low key i think to deny Riko's trauma is to deny his narrative importance in the story.
like Riko's trauma related to his father parallels neil's. His concept of brotherhood adds complexity to Andrew and Aaron's relationship. He acts not just as an antagonist but as a foil to other character's relationship to trauma and violence.
to solely view riko through the lense of his actions is to miss the point. He is a character in a story, not a real breathing human being.
On the left, a Gargoyle! It kinda looks like we caught it rummaging through the fridge at night, but nothing wrong with a bit of attitude. Granted they tend to have a LOT of attitude and can be sadistic, but that's not necessarily a downside.
On the right is a Revenant. A wrongfully killed person, rising again and again to hunt down thier killers. Unable to think of anything but revenge, they would likely only smash you to further their goals. But hey, I KNOW that's fun for some!
Today on Very Serious Spy Scenarios, imagine Illya and Napoleon at the beginning of their partnership, with Napoleon happily pushing all of Illya's buttons every five seconds to try and see what will get him punched and what not. Illya is endlessly frustrated with him, especially because he CANNOT get a rise out of him, no matter how hard he tries.
And then one day, when they are arguing, again, Illya is getting desperate to Win This and so this conversation ensues:
Illya: "What's your problem, your parents never hugged you as a child?"
Napoleon, completely unfazed: "Actually no, my father barely spoke to me and my mother lowkey disliked me, so."
I think that Reigen getting so far into an online competition and having the momentum to win but losing last second is so on brand for Mob Psycho. ONE basically wrote this in season 2 (volume 9) when Reigen got famous online, thinking he was heading straight to the top when someone who he thought was going to let him continue easily just absolutely demolished him. And then the rest of the internet turned him into a meme.
Him going back a second time with the hopes of being famous enough by memes to actually succeed and failing worse is even more accurate. If someone told me this was all in an omake I would believe them. ONE would never let Reigen win anything at any point in his life.
SCREMS my snautsticic child
he is trying ok!!!!!! one tiny snake human hybrid built from the cave-ground-up, , attempting to learn all the implicit rules of humanness?! as if it isn't already tough enough out here!!!!
liam’s anu-kite induced hallucination in triggers being a flashback to when he was a scared fourteen year old boy who couldn’t protect himself against a group of people who were supposed to be on his team rather than one about theo, the guy who once tried and almost got liam to kill one of the most important people in his life while shifted and was planning on killing him next even though becoming a monster that hurts people is one of liam’s greatest fears. theo actually being the one who pulls liam out of his head and keeps him from killing someone and talks to him about why he gets so angry when he’s really feeling afraid. layers. guys there are layers.
Conflicted on Jee holding Zuko back because on one hand I know Zuko would be in a lot more trouble if he killed him, but on the other hand it would’ve been funny if he bashed his head in like a watermelon
Also Iroh is getting some deep confirmations on his zukka suspicions. We love to see it
(Also also Bato x Jee? In a fantastic long fic? It’s more likely than you think)
Nothing would bring me more joy than to let Zuko smash that guys head in watermelon style…
but I do think for mental health reasons & political reasons it’s good that was not allowed to happen. We know from canon zukos got some serious leg power… & yeah…. Good job Jee sorry about your nose.
