he stalked towards Price's desk.
Price looked up from where he writing a report. "'Him" who? Be more specific, there's all men here in this task force," he replied, amused with his own joke. He chuckled for a bit before turning serious, raising a brow at his lieutenant. "Is it Soap? I thought you liked him now."
Ghost scowled beneath his mask, crossing his arms. "I do and I was talking about that bastard American medic," he grumbled.
"Python?" Price couldn't help it, he burst out into laughter, which only made Ghost more irritated. He had his laughing fit for a whole minute before he wiped the tears of laughter from his eyes, his smile forming on his face. "You want me to transfer Python?"
"Yes," Ghost said gruffly, not understanding why Price found it so funny.
"No."
"What? Why not?"
Price's amusement was gone now, his hands moving around some paperwork on his desk. He waited until he was sure Ghost was seriously asking the question. "Ghost, I can't transfer Python," he explained, his words careful. "For one, I didn't transfer him to us in the first place, Laswell did, and secondly, a medic would be good for us. You and Soap barely made it out alive in Las Alamas. So he's staying, no matter how much you don't like him."
Ghost growled at that, very upset by Price's logic. "I don't trust him. The last American we trusted was Graves, and we all know how that turned out," he said.
"Do you trust me, Ghost?"
"Without question."
Price smiled at that, knowing he could always count on his lieutenant to trust him. "Then trust that I know you'll end up liking Python," he replied. "Besides, you don't even know him well enough to hate him. He's only been here for two days."
Ghost grumbled again. "I know him enough to know he's a mysterious bastard."
"Ah, so you two have that in common," Price said, his smile widening into a grin at the playful glower Ghost threw his way for that comment. He chuckled. "Just... Try to be nice, okay? You wouldn't want to piss off a medic, Ghost. Trust me."
Ghost nodded and then left the office so Price could get back to work. He decided to head to the base hospital, heading out of the building he was in and making his way over to the base hospital.
He walked inside the base hospital and made it to the office that was designated as Python's. As he walked there, Soap came out of the office with Gaz in tow, Soap having his hand bandaged.
"What happened to you?" Ghost asked, frowning at Soap's bandaged hand. He went to grab it to get a closer look but Soap pushed his hand away with his good one.
Soap gave Ghost a cheeky grin. "It's nothing, mate. A simple second-degree burned from a cooking accident," he told Ghost nonchalantly. "I just went in to see the doc to get it bandaged."
Gaz interjected, rolling his eyes. "I brought him to Python," he explained his presence there. "Soap wasn't even going to treat it and I had to drag him to Python's office."
"You're such a tattletale, Gaz," Soap complained, his voice almost a whine. He then turned to Ghost, a curious glint in his eyes. "Why are you on your way to Python? Injured, aye?"
Ghost playfully pushed at Soap's chest. "My business is my business," he said, warning Soap not to push for details.
Soap merely smiled, used to Ghost's evasiveness. "You and Python are similar in that respect. A pair of men who want to remain as mysterious as possible."
Ghost rolled his eyes and bid goodbye to Gaz and Soap, Gaz playfully dragging Soap back to the barracks. He watched them leave before walking up the office door, knocking, and entering.
"You injured?" Python asked as soon as Ghost stepped in, lifting his head up from where he was putting away the bandages and gauze back into the drawer of his desk. "And on a scale from one to ten, how bad is it?"
"You know, most medics are less harsh when it comes to asking how bad an injury is." Ghost couldn't help but have a little bite in his voice, feeling annoyed whenever Python was in his vicinity.
Ever since he met the man, Ghost had this need, this itch, and he could only assume it was because they were so similar that Ghost hated it with a passion. And yet, Ghost found himself wanting to be closer.
He pushed down that sudden urge, his eyes narrowing in annoyance. "Anyways, I'm not here because I'm injured," he said, eyeing the taller man.
Python finished putting away the bandages and gauze back in the drawer of his desk, closing the drawer before giving Ghost his full attention. He still had on that damned mask and balaclava that made Ghost all that aware of how similar they were. "Okay, why are you here then?" he asked, moving around his desk to sit on the edge of the surface of said desk.
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm... I'm going to try to get along with you," Ghost blurted out awkwardly, at a loss for words. He was never a talker anyways.
"Okay," Python said after a minute of waiting for Ghost to say more.
"Okay? That's all you have to say?"
And there Ghost was, getting irritated with Python all over again. It was like there was an inferno in his chest, an emotion he couldn't describe but was so intense that it made him so irritable to the way Python was so cagey.
"Bloody hell," Ghost exclaimed, unable to help the rush of emotions. He threw his arms up in the air in a "I give up" gesture and turned away from the infuriating man. "It's like talking to a wall! Fine, keep yourself locked away, see if I care."
With those words, he stomped out of the office, slamming the door shut. Despite his irritation, Ghost's lips couldn't help but twitch into a small smile when he heard Python curse at the door being slammed shut.
So the medic does express some emotion, Ghost thought to himself. Interesting.
*****************************************************************
A/N: This was longer than I thought it would be. But have this, Ghost not understanding what emotion he's feeling. He doesn't like his questions being brushed off by Python, but he doesn't understand that he too does that to others. But also, what was Python supposed to say in response, Ghost, huh? I still love Ghost, it's fine.

Tag Game: Bridgekeeper OC Questions
Thanks to @phoenixradiant for the new tag game! This looks super fun!
Rules and original post here, and based on this scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
My questions are:
Are you really who you say you are? (i.e. does the OC have a false image they present to the world?)
What would you die to protect?
What is your least favorite food?
Gonna do it for my main trio in The Legend of Orian Goldeneye.
Are you really who you say you are?
Jas: *scoffs* "Are you calling me a liar? Of course I am." Killian: *hesitates briefly* "To the best of my knowledge, I am. Yes." Orian: *eyes downcast* "I am who I need to be."
2. What would you die to protect?
Jas: "I'd rather not, but it would be for those I care about." Killian: *hand goes to his pendant* "I... I think it would be for this." Orian: "The balance... it is my duty."
3. What is your least favorite food?
Jas: "Stuffing. The texture is literally just soggy bread, and it makes me gag." Killian: "I currently don't have one." Orian: "Bananas."
No pressure tagging @annakayy @fourwingedwriter @athenswrites @late-to-the-fandom @spitefulbull @faytelumos @overdecorated-furniture @thewritingautisticat @chronicallydragons @gamerkats @cssnder @illarian-rambling @writingphoenix @alnaperera @somethingclevermahogony and open tag!
Your questions are:
Where do you hail from?
Why are you here?
Are your right or left-handed?

Chapter 17-
Tumblr media
"This is perfect. We can finally get this thing organised. We'll grid the whole area, start searching in teams." Rick explained, looking down at the map that was spread across the hood of the truck.
"Not you. Not today." Hershel called out, walking towards the group of you. "You gave three units of blood. You wouldn't be hiking five minutes in this heat before passing out. And your ankle, push it now and you'll be laid up for a month, no good to anybody."
"Guess it's just me. I'm gonna head back to the creek, work my way from there." Daryl spoke up as you looked over at him.
Just him? What were you? Nothing?
"I can still be useful. I'll drive up to the interstate, see if Sophia wandered back." Shane added.
"I will search the woods nearby, see what I find. But, tomorrow. That's when we start doing this properly." You declared, looking between the group before glancing back down at the large map.
That was a lot of area to cover. Sophia could be anywhere... if she was even still alive.
"That means we can't have our people out there with just knives. They need the gun training we've been promising them." Shane responded and you nodded in agreement.
Everyone needed to learn how to protect themselves. Hell, you wouldn't mind if Carl learnt how to use one when he was fit enough. He needed to protect himself too.
"I prefer you not carrying guns on my property. We've managed so far without turning his into an armed camp." Hershel said.
Like hell you were giving up your gun.
"All due respect, you get a herd of those things wandering in here-" Shane began to say before Rick cut him off.
"Look, we're guests here. This is your property and we will respect that." Rick stated, glancing over at you and Shane sternly as he pulled his Colt Python from his holster and placed it on top of the map.
Oh, he was not serious right now? We're really just giving up our guns?
You glanced over at Shane who bit his lip, stopping himself from saying something he'd most likely regret as he pulled his Glock from his belt and placed it on the map beside Ricks.
Rick turned towards you with a questioning look and sighed.
"Whatever, but I'm keeping everything else." You reasoned, gesturing towards you belt where your baton, OC spray and handcuffs were before you pulled your handgun from the holster.
Rick gave you a grateful nod. "First things first, finishing setting up camp and find Sophia."
"I hate to be the one to ask, but somebody's got to. What happens if we find her and she's bit? I think we should all be clear on how we handle that." Shane said and although it was a bad thing to say, it did need to be said because as much as you hated to admit it, it was possible.
"We do what has to be done." Rick answered seriously.
"What about her mother? What do you tell her?" Maggie asked and you could tell she did not agree with Rick said.
"The truth." You simply answered looking over at the other woman as she glanced over at her father with uneasy expression.
"I'll gather and secure all the weapons. Make sure no one's carrying till we're at a practice range off site. I do request one rifleman on lookout. Dale's got experience." Shane suggested, looking over at Hershel who defiantly did not like that idea.
"Our people would feel safer, less inclined to carry a gun." Rick said, backing him up.
Hershel thought about it for a moment and to your surprise, he nodded in agreement.
-
You spent the rest of the day searching the outskirts of the farm, hoping that Sophia may have found one of the paddock fences and followed it, but she hadn't.
By the time you got back to camp, you realised that a lot had happened without you.
Glenn had been lowered down into a water well to get a walker out, which apparently didn't go to plan and now that water well had been blocked off since it walker guts inside.
Glenn and Maggie had done a quick supply run into a nearby town. Maggie had nearly been bit and then Shane and Andrea had taken Carol back to the highway to see if Sophia found her way back, but she hadn't.
You were only gone for a few hours and all of that happened, which shocked you, but at least everyone was okay.
Later that afternoon everyone sat around the small campfire, eating dinner and slowly starting to get ready for bed while you wandered into the Greene house to go check on Carl, who had apparently woken up.
Quietly you walked into the room and you couldn't stop the small smile forming on your face when you spotted Carl sleep on the bed and Rick fast asleep on the chair beside his bed.
You were about to walk back out, not wanting to wake either of them up before Carls small voice broke the silence.
"Hey, Aunt Y/N." He whispered with a big smile.
You grinned, quietly walking over to his bed and leaning over him, placing a gentle kiss to his forehead as you sat down on the edge of his bed.
"Hey, little man. How are you feeling?" You asked quietly, not wanting to wake Rick up.
"Good. It doesn't hurt." He answered, but you knew that was obviously a lie.
You had been shot before and it defiantly fucking hurts, even when you woke up from the coma nearly a month after, it was still sore. Although, Lori had given Carl some of the good painkillers so maybe that was it.
"You're tougher than me, kid." You chuckled as you rubbed your fingers over the bandage covering your knuckles.
It had stopped bleeding a long time ago, but you knew there'd be nasty bruises underneath the bandage and the last thing you wanted was for Shane or Rick to see and fuss about it.
"How'd you hurt yourself?" Carl asked curiously and you looked up to find him staring at your hand.
"I was stupid, that's how. Trees don't make good punching bags." You joked causing Carl to chuckle.
Rick began to stir from his chair and you glanced over at him as his eyes slowly blinked open.
"Hey, dad." Carl said, turning his head towards Rick which caused his face to break out in a smile as he stared down at his son, but a few moments later his smile disappeared causing you to frown as Rick cleared his throat.
"Carl, I told you something earlier today about Sophia-" Rick began to say and suddenly it clicked.
Rick did mention that he had lied to Carl when he asked if Sophia was okay and Rick had said yes.
Oh this was not going to be a good conversation.
"I know. Mom told me." Carl interrupted causing Rick to chuckle shaking his head.
"Here I was getting ready to confess. I didn't mean to lie. I just didn't want to worry you. It's a stupid excuse but it's all I got."
"It's okay. Do you think we'll find her?" The little boy asked glancing between you and Rick and you nodded.
"Yes. I won't stop looking until we find her." You responded and that was the truth.
You might not believe she was alive. It had been three days, she's been out there alone for three days, you knew the chances of her being alive were slim, but you had to find her.
"Hey, I'm like you two now. We've all been shot." Carl suddenly announced.
You couldn't help but laugh as you looked over at the boy who was grinning.
"I think your mother would rather hear we got the same eyes or something. So, lets keep that between us." Rick responded with a chuckle and you nodded in agreement.
"We'll all have matching scars. Join the club." You joked causing Carl to laugh as Rick looked over at you with look that you knew meant 'shut up' causing you to laugh even more before Rick shook his head.
"Well, since you're in the club now, you get to wear the hat." Rick said, picking up his Sheriffs hat from the ground and placing it on Carl's head causing the boy to smile even brighter.
"I can help you pad the rim tomorrow so it sits better. I used to do that with Shane's hat when I couldn't find mine." You explained causing Rick to chuckle as Carl nodded excitedly before he looked over at his father.
"Won't you miss it?"
Now it was you who was laughing because Rick and that damn hat were attached by the hip. There was not one work shift where you didn't see him wearing it.
"Maybe you'll let me borrow it from time to time. Get some sleep, you need to rest." Rick replied and Carl nodded.
"I love you dad. I love you Aunt Y/N." He said glancing over at you before he lowered the hat over his eyes and leant back down on the pillow.
"I love you, Carl." You both replied.
-
To your relief, Maggie had given the group a few extra tents and sleeping bags which meant you didn't have to share with your brother anymore.
You loved Shane, but he was a very loud sleeper and it drove you crazy. But, of course whoever had set up all the tents had put yours right beside his and you could still hear his snores through the thin material of the tents.
Because of his snoring you were awake before anyone else and decided to go for a walk around the property to wake yourself up and stretch your legs.
You had walked around most the property, checked out their sheds and what equipment they had, but you had never been to the large barn further away from the house.
You walked across the field towards the barn, taking in the beautiful sunrise along the horizon, the sky painted different shades or pink and orange. But, you didn't get much time to appreciate the scenery because as soon as you reached the barn something was wrong.
The large double doors on the front of the barn were chained and padlocked shut, which wouldn't have been weird because farmers tended to keep their heavy machinery and expensive equipment locked up. But, what caught your attention was the soft groaning coming from inside.
Was there a walker trapped inside?
Curiously, you walked up to the front doors and pulled them towards you as far as the chain would allow before you pulled your torch from the holder on your belt and shone it through the tiny gap in the door. But, the second you lit up the inside the barn you immediately jumped backwards as you took in all the walkers that were inside.
"What the fuck?!" You exclaimed staring at the barn in shock.
Why would Hershel keep walkers locked up in his barn? These wooden walls won't hold them forever and if he added anymore inside then they sure as hell would bust out and your camp was literally 100 metres away. You were just bait waiting to be eaten.
You quickly did an external walk of the barn, making sure all the walls were intact and there was no sign of them trying to break out before you made your way to camp, trying to figure out how to tell the group.
What were you meant to say? 'Hey, guys, so the barn is full of walkers?' That was not going to end well.
"Nothing about what Daryl found screams Sophia to me. Anyone could have been holed up in that farmhouse." You heard Shane argue as you walked towards the group of them that were huddled around the map that was spread out over the bonnet of the truck.
"Anybody includes her, right?" Andrea responded, glancing over at Shane before he spotted you jogging towards them.
You knew he was going to say some smartass comment about you being late, but he must have realised something was wrong by the look on your face because he instantly stood up straighter and stared at you, catching Ricks attention who turned around to see what Shane was looking at.
"Good, you're here. We're just about to go over-" Rick began to say before you cut him off.
"Nope, we got something else we need to worry about. The whole group needs to hear this." You declared, walking away from them as you joined the others by the coals of the campfire eating breakfast.
"Y/N, what is it?" Rick asked, but you didn't miss the hint of worry in his tone.
"The barn is full of walkers."
You watched as everyone's eyes went wide and jaws dropped as they stared at you in disbelief.
"Come see for yourself."
Without waiting for them to respond, you turned and started to walk back to the barn. Everyone hurriedly rushing after you.
Stopping a few metres away from the chained doors, you motioned towards it as Shane and Rick marched over to the doors and looked through the small gap.
You watched as they stared at the walkers inside for a few seconds before one of the walkers banged against the door causing them both to flinch back. Shane shook his head and stormed back to the group.
"You cannot tell me you're alright with this." Shane growled, turning towards Rick and re-joined the rest of you a few metres away from the walker infested barn.
"No I'm not, but we're guests here. This isn't our land." Rick responded calmly, but you just shook your head.
This was Hershel's land, but this was crazy. Who keeps walkers locked up like this?
"Okay, we either got to go in there, we've got to make things right or we've just got to go. Now, we have been talking about Fort Benning for a long time-" Shane began to reason before Rick cut him off.
"We can't go."
"Why, Rick? Why?"
It was clear your brother was getting very agitated, very quickly and you knew this conversation needed to calm down before someone snapped.
"Because my daughter is still out there." Carol spoke up for the first time, but you didn't look at her as you eyed your brother cautiously, watching as he just chuckled and shook his head.
"Okay. Okay, I think it's time that we all start to just consider the other possibility-" Your brother began to say before Rick cut him off again.
"We're not leaving Sophia behind."
Great, Rick was getting worked up too. That's just what you needed, the two of them all riled up and arguing.
"I'm close to finding this girl. I just found a farmhouse where she had been staying yesterday." Daryl's voice suddenly said and you sighed taking in the anger and frustration in his tone as well.
Great, now there's three of them. This was perfect.
"You found a house, Daryl. That's what you did. You found a house." Shane responded, glaring at Daryl from across the group as you quickly took a step towards them, not liking where this was going.
"Ya don't know what the hell you're talkin' about!" Daryl yelled, throwing his arm in the air in frustration as you and Rick quickly got between them.
"I'm just saying what needs to be said. You get a good lead, it's in the first 24 hours-" Shane started to shout while Rick tried to stop him.
"Shane. Shane. Stop." Rick shouted.
"Let me tell you something else, man. If she was alive out there and saw you coming, all methed out with your buck knife and fucking crossbow. She would run in the other direction!" Your brother yelled and that was all it took before Daryl snapped as he charged towards Shane.
"You shut your mouth!" Daryl shouted.
You quickly stepped in front of him, your hands pushing on his chest as you fought to keep him at bay while Rick struggled with Shane behind you as you tried to stop the two of them from reaching each other.
"Hey. Hey. Hey." Rick yelled from behind you, but you didn't miss the breathlessness in his tone and you knew he was struggling to hold Shane back.
The two of them continued shouting at each other, but you were barely listening to what insults they could come up with as you focused on trying to keep Daryl away from your brother, not wanting either of them to get hurt.
"Shane, back off!" Rick shouted from behind.
"Enough! Calm down." You yelled, glaring at Daryl in front of you which seemed to snap him out of it.
He stopped trying to fight and looked down at you for a few seconds before he shook his head and shoved you away from him.
"Don't ya fuckin' touch me!" Daryl growled, glaring at you and you just rolled your eyes.
Well, at least he was back to being angry at you and not your brother.
"Hey! You don't push my baby sister!" Your brother snapped from somewhere behind you as you glanced over your shoulder to find Rick still with hand on Shane's chest, not trusting him by himself yet.
"Shane." You warned, as you stared at him, silently telling him to shut up, but he just shook his head.
"You shouldn't talk to my sister like that, man." Shane began to say and you frowned taking in your brothers now cool and calm tone compared his yelling match only moments earlier. "Hell, if it wasn't for her, you would've died and Merle would've went to prison five years ago. You should be fucking thanking her!"
You froze as he stared at your brother in disbelief before you turned back to Daryl to find him still standing in front of you, but seemed to be frozen to the spot as he stared at your brother, trying to process what he had just said.
"The hell is he talking 'bout?" Daryl questioned, turning his attention back to you, but you just shook your head.
"It doesn't matter, we have bigger problems to figure out. Now, what we going to do about this?" You asked, trying to bring the conversation back to the walkers as you turned back towards the rest of the group and Rick sighed.
"Just let me talk to Hershel. Let me figure it out." Rick answered, which seemed to flip a switch in your brother who shook his head.
"What are you gonna figure out?" Shane snapped, glaring at Rick.
"If we're gonna stay, if we're gonna clear this barn, I have to talk him into it. This is his land." Rick tried to explain, but by the look on your brothers face he did not like it.
"Hershel sees those things in there as people. Sick people. His wife, his stepson-" Dale began to say causing you to frown.
"Wait, you knew about this." You asked in shock.
"Last night. I talked to Hershel. I thought we could survive one more night. We did. I was going to tell you this morning, but she bet me too it." Dale answered pointing towards you.
"The man is crazy, Rick, if Hershel thinks those things are alive-"
She marched towards Rick, but you quickly got in front of him causing Shane to glared down at you, but you just stood up straighter and glared right back at him.
"Enough. All of you! Now, Rick will talk to Hershel. Until then, we have one person on guard duty by the barn to make sure they don't get out while the rest of us continue with our plan to search for Sophia. Any objections?" You questioned sternly, your eyes never leaving your brothers as he sighed and lowered his head. "Good. Glenn, you take first watch. The rest of us, back to the map so we can organise a proper search party."

A/N- So, as most of you probably noticed, I have made the group find the barn of walkers earlier than what they did in the show. Everything else is still the same, but I just needed the group to find the barn earlier instead of waiting for Glenn and Dale to discover it later on.
Hope this still makes sense.

-------------------------------------
As Cable zipped his bags and hefted them to his shoulder in the hangar, he heard someone call behind him. He turned to find Russell hurrying up to him.
"I want to come with you," he said, "to help Wade."
Cable was struck by the earnestness in the boy's voice. But just because they had managed to stop him from killing that headmaster just months ago didn't mean he couldn't pick up a taste for killing some other time. "Wade wouldn't want you going back to the Icebox," Cable said. "It's gonna get ugly--"
"I can use my fire to keep things clear for us!” he urged. He patted his palms on his chest and forced a smile, “I can help! Ellie and Yukio are going."
"I'm not sure they are," Cable hedged. "Even so, they're X-Men. Fully trained. You’re still a student." He started to turn away.
Russell wilted. "Can't I do anything to help?"
Cable sighed and turned back to the boy. "You already have," he assured him. "You helped confirm the layout." When the furrow in Russell’s brow deepened, Cable’s own frown softened. It reminded him too much of telling his wife and daughter goodbye before missions. He gave Russell a variation of the promise he always gave his daughter, “Hang tight, kid. We’ll have them home as soon as we can.” He turned again, and had to dodge Ellie and Yukio running to the jet.
Yukio was on her girlfriend’s heels as she bounded to the jet’s ramp. Freshly showered and without her usual makeup, Ellie’s hair was unstyled and fluttered in short pieces around her eyes. “Colossus!” she shouted. Her hands were set in hard fists.
Colossus strode down the ramp, palms plaintive. “Negasonic,” he answered, “We have been through this--”
“I’m a full member of X-Men,” Ellie snapped, “and you can’t tell me not to volunteer for a mission!” She set a packed duffle bag on the ramp and crossed her arms.
It was time to get moving. Colossus shook his head impatiently, “Rhonda was clear. She does not want you two to see the Icebox.”
NTW’s chin jutted forward. “She’s not here to stop me.” When Colossus didn’t relent, she scoffed, “Did you forget who helped you take down the Juggernaut?” For not being Rhonda’s biological daughter, she certainly had her stubbornness.
“No one is doubting your capabilities,” Colossus assured her as he shifted his weight. He thought of all Rhonda’s scars, and how many new ones she might be coming home with, and the risks posed to younger, less experienced X-Men. “It’s not only the DMC officers we have to worry about - the other inmates are just as dangerous, if not more so.”
Ellie rolled her eyes. “They have collars--”
Yukio tried to mediate, black and pink ponytail swinging as she swivelled her head between them, “You have Cable, Domino, Beast, Storm, Kurt, and yourself. Maybe that’s enough for all the officers, but the inmates? Like you said, collars or no collars,” she gave Ellie a pointed look, “they’ll be dangerous too. You could use more help. Our help.”
Colossus countered, “We will have Rhonda and Wade, once we get their collars off.”
Ellie and Yukio shared a look. Ellie’s shoulders drooped slightly. “When this happened before, I was too young to help. But now,” her voice cracked and she huffed a sigh, "I've never called her 'Mom,' but you know what she is to me. I'm not just standing by when I can help."
He briefly clenched his jaw, then his demeanor softened. "You two will stay close together?"
Ellie gave an indignant frown, but before she could make a retort, Yukio interjected, "Yes, and we will stay close to you. Give you cover." She elbowed Ellie, who nodded.
Finally, he relented. "If you promise to stay together and stay close…" he jerked his head toward the interior of the jet, turned, and went to strap into a seat for takeoff. The young women hustled after him.
--
The solitary unit was kept in the coldest part of the Icebox. No windows, dim lighting, and cold enough for an inmate to see their own breath. The blood on Rhonda's forehead had dried, the scrape above her eyebrow starting to scab over. She hadn't bothered to wash her hands, and Calhoun's blood crusted under her fingernails. Her eyes still burned and watered, but less severely. She couldn’t feel her nose or fingertips. Resigned, defeated, she stared at the ceiling until she could see shapes moving like clouds. The new X on her arm had a long tail wrapping around her forearm because of how she'd rolled away from the hand making it. It was swollen and red. Already infected.
There were shuffling footsteps and the squeal of a rolling cart's wheel that halted in front of Rhonda's solitary cell. A tray scraped along the floor through the slot in the door. Rhonda made no move for it, or even turned her head to look, staring listlessly upward from her cot.
"Guestbook, darling," a familiar voice murmured gently, "you did so well. You only had to incapacitate Calhoun, but I don’t mind him being dead. You gave me what I needed. And then some."
Goosebumps already pebbled Rhonda's flesh, but a new chill sank into her bones. "Mimi?"
"With Calhoun dead,” she spoke softly, “that means Burton will be stationed at the yard. And Sinclair will be moved from the cell blocks to Burton's spot in the mess hall. Macias will be moved to cover the cell blocks, which means the control office will be stationed by my very own Robinson."
Tendrils of hope crept up Rhonda's throat. "Are you here to let me out?"
Mimi chortled, and it made Rhonda’s stomach turn with dread. "You killed a guard. I can't get you out. You'll have to wait for your friends. If they're actually coming."
“Wait--” but the squealing wheel started again, fading as Mimi brought the other isolated inmates their dinner. Rhonda took a shaky breath as tears stung her eyes.
--
Wade still had the torn sleeve wrapped around one fist as he forced down his dinner. When Mimi rolled the cart back in from the solitary unit, he brought his tray to the dishwashers and said with a gritty whisper, “Where is she?”
Mimi rolled her eyes, “Where is who?"
"Your favorite feral raccoon," he retorted, "Rhonda." When Mimi gave him a bored stare, he groaned and resisted the urge to kick the cart over. He rolled his shoulders and popped his neck once and amended, "Guestbook."
Mimi started unloading empty trays from the cart for the dishwashers. "Who are you again?"
Wade took a deep, sharp breath. "Captain Deadpool." A pause. He rolled his eyes. "I came here with Rhonda?"
Mimi flicked her forked tongue and feigned sympathy, "Oh, the pooooor separated lovers.” She let out a hissing laugh and shook her head as she continued stacking the empty trays by the dishwashers.
He struggled not to cough as he demanded, “Why did you get her thrown in solitary?”
The reptilian was blunt, “So they wouldn't kill her.”
“Then…” Wade laid a hand on the last tray to halt her. “Why save her life? I thought you’ve had it in for her before.”
Mimi jerked the tray from under his hands with a frosty glare. “Walk and talk,” she growled. Wade followed her as she waved off a few Vicious 13 members who tried to approach them. “I never tried that hard to have her killed, just made a show of it. Because, honestly? I like that dramatic bitch. If I’d known her while I was working corners, we might have been friends.” She went to the duty roster on a large whiteboard in the mess hall. “If your girl’s in solitary, no one else can take a swing at her until we take the office and let her out. Good enough for you?” She smiled grimly, but it was a challenge.
Wade opened his mouth to speak, then closed it and blinked. “So it’s protective custody. Well...can I go tell her that? I get a feeling you didn’t.”
“Solitary doesn't get visitors,” she returned with raised eyebrows and a shrug. She checked off the duties she had completed and leaned against the board, crossing her arms.
His scarred and pocked face split in a wide grin. “That’s why you did the meal run. Thought that seemed a little beneath you. You’re more of a Trunchbull type to me.” He started eyeing the duty roster. “What about...an errand or something?”
Mimi rolled her eyes. “You don’t need to get in there. She’s not going anywhere.”
An inmate with red hair and an abundance of freckles leaned between them to check off their task on the duty roster. When they left earshot, Wade leaned close to Mimi and said, “I need to know she’s alive, and good enough to fight when it’s time.”
She heaved an annoyed sigh, flashing teeth that were narrow and hooked like a python’s. She took the marker that was velcroed to the board and updated the duty roster with Wade’s name on a new task. “Go tell the dramatic bitch everything will be fine. And get some rest. You better be ready when the moment is right.” She flicked her forked tongue. “You any good with a mop?”
--
The yellow janitor bucket almost matched the yellow of the Icebox inmate jumpsuits. Both were a bad shade of yellow to begin with, a little faded, and full of greenish, brownish, and black marks from scuffs and dirt. Wade barely mopped the hall enough to keep the appearance that he was on janitorial duty. He swished and swiped a sloppy path to the cell number Mimi had told him. He didn’t care if the cameras caught him. If they did, it would take the guards a few minutes to come down here and pull him away anyway.
“Guess whooo?” Wade said at the door. Silence. “Hey,” he insisted. “Rhonda?” Another beat of silence.
There was a soft sigh and a voice mumbled, “What, Wade?”
“Ohhh thank god you’re alive,” he chuffed a relieved laugh. “I did not wanna have to explain to Colossus, ‘Sorry buddy, wifey lost her shit, wrecked wholesale ass, and then died!’ Haha...ha.”
“Day’s not over yet,” she said flatly. “I still might.”
Wade heard the despair in her voice and let out the longest sigh. “They really hit your head, huh? Well the good news is that Mimi landed you in solitary so nobody can make you disappear before the team gets here.” He crouched and checked the slot for the tray. The food and small carton of milk were still untouched. “Listen to me,” he said firmly as he groaned his way back to his feet, suppressing a cough. “Go to your tray on the floor and pour that milk on your face for the pepper spray. How’s your shoulder?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
The mop slapped on the floor with a little splash as Wade grunted in frustration. “It’s gonna matter soon. If you--” he broke into a fit of coughing. It took him a wheezing moment to catch his breath. He finished with a somber tone, “Depending on how the next couple days go, you might have to fight out of here on your own. Good looks and a great sense of humor only go so far against a bunch of fucking tumors.” He swished the mop around near the next cell and prompted, “You hear me?”
There was a rustling of fabric in Rhonda’s cell. Her voice sounded closer to the door when she said, “Even if they get here before we’re both killed, there’s no way he’ll let me go back. Not after what he sees here.”
Wade sighed and leaned against the wall by her door. He heard a particular flavor of heartbreak, dread, and self-hatred that was only too familiar. “Look, Colossus sees the best in everyone, and that’s why he’s got that fucking stupid rule about no killing. But it’s also why we love him, right? You wait, he’ll--”
Rhonda’s voice was strained, “This is different.”
“Well,” Wade plopped the mop back in the bucket and started rolling it. “Let’s get through this and find out.”

DBH - OC Ideal Pets
I'm still trying to finish up the Fallout AU Info Doc (I'm stuck on a few choices for what characters will be, especially Josh), so to keep up some activity I've decided to do a post about which kind of pet would be ideal for my OCs.
The list will be a bit long (because I have an absurd amount of OCs) so I'll put it under a cut if anyone is interested in taking a look.
---
[[MORE]]
--Androids--
Joel (EM400) - Despite being terrified of dogs, Joel's ideal pet is and will forever be Chitin, the android German Shepherd that has been nothing if not patient and loyal towards him. Joel's fear of dogs (especially rottweilers) still persists on some level, but Chitin helps him as a therapy animal.
RJ (EM400) - Despite being a rogue unit of the Jerry hivemind RJ still has a fascination for pirate thematics like his many brothers. As such, he has a fondness for exotic and brightly colored fish and other aquatic critters. The grand jewel of his vast collection is a tiny blue ringed octopus he calls Kraken.
Sergei (PL600) - Due to his many psychological issues, Sergei is not allowed to have a pet of his own. Instead he's being educated on proper petcare by Noah who keeps a close eye on him.
Noah (PL600) - Thanks to his great love for animals and veterinary studies, Noah is very capable around all sorts of critters. He has at least three cats (Elvis, Freddy, Brian), one dog (Melanie), five bunnies (Emma, Geri, Beyonce, Shakira, Kesha) and a guinea pig (Phil). They're all named after old singers which Sergei finds amusing.
Dimitri (PL600) - Dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. He has a lot of love to give to creatures that are inherently loyal and loving towards him. He's not only a professional dog-walker but also the Cullen family's official dogsitter. He has two puppies (A Rottweiler named Peach and a Doberman named Bowser) and is also quite attached to Roky and Chitin. He'd want to get a pet bat just to teach it to divebomb people (the threat of rabies is amusing to him).
Seymour (PL600) - Animal magnet. All animals just naturally love Seymour since he goes out of his way to feed strays. As a result you'll find a group of cats and dogs following him around town when he's either on or off duty as a police officer. He owns a massive Great Dane named Adonis.
Apollo (AP700) - He loves dogs but wouldn't be opposed to having a cat since they're more independent and he has Chance to care for. Despite his fondness for animals he'd appreciate it if Dimitri didn't constantly bring strays back home...
Proteus (IO100-P) - Took in his creator mom's three android cats and roomba after he returned home from the Io escape mission. He absolutely loves cats and would be the kind of guy to become a crazy cat-person. He thinks it's less of a problem and more of a compliment.
Dakota (CX100) - She would love to have a parrot. Chatty smart critters are a delight to her, and she'd greatly enjoy teaching it to greet people at the door or even on the phone. The only reason she doesn't own a pet is because she's very indecisive over what species she'd want to get.
Monochrome (CX100) - Not much of a pet owner. He's content with playing with Mile's bizarre android python, PB, who has the processor of a dog. He thinks she's pretty cool.
Baptiste (CX100) - He's terribly scared of animals.
Jindosh (HR900) - Horse kind of guy. He would greatly enjoy owning a ranch at some point, where he could train draft horses. He's not much of a rider himself, but just working with imposing and powerful animals brings him a sort of blissful tranquility.
Veronica (WR400) - She's a cat-person and isn't very fond of dogs, which is hilarious considering her and Scott's situation. She eventually gets a Siamese cat she calls Sir Rolland the Regal.
Scott (HR400 In K9300 Body) - As he's currently stuck inside a dog's body, it's pretty silly to get a pet. When he eventually does get a humanoid body again, he actually keeps the K9300 body and gets a processor for it. The dog's name is Old Friend.
Miles (RK300) - PB is the best noodle puppy in existence and he loves her too much to get any other pet. He has a great love and admiration for snakes, and thinks dogs are lovable and loyal.
Tristan (RK700) - He has a pet chameleon named Preston. It's a pretty ornery thing, but quite chill when he handles it. He likes to carry it around his apartment when he's alone and sort of vents to it since the reptile won't pass any judgment on his past actions. Tristan would kill for his pet chameleon if anyone so much as eyed it weirdly. He's incredibly attached to it.
Uma (???) - She spends a lot of time at Mr. Siddiq's abode to mingle with the exotic animal androids. She seems to be really taken with big cats and with wolves. At some point she rescues a wolfdog that was sent to a shelter to be euthanized. She named it Essex.
Bo Siddiq (YK500) - She doesn't keep pets since she already has access to all of her dad's rescued animal androids. Her best friend is Sasha the tigress.
Hearse (MC500) - He isn't very good with living beings, Dr. Ojomo's children are already complicated enough to look after, but he won't deny possums are pretty "metal". He started feeding one that's gotten into their garbage lately... He calls her Raven.
Eddie (WK218) - Myu's cat, Bravo, is his bestest friend in the whole world. He's extremely gentle with him and loves to spoil him rotten.
Stag (Hybrid Model) - Due to his alterations he's not patient enough with animals. He does follow a specific herd of deer sometimes and admires them from a distance. They seem to not be scared of him due to his antlers.
Bear (Hybrid Model) - Jordan wishes he could keep a pet as company. Sadly, since his reprogramming causes him to go aggressive whenever something approaches (excluding a very minute list), he doesn't want to risk going near any local fauna. He doesn't like bears very much (contrary to popular belief), instead if he could he'd like to own a rat (he thinks they're cool and pretty smart).
--Humans--
Valentina Hernández - She has Regi who honestly is more his own person and her personal bodyguard than a pet. She also rescues animal androids that have been negligently modded (she was the one who gave Miles PB since she couldn't undo the damage her original owner did to the poor python) by amateurs. If she were to get a pet she would go out of her way to either get a goose or a goat (her father had a goat named Pablo and her mother a goose named Rosalinda, they used to tell her stories about them).
Artyum Kutznekov - Has a brown tabby cat named Misha, and often rescues abandoned kittens he finds on the streets, nursing them back to health before finding them proper loving homes. He's a very nurturing guy despite his grumpy disposition and intimidating size. Val finds it hilarious how he can hold three kittens in one single hand.
Benjamin Peterson - Has a thing for spiders, which has caused several arguments between him and Val. He owns a Mexican Red Tarantula named Tarantino, and he is definitely the guy you call when there's a spider somewhere in your house. He either rescues them or (if they're big enough) offers them up to Tarantino as sacrifice.
Dr. Ojomo - She has a great fondness for birds, specifically birds of prey. On weekends she goes to a sanctuary to help rehabilitate endangered wild birds. She has handled owls and vultures alike. She's taken notice of Earl's habit of feeding the possum that keeps getting into their garbage and finds it adorable.
Elisa "Myu" Corvo - She's without a doubt a cat-person, but she does like dogs as well. She owns a rescue cat named Bravo.
Mr. Asad Siddiq - He rescues exotic animal androids from negligent owners. His collection is incredibly vast and even includes dinosaur androids. All of his animals (except a few very difficult abuse cases) are incredibly fond of him and will approach him openly. His favorites are Sasha the tigress (his very first rescue), Ahri and Jolene (a coral snake and a rattlesnake), and the large herd of giraffes he has amassed from different zoos.

11/11/11 Tag Game
rules: answer 11 questions, ask 11 questions, tag 11 people!
I was tagged by @surroundedbypearls, thanks! Her burning questions are:
Out of the 3 major franchises that teens love/loved (Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games) which oc would’ve had which favourite and why?
I...actually have only seen the Harry Potter movies and one (1) Twilight movie, which I watched specifically because I was asked to critique it (I was not kind), so I may be woefully underprepared to answer this question. But based on what I’ve seen of them over the years on tumblr, I guess I’ll say:
Benedict: probably Hunger Games
Matteson: Harry Potter
Jackie: Harry Potter, but she would definitely run an HP discourse blog and be VERY upset at JKR’s post-canon ‘revelations’
Rick: Would love Twilight and never admit it to a single soul
Alice: Hunger Games
Do you like scented candles/incense etc? What scents are your favourite?
Not generally. Strong smells really bother me. I can do a nice vanilla candle, sometimes, but the last time I owned one it lasted me the better part of a decade because it was very large and I used it very rarely.
What’s your favourite colour of Labrador? This is very important and you have to choose one.
Golden
Which Disney princess is your favourite?
Ariel was probably my first true love so it’s hard not to say her, but Merida and Moana have both put up a good show.
Do you listen to music while you write/draw/etc? What music do you listen to the most if you do?
I do! I have a Pandora playlist that I have carefully curated to remove anything with lyrics (it’s still a work on progress, but they’re rare now). Lyrics are generally distracting to me when I’m writing and especially when I’m drawing. The seeds for that station are all electronica, Irish folk, and epic movie soundtracks. You can listen to it here. I also have a specific inspiration playlist for Tall Tales on Spotify, which has lyrics and is available right here.
How do you balance creative stuff with lame duties like work and/or classes?
This semester I’ve tried a new thing where I schedule every hour that I’m at my school, which is 8a-9p Tuesday-Thursday. I have a one-hour block scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Tall Tales and another for freelance writing, which I don’t actually use right now and usually gets relegated to Tall Tales. This means that sometimes I manage to get time to do it over the weekend, and sometimes I don’t, but I always get something done each week.
Do you prefer winter or summer weather?
Winter
What’s your favourite cuisine and why? What’s your least favourite and why?
My favorite is pretty simple fare, actually. I like a good steak and potato dinner, or meatloaf. I don’t know what that cuisine is called.
My least favorite would be either French or Indian. I like meat and have legit medical trouble with strong spice, so Indian tends to not work for me. French is okay, I guess, but it isn’t impressive and there’s so much arrogance wrapped up in how great it is and the combination just really turns me off.
What are your ocs’ favourite fruits?
I was actually asked something very much like this for Storyteller Saturday! Though this is a bit more specific so I’ll get specific.
Benedict: Pears
Matteson: Bananas
Jackie: Blackberries
Rick: Strawberry milkshakes
Alice: Grapefruit
What are your ocs’ favourite sodas/soft drinks?
Benedict: Will not drink anything carbonated
Matteson: Mountain Dew
Jackie: Fanta
Rick: Dr. Pepper
Alice: Coca-Cola
Pick an oc, and say what terrible anime film adaptation represents them the best.
Rick is the Speed Racer of this particular game.
My Questions
What was the first inspiration for your story that you can recall?
What anime would your OC(s) recommend to someone looking to watch their first one?
Do you play any musical instruments?
What is your favorite non-writing hobby?
What Disney villain would fit best into the world of your WIP?
What is your favorite video game (or other type of game if that’s more your thing)?
Netflix has greenlit your story! Who do you want directing it?
British Comedy Face-off: Terry Pratchett, Monty Python, or Douglas Adams?
What is your honest opinion of the Star Wars prequels?
What is your OC(s)’s favorite band?
How concerned is your OC(s) about making the bed?
I tag @writeouswriter @eloquenceandemphasis @stephrawlingwrites @sunnydwrites @yetmorestories @conspiramo @marniebalboa @fair-folk-nonsense @sleepy-and-anxious @goblin-writer @kaigods

*Python in the recreational room, so blatantly staring at Ghost who is trying hard not to stare back* Price, walking over: So I hear you and Ghost have a sort of rivalry going on. Python, furrowing his eyebrows beneath his mask and balaclava: What? Price: You and Ghost... rivals? *realizes that Python is still confused* You aren't irritated with Ghost? Python: Why would I be irritated with Ghost? Price: Because he's being as mysterious as you are? Python: ... The man's entire shtick is that he keeps his identity anonymous, mysterious comes with the territory. Besides, I quite like that we're both mysterious. Price: Then why are you staring at him so intensely? Python, shamelessly: Have you seen the man? He's HOT. Price: ... what?
*****************************************************************
A/N: In case it isn't entirely clear, because it's written a little weirdly (my fault), Ghost and Python's "rivalry" is one-sided. Ghost is terribly irritated by Python and Python's just annoying him for shits and giggles. Also yes, Python is the one that falls first (though he hasn't yet fallen in love, he just thinks Ghost is hot).

A/N: Python's introduction to Ghost!! Note that this OC will eventually be with Ghost.
*****************************************************************
Ghost finished up his workout in the base gym, grabbing a towel and wiping off the sweat on his neck. He waved goodbye to the few soldiers he knew, heading out of the base gym and towards the barracks.
As he walked, he heard whispers of an American joining one of the task forces as their medic. Supposedly it was because the task force needed a medic and there weren't any SAS medics who could be spared.
He huffed at the thought, wishing a silent good luck to the task force that was unlucky enough to have an American medic.
Ghost opened the door to the barracks which were assigned to everyone in the 141. As he entered the barracks, he expected it to be empty since he knew the rest of the 141 were away training or doing paperwork. However, as he stepped inside, it wasn't empty.
There stood a tall, shirtless man who had to be no taller than six-foot-six and had light brown skin that seemed to be covered in tattoos. With his back towards Ghost, he was the process of putting on a shirt, his head covered by a black balaclava, and Ghost could see the full sleeve tattoos of snakes and a large tattoo of a snake spiraling up the man's back. The man was burly, muscular with a thick layer of fat on top of the muscles.
Ghost snapped out of his stupor, remembering who he was and clearing his throat. "You're in the wrong barracks, mate," he said, annoyance lacing his voice as he stared at the irritatingly mouth-watering man. "These barracks are for the Task Force 141."
The man finished putting on his shirt, somehow managing to do so without disturbing his balaclava and mask, before he turned to face Ghost. He had on a black hard-plated mask which had gold etchings of a snake coiling all around the mask.
"No, I'm in the right barracks," the man said, Ghost noting the American accent and the way the man's voice was deep but harsh. "Captain Price showed me where to go."
At that words, it clicked in Ghost's head that this was the American medic he had heard about on his way to the barracks. The task force that got said medic was the 141. Great.
"So you're the medic that has the whole base alight with gossip," Ghost grumbled, stepping closer and eyeing the man. His eyes settled on the man's mask and it ticked him off how much they looked similar. "Why do you wear a mask?"
The man seemed unperturbed by the way Ghost was eyeing him warily, as if he was bored. "For the same reason you probably wears yours. For anonymity," he replied. "Call me Python."
Ghost raised his eyebrow underneath his mask, not that Python could see it. "Python?" He tested the callsign on his tongue before huffing in annoyance. "That's a mouthful."
"Yes, but it's not like I chose the callsign myself." Python lifted up his duffel bag with ease and set it down on the bunk that wasn't being used. He definitely sounded bored. "Any other burning questions?"
"Why do they call you "Python"?" Ghost asked, ignoring how rude Python was being. It wasn't like Ghost was being nice either.
"You going to tell me why they call you "Ghost"?" Python shot back, turning back around to face Ghost and crossing his arms.
Ghost scowled beneath his mask, crossing his arms as well. "Don't do that, don't be cagey with me." His irritation was rising steadily. "I'm the mysterious one in this task force."
Python surprisingly laughed, his laughter deep and lacking any actual amusement. He stepped closer, making Ghost step back instinctively. "I guess you're not the only mysterious one here anymore, Ghost." He sucked his teeth. "Deal with it."
Python then turned away from Ghost again, the sharp change of movement making his medical bag clack against his uniform, drawing Ghost's attention to it.
"You have a shitty attitude for a medic," Ghost muttered underneath his breath, glowering at the man in front of him now.
"I didn't think the great and all-powerful Ghost would cower at a little bit of attitude thrown his way." Python taunted, glancing back at Ghost before unzipping his duffel bag to take out something. He then took a big sniff of the air before making a sound of disgust. "You should shower, you stink."
He zipped up the duffel bag again and then moved past Ghost, leaving the barracks to go God knows where. One minute he was there and the next, Ghost was alone, staring at where Python had been.
Ghost blinked once and then twice, his eyebrows furrowing. "I'm going to have Price transfer him," he grumbled to himself before making his way to the communal bathroom.
*****************************************************************
A/N: I didn't know this OC x Canon relationship would be rivals to lovers (I don't think we can classify them as enemies, not even sure if we could classify them as rivals really), but as Python likes to chant in my head, "Stone might be a bigger bitch, but I'm still a bitch!" (I don't know why he likes to chant that in my head.) So um, this is just how Python is, I guess.

Give Me Something to Work with
A/N: If this is the first post of Python's series that you're seeing, read this masterlist first to get the full context.
Minors and Ageless Blogs Do Not Interact!! While this post is SFW, my blog isn't!!
*****************************************************************
Python entered the base gym at four in the morning, having gotten there extremely early so no one else was there. He needed privacy, craved it even if he was in the military.
It was hard to have privacy in the military, which would've made the military a terrible fit for someone who was as paranoid as Python, but he wanted to serve his country more than he wanted to hide away from the world.
He walked over to weights section of the gym, starting his workout by lifting weights. He kept his mask and balaclava on, simply in a tank top and shorts, huffing and puffing beneath his balaclava as he lifted the weights.
Python was just about to switch to the bench press when Ghost walked into the gym, stopping short at the sight of him. He figured Ghost might just flee at the sight of him, but instead of leaving, Ghost walked right up to him.
"You going to the mess hall for breakfast later?" Ghost asked Python, surprising the other man.
Python shook his head, glancing at Ghost before focusing on putting his desired weights onto the bench press bar. "No, I already ate breakfast."
It was a lie, he never had anything more than a protein shake before working out and always had a hearty breakfast afterwards. But he didn't eat with the rest of the 141, to keep his identity anonymous.
Ghost saw through Python's lie, his jaw clenching beneath his own balaclava. "Come eat with us after breakfast, the rest of the guys will be up by the time we finish our workouts," he said, his words soft like he was trying to gently coax Python to open up to the 141, but Python didn't understand why.
"I don't eat in the mess hall anyways," Python muttered, feeling his paranoia spike at the thought of eating around all of those people.
"Then we'll all take our food back to the barracks and eat there," Ghost replied, adamant about Python eating with them.
Python scoffed, looking down at Ghost. "Why do you care about me eating with you all?" He couldn't help himself as he laughed, a mischievous glint in his brown eyes and a smirk spreading beneath his mask. "Aw, do you already have a soft spot for me, Ghostie?"
While Python couldn't exactly see Ghost's scowl, it was evident from the way Ghost's mask creased that he was indeed scowling at Python's words. "No," he answered, his words harsh. He stepped closer to Python, squaring up to the taller man. "I don't have a soft spot for you, because you haven't let me in enough for that. I know how hard it is to trust others and I don't trust you like you don't trust me, but you're our medic."
"We're supposed to trust you," Ghost continued, on a roll now. "We have to trust that you, as our medic and a fellow soldier, have our backs in the field. You're there to patch us up, something that requires a great deal of trust on our part. So for fucks' sake, give me something to work with! Give me a reason to trust you with my life in the field or transfer yourself to somewhere else. Because we'll never trust you if you don't first try to trust us."
Python was taking in Ghost's words when Ghost started to walk away, probably to workout in another section of the gym.
"Ghost!" he called out against the seed of doubt in the back of his mind, his paranoia begging him to keep himself locked away from everyone else. He waited until Ghost turned back around to look at him to continue. "Spot me? I need a spotter... and I want to try and trust you all."
Ghost's brown eyes flickered with an emotion that came too fast for Python to register and he nodded. "I can be your spotter, sure," he replied, walking back to where Python was.
Python took a deep breath, trying to quell his growing paranoia before moving around the bench press. He sat on the bench and laid back, waiting until Ghost was in position behind him before lifting the bar.
As he did each rep, he saw Ghost out of the corner of his eye, ready to catch the bar in case it fell, and the sight of Ghost so diligently standing there made Python's paranoia slowly drift back in the abyss of his mind. Seconds ticked by, Python taking breaks in between reps until he was finished.
"Thank you," he murmured, getting up and off the bench. He then shifted on his feet as he started getting sheepish, the first sign of emotion Ghost had ever seen on the man's body language. "I could spot you too if you want to bench press as well?"
Ghost was shocked at the offer and he took it graciously. It led to them working out together, not really talking, at least not about anything personal, but it was better than the irritation that had enveloped Ghost when he had thought about Python days before.
There was still a long road to go before they both could trust each other and then like each other, but it was a small step forward. And that was all Ghost asked for.
*****************************************************************
A/N: Python's a softie underneath all of that bravado, which is the case with most, if not all, of my OCs. I have a type of character I like to write, okay?
Ghost being able to melt away a little bit of Python's paranoia makes my heart go brr. Also yes, I did find myself clever for having Ghost say the title of this post.

Python with a Naga reader?
Maybe he gets lost in a jungle and finds a very long, sleepy(and muscular) Naga man
-💬
Python was lost and with no way to contact the 141, he knew that very clearly. They had all been separated when a mission went awry, all of them forced to run off in separate directions. His radio was useless, only thing he could hear when he tried it was static, his map was nowhere to be found.
All he had was his sidearm and his medical bag.
But at least he wasn't lost in a forest, because then he'd have to worry about bears and he was terrified of bears.
So he trudged on, knowing his situation definitely could be worse. As he was walking, he tripped over something long and large.
He fell onto the jungle floor, grunting loudly as he hit the ground. He managed to push himself up onto his hands and knees, turning around to see what he had tripped over.
"Holy shit," he murmured, his eyes widening underneath his black balaclava and mask. He was staring at a sleeping Naga, a real-life Naga.
He had heard countless of myths about the divine beings but to see one with his own eyes? Well, he surely must be fucked, considering he tripped on a Naga.
His panic increased when he saw you waking up and he scrambled to be out of reach. "Shit, I'm so sorry. I was walking, I didn't see you, and I tripped," he blurted out. "I'm so sorry, please don't kill me!"
You rubbed your head, blinking your bleary eyes open wide to chase away the sleepiness. You managed a small, warm smile. "It's okay, accidents happen."
"You... You're not mad?" He asked, his suspicions rising on instinct.
"I'm not mad, though you do seem lost," you said, unfurling and slithering upwards until you were fully upright.
Python nodded, his eyes on you. He couldn't believe you were real, and hot. "Yeah, I'm lost."
Your forked tongue flicked out, smelling for any predators nearby. When you were sure there were no predators, you said, "I'll take you to my cave, since the sun is setting. It's better than you roaming around all night, not knowing where to go. I also have some maps you can use."
"Okay."
Python was wary of you, of course he was. But he also didn't like his chances if he decided to fight you or run. So he settled for following after you, watching you slither to the direction of your cave.
Yeah, the 141 definitely weren't going to believe this when he reunited with them.

*Ghost and Soap talking in the base gym in between their workouts* Ghost, bench pressing furiously: God, he infuriates me! He doesn't even understand how annoying he is! Soap, spotting him and half-heartedly listening: Yeah, he's a bitch, Ghost. Ghost, huffing and puffing: *continues to aggressively lift the bench press bar* And he never takes off that fucking mask and balaclava! How am I supposed to trust him when he won't even tell us a little bit about himself?? Soap, not even going to tell Ghost how hypocritical he's being: Preach. *Later on, Ghost is on the treadmill and Gaz and Soap are talking* Gaz: Who was Ghost talking about earlier? He sounded super pissed and a recruit told me he was basically cussing out whoever he was talking about. Soap, sighing: It was Python, he was talking about Python. Gaz: It's been a week, he still isn't over Python's mysteriousness? Soap: I don't think he ever will at this point.

Stone, pointing at Naga!Reader eating a boar: You're in love with that.
Python: HE HAS A NAME AND IS AMAZING!
It's so sad that both Stone and Python are in different universes. We were robbed of their friendship.

Ghost, staring at Bear Hybrid!Reader trying to court Python: ... But he's going to be mine.
Stop giving me bullets if you don’t want me to load the gun 😭🫧
Python falling in love with Simon and having to come to terms with the fact that he’ll have to accept the polar bear hybrid that Simon’s already in a relationship with. Python eventually falling for the reader too and it keeps him awake at night.
Load the gun, bestie.
Python is just like "How did I get here, in this point of my life??"
But then he sees Simon and is just like "Okay, I'm in love." And then he looks at Polar Bear Hybrid and it hits him, "Oh shit, I'm in love with him too."
