ULTIMATE X-MEN – On Sale 3/6 Writer/Artist: Peach Momoko Visionary creator Peach Momoko reinvents mutantkind for the Ultimate age! In Japan, when a young student named Hisako Ichiki develops armor powers, she discovers she’s a mutant—and she’s not the only one! Meet a new generation of mutants, filled with original and familiar X-Men characters. Together, they’ll learn what it means to be mutant in the Ultimate Universe as they explore their emerging powers and the startling ways they connect to folklore, legend, and magic! “I am very honored to be a part of the new Ultimate Universe,” Momoko said. “I am very careful in delivering the unique X-Men mutant elements while still being true to my vision and voice. I am also very proud (and surprised) that I was given enough freedom from C.B. Cebulski and Jonathan Hickman to create a brand new X-Men character. It might not be the normal portrayal of a super hero… but, just like with my Momoko-verse stories,  I am excited to introduce everyone to this new world.”

C.b Cebulski (the guy who pretended to be Japanese & I think he’s the editor in chief of marvel comics) apparently wants Wanda & Vision to get back together 😭😭
How likely is that to be true??
https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/this-week-in-marvel-cb-cebulski-interview-avengers-guardians-gwen-stacy
So, that's an old interview from March, and he's talking specifically about The Avengers (2023), which, at the time, hadn't even come out yet. We're now six issues into The Avengers, and there have been no new developments in Wanda and Vision's relationship. The latest issue did have something of a callback to their history together, but it took place in an alternate reality dreamworld.
The Avengers is kicking of a new story arc next month, so I don't know what's coming, and I don't know what to expect. What I do know is that Cebulski is neither writing nor editing the book itself, nor is he a part of the creative team on Scarlet Witch or SW&Q. I'm much more interested in what Orlando and MacKay have to say about Wanda's love life-- Cebulski has a lot of power in the company, but I don't believe that he typically gets to make this sort of decision on his writers' behalf. Orlando still has the most creative control over Wanda, and he hasn't done anything with her and Vision-- in fact, he's actually teased her getting back with Jericho.
As I said when this article was first published, a lot of the buzz about Wanda and Vision being on a team together felt like it was pandering to the M C U audience. The two of have them have been on teams together multiple times in the last decade, but people didn't start jumping to conclusions about it until that stupid show came out.

"We, as Marvel and particularly editor Mark Paniccia, who has a keen interest in Iron Fist, have a number of different ways we’re gonna celebrate the character—both the character of Danny Rand, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary, and the Iron Fist itself—the powers, the legacy, K’un-Lun, the dragon, the other Immortal Weapons...We’re now working to get back all the creators who have contributed to Iron Fist over the years in hopes that they’ll all contribute something new to the legacy, be it a story set in the past, during their run or something new."
The wonderful Omar Guerrero (iamironfist23 on Twitter) has been doing a countdown to the 50th anniversary of Iron Fist over on Twitter, which I highly recommend checking out! A few days ago, he posted this exciting interview he conducted with Marvel Editor-In-Chief C.B. Cebulski, who shared some details about what we can expect in terms of Marvel's celebration of Danny, Colleen, and Misty's big milestone year.

Unlocking Marvel's Ultimate X-Men with Peach Momoko: A Dive into Mutant Realms and Artistic Visions!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey there, comic enthusiasts! Get ready for an exclusive dive into the world of Marvel's Ultimate X-Men with none other than Peach Momoko herself.
Starting off, Peach shares that she wasn't initially familiar with X-Men but fell in love with the concept of mutants navigating their powers amidst societal challenges. Her approach to the new Ultimate Universe was influenced by this fascination.
Curious about how Peach landed the opportunity for Ultimate X-Men? Well, she got the call from Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski while teaching at Disneyland Paris. Talk about a happy surprise!
As Peach reinvents the X-Men in this Ultimate Universe, she initially felt the weight of the project but gained confidence in her vision over time. It's shaping up to be a unique take on the iconic mutants.
The series seems to have a coming-of-age vibe, drawing from Peach's own experiences during her school days. She's keen on exploring the similarities and differences in the environments today's youth navigate.
Wondering why Peach chose Armor for her reinterpretation of X-Men? She stumbled upon the character while exploring Japanese X-Men figures and found Armor's story intriguing, following her philosophy of letting characters guide the narrative.
Maystorm, a character inspired by a New Champions variant cover program, is a fusion of a Japanese schoolgirl uniform and Storm's iconic look. Fresh, fun, young – that's Maystorm's vibe.
As for Maystorm's motivations, Peach keeps it mysterious, leaving us eager to uncover her story in the series.
Peach assures that her Ultimate X-Men isn't directly influenced by classic X-Men stories. She believes that C.B. and Jonathan Hickman chose her to bring something entirely new to the table.
Known for her breathtaking and sometimes horrifying artwork, Peach sees Ultimate X-Men as a challenge in speed. Being both the writer and artist on a monthly comic series pushed her to deliver quality consistently.
Closing off, Peach reflects on never getting tired of drawing X-Men characters. With so many to choose from, she finds joy in bringing each one to life.
Don't forget, Ultimate X-Men #1 hits the shelves on March 6, 2024. So mark your calendars, X-Fans, and secure your copy before it flies off the shelves. Thanks for tuning in to this X-Men Monday, and keep those pages turning for more exciting Marvel adventures!

We've done so much with the Vision of late. Jed is going to be really taking and doing something with the character [that] I think is going to surprise a lot of people. The relationship with Wanda is something fans really fondly remember and it's something that for me, personally, I want to get back to. "I have specific thoughts about romance and marriage and children and everything in comics, for better or worse in some fans' minds. But when it comes to Wanda and Vision, they were together when I was growing up, and what is love between a synthetic human and Scarlet Witch, a human, was just fascinating to see so many different writers and artists explore, and I'm glad we're going to be getting back to it.
