the goal was to have the vaults & relics protected by warriors (at least ones in training) at all times, yet some people didn't get the memo and are closely surrounded by entire cities on top of that.

What I WILL tell you is that I’m kind of going by what I laid out for the modern Darlingtons in this post. The timing isn’t quite right (since everyone has grown since I first wrote that and the timeline/ages need to be shifted accordingly) but it still gives you an idea of what everyone may be doing and where they are in this universe.

and i am ... not selfish with my supplies but i am unemployed and living off a very tight budget (cannot purchase any more yarn for projects unless i manage to do some pretty spectacular savings on my groceries for the month which is... not very doable) so I'm a tad worried she's going to be good at crocheting and want to Make Something with the yarn that i do have fjdskl and I would normally be totally fine with that but considering there's basically nowhere in town to buy yarn (i've had to buy online) and shipping is $20+ lately, that's not exactly a great thing for me right now 🧍‍♂️

thinking about Henry seeing death as the only way to escape from the lab because of soteria and how he talks about how even if he escaped, brenner would track him down.

Me when in s5 we get the Henry suicide attempt flashback where he tries to kill himself (likely with with his powers which is what results in him getting soteria) and it explains why he’s targeting suicidal people and acts like he’s “saving” them by supposedly giving them what they want and when we learn that he wanted to escape/kill himself but brenner didn’t let him which would be a DIRECT parallel to Victor trying to kill himself in the prison and “join” his family (Henry talking about his suicidal victims ‘joining’ him) but Hatch stopping him (victor talks about how hatch dropped the bleeding and didn’t let him join his family/die).

He refers to the lab as a prison and himself as a prisoner during that same conversation about how he can’t escape because of his soteria- which backs up the idea of a victor parallel even MORE because Victor was literally in prison.

DB Tony- while SIM you indicated that while you’d wanted Peter romantically/sexually you had no intention of ever taking that step and had resigned yourself to the knowledge that Peter would end up in another’s arms. Knowing how far your obsession went, had you never accidentally assaulted Peter, do you really think you would’ve let Peter be with anyone else while still under extremis? Or do you think he (you? It’s hard to decide how to refer to your past self) would’ve found a way to justify taking things in that direction with Peter so that he could keep Peter to himself?

I don't know what he would've done; he was a fucking scumbag. I don't think he ever would've thought anyone was actually good enough for Peter even if he never… It would've been bad. Peter really… he saved both of us.

i feel like i had a revelation last night like i really had an "i connected the two dots" moment bc i was watching these video essays about the history of nct and exo respectively and there were two things in particular i thought were interesting

the op pointed out some of the similarities between exo-m and wayv, in the sense that they're both units sm tried to market in china that didn't really succeed in breaking into the chinese market the way they were intended to due to a lack of understanding of the chinese idol market

the fact that nct was originally supposed to have a graduation system that mirrored those seen in jpop with like akb48, and that this plan also fell through

the op also kind of talked about this but it's clear that sm's goals with these things were to a) introduce a graduation system into the kpop industry and b) expand their influence in china (and japan and other countries with the idea of nct tokyo, hollywood, etc. which obviously have not come to fruition)

the reason i found these things interesting is bc there are direct parallels of these goals with pledis groups. after school famously also had a graduation system, which, unlike nct, they did actually use, though it also wasn't successful and the group didn't continue in the long term. and there was also nu'est-m targeted toward promoting in china, which also fell through. you can also see these goals in some of the early plans for "seventeen" which at one point was intended to have 17 set members split into 3 subunits to promote in korea, china, and japan respectively

and for anyone who doesn't know, han sung soo, the ceo and founder of pledis, literally got his start in the idol industry by working for sm and was even a manager for boa before he founded pledis, so i doubt all of this is a coincidence. he probably picked up the ideas sm was aiming for and tried to mirror them in his own company. idk there's no big takeaway here i just think it's really interesting that you can see the influence of sm and it's goals on early pledis groups and their goals

me, frequently: i think i am somehow secretly a terrible evil person who needs to isolate themself so nobody gets hurt somehow by the rot that is hidden away at the core of my being

also me, while arachnophobic: i have to catch the spiders that get inside so I can release them outside bc it shouldn't be up to me whether i take a life or not, every life has inherent value and beauty simply by existing, and i have to put them into separate containers while I wait to transport them outside because I don't know if spiders would fight or cannibalize each other when kept in close quarters, and I'll make sure I dont have them in eyeline of each other and also make sure a couple sides of the container are covered by something so they feel safe and don't get too stressed out
