being in a love triangle with byleth and shez
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: byleth eisner x gn!reader x shez
tags: love triangle, rivarly, arguments, genderneutral shez & byleth
Tumblr media
byleth might've caught your eyes first, by being a strong and yet mysterious mercenary, but shez had been your friend for much longer!
both of them had something positive about them, as well as negative things you couldn't possibly ignore
the most glaring negative about both of them was their rivalry with each other! the two of them really managed to bring out each other's worst side when they were around each other…
their rivalry was first only on the battlefield, but when it became more obvious that both of them were in love with you, their rivalry soon swapped over into your everyday life
both shez and byleth want to win your heart, but neither of them is as direct as simply confessing to you
instead, both of them try to hog up all your time, so that the other one can't be near you! it's usually rather subtle, by trying to be the first to ask you out for dinner or to train together
it's always a race who gets to you first and it seems to be an unspoken rule that once one of you spends time with you, the other one stays far away
trying to make the two of them spend time together only backfires, as your attempts to help them become friends often end in arguments between shez and byleth
eventually, you set the two of them an ultimatum: you'll only pick one of them, if the two of them can finally get along!
they don't need to become best friends, but you want both of them to be part of your life, without having to compromise!

How Byleth, Kaze and Alear spend Valentine’s Day with their S/O
A/n: last minute but I thought this will be cute. Also Byleth and Alear will be gender neutral for this
~Byleth~
•admittedly Byleth never celebrated holidays, especially Valentine’s Day, or at least not in the same way as others do.
•so once you two started dating, they definitely wanted to try
•Byleth most likely never had a relationship with anyone besides you, so they ask around for advice on what to do
•let’s say some advice was very useful or just fat out a no for Byleth depending on who they asked
•probably the best came from Seteth, due to him having a wife before, and Dorothea since she probably knows a thing or two about dating but not going overboard
•due to this being Byleth first Valentine with anyone, they want it to be special
•buys some gifts like chocolate, flowers and stuffed animals
•totally settling up a tea date
•will make it romantic as humanly possible
•Sothis probably using divine pulse just this once out of battle in case Byleth does something wrong because she feels nice
•if you get them something, they might actually cry
•expect some more physical affection from them, even though they are not the most openly affectionate, they want you to feel the most love on this day
•so, pretty good partner. But expect some awkwardness
~Kaze~
•this guy is more classy and basic then Byleth.
•will keep things more simple, take you out for the day.
•will make your breakfast in bed, buy your flowers and chocolate
•he may not have much relationship experience but does know how to treat his partner thanks to conversations he overheard and seen from others
•spends lots of time with you, due to him asking Corrin to take the day off with you (which they agreed to)
•honestly a 10/10 partner
~Alear~
•oh this poor sweet child
•they are clueless on the day of love. Heck, they don’t even remember the day
•not that anyone can blame them, they are pretty busy with being pretty much a god and having memory loss
•but when they do find out the day. May it be that you tell them or by someone else. Expect a lot of gifts
•chocolates, stuffed animals, flowers, anything you want. They will get it for you
•they will spoil you all day
•but you just wanna spend time with them. So you just walked around with not or any people around
•it’s rare to get a one on one with them. So spending time with them is what you want
•Alear doesn’t really know what to do on this day, and somewhat find it funny that you get to show your love to someone one day of the year
•probably a good partner for this day, probably will go into a panic and possibly forgot about the day last minute but hey they tried

Be Beating my still heart
M!Byleth x fem! reader Drabble in Byleth's pov.
" I wonder what the professor thinks about on his off time?"🤔
Tumblr media
With nothing but the scratching of my pen against my paper being my company as I grade my students' work. My concentration is on Today's assignment and tomorrow's lesson plan. The candle's flickering flame cast its golden glow on the pile of tasks, notes, and other aimless clutter on my desk.
However, tonight, like the ones before, my thoughts begin to drift. I feel slight irritation that my thoughts begin to affect my duty, but at the same time, welcome the memories from whence we talked last. The teacher assistant for Manuela... and she was lucky to have you.
My pen slowed to a stop as I lost myself in my own thoughts. Her enthusiasm was infectious. I could feel the excitement in her voice when she talked about something she loved. And that smile. My favorite one; it was addicting to see. Brighter than the light of the candle on my desk, as hot and passionate as the flame that burns. My hot tea grew colder and colder as it sat untouched, and my attention was my conversation, her smile bringing out mine. It's pretty rare to get her all to myself since she always works or tutors the students around the monastery. Is it selfish to crave more?
Ever since I found out the truth that my heart does not beat, I wondered if I was even capable of feeling stronger emotions. But the fluttery feeling in my stomach when I hear that cute laugh is unmistakable. A sense so foreign, so raw, and a little frightening, and yet I can't get enough. I could feel it now, the heat around my face and a weight being on my chest.
What is it that you like, I wonder? I want to know her more... I want to memorize her favorite foods. I want to ease her discomfort and keep that bright smile on her face. I want her to share everything she loves with me, as I'm willing to do for her. I want to protect her, hold her close, and cherish her.
I want to hear the beat that I do not have. Will it be faster if I lean against her chest? Will I hear her breath shake like mine? Will she run her fingers through my hair like I've been dreaming to do to hers?
My thoughts ran wild, my candle long burnt out as I sat in the darkness, laying my head on the desk, the shadows hiding my softened look, my arms hiding my pink cheeks.
....
I wonder what father would have thought of her?

Would you write for Sylvain x Cursed!Fem!Reader? I don’t really mind what the curse is or how you’d solve it, so you can get creative with this one! :D
Hey, lovely! This was actually really interesting and super fun. It was nice to work with establishing subtlety and growing that into a nice crescendo for the story's climax. I really got to work out my brain on how certain characters would handle certain scenarios, and of course there was the matter of coming up with how the curse would be applied.
I hope this is what you were looking for!
Requests are open. The story will be continued under the cut.
“Good morning. We have a lot to cover today, so I’ll need everyone to sit down as soon as you walk in,” Professor Byleth commented over her shoulder, drawing up the battle strategy your class had been discussing for the past week.
You entered the Blue Lions’ classroom, a small black notebook in your hand as you moved to get to your seat.
“Oh,” your professor noted, “Seteth told me this was sent to you.”
She was gesturing toward a slim box on the edge of her desk. Maybe it would fit a pen? But then why would anyone go through the trouble?
“Would you mind if I opened it now?”
“The way I see it, it’s yours. You can do whatever you’d like.”
Curious, you took the box back to your seat. It seemed you were not the only one intrigued; Mercedes and Ashe turned to watch from their chairs in front of you.
“What do you think it is?” she asked, “I’ve never received a package before.”
Ashe gave a sad smile, “Neither have I. It makes me wonder.”
More eyes came to fall on you as the tape was removed from the edges and the lid was lifted lightly.
Upon seeing what it was, you gave a small gasp. Resting inside on a soft cushion was a deep blue pendant looped through a small silver chain. The necklace was understated, and undoubtedly to your taste. You would have picked such a piece out for yourself had you seen one in the market.
“Ooh!” Annette cooed behind you, bracing her hands on her table as she stood at her seat behind you, “It’s so pretty!”
“Someone…knows me very well,” you chose your words carefully.
Sylvain leaned in next to you, scanning over the necklace with a look on his face you couldn’t quite read, “Do you know who sent it?”
Good question. You would have to meet with this person and have a little chat. No one gifted something like this purely out of kindness. Not to you, anyway. But when you lifted the cushion, there was only a slip of parchment about as long as your index finger underneath.
You set the cushion aside, reaching in to turn over the paper.
Eternity
That wasn’t helpful at all. If anything, knowing that paper came with the box only made you more confused.
The phrase was iterated to your friends as you placed the necklace back in its place.
“Maybe it’s some new jewelry line looking to get its name out there,” Annette beamed, “Ooh, you’re so lucky!”
If that was the case, why pick an understated piece? On top of that, why you? Sure, you were the daughter of a Kingdom noble, but someone had to have gone out of their way for this. To learn that you were at Garreg Mach, and then to ensure you would actually receive the package?
Even Ingrid was interested, it seemed, “You should try it on. It would be a shame for it to sit away waiting for some special occasion. Besides, the jeweler would probably want you to show it off.”
You weren’t the showy type, but you could admit you were just as interested in it as she was.
“I suppose…” the attention from your classmates was beginning to make you shy.
They weren’t interested in you, though! It was the necklace they wanted to see, you reminded yourself.
Easily, the silver chain was lifted from the cushion and wrapped around your neck. Clasping it in the back, you found that it fell just below your collarbone.
Mercedes gave a soft giggle, “It looks wonderful on you! Ingrid is right, it would be a shame for it to collect dust somewhere in your room.”
She’s right.
“Okay, then. I…guess I’ll wear it often.”
Professor Byleth gave a small scowl from the front of the room, “Sylvain, I hope you studied your notes from my last lecture as closely as you’re studying that necklace.”
“What? Of course I did! I studied during the lecture.”
You noticed he didn’t even have a notebook.
“Very well, then. Why don’t we start by having you tell us more about the…”
~~~~~~
Thankfully, you had eaten a good breakfast this morning. The professor didn’t release anyone until long after lunch had passed. It didn’t help that you had spent every second writing down as much as possible to be looked over later.
You elected to bring your lunch with you to your dorm, mind focused solely on reviewing what the Professor had spouted during the lecture for the group examination tomorrow. It seemed she was more adamant about the topic of battalion management than the other subjects the monastery advocated.
An hour or two passed, and you had successfully copied the important bits of the lecture onto your spare pages. This way, your studies for the rest of the night were more efficient.
By the time the sky turned to a dark midnight, you were still sitting at your desk in your room.
That’s enough for today.
Wanting to prepare for bed, you reached back to remove the clasp of the necklace you received. As though something was triggered by the action, it was set aglow with light.
Not right now.
“…”
Nevermind that it glows! You don’t want to take the necklace off. A new desire has overcome you.
You were in the mood for a stroll. Specifically, one to the woods outside of Garreg Mach.
The hallway was too dark for you to see properly, but you didn’t care. You shut the door behind you as you left, maneuvering about the monastery confidently until you came near the gates.
You stifled the glow of your necklace with one of your hands, sneaking around the guards as you let your feet lead the way. Somehow, these were the surest steps you had ever taken. Your destination was somewhere you had never been, yet one you were always meant to visit.
That very sense of determinism kept you mindlessly moving. Trees, leaves, grass, and several shadows drooping over everything stood as the only landmarks on your path. You treaded forth until you came to a gradual halt.
Calmly, you turned to your left. A woman in robes you could not clearly make out in the darkness made her presence known.
She approached you with a laidback ease; you were no threat to her.
And why would you be? You are safe with her. She only has your best interests in mind.
“Good to see you have accepted my gift, my muse,” the woman drew nearer, her hand brushing over your collarbone to touch the pendant, “You wear it well.”
You knew nothing of your current situation, but there was a settled feeling within you. There would be no need for questions. All the knowledge you needed would be provided, and what you weren’t told, you didn’t need to worry about.
A lovely way of saving your mind the trouble, is it not? Truly, she cares for you.
“Now, you must have seen enough of her at Garreg Mach to give me a proper report,” she gleaned, removing her hand from your neck.
Tell her all about your professor.
“Wh…why?” you managed. Your head was beginning to feel foggy, and you could no longer remember how you got here.
Hush. Do not ask questions. Only listen.
This voice in your mind was beginning to make your head spin.
“Perhaps you are too tired from your day to continue. You should not be able to resist.”
There were so many questions you wished to ask, but the blanket of exhaustion weighed heavier upon your mind than the cloud of curiosity.
“A major fault of my own design, no doubt. There is no reason to fret, though. I promise you and I will work through the problems together until we get this right.”
A rustle in the bushes caught your attention, though you didn’t get to point it out before the woman’s hand found your collar once more.
“Now, erase this encounter from your memory. Forget.”
~~~~~~
Byleth found herself working tediously at her desk an hour before classes were slated to start.
She saw you late last night, soundlessly following the gleam of your jewel until you covered it. By then, tracking you through the woods was child’s play. You did not seem yourself, so she played it safe and waited to learn where you were headed before revealing herself.
Only, she never did confront you in those woods. No, the problem ran much deeper than a student sneaking out after hours. It only took her noticing your strange gait and how the mage that appeared treated you to determine as much.
The professor needed information, though she would not have hesitated to attack if she believed you were in true danger.
It seemed the woman still needed you; however, Byleth could only hope to guess how long your usefulness would last. No matter. The witch had given her a day, and that was all she needed to form a decent plan.
The former mercenary silently debated whether to confront you directly about it or not. While it was true she left the scene early, Byleth still managed to learn that you weren’t in on the act, so to speak. Your mind was likely being surveyed, which meant asking any suspicious questions could ruin any element of surprise she might have. You couldn’t know she had a plan.
In truth, she wondered if you knew you were in danger, at all. Fortunately, there were some things she could ask.
Byleth noticed you enter the classroom a few minutes early. You had a few questions on her lecture from yesterday, it seemed.
“I would say good morning, but you look like you hardly slept last night. Were you up late?” she greeted.
Your brows furrowed slightly as you brought a hand to your cheek, “Do I? That’s strange…I actually remember falling asleep much earlier than usual.”
That was surprising. Did you not remember your encounter?
Beginning to cover the areas of confusion you wanted to discuss, the professor noted your strange clothing choice. A shawl was draped over your shoulders and covered your collarbone. You had never worn such an item before, so you must have chosen it for a reason.
Her guess? It was likely to shield the pendant from the notice of others.
Eventually, all of the Blue Lions found their way into the room and classes began. What the class didn’t know was that things would go a little differently today.
“Now, I know some of you may be upset or confused about this new arrangement, but there has been a schedule change,” she opened, standing at her desk, “Rather than doing our group work this weekend, our class will be completing its tasks today. Don’t ask me why, I don’t make the rules.”
Oh, she very much did make the rules, but nobody in this class would be so aggravated about the alteration that they would march up to Seteth just to verify the new schedule. Nobody in their right mind would contest her if it meant they’d be taking that exam instead.
“Partners and jobs will change, and as such will be decided by myself.”
There were a few murmurs at this.
You spoke out, “How long will this new arrangement last, Professor?”
“Only for this week, don’t worry.” Byleth looked to the list she had created before class, “Now, you and Mercedes will be on stable duty today. Dedue and Ashe will handle the cooking, Ingrid will go on sky-watch with Ferdinand from the Black Eagle house, and Dimitri and Felix will be working on weeding the grass.”
“What?” Felix complained, “Out of the eight other people in this room, why would you choose to pair me with him?.”
“Because it would bring me no end of lectures from Seteth to have you embarrass this House by falling out of the sky or burning a fish. Annette, Sylvain, please come see me,” she looked to her students, “but everyone else is dismissed and may begin. Your day ends when your task concludes.”
Students filed out of the classroom one at a time, Annette and Sylvain making their way to the front. Once the last student shut the door behind them, Byleth pulled the small paper she had been forming a plan upon out from her drawer.
“You two are going to have some very important tasks, but I’ll need you to keep this information private unless I exclusively tell you to share it.”
Sylvain scoffed, “What? Are others going to be jealous of our chores, Professor?”
“Do you remember the necklace your classmate received yesterday, Sylvain?”
“How could I forget after the commotion it caused?” he muttered.
“Well, I have reason to believe that piece of jewelry inflicted a curse upon her. The only time I know for certain we have is today, and we can’t waste a single second.”
Annette let out a noise of shock, “But Professor, why didn’t you confront her about it? Surely, if you had just taken her necklace off…”
“I couldn’t take that risk. There’s no way to know if that necklace can come off.” She glanced over her writing, “Just because I’m aware something is going on…just because I can get her alone…even then, I know so little that I can’t even be sure we have any advantage except surprise. We’re only going to get one shot at this, and we can’t give away that we know anything. Especially not to _______.”
She set the paper aside, “Annette, I’ll need you to do some research on curses and get back to me. Anything in the ranges of cursed objects, methods of cursing, and mind control should be good places to start. The sooner we know what we’re dealing with, the sooner we’ll know where to look for a solution.”
“Got it!” she exclaimed, rushing out of the room to the library.
“I’ll be joining you in just a moment!” Byleth called after her.
Sylvain leaned forward, “What about me?”
“You have a more…practical role to play…”
~~~~~~
Hours went by, Annette finally reporting her progress. The only way to break the spell was either by getting the mage to remove it herself, or by killing her altogether.
Best to prepare for the latter, Byleth thought. That woman didn’t look the type to go down without a fight. Or to play fair, for that matter.
Well then, she’d need to take away as much leverage as possible. The former mercenary seemed to recall that your natural exhaustion dampened your necklace’s control, the other night.
“Alright, listen up Annette. Here’s what I need you to do…”
~~~~~~
“Hey, Mercie!” you heard Annette call.
Currently, Mercedes was helping you brush out and dry off the last few horses. Today’s stallions were rather well-behaved, though it took no small amount of energy to care for the horses on a good day.
Things were also slowed down by the leisurely pace you two had been going at thus far, taking a break for lunch at one point and having a bit of fun with each other between tasks.
“What is it, Annie?”
The smaller girl gave a glance toward you before focusing on her friend again, “I, um…the professor wanted me to speak with you.”
“I see,” Mercedes nodded, setting her brush down. She turned back to you, “Please, just give me a moment. I’ll get right back to working with you once this is settled.”
“Take your time!” you smiled.
As the girls walked away, the voice that had been so present in your thoughts today grew louder.
What are they saying? They are keeping secrets from you.
No, you rationalized. They always did that sort of thing. The two were incredibly close far before you came along. Besides, this was something the professor needed. If it had anything to do with her more personal affairs, it was none of your business anyway.
Could it be that your professor is wary of you? Did you reveal the pendant? One can never be too certain, in these times…
The more you tried to reassure yourself, the more wary you became. Though you knew you were surrounded by those that would never hurt you, a feeling of dread had rooted itself within your mind.
A similar feeling came whenever your mind had its more…forceful thoughts…yet never was it stronger than when you dreamt last night.
With each swipe of your comb along horse hair, images would flood your mind. You, covering your pendant with a shawl. You, falling asleep early last night.
You, heading back into the woods tonight.
…back?
“I’m so sorry!” a voice snapped you out of your thoughts. It was Mercedes. Apparently, her conversation had concluded, but she remained standing next to Annette, “It seems the professor needs me to help her reassign vulneraries. You’ll be okay finishing the rest of this by yourself, won’t you?”
A reasonable excuse?
Of course it was. As the Blue Lions’ best cleric, Mercedes was always called to meet with the professor over vulnerary assignments.
…very well.
“No problem! Come back when you’re done, okay?”
Annette and Mercedes exchanged glances you didn’t quite like. Something told you she wouldn’t be coming back.
“Sure!” Annette cut in, “I’ll even help you out after I finish in the greenhouse!”
“Really? Thanks so much, Annette!”
But she must have never gotten her task done. Once the horses were locked up in their stables and the sky was painted orange, you were just as alone as when they left you.
Liars.
You didn’t want to hate them for it.
Some true friends you have. For them to abandon you after making promises like that…
They would never hurt you on purpose. Their chores were important, so it simply must have taken them longer than usual.
After a quick stop at the dining hall, you returned to your room. It had been such a long day, you were almost excited to get some rest.
Ah, ah. Not yet. You are meant to be going to the woods, remember?
Of course. How could you forget? You had only been thinking of that trip for what, a whole day?
Be not seen. Make haste.
Leaving your shawl behind, you changed into clean clothes before heading off.
The lovely glow of your favorite necklace shone down the hall as you went. Unfortunately, you needed to stifle the shine with your hand a few times to sneak off the grounds past the guards.
Why was this so familiar?
Just a little farther…
Greenery, darkness, moonlight, left.
A dark-robed woman revealed herself, “Fascinating. Tell me, do you know who I am?”
Who is she to you? Be honest.
“You-”
An arrow suddenly lodged itself in the woman’s shoulder.
“Augh-!”
HelpHelpHelpHelpHelpHelpHelp
The amulet you wore shone brighter than ever as all your instincts commanded that you protect her.
Surveying your surroundings, you spotted someone you knew holding the bow. It was your professor, and by the way she shifted her arms in the dark, she was going to nock another arrow.
Without thinking, you advanced. At least, you tried to. Your lunge was interrupted by a strong arm catching your waist, but it was clumsy and rushed. The counterweight caused both your own momentum and that of your supposed assailant to switch, bringing you both to the ground as you collided.
HelpMeHelpMeHelpMeHelpMeHelpMeHelpMeHelpMe
This mantra kept interrupting your focus until your back was against their chest. The two of you were in an awkward, semi-upright position as you struggled against the arms restraining you.
“You sure about this, Professor?” strained a man’s voice. A lock of red hair came into your field of view.
“Do it. It’s for her own good.”
Who you now knew to be Sylvain removed one of his arms’ grasp on you, reaching for something you couldn’t see. His hand returned just as quickly, though he held a small vial of herbs and pollen between his fingers.
Suddenly, you were flipped so that you were on your back on the ground and he was above you. He clamped one of his hands over your mouth, forcing you to breathe through your nose.
“Sorry about this,” he frowned as he popped the vial open and held it underneath your nostrils.
HelpMeHelpMeHelpMeHelpMe
But you couldn’t. After five quick inhales from your aggressive, breathless state, the floral mixture muddled all your senses together.
“Protect her until…” Professor Byleth’s voice faded out, though you watched her finally rush out of the bush, sword in hand, to confront the stranger.
…cold…it was so cold.
“...onastery…”
The sweetened scent haunted you.
~~~~~~
When you woke up, Manuela was with you in the infirmary.
According to the physician, you had been asleep for three days.
“Poor dear, you looked so pale. But you’re well rested now, and I think I’ve managed to flush your system of that awful pollen.”
The pollen…
“I remember that!” you sat up in a panic. “It was Professor Byleth…and Sylvain…”
“Yes,” Manuela laughed. “They filled me in once they came back with you. I swear, that boy worried himself out of an appetite the day they brought you back. He must have held the narcotic powder to your nose for too long.”
Subconsciously, your hand migrated to the lower half of your face.
“He blames himself, of course, but in all honesty I think it was more than that. Curses take a toll on your body as they are. Combine that with natural exhaustion, and that’s a nasty little recipe that’ll keep anyone out for a long time. Not that my telling him that kept him from checking in on you every few hours.”
After a few final checks, the songstress assured you that you were just fine before sending you off to the dining hall to get something to eat.
Needless to say, you couldn’t get there without talking with everyone you bumped into on the way.
Mercedes and Annette were the first to call out your name.
“Oh my goodness! I’m really sorry about lying to you,” Annette wailed. “I was really scared, but I knew the professor had a plan to keep you safe. I felt bad every second of it, though I know that’s probably not worth anything.”
You wrapped them both in a hug, “Please, don’t worry about it! I completely understand.”
“If there’s anything we can do for you, just let us know,” Mercedes offered.
“Of course.”
You smiled and waved at each other, parting ways as you continued on your trip to the dining hall.
More members of your house stopped you as you went. Dimitri wanted to apologize, promising he would attempt to prevent such occurrences in the future. Professor Byleth approached from behind him as the prince explained he was upset with himself for not noticing anything out of the ordinary.
Quickly, you assured him that no one did; you weren’t even aware you were cursed. Your teacher chimed in at that, saying she only found out by sheer luck. She threw a rare smile your way though, glad to have you back and happy to fill you in.
The necklace was given to Professor Hanneman and the woman was brought in for questioning, according to your professor. The woman had chosen to value her life over her secrets, it seemed.
“Thank you for everything,” you worried. “I don’t…that could have gone downhill way too quickly.”
“Don’t even think about it. You are my student; it is my responsibility to keep you safe.”
Her eyes slid past yours, as though she saw something behind you.
“In any case, Dimitri and I were just headed to the training grounds to spar with Felix and Dedue. Feel free to join us later, if you’re feeling better. We wouldn’t want to keep them waiting, though.”
“Oh, good luck,” you waved as they turned and left.
You heard your name from behind you.
Sylvain looked somewhat breathless, slowing up a few paces away by the time you shifted to face him.
“Sylvain,” was about as far as you got before he cut you off.
“I am so sorry,” he started. “Goddess, when we got you back…you were bruised, you were knocked out…I messed up.”
You were taken off guard. Such blunt sincerity wasn’t something you expected from him of all people.
…Manuela really wasn’t kidding when she said he was beating himself up over this.
“Hey…you saved me- you might have saved the professor too, since I know she’s who that woman was after. I have no clue what was in store for me, though I probably would have just kept living life trapped in limbo.”
“...maybe, but…” he struggled to find an argument.
“I know. Look, I-I’d rather have a few bruises than a chain binding me. You and Professor Byleth, you’re the reason I’m free. That’s more important to me than anything.”
“Right. Okay, then,” he nodded, taking a breath.
“So there. I forgive you.” You began to laugh, “Now look at us; I’m the one who’s worried. I don’t even think there’s a way I can repay you for helping me.”
“Oh, there’s no need for that,” he waved it off. “Although…you could come for a meal in the dining hall with me.”
“You’re in luck. I just happen to be on my way there right now,” you grinned. “Best not to leave a debt unsettled, right?”
He laughed, “I told you, you don’t need to think that way.”
Though the two of you went back and forth verbally, you went to the dining hall together.
And this time, the only voice telling you, this is right, was the one in your heart.
Claude x Byleth (FE3H)
This song just reminds me of them so, I need to draw them ASAP. 🙃
It's like Claude having a hard time trusting people because of his past (where people hated him and tried to kill him). Therefore, he kept his guard up.
However, when Byleth came into his life, he started to wonder if Byleth could be trusted.
Claude has a totally different route this time around but has Three Hopes changed your opinion on any of the characters?
Hm, interesting question! I don't think my opinion has changed for any of the previous characters. Mostly it's just expanded and given me more details to consider. Like the fact everyone makes fun of the way Lorenz eats
OH WAIT! How did I forget??
BYLETH
I've always disliked how they used Byleth in the first game. There was a lot of potential but because they couldn't speak or react, everything we knew about them was told, not shown. You got some feel of their reserved personality, but mostly they felt like a cardboard cutout other characters would talk at and praise to move the story forward. It's why I never understood the appeal of Byleth ships. They never got to speak or show proper reactions so I never got any sort of chemistry from them with.... anyone. The only thing I really liked was how they came off as ridiculously oblivious to their own world, but even that was more on Jeralt's parenting than anything.
In this game though, getting to see them from a third person view, getting to see them fight and speak properly, it's done wonders for how I see them. Now they're actually unnervingly stoic and quiet for being a mercenary. Now they're actually powerful on the battlefield. Heck, they're even insightful and straightforward in a way where I understand how they could get to the heart of each character. The contrast between them and Shez, who mostly sees the surface of their world, is great.
I just.... really wish they could have spoken in the first game. Just so their supports and cutscenes were more than
"What do you think, Byleth?" "......" "I've never thought of that! Genius! You're truly one of a kind!""
Want to ask this before requests are closed but could you write a Jeralt Eisner x gender neutral reader smut? I like, need some in my life
anon how does it feel to know you easily have the greatest taste out of everyone here???
You knew Jeralt's name before he ever step foot into your tavern. A mercenary known to empty out the barrels but never paying any money back for a drop. So the day he walked into your bar, you had watched him like a hawk, and when he tried to walk out without paying he was surprised when a dagger was thrown into the wall next him before he even had the chance to exit.
"I'm sure a merc such as yourself has more then enough coin to pay his tab." You weren't sure what reaction you expected from him, but you didn't expect him to chuckle at you and place a bag of coins down on the counter.
"Pretty fiery aren't ya? Don't worry a merc like myself has learned when to pick his battles and this ain't one I'd be winnin'." You honestly don't expect to see him again after catching him trying to walk out without paying. Let alone for him to drop by every time he and his group are around.
"Gonna pay your tab today Eisner?" You joke, filling up his mug before sliding it across the bar.
"Depends. Gonna throw a dagger at me?"
"Well the night is young." He laughs as you turn away from him to serve someone else.
The night goes on until it's time to close up. With only two people left, him and you. You decide to at least let him finish his drink while closing up around him before telling him he needs to leave. At least that's what you thought you were going to do.
"Come on now, have a drink with me." He invites, and you know it's probably a ploy for a free drink but you agree regardless. One turns to two and two turns to three. But then it turns into something else entirely, you can't even remember how it happens.
You vaguely recall moving from switching places from the stool beside him, to the countertop in front of him. Only for things to escalate, you spreading your legs apart so he can slip between them, him wasting no time to take the invitation. The both of you tugging away at another's clothes as much as possible, hands grazing over every and any bit of skin available.
"Jeralt." You're crying his name against his neck, arms draped around his shoulders, his hands holding yours legs either side of him. He's snapping his hips at a pace that makes you dizzy aided by his thick cock stretching you with every thrust has you leaning into him for support. You don't need to look at his face to know he's smirking, you can hear it in his voice.
"Don't tell me you're nearly out for the count already?"
"I'm fine - what about you? You're ah hips aren't gonna give out are they?" You think your retort would have been more effective if it weren't for it being split up between moans and pants, as well as the shaking of your whole body every time his dick plunges in and out of your walls. And he thinks so too.
"I think they're just fine." He rolls his hips at an angle that makes you curse and clutch onto him. A breathy laugh falls out of him at your response - a sound that it paused by his breath hitching when he is taken off guard by your walls clenching around him during his next thrust.
Claude x Male reader Sunny beach smiles”
A claude x reader oneshot since his beach design on FEH is just stunning to me.
Pronouns: He/Him
Genre: Fluff/minor angst if you squint
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You hadn't expected Lady Rhea to announce that the Golden Deer house would be free to have a free day since you all had won the battle of the Eagle and Lion.  Your professor had kindly asked Seteth if there was any good places to go, and when seteth had mentioned a beach not too far from Garrech Mach, your professor knew she couldn't pass that up.  So now here you were, sitting in the shade of a few umbrellas that were set up to shade some of the students who didn't want to be in the blistering heat. You were one of those students. You, (Name) Eisner, the younger sibling of byleth, was hiding under one of the bigger umbrellas to hide from the heat. Or so you told yourself. In all reality you were hiding from one person. Claude Von Reigan. Your house leader.
Why were you hiding from him? well, a few days before you had ended up accidentally telling Hilda and Dorothea that you had a crush on him. The two ended up spilling it to some others “accidentally” and later it spread that Claude had heard. You had gotten to know Claude over the few months that you had been at the monastery with your father and sister, and found that you could trust him and he could do the same for you. When you first met you piqued each others interest and grew from there. He had sought you out many a time when he was curious about you and throughout many battles had now found that you were trustworthy enough to hold little of his secrets. He would never be ready to share everything but you never minded, enjoying his company enough. But back to now, you were still hiding. If you weren't at the beach you would rather be shut in your room like Bernadetta, trying to forget that you existed to relieve embarrassment. But now luck was not on your side as Ignatz came to sit near you under the umbrella. “Hey (name)? you under here?” Ignatz bent down to see if you were under there. He had a concerned look on his face as he turned to look behind him before looking back to you. “sorry to bother, but our professor and Claude have been searching for you. Our professor is concerned about you and Claude wanted to talk to you.”
You sighed and told Ignatz that you would go out of hiding in a minute and he left to go over to Lysithea and Raphael. Raphael was hoisting up lysithea while walking into the ocean as she nagged at him to put her down before laughing. you smiled at the scene before turning to look to your right where Claude and your older sister were chatting before they looked over to where you were. farther beyond them was Leonie and Lorenz bickering over something while Cyril tried to break them up. You saw Hilda and Marianne sitting on the beach talking and seeming to collect seashells. Flayn seemed to be fishing with Seteth as the two waited for any new catch. You saw the Ashen wolves, who are now golden deer, chatting with each other and just enjoying being at the beach, the laughing of Constance and Balthus showing how much they were enjoying the beach.
Getting up, you slowly and anxiously made your way over to Claude and Byleth. Your sister immediately perked up when she heard you coming over, giving a small smile and pat on the shoulder which you knew as an “Glad to see you, are you ok?” you nodded at her and she nodded back, heading over to where Flayn and Seteth were.Claude turned to wave at byleth before side eyeing you. Your eyes darted to look everywhere but him, he took notice immediately and grabbed your wrist to drag you away. Byleth gave you a knowing smile and waved. You cursed how evil your sister could be. You felt the pull on your wrist as Claude dragged you away from everyone on the beach, going farther down the sandy walkway to the eastern side of the beach.
You tried to ask where he was taking you, but he gave you a look that made you stop speaking. When he finally stopped, he let go of your wrist but then intertwined your hand with his. “So...you've been avoiding me. I think I know why, but that really hurt me ya’know.” Claude gave you a small smirk, but it was one that never truly reached his eyes. You thought that he could see through you at that moment with how much his eyes glared at you. “I'm sorry It was stupid of me to avoid you-” you were stopped as Claude let out a sigh. “You avoided me for three days. Three days of me worrying if I did something wrong. Three days of me wondering if you didn't want to be near me anymore, but then I heard Hilda and Dorothea talking and I realized. But you didn't have to ignore and avoid me, you could have talked to me.” Claude gave you a hurt look. You spoke quickly, “I avoided you because I cant handle rejection and I was embarrassed that our friendship and trust would be thrown down the drain and I couldn't let that happen.” Claude looked at you then the hand that was still intertwined with his, giving a small smile. “That wasn't the way to do it you know. You could have talked to me and heard about my feelings before rushing off to hide.”  Claude gave you a smile as you gave him a shocked and confused look. He rolled his eyes with a smirk before bringing your hand to his lips. Your face flushed and he laughed, “Do you see it now? No matter what people might have said, I love you, and i'm a bit shocked you haven't seen it. But if this was the way to show you then I don't mind.” He smiled at you and turned out to the ocean. You also turned your head to see a beautiful sunset on the horizon. You turned to see Claude's eyes light up a bit as he saw the sunset. In a flare of courage you pecked him on the cheek and smiled. He turned to you a bit surprised. “You missed, love.” he gave you a look and pointed at his lips, you laughed and stared at him for a second, his Cognac skin was illuminated by the suns rays that fell on him beautifully. You gave him a second more of staring before reaching up to grab the side of his face and pulling him down to meet your lips. You both smiled into the kiss and stayed like that for a while more before departing from each other. “Thank you claude, I love you.” you said as you stared at him. You would have to scold Hilda and Dorothea later, but right now you were a happy man.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AN: I was playing fire emblem heroes while writing this and got jumpscared by claude's dialog, but I also wanted to write a beach oneshot-
pairing: m!byleth eisner x gn!reader
summary: you get kidnapped during the war and after five years, byleth returns to save you...
tags: kidnapped reader, reader is in a bad shape, implied mistreated reader, death, byleth kills edelgard (i'm sorry :/)
Tumblr media
both you and byleth vanished when the war started. yet only he returned.
the day he reunited with his former students was when he found out about the events of the last five years. how after edelgard started the war, you went missing. you, his former colleague and the one he had been interested in, yet never got to confess to.
rumor had it that edelgard was the one responsible for your disappearance. you were supposed to lure byleth to her. yet edelgard'd plan failed, since byleth went missing as well, at the same time you did.
but now that he was reunited with his students, byleth knew that he had to come save you! of course, he knew that he'd be running right into edelgard's trap. but he was also convinced that he could take her on! nothing could keep him away from you! and he still hoped he could reason with his former student…
but things didn't work out the way byleth had hoped. edelgard was set on her goal and there was no way to reason with her. perhaps, in another life, byleth could've stood by her side and fought alongside her. but not in this one. not when she went as far as putting the one he loved in danger, just to get what she wanted. byleth couldn't accept that! and so, with a heavy heart, he had to kill his former student. there was no way around her. if he wanted to see you again, she had to be gone…
when byleth finally reunited with you, you were in a bad shape. you had bruises all over your body, had lost a visible amount of weight and had dark bags under your eyes. you must've been in here for years now. perhaps you even gave up hope of being saved altogether. after so many years, who wouldn't?
"byleth…?"
you thought you were hallucinating when you saw your former colleague rattling on your cell door, trying to break it open to get inside to you. had you finally lost it now?
"it's me. you don't need to worry anymore, y/n. i'm finally here…"
his words sounded so comforting. just the thought of getting out of this cell was enough to make you tear up. you hadn't seen the sky in years. you longed to feel the grass beneath your feet again or to see the colors of sunrise once more. but more than all of that, you had longed to see him again.
finally, byleth had managed to break open the door, rushing towards you and pulling you into his arms. you hesitantly wrapped your arms around him, feeling his warmth as your bodies were pressed together.
"i've got you… i'm not letting you go again. i've got you…"
byleth quietly mumbled as he held you close. he wouldn't let anything happen to you again, that he swore to himself! nobody would ever lay a finger on you, not as long as he was around…
I'VE GOT THE STRANGEST FEELING / THIS ISN'T OUR FIRST TIME AROUND.
Tumblr media
rules . . . !
-; the obvious: don't steal/claim my work as your own/feed it into ai. don't transform it into other forms of media (such as a bound book (although my work is too short for that, thankfully), video, etc.) without my knowledge either, if not for personal use!
-; this is a sfw blog! i mainly write x readers of the fluff and angst variety, and i don't write smut because i'm not quite comfortable with writing it yet, so the most we are getting in fics is suggestive content.
-; although i am not easily triggered by many things and can handle a lot of content, if i find something in a request uncomfortable, i will let you know! there are obvious topics that i absolutely will not write for, and i will not write anything that promotes any type of bigotry.
-; the reader is meant to be gender neutral in all of my work (although they might be implied to be fem-aligned depending on the media i am writing for, such as when a fic is based off an otome game). tell me if i accidentally slip up so i can edit it asap!
-; please understand that i am currently a university student on a pretty demanding course content-wise, so answering your asks/requests might take a while!
Tumblr media
i will write for . . . !
-; TEARS OF THEMIS — vyn richter , artem wing
-; GENSHIN IMPACT — kaeya alberich , diluc ragnvindr , zhongli , tartaglia , alhaitham , wriothesley , neuvillette , ganyu
It's time for my copium
M!Byleth x reader hcs
Fulfilling my dream by kissing the cute Ashen Demon
He doesn't think his crush is obvious but to people like his students who've been around him longer, they noticed the way his eyes linger every time you walk into his vicinity. You'll instantly have all his attention before he even realizes it. to go out of his way to do things for you no matter how troubling. oh yeah his students think he has it bad
Knows almost nothing about Romance, he has no heart yet he feels something in his chest, it will be his beloved students teaching him on romance and love and setting him up for dates with his crush (much to his dismay). good thing he's a quick learner.
Once he gets the hang of it, he's a pretty bold guy; he is the type to speak his mind, which is nice because otherwise, you can never tell what he's thinking.
This guy who was killed many people in battle is actually pretty shy when it comes to physical touch. it's not that he doesn't like when you hold his hand or give him soft touches, he's just not really used to it. However, he's an eager little puppy when it comes to kisses. he likes the floaty feeling inside of him when your lips touch his. Every kiss he just wants more and more until suddenly his hands are pinning you against the wall and he's using tongue.
He doesn't talk much but he's very attentive an observant; most likely, we'll pick up any small change to you or your body. The first to notice if something is different about you.
protective, he admits he gets a little antsy when he doesn't know where you are. He wants to keep anybody who he deeply cares for in his life; he doesn't want to lose anyone else dear to him.
Likes to have you close to him while he's working, holding you, running his fingers through your hair, rubbing his thumb on the back of your hand. well he's either going over strategy looking over the war map or grading papers.
His voice is always monotone you can never tell when he's joking or not, he himself doesn't even know when something is a joke or not so it's constant confusion. but as you get closer to him it should be less and less confusing.
A great listener, he listens intently to your conversation during tea time, he loves just listening to you, your voice is lovely, and you're just so interesting to him.
Hello hello I see requests are open 👀 I loved your "only one bed" fic w Ashe so I'm here to ask for more lol
May I get a fem or gn reader tutoring Felix and Sylvain (you can just choose one if you're not feeling inspired) in magic? If I remember correctly both of them have a budding talent in reason magic so maybe the professor saw that and assigned reader to help cultivate that talent??
Idk how much detail you like in your requests so feel free to ignore the rest of this!! But if you want more specifics maybe reader has always been a little nervous around the nobles in the BL house since they're a commoner?? And even though they have every confidence in their abilities they're not very assertive so Byleth wanted reader to learn how to take charge in a situation and actually tell people what to do lol
Thank you in advance!! :D
This is one of the reasons I value requests so much. There are so many ideas you guys come up with that I want to discover!
I took these two stories in two very different directions, but I think they both stay true to the prompt in their own way. The different sways of each story are heavily influenced on how I think one would have to interact with each character to achieve the specifics we're looking for.
In this case, I was inspired to write Sylvain's story with more edges and harsh moments, though Felix's was created with a much softer arc in mind.
Enjoy! Requests are open to all. Send in as many as you wish!
The stories will be continued under the cut.
Sylvain:
“N-No! No. Please wait!”
For what must have been the third time this session, you adjusted the position of Sylvain’s hands so that his fingers were curled inwards.
“Remember? If you don’t curl your fingers in, you aren’t directing the magic properly. That could cause the fire to spread sideways rather than forward, and then you’d be putting everyone around you in danger.”
“Right,” he chuckled. “My bad.”
You were quite certain he did remember, but you didn’t say anything about it. It was a trivial matter, really. Curling his fingers yourself every once in a while was nothing compared to what you knew he could do to you if you got even slightly too pushy with him.
“That’s alright, just…try to keep it in mind as we go through the motions, okay?”
Taking a step back, you sighed and relaxed your body a bit. You were going to make sure the only thing he lit on fire would be the target across from him. Burning down the training grounds was not an appealing idea to you.
“So, different people pull their magic from different places within them, yes? For example, Mercedes feels her magic from somewhere closer to her heart, while Annette describes her pull as somewhere within her head. Personally, I feel my own resonate within my palms.”
He nodded. Good. You were getting somewhere.
“I can’t just tell you where to pull yours from, though. What I can say is that once we find your source, the rest is easy. While we could do some research or studying to make a more educated presumption, I’ve found that the fastest method is just to guess and check.”
Sylvain stretched out his arms and hands, “Sure. Walk me through it then, professor~.”
You were just about to until he returned his hands to the wrong position. Again.
No, you were not going to sigh. You were not going to show any signs of impatience, you were simply going to breathe normally, approach him calmly, and gently reposition his hands.
And as much as the little nickname irked you, you wouldn’t say anything about that, either.
What was the scale of a commoner’s displeasure at a nickname when compared to that of the power of a noble? One with a crest, no less. He didn’t need to learn magic in order to ruin your life. Or order your death.
He certainly didn’t need to know you were intimidated by him, lest he get any ideas.
“You’re pointed at the target right now. I’ve adjusted your form so that it’s perfect. The only thing left is for you to pull the magic from your body and feel it spread into your fingertips.”
“Got it,'' he winked, then turned his eyes back to the target.
There. You were almost done. The only thing that was left was for him to find the magic. After all, you were confident in your ability to show him how to use it.
“...”
“It’s fine, don’t worry!” you reassured him frantically. Goddess knows what he might do if he thought this was your fault. “It can take a bit of time, just make sure you’re focusing on tracing it to your- NO, WAIT-!”
You rushed to his side when you noticed he had wrecked his form and yet was still trying. This time, a small flame did come out of his hands. However, thanks to his uncontrolled form, it began to widen to his sides.
“Woah. Uh, what do I do now?” he asked. A sliver of panic had slipped its way into his tone.
“Just aim at the target and imagine it shooting forward. Do it quickly; it’s too late to control the fire at this point, so we need to let it go before it-”
You let out a squeak of surprise as you watched it shoot across the room to the target. The widened flame hit it, but the fire didn’t truly catch onto the target. Though you were certain it would have missed if his form was actually correct, it had become clear what the professor had meant when she mentioned he had a “budding talent” in the art.
When you were originally assigned to work on magic with Sylvain, you had voiced your concerns to Professor Byleth.
“You want me to teach? And a noble, of all people? One that you claim has talent, yet has never even accessed his magic before?”
“Good,” she smiled, “so you heard me.”
“I…please, I don’t think this is a good idea. I don’t know the first thing about teaching, or…or giving orders…or…”
“That’s why you’ll be teaching one of your classmates. It will benefit us all for you to find your backbone.”
“Well then, what about Ashe? I’ll teach Ashe, or I’ll even teach Dedue, but…it isn’t really my place to teach a noble. Besides, I have a family, and if anything happens-”
“Okay,” the mercenary laughed, “now you’re definitely not getting out of this. It looks like you can learn quite a few lessons from such an experience, after all.”
“But-”
“Sylvain will be waiting for you at the training grounds. I expect you to arrive on time. I will check on you periodically.”
Well, so much for that, you thought to yourself. You hadn’t seen so much as the color of Professor Byleth’s hair since this whole thing began.
As you finished the task you had originally approached Sylvain to complete, you began to wonder how curling his fingers of all things would be the most challenging part of this lesson. He was clearly listening to you when you spoke, so the issue must be in your directions, right? Maybe you really weren’t cut out for this whole “giving-orders” thing, even though you thought you had been doing a good job, so far.
“Hey,” Sylvain began. “Why haven’t you said anything to me?”
You paused, “What do you mean? I’ve been talking you through the process this whole time.” Honestly, now you weren't sure if he was listening. Maybe he was the spacey type.
Sylvain quirked an eyebrow, “Every time I fail to go back into position, you just stop and move my fingers manually. I must have done it at least four times by now, and most girls would have told me to knock it off at this point.”
“I don’t…” four was an understatement. But did he really not realize the reason for your hesitation? “...know what you’re talking about.”
“Yes. You do. There’s this look in your eye every time you notice it. You have a lot more patience than I do, that’s for sure. Your tone of voice stays neutral or positive, and each time you maneuver my hands, you don’t move them any rougher than you did the time before it. But even with all of those behaviors combined, you manage to give it away through your eyes.”
What.
He’s been able to notice all of those…traits…of your behavior over the past two hours you’ve been working to teach him, but he still can’t do any better than a spread flame of-?
There’s no way.
“So you’re saying you know how to use the proper positioning?”
“Pssh. Yeah, I think it’s safe to say I got it the first time.” the red-headed noble teased, “But all those extra times you spent showing me really helped-”
“Do it, then.”
His brows knit lightly, “What?”
You pointed at the target he had only technically hit during his last shot, “Get into your form. Aim at the target. And light it on fire.”
Sylvain was too stunned to speak. Instead, he did as you said, turning to face the target and firing a small fireball at the center. Sure enough, it caught fire. Right on the mark.
His smug demeanor returned, “So, how did I do? Don’t you think I should get some form of a reward for all my hard work today?”
You slowly exhale, closing your eyes and calming your heartbeat. Then, you fire your own flame spell at the target. The hay is half ember and half ash when you turn to leave.
“We’re done. I’m done.”
“Woah,” Sylvain’s eyes went wide as he stared into the remains of the fire. Quickly recovering from his shock, he turned back to you, “You oka-?”
“Two hours of my life!” you snap, spinning on your heel to face him. “Gone! Wasted!”
“Hey, now, don’t get too upset. After all, I know a few women that would be jealous of someone getting to spend that much one-on-one time with me,” his signature smirk returns, and all you can think of is how much you’d like to burn the look off his face. “Why don’t we go out and get some tea together? Would that make you feel better?”
“Two hours! And now you want even more time?”
You actually wanted to cry, now, but there was no way you were going to give him the satisfaction.
“I was supposed to spend my time with Mercedes and Annette, this afternoon! I would’ve had tea with them! Then we would’ve studied for our certification exams, and…I didn’t need this! And you certainly didn’t need this much time from me.”
Sylvain actually looked a little hurt at that, and before you could truly process everything you had just done, you heard three small raps at the entrance of the training grounds.
“That’s quite enough, you two. Sylvain, please head back to my classroom and wait for me there. We’re going to be having a little chat about training etiquette, but not before I speak with your classmate.”
His regretful expression left almost as quickly as it came when he turned to face Professor Byleth with a wink, “Right. Don’t keep me waiting, Professor!”
She glared at him, and you were immediately glad her look wasn’t directed at you.
“Don’t tempt me. Maybe I won’t show up for two hours. Whatever keeps me entertained, right?”
The Gautier noble lost his smirk as your own mouth formed a thin line to keep from smiling. You weren’t sorry for him in the slightest; especially not after he treated you like a plaything for the better part of an afternoon.
“And no detours!” she barked as he left.
You stepped forward, “Professor…I don’t-”
“I disagree.”
You blinked twice, “What?”
“With what you said earlier,” she smiled, “about not needing this. I disagree.”
The tension in your shoulders dropped in defeat, “What are you talking about, professor? I must have completed what you told me to at least an hour ago, but I wasn’t even competent enough to pick up on it. There was absolutely no reason for me to stay any longer than that, and especially not with someone as depreciative of my company as-”
But it didn’t feel like she was listening to you. Her smile was just growing, and all you could do was trail off and watch as your professor turned and headed for the door.
“You’ve grown more than you realize. You were finally able to assert yourself today.”
You shuddered a little, “I’m still worried about what I said to him.”
With her hand on the door, Professor Byleth faced you one last time, “Don’t be. Now you know as well as I do. Those nobles think they can do whatever they want, so it’s an important lesson for us to learn.” She nodded once, “It’s okay to stand up for yourself, my student. Someone needs to keep them in check.”
The doors of the grounds shut behind her with a thud.
She was right, you knew. You felt more sure of yourself, just as she had asked you to become. Not only that, but now that you knew people like Sylvain were qualified to be nobles, you weren’t as scared to talk to them.
But now you had a new fear. One day, Fodlan’s future would rest in the hands of nobles like these.
If messing around was the best they could do, they definitely had their work cut out for them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Felix:
“It’s not working.”
“Don’t worry, th-that’s alright! This is only your first day, after all. I think you’re doing well.”
Felix huffed, “Doing well isn’t going to save my life when I can’t cut through someone’s armor. Stop flattering me and actually do something to help.”
“R-right! Of course!” you stumbled. You allowed your eyes to scan Felix’s body, evaluating his form and making a mental checklist. He was able to create the magic just fine, but the Faerghus noble was completely lost when it came to firing it.
“Well, your stance is great, and you can summon the magic easily enough. B-but I don’t have enough information to properly identify a problem area-”
“Then show me again,” he ordered as Professor Byleth entered the training grounds. She was carrying a handful of spears that she must have just bought.
“That’s enough, Felix. You're the one listening, here. Let your friend do her job.”
He balked at that. “She is not my friend. Neither of us are here by choice, in case you’re having trouble recalling the context of the situation you put us in!”
Your teacher began swapping out the new lances in her arms for the broken and rusted ones discarded around the training grounds. “Well, complaining about it isn’t going to get you anywhere. Just be nice and listen, and I’m sure this will be over before you know it.”
The swordsman turned to you, clenching his teeth, “Please. Show me how you performed the spell. Again.”
“Y-Yes!”
“Ah-ah. No,” you turned to Professor Byleth as she looked you in the eyes, “You’re the professor. You’re the one giving the orders. Felix isn’t teaching you how to teach. You’re teaching him magic.”
“Ah, right,” you stood a little taller, “In that case…Felix, I’m going to demonstrate how to cast the Thunder spell once more.”
Your posture faltered at the resounding sigh from across the room. “I’m going off to the shop to repair these weapons. I expect this…dynamic…to be fixed when I return.”
As you watched your professor leave, the noble next to you cleared his throat. Back to work.
“Okay, I-I can go slow. And I’ll talk you through it!”
You got into your original stance, going over each component from your feet to your fingers. Felix reproduced your efforts methodically.
Next, you informed him of the process of garnering magic from your internal source. As the Thunder gathered in your hands, it did the same in his. It was just as bright as yours, which had always come as a surprise.
You didn’t dwell on it too long as you came to the part of the system you knew you’d spend the most time on. You tried to describe it as best you could; tracing an imaginary line between your fingers and your target before letting it go. And while yours went, the lightning magic between Felix’s hands began to grow in size and glow ever brighter.
“Tch. Not again.”
“Hold on, I’ll get it!” you reassured him, running across the room to grab one of the logs you were using as targets. Returning to him, you placed the wood in his hands as it took the brunt of the power from his spell. However, the rest of it went into you.
“Agh-! Th…that’s-” you hug your arms to your chest, attempting to cradle them against one another lightly, “that’s definitely what a Thunder spell with double the power would feel like.”
While Felix didn’t outright ask if you were alright, you felt his eyes scanning over your arms. But as long as you were the one taking the hit and not him, he couldn’t get any more upset with you, right? A commoner teaching magic to a noble. While you didn’t doubt that you could, you were not exactly confident that you should. However, it wasn’t up to you. Professor Byleth called the shots.
Shots that you needed to be giving right now, you remembered.
“Forgive me! I need to focus.”
Felix opened his mouth as if in protest, but you spoke again before he could get any sound out, “So, tell me exactly what you’re thinking when you try to fire off the spell.”
He furrowed his brow, “Just like you said. I draw that invisible line in my mind, I run my arms along it, and I think of letting go. Releasing.”
“Hmm. I think that might be our issue.”
“You think?”
“Hey, I’m not exactly the best at teaching compared to just doing, in case you couldn’t already tell.”
Only after the words were out of your mouth did you realize what you just said.
“Oh no- I’m so sorry! Look, I…I’ll figure this out for you, you’ll execute it, and then we won’t have to do this again.”
“Calm down. You’re allowed to be frustrated, too,” he scoffed. “I haven’t exactly been a model student.”
“Right…a-anyway, try going through the routine once more, but instead of thinking about releasing, think of pushing. That way you’re using both mental and physical force.”
So you watched as Felix did just that. He got into his stance, gathered the magic into his hands, pushed his arms forward, and furrowed his brow.
But the lighting grew ever brighter, the supply of logs grew ever smaller, and your arms grew ever more sore.
“W-why-” you asked, cradling your arms together once more. Tears formed in your eyes as you looked elsewhere, fighting the pain. “I don’t get it.”
“Come on!” Felix shouted at himself. With your head turned away from him, however, you had presumed your so-called “student’s” anger was directed at you.
Consequently, you flinched away from him.
From outside of your view, Felix’s eyes widened slightly. He softened his tone a bit, “Woah…Hey, are you alright?”
“Please,” you pleaded, turning to fully face him. “I’m doing my best. I just…if you could just give me a bit more time to wor-”
“I’m not mad at you, and I’m definitely not about…to hurt…you…” he began to trail off.
He was staring at your arms. Once you followed his gaze, you could see why. With a gasp, you held them straight out in front of you.
The flesh of your arms was burned.
It went in a pattern that made it look like something had lashed at you. The last log you used must not have been as effective as you had hoped it would be. Your knees dropped out in shock.
Felix burst toward you. Catching your torso, he lightly lowered you to the ground.
Dread cloaked your thoughts like a shadow as your breathing became more shallow and stuttered. You couldn’t cast healing magic over yourself. Moving your arms at all was a special kind of torture, but performance of the spell you needed couldn’t be achieved without more range of motion.
“Teach me how to heal you.”
You opened your mouth to speak, but you were still too petrified to register what he had said.
“What?”
“Look, maybe I can’t fire off lightning, but we can both clearly see from your arms that the spell worked. If you can teach me how to heal, even if I can’t send it into you, you can still make use of the spell on yourself by placing your arms where you used to put the logs.”
It sounded like a reasonable enough plan. It was the best thing you had at the moment, anyway. You didn’t think you could move about to get help in this state, and you didn’t like the idea of being left alone in the training grounds, either.
So you walked him through it. Kneeling together on the floor, you told him to change his fingers into a cupped form. He was instructed to send the power through his wrists rather than his fingertips to get it to form. Then, with his hands glowing green and hovering over your arms, you directed him to give the magic directly to your afflicted areas.
Both of you were stunned when Felix was able to send the healing magic to you on his first try. You didn’t need to move into it, it just flowed from his wrists into your arms.
Your head gave an involuntary bow as you felt the magic wash over you. It was like a light breeze on a hot day. More like a cool salve on a burn, you supposed.
“Thank you,” you breathed, head still lowered. Your breaths continued, slow and deep as you closed your eyes.
It got you thinking, though. How was it that Felix could fire his healing magic effectively, but not the Thunder spell you had both been working on? It was the same principle, though you think you conveniently forgot to instruct him on it, this time.
Your eyes opened lightly as you felt the flow of magic dissipate from your body. Felix must have stopped, then.
As you tried to lift your head back up, your vision spotted and dizziness set in. You supposed you had never truly been injured that badly before. Sure, the attacks you had taken throughout the time of one battle all added together might total quite a bit of agony, but Mercedes was always around to heal you at intervals whenever you suffered anything noticeable.
“...ngh..”
“Easy,” Felix stated, moving his hands to balance your shoulders, “you’ll get up when you’re ready. Nothing good will come from you pushing yourself right now.”
Focusing on your breathing, you put your head back down and placed your palms in front of you for balance.
“What were you thinking…" you took another deep breath, steadying yourself. "When you sent the healing spell, what was the thought permeating your mind?”
His hold on your shoulders tightened subtly, “I was just thinking that I wanted you to take it.”
“There, then,” you affirmed as your voice returned to you in full. “That’s going to be what you need to do in order to fire your spells. Your objective will be to get the recipient to take the spell from you.”
Trying to lift your head up once more, you succeeded. You let your eyes blink a few times, then turned to the noble kneeling next to you.
“So, go do it. One more try,” you nodded. “If it doesn’t work, we’ll be done.”
His lips pressed against each other, and his eyes hardened. You could tell he was less than interested.
“I promise I have learned from my mistakes. You’ve already found the solution, Felix. You performed it just now. The only thing that’s left is to use the proper spell.”
“Got it,” he stood, moving into position a few feet away from his target. Before he gets into his form, though, he looks to you.
“If it backfires-”
“It won’t.”
He clenched his teeth, “It might not, but I’m telling you that if it does, you’re not grabbing that log. I’ll find a way to take care of it myself, understood?”
You laughed, “Don’t worry, I couldn’t stand if I tried.”
“I mean it.”
“I’ll stay right here. I promise.”
That seemed to be the answer he was looking for. The swordsman turned back to the target, took his stance, and you observed as the lightning formed in his hands.
You watched him shove the spell forward, and just as you predicted, the lightning flew from his hand into the center of the target.
“Just like that!” you smiled warmly, eyes fixed on where the projectile had struck.
Right on cue, the doors to the training grounds flew open, unceremoniously announcing the return of Professor Byleth. The first thing her gaze landed on was the scorched target across from Felix.
“Wonderful jo-” as she turned to address the two of you, however, her eyes caught on your own position.
“Why are you on the floor?”
“...”
“...”
“Uh…Felix knows healing magic, now…?”
After a quick interrogation to ensure neither of you deliberately hurt one another just so he might practice his powers in faith, the mercenary escorted both of you to see Professor Manuela.
Fortunately, she didn’t spot any remaining injuries on either of you. This led your own professor to become quite pleased with your performances, and she insisted that this become a more permanent arrangement.
You were originally concerned about how much time you would have to spend teaching until Professor Byleth began a weekly rotation system between the two of you.
Though you can’t say you were ever fond of the sword, you were definitely not expecting to ever become so experienced with one in such a short period of time. Now that you and Felix could both effectively use magic and metal interchangeably, the two of you possessed extreme versatility on the battlefield.
The Blue Lions were now more than ever a force to be reckoned with, and it was safe to say that the House overall was far from displeased.

The stars were always your favorites. You valued your free time in the evening, gazing up at the twinkling lights. You’d point out constellations to yourself, smiling when the stars seemed to glow brighter in a greeting as you acknowledged them. To you, the stars felt like home.
A cold breeze rustled the trees outside of your window and you shivered, feeling the gust pass through your thin night-shirt. Your fingers were hurting slightly as you gripped onto the ledge of the window, keeping yourself steady while you sat with your legs hanging out.
The stars, the night chill, nearly everything reminded you of home. Oh, how you longed to go home.
But you couldn’t. A war was raging on around you, you couldn’t just abandon your allies- the friends you had made during your academy days. They had homes that they longed to return to, too. There would be no home if you didn’t win.
“We’ve got a long day tomorrow. You need to rest.”
You jumped, nearly falling off of the window sill before a pair of hands grabbed onto your shoulders to steady you. You turned around and sighed, seeing your old professor. The air returned to freezing your shoulders as he moved his hands, making you slightly miss his touch.
“Can’t.” You looked back at the sky.
“Can you at least get in the room? You’re scaring me like that.”
You shook your head and beckoned for him to come closer. When he did, you pointed up at a cluster of stars. “See that?”
He nodded.
“Most constellations are named after Crests. That one right there is the Constellation of Flames. Like you.” You turned to look at Byleth, but his eyes were still trained to the sky. “I don’t have a crest, but if I did, I’d be so proud to have the stars recognize my power. A legacy that I carried, etched into the sky. How... perfect.”
Byleth finally slid his eyes over to you. “A legacy?”
“Yeah. Something I’d be remembered for. At home, I was just the baker’s daughter. Nothing more.” You laughed dryly and brought your knees up to your chest, laying your head on top of them. “I came to Garreg Mach to make something of myself. To be a knight and protect the people. I think I overestimated myself.”
Byleth shook his head and let out a small laugh. He’d become a bit more expressive in his 5 year absence. You weren’t complaining. “I think we all did. If someone would have told me ten years ago what my life would become, I’d think they were crazy.”
You didn’t respond, instead choosing to look at the Constellation of Flames. You imagined a crest of your own, shining up in the sky next to it. Your heart felt heavy as you thought about it more. A crest would’ve show everyone back home what you were capable of.
All of those children, laughing at you in your youth as yet another bully had pushed you in a puddle mud and ruined your new clothes. Clothes your mother had spend months making for your birthday. You didn’t want to think of the disappointment that stained her face when you came home, your tears mixing with dried mud.
“Would you go back? To your mercenary days, I mean. Choose not to follow Dimitri and the rest to Garreg Mach and avoid being involved in all of this.” You finally spoke up.
“No.” Byleth replied without hesitation. “I’m the Goddess reincarnate. This is inevitable. I’m glad I chose this route. I’m glad I’ve made such amazing allies. People who will and already have done big things. Like you.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. “I haven’t done anything.”
“Y/N, you’ve survived a war. You’ve fought for the lives of every single person in Fodlan. That’s big.”
He paused for a moment, and then lifted his hand and laid it against your back. You had to hold back a shiver at the warmth of his skin as he started rubbing small circles against you.
“I wouldn’t change the past for another thing, as well.”
You hummed, turning and meeting his gaze.
“I wouldn’t have met you.”
You flushed suddenly, moving your hands up to cover your heated face. Byleth chuckled and gently took hold of your wrists, pulling them down as he tried to look into your avoidant eyes once more. Giving up, he kept a soft smile and leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss against your cheek.
“Let’s go to bed.”
You swung your legs back over the window and tried to ignore Byleth’s overbearing presence as he helped you in and shut the latch. You shuffled over to your bed and laid down, turning out the oil lamp on your nightstand. Byleth still stood slightly awkwardly in the middle of your dark room and you laughed, reaching a hand out.
“Would you like to join me?”
He looked at your hand before taking it and sliding under the blankets with you. Your bed immediately warmed up and you curled into his side, laying your head on his chest. It was kind of strange, not hearing the heartbeat of your lover- lover? Was he your lover now? He had to be, right?
In your contemplation, Byleth’s arm wrapped around your shoulder and held you tightly in his side as his other hand gripped onto your leg, which was draped across his waist.
“I don’t think I’d change time or go home, either.” You whispered, “Because then I’d miss out on this.”
His chest vibrated with another soft chuckle and he leaned down, this time pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. “I certainly wouldn’t want to miss this. Goodnight, Y/N.”
You yawned. “Goodnight.”
Home isn’t a place. Home is a feeling. You didn’t have to look up at the stars to feel at home, nor did you need to feel the icy winter winds through your window to remind you. You were already home, right in Byleth’s arms.

future child. (byleths x reader)
other fics in this series! alfonse // sharena \ fjorm & gunnthra // loki \ michalis // shigure \ zelgius // chrom \ ike // hrid \ ninian // soren
female byleth is named “beleth” in this fic as to not confuse the two !! its just another name for the demon byleth is named after so :O !!!
Wide-eyed, blinking slowly, Quinn looks around the wide expanse of the noisy corridors of the Askran palace. It was much different than Quinn remembered, though the castle he was from was much more dour and run-down. The sparkling energy resonating off the walls was also new, heroes discussing happily amongst themselves, challenging others to a sparring match, or napping lazily in the sun filtering in through the grandiose windows.
Had he not been on a mission, Quinn would’ve joined the sleeping manaketes, tucking himself under a wing and curling up for hours on end.
Peeking around the corner, he manages to spot a hero he knew vaguely. It was Annette, much younger than he remembered her, but still humming loudly just as he remembered she always did -- even on the darkest of days. Deep within him, he feels the urge to smile, but it doesn’t register on his features.
‘What are you grinning about?,’ He hears Sothis’s voice in his head. Quinn steps out of the way as the ginger skips past him, seemingly on her way across the castle. ‘Annette is still the same, it seems’. Quinn nods, still scanning down the hallway for either one of his parents. He hadn’t seen them in so long, for a moment he wonders if they’d still be the same as he remembers them, like Annette was.
“Why are you standing there for?” Quinn turns slowly upon hearing the voice, Sothis seeming to be spooked as she jumps from her intangible form behind him. “Looking for someone?”
“It’s you.” Quinn whispers, wide eyes growing wider.
“It’s… me?” You put a finger to your chin. “You know me? I don’t think I’ve seen you before…”. The blank expression reminds you a lot of Byleth, but surely that was a coincidence? You had summoned younger versions of heroes before, so that was possible an explanation. Though, you don’t know how the child Byleth would know you.
But Byleth had always been an enigma -- so you wouldn’t be surprised.
“You’re my parent,” he blinks, quickly grabbing your hand. “We should go find papa”.
Had he not referred to his father as ‘papa’ he would’ve almost reminded you of an adult. It contrasted heavily with his appearance, you would bet he couldn’t be much older than six.
“Summoner,” speak of the devil, but not the right one. “We must talk.” Beleth smiles sweetly at you, her hand holding onto a child that looked eerily similar to one you were holding onto. The only difference was her hair was a bit longer and tied up in pigtails, everything else -- height, build, facial expression -- was much the same. It makes your heart drop, was this your kid as well?
“I’m Quinn,” the little girl mumbles, kicking nervously at the floor. “And y-you’re my... other parent! I’ve been looking for you for so long...”
“But I’m Quinn?” The Quinn holding onto you tightens his grip. He wants to pout, but the being napping deity inside of him is sparse to let him -- forcing an emotion to the surface was nearly impossible for him. “Are we…?”
“The same?” Beleth’s Quinn finishes his sentence, it's then you realize just how similar their voices sound.
“Summoner, who are these people?” Byleth shows himself, a puzzled look on his face as he crosses the stone, boots clicking with every step. The twins both turn to look at him, almost as if in unison. Had the situation not been so strange, you might have made a joke about them sharing the same brain cell.
Quinn pulls himself out of your hand and runs over to Byleth, looking up at him with a hand up, motioning for him to grab it. Byleth holds his hand without a second thought.
“Well, it looks like we have a lot of… talking to do.” You laugh out nervously, eyes darting between the four of them. None of them look angry, just mostly confused. Why did all the strange things happen to you?
‘Yeah, no kidding,’ Sothis yawns from behind, waking up from her nap to take everything in.
                                                -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
“So… you’re saying that I’m both of your parents?” You look from Quinn to Quinn, the two of them nodding in unison. You pinch the bridge of your nose, feeling a headache coming on. As much as you loved Byleth and Beleth, the thought of being a parent so early was a horrifying thought; especially out of the blue.
“This is a lot to take in.” Beleth whispers, nervously fiddling with the hilt of her sword.
“Yes, yes it is.” Byleth sighs, arms crossed in thought. “I never expected to have children so early. We aren’t even wed yet.” Yet, the implication makes a flush grow on your cheeks.
“But having both of your children?” you bury your face in your hands, you hoped they wouldn’t think you would cheat on them. Sure, you were flirty with the both of them, but you weren’t exactly dating either of them. Courting in Askr was much different than it was where you came from, people seemed to get married here much more quickly.
“I mean we are the same person,” Beleth leans back against the desk in your room, arm resting on the edge of it. “Same soul and all, just a different universe. Like how there’s another version of me here, with Lady Rhea. Who’s dating Lady Rhea.” Beleth shakes her head as if it was ridiculous to even think of it. Of course it would be preposterous for her to think; considering she comes from the timeline where she took sides with Edelgard, effectively making herself the number one heretic in all of Fodlan.
Byleth smiles, a rare gesture you don’t have the pleasure of seeing often. “I fear to see who the other versions of me ended up with as well.”
Beleth scowls, “don’t worry about them. It seems we ended up with a good person, our summoner.” You flush scarlet under the both of their loving gazes -- so much different from the emotionless duo you remember first summoning. It seems merging with Sothis and being around heroes opened them up emotionally more than you would’ve ever thought possible.
The Quinns sit side-by-side on the floor, looking between all of you as you talk; not grasping everything said but listening intently as if they do.
“S-so you’re both okay with this?” You say, “okay with... me being with the both of you? B-because I wouldn’t mind. I do... well, I think it would be best to talk it through later tonight.”
“Yes, that would be for the best,” Beleth replies, “I think I know what you’re going to say, and I feel the same way if so.”
‘Hm, your parents are most peculiar,’ Sothis floats around the two, ‘definitely different than when I was with them’.
“Miss Sothis says that you both are weird.” Quinn pipes up, tucking a stray bang behind her ear. The room gets so quiet you can hear a pin drop, before three voices yell in unison:
“Miss Sothis says what?!”
