Artist note: I’m so proud of this :))) I know it’s a lot of dialogue and reading, but dialogue is grueling work for me. I’m glad with the art and for the amount of pages I made in such a relatively short time span -w- page 5 was super fun to work on. The importance given to beauty is weird. It is almost like women need to be pretty. If someone does not have conventionally attractive features, people will still be like, 'oh she is beautiful in her own way' which means no matter what a woman needs to be beautiful. This level of importance is not given to intelligence, education, smartness or creativity. Nobody says 'oh don't believe what others are saying, I know you are creative." It would be wonderful if people actually made these characteristics mandatory but instead all a woman needs to be is pretty. There is no harm in that but it's just that it is a very superficial yardstick of measuring a person's worth.

isn't just Jamie's reaction to Zava's arrival in general but his direct reaction to Roy and Zava sharing a respectful nod.

Um, I've been Roy's nemesis forever and ever and I'm the prick and the star on this team and I've cried on his shoulder while he held me so so tight and I was there to (try to) pick up the pieces when this idiot dumped his amazing and gorgerous and fantastic girlfriend and I was all he could think of when he was first getting together with her and I've had his poster on my wall since I was a kid and he's called me a pretty boy and an ugly boy and he thinks my right foot was kissed by god but this guy gets a nod?
i mean, Jamie would never have never have been Zava's number one fan (Dani was right there, after all) but after this? It's on sight, bruv.

Code Lyoko is one of those shows where you step away for a bit, it comes back to you, and you think “it wasn’t actually that intense. I’m just misremembering, how I felt when I last saw it as a kid that’s all.”
Then you watch it.
And no, no actually, I remembered correctly. They almost drove into a nuclear power plant, a military laser as pointed at them, they team up with the big bad to rob the government, the man characters have a near death experience every day, it’s very much implied that deaths on Lyoko is very similar to the real thing, literal men in black came after Aelita’s family, William lost months of his life, Jeremy was torturing himself to keep his friends safe on the other side of the screen, Odd almost drowned, Yumi and Ulrich were nearly boiled alive.
Also, you remember how hard the intro goes.
