"Imogen just screams loudly, her eyes bright red. All of the spider-like lightning marks on her body brighten before they slowly subside as she returns." #C3E83
ashley forgetting what spell she’s concentrating on as she gets slammed by a boulder but still rolling a natural 20 and maintaining it is maybe the most fearne moment in this campaign so far
I've never seen Sam break with stress as much as I have in c3. As Nott, he was casually flipping his tablet to Liam after escaping a dragon to show him the one hitpoint he'd been rockin' for an unreal amount of time.
Now it's all just "I fucked up, okay!? I did a bad. I did bad." and "...as a bonus action you can impart a-- fUCK!"
My hot take on Bell's Hells right now is that they keep releasing teakettles of pressure with little fights and team building exercises but we need a Bard's Lament volcano level of blowing up and breaking apart before we get anywhere
Okay this is the beginning of what I suspect will be many thoughts about c3e83. Spoilers below as always.
Having just rewatched this part of the episode, "The Disagreement" was far less of a disagreement than fandom is trying to make it out to be. It starts with Imogen and Orym misunderstanding each other. Orym misinterprets Imogen's "Ya'll I don't know if I'd be able to fight that again" as meaning she wants to run away from the fight all together and so he pushes her to keep going. Imogen misinterprets Orym's "...and you're our best shot of getting close and understanding" as him saying he wants her to reach out again to Predathos right then (she even says as much). Laudna immediately adopts Imogen's interpretation of what Orym said and reacts by saying Imogen doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to, which Orym misinterprets as her saying Imogen (and the others) don't have to continue the fight.
But then they talk it out - Imogen sharing her perspective and Orym clarifying his intent until they're both able to get back on the same page and move on (wouldn't it be great if the fandom displayed a similar capacity).
It was such an interesting exchange that may have big character or story implications later. But what it wasn't was a huge falling out, or a display of ill intent on anyone's behalf.
orym saying “imogen, I believe you. I’m guessing you're not wrong, but what they’re all gathering here to do is they’re going to make it happen one way or another. you’re our best shot of getting close and understanding.” and laudna asserting “you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do” and orym saying “of course she doesn’t have to.” and then turning back to imogen and saying “but you know what’s at stake.” and imogen saying “of course.” and laudna exclaiming “you’re still pressuring her, though!” and imogen saying “I’m not going to run away. we need to fight this.” and orym saying “the risk, you’re right, it’s real. but I don’t even want to think of the alternative. so does she have to do it? no. but I am pressuring her to do it.” (bonus: ashton adding “let’s not pretend it’s not going to happen one way or another anyway. you’re either going to end up down there on your terms or on somebody else’s. it’s a fucking inevitability.” and orym saying “and I’m not just pressuring her. I’m pressuring you, and him, and them, and me.” and laudna acknowledging “we’re all here.”)
