#but to me deans gun is more about the manifestation of who dean could potentially be vs who he actually needs to be to survive

soo every time i think about dean's gun i go a little bit insane. Dean Winchester, The Stereotypical Macho Man Dean Winchester, the Bad Boy Dean Winchester, all cool and sexy with his leather jacket and his action hero persona and arrogant attitude, owns a gun with a mother of pearl handle and intricate floral engravings.
on the outside he's tough, he's a soldier, he doesn't care about anything at all, and yet he carries the prettiest and most delicate looking weapon. the symbolysm of it all. a blunt little instrument allowed to be beautiful.
dean's gun is dean. it's like the synthesis of his character, the point where nature and nurture meet and coexist. born to be soft and gentle, raised to be hard and deadly

now that I've accepted that I am forever unclean and that Analyzing the CW’s Hit TV Show Supernatural Specifically Dean Winchester is the regular hell loop that is my brain -
I Have Some Words to Say About Miracle (the dog):
Tumblr media
Yes, this motherfucker.
(this episode contains SPOILERS from Season 15 of Supernatural including 15x09, 15x18, 15x19; TRIGGER WARNING - abuse, trauma, self harm, and spn 15x20 analysis).
I know we as a collective were confused (and angered) when instead of getting his One True Love at the end of the series, Dean Winchester got....a dog.  No offense Miracle, because you are cute and fluffy and I’d keep you forever
Tumblr media
YES FOREVER YOU ARE SO FLUFFY COME HOME TO ME NOW
but
Dean Winchester does not like dogs.
Some have theorized it’s because he was killed by hellhounds at the end of Season 3, which is enough to give you a little canine PTSD:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even explaining the following behavior in Yellow Fever:
Tumblr media
He was also killed by this dog at one point in Mystery Spot:
Tumblr media
It’s canon he has a strong aversion to dogs in the Impala:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I would like to know more about Don)
There’s also probably lingering/repressed anger around that whole Sam never looked for him while he was in Purgatory situation:
Tumblr media
There is, however, ONE prior episode in which Dean doesn’t hate dogs.
Tumblr media
In Dog Dean Afternoon, when, as a side effect of a spell, he takes on the characteristics OF a dog.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(don’t let anyone tell you Jensen Ackles doesn’t have range, by the way).
SO MY THEORY ON “WHY MIRACLE” BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED IS:
As essentially everything, it all goes back to John Dumpster Fire Winchester, Father of the Year.
Tumblr media
If you’re a John Winchester apologist, you should just stop reading now.  Also just don’t.  There is NO REASON TO DEFEND THIS MAN.
We know John was abusive.  Just one example of what  he put Dean through when he was NINE that he STILL remembers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I could go on, but you get the picture. Why people were so thrilled when he came back for Lebanon keeps me up at night (nothing against the wildly talented Jeffrey Dean Morgan; he is fantastic, but John Winchester is trash).
Dean’s childhood abuse is part of the reason he is convinced he is unworthy of anyone and anything.  It’s the first thing Cas notices about him.
Tumblr media
Sam knows it too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Crowley:
Tumblr media
Abuse is generational.  Dean has shown he has potential to continue the cycle.
With Sam:
Tumblr media
(not mentioned, lying, controlling Sam’s choices, the angel possession thing)
With Ben when he lives with Lisa:
He snaps at him about taking a gun from the Impala’s trunk at the beginning of Season 6, and then in Live Free or Twihard he physically pushes him against a wall (granted he’s a vampire at the time, but still - not an excuse).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Jack:
Tumblr media
At the outset of their relationship, Dean treats Jack the way John treated Sam.  He initially blames him for Cas’s death just like John blamed Sam for Mary’s (remember when John not only forced Dean to fucking single-parent Sam but later told Dean he may have to kill him seriously I could strangle this man).
Dean is terrified of turning into his father and perpetuating the cycle.  Remember the lyrical genius of Single Man Tear in Fan Fiction?
“But underneath this broken mask It is my father, with all his wrath”
That’s why he pushes away the people who love him the most.  He deeply believes he will inevitably hurt them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He doesn’t even allow himself to begin a relationship with Jack at first.  The Jack/Dean arc is wildly important in all of this not only for representing Dean’s fear in perpetuating the cycle, but also because Jack/Dean is a narrative mirror for Dean/John.
Tumblr media
Remember what Jack was doing before this? (TW: self harm)
Tumblr media
Think about that in terms of Jack representing Dean.  Sit with it for a second.   Oof.
I posit to you this is also why Dean becomes so aggressive in using Jack to stop Chuck in Season 15.   Remember Dean consistently refers to the hamster wheel (a literal CYCLE) throughout this season.  This ties directly into Dean’s fear that he can’t control his life; that he is destined to become just like John - abusive and cruel. Team Free Will for Dean has always represented the glimmer of hope that this will not be his ending.
15x05:
Tumblr media
The gun is gone, but it turns out Jack can be the weapon that ends God.  Think back to someone else who was fighting a Big Bad in Supernatural, and was so obsessed with finding the weapon to end him that he sacrificed everything, including his family for it.  Dean is acting exactly like John Winchester.  He’s perpetuating the cycle.  And that’s also part of the reason he shoves Cas away - because he believes this is inevitable, this is who he was always going to become.
That’s why the purgatory prayer is BRILLIANT and important:
Tumblr media
Dean is finally talking about his anger; his fear of the cycle. How his first response to stress and conflict is anger, just like John’s. He is acknowledging and accepting that this is in him, and sharing it with Cas.
WOOF ok so back to dogs.  You forgot this post is about dogs right?  So, we all know dogs give us unconditional love.  The best and truest kind.
Abusers also tend to abuse animals.  Dean’s aversion to dogs is a manifestation of the cycle of abuse. He believes if he gets a dog, he will inevitably abuse and torment it, because he believes that is who he is.  So he just acts like he doesn’t like them.
Until this happens:
Tumblr media
And the very next episode, we meet Miracle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tell me this isn’t a man who has ALWAYS LOVED DOGS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And BTW he has no issues having Miracle ride in the Impala.  Because that wasn’t ever the real problem to begin with.
Cas’s words of love helped Dean break the cycle.
Reinforced in the finale (derogatory):
When Chuck says -
Tumblr media
Dean responds with that’s not who I am.
And that’s the reason for Miracle.  Dean’s Team Free Will ending is breaking the toxic loop, and accepting love without fear that he will destroy it.  It’s acknowledging that while the history of abuse exists, it does not have to control or define him.  He chooses a different path.  He chooses to be defined by love.
Tumblr media
But he was still robbed of actually living his life with the people who got him here.  I will never stop screaming that he deserved better.  If you are fighting against this cycle, please know that you too deserve better.
Tumblr media
Oh and John Winchester 10000000000 percent belongs in hell.
Which is why the Sexy Silence continues.

why you can't compare buddie to destiel (from someone who ships both)
this is kind of addressing the recent negativity in the buddie tag, but it's also a collection of my thoughts and reasoning for being buddie-positive despite my experiences with destiel and spn in general. the text of 911 is not really discussed at all, and this is relatively spoiler-free, so if you're thinking of watching 911 I encourage you to read it. if you haven't seen both shows it probably won't make perfect sense, but I wrote this with spn fans who haven't seen 911 in mind, since that's most of my followers (and also seems to be where much of the negativity was coming from) pretty long post under the cut to save your dash
I just want to prepare y'all for the fact that buddie could be the slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance we've been waiting for practically forever.
at this point it's not fair to call it queerbait because where their relationship is now fits the characters and their development. this is not like destiel, where there were many moments over the years that could've ended with them getting together and it would've made sense with the story. buddie right now is in this sweet, wholesome pre-relationship kind of place, which on its own is a compelling dynamic and so fun and good to see. a resolution of it right now would feel out of character—they both still have some development to do before that would feel natural. and so, I don't think we can really call it queerbaiting unless the characters get to that point and there is still no resolution.
also I'd like to point out the overall positivity from the cast when it comes to buddie. both Eddie's and Buck's actors have said (I'm paraphrasing cast statements in this post unless they are in quotations) positive things about the pairing, and Buck's actor has said that he likes the interpretation of Buck as queer, and he would be happy if the writers took his character in that direction. also Eddie's actor with "that's what they all say" when buddie was referred to as a "bromance". Jennifer Love Hewitt, who plays Buck's sister (another main character), is very supportive of buddie, saying she's "rooting for it", that it would be "amazing", she doesn't "see how it couldn't happen one day". this was in response to hearing that a fan insists Buck and Eddie will be a couple. She flat-out said "I think so, too." She jokes about buddie with Buck's and Eddie's actors all the time. Also, my favorite bit from the video of her saying all this, "Let's manifest it together!"
It's safe to say this is a VERY different environment to spn. I don't think I've ever seen a cast this positive about a show's main non-canon queer ship before. NEVER. I think it's safe to say that if/when buddie is canonized, the cast will be just as excited as the fans—at least JLH will be! Add into the fact that the show's PR seems to be leaning into bi buck and buddie right now, it's a VERY different vibe than spn had, definitely. There's no gaslighting of the fans here, at least not that I've seen. also, although 911 has a large casual viewership, I think it's safe to say the GA would not be upset by buddie—there are only 3 serious, long-term romantic relationships involving main characters in this show, and one of them is a lesbian marriage with two children. And yes, the characters are shown being lesbians, it's not just a stated fact; the audience is privy to their relationship (and their interactions with their adorable kids). I think it's safe to say that buddie would go over well with the fans, even the casual viewers (of which there are many). buddie doesn't seem to be a huge divider in fandom like destiel is, either. reactions generally seem to be either "I ship it" or "I don't care either way."
Also I'd like to point out that while yes, it's possible that buddie is only bait (which would be disappointing), there's a reason queerbaiting works. people WANT to be queerbaited, because it's nearly indistinguishable from a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance. queerbaiting allows fans to make theories, create fan content (including fic), and keeps them engaged with the dynamic and the show. fans who are vulnerable to queerbaiting want a slow burn will they/won't they queer romance, which is currently an almost completely untapped market. spn could've tapped it, but despite the huge fandom they did not. there are SO MANY people outside of spn fandom who want a slow burn mlm romance, one that keeps the audience guessing, one that's will they/won't they, one that is not guaranteed, and that is why queerbaiting works so well. the audience doesn't just want the payoff, they also want the build-up. the longer the build-up, the higher the payoff, and the suspense of the build-up is gone if you know from the start that the payoff is definitely coming. that's part of why malec from shadowhunters didn't fully tap this market—there was no question of if, only the question of when (which wasn't really a question either, given there was an episode in season 1 literally titled "malec" when they got together.) the characters were always queer, the show being an adaptation of a book series where they were in a relationship and eventually had children together.
this was why November 5th was such a big deal—fans were so far past the will they/won't they aspect of destiel, firmly believing that destiel would always end as a "won't they" and not a "will they" that when cas confessed his romantic love for dean, destiel trended on Twitter over the US election. you all know that story, but maybe not everyone reading this knows that after Nov. 5 there was a case of hundreds if not thousands of spn fans experiencing love sickness because of the confession scene. the payoff of making destiel fully canon (and reciprocated, in English) would've been huge. fans would've been throwing their money at the c/w.
which leads me to the possibility (this is not at all me saying that I think this happened or even is likely, just that it's one possibility that /could/ have happened) that buddie started as bait, that the writers never intended for them to be a couple, but saw fan reactions to buddie during season 2 and started to lean into it in season 3 (and 4 so far, but it just started so I don't want to make any generalized statements about it) possibly still as bait or maybe not deciding yet if they'll go anywhere with it. and then maybe they saw destiel trending on November 5th, realized just how BIG the market for a slow burn will they/won't they mlm romance is, and said "hey, we already have the foundations for one of those. why not go for it and draw in all those viewers who clearly want one so badly?"
if buddie goes canon, because the cast and PR have been so positive about it, unlike spn, and because of the text of the show itself, the show's creatives could VERY EASILY claim that they were never baiting, that it was all an intentional slow burn will they/won't they romance from the beginning, and most people would believe them; there isn't really any evidence to the contrary, although I am sure there would be at least a few fans convinced it started as queerbaiting, and there might not be any evidence to refute that, either.
the point is that 911 is currently sitting on a gold mine. if they play their cards right, and execute buddie well, they will monopolize this market that old straight white men serving as network executives have failed so far to really tap into. they queerbait without the payoff, which gives the show a reputation among those in the market who haven't seen it, guaranteeing they will never watch it. shows in this vein: sherlock (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like) and spn (huge reputation for queerbaiting and a finale fans didn't like). spn got so, so close with cas's confession but then continued to gaslight its fans, and PR did not lean into destiel AT ALL. if 911 did buddie? the PR team would be all over it. it would be a moneymaker, big time, and Fox knows it. if buddie, or even just bi buck, went canon, tumblr would be all over it. viewership for the show, which is already impressive, would skyrocket. 911 would monopolize this market, because fans wary of queerbaiting would watch it with the knowledge that the payoff is there, and there really wouldn't be a competitor until other shows saw the success of buddie and followed suit with their own pairings, and given the fact that the market specifically wants /slow burn/ queer romances, that might take a couple years. that puts 911 in a really good position, where suddenly the fandom of the show, not just the GA, is very large and likely very dedicated to the show. the success of canon buddie might just change the landscape of TV in the coming years, showing execs that while queerbaiting does work, actually going through with it is really where the money is. 911 would not just monopolize the market for a while; it would pioneer it.
if buddie never goes canon, I would probably be a bit disappointed at the wasted potential, but unless the characters get to that point where canon buddie seems like the most logical outcome and they /don't/ go for it, I won't be truly upset because I don't think it's fair to claim its queerbaiting until then. I can't tell you how likely it is that buddie will be canon at some point, but it seems FAR more likely than destiel /ever/ did, and we ended up getting cas's confession in the end. I have hope, despite being hurt so badly by spn. 911 is a genuinely great show with some fantastic writing, and they don't leave chekov's gun unfired, unlike spn.
really, it comes down to this: if Jennifer Love Hewitt is allowed to clown for buddie, then so am I, and I'll enjoy this show—which is amazing even without canon buddie—while I apply my clown makeup.

Past-Present-Future Black Dahlia
Two major tragedies bring Lee Mirae closer to the edge as she goes through the stages of grief in a more violent manner that would affect not only her relationships with her boyfriend Jeong Yunho and her half-brother Choi San, but also has her becoming closer with the immortal mutant Kang Yeosang. Fueled by rage, grief, and pain, along with a very rude awakening that has Mirae spiraling out of control and questioning everything she holds dear.
Group: ATEEZ Member: Yunho Pairing: Jeong Yunho / OC Genre: Action, adventure, angst, fantasy
Watch Out! : Violence, blood, death, grief and loss, major character deaths, use of weapons, some jealousy (but no cheating ofc), implied smut (not sure if there is any but i’m putting it out there nonetheless), mental illness (probably?), gambling and alcohol
Anything else? : Mentions of other idols of course as well as other characters. SuperM, Dean, Chanyeol, Zelo, soloist Park Jihoon to name a few.
Author’s Note: First chapter is here! Compared to the previous stories from the AU, this might have very long chapters, like more than 10 pages in google docs long. But anyway, tag list is open, and yeah. Enjoy the first of a rollercoaster of emotions.
This whole first chapter also, is me giving brief backstories of what happened before/backstories of many characters here. Basic plot is mine, characters are not. This is all for fun/entertainment/emotional anguish.

Chapter 1
When one is at their breaking point, everything begins to change.  The lines between right and wrong are blurred, and one’s moral compass begins to spin into oblivion.
9:00 p.m.
Laughter filled the almost empty space of Viva Polo, having closed for the night except for a table occupied by Lee Mirae, Park Chanyeol, and Kwon Hyuk. The rest of the tables had already been overturned, marking the end of another day at work, at least for Chanyeol. The three of them had a tradition of meeting up every week, something they started doing after the previous adventures they had.
The three of them were mutants, and to their knowledge, they were the last surviving members of the group that saved the country, if not the world during the Seoul attack. A year after that, the three of them found each other again, reuniting to save the country once again from an evil cult bent on achieving utopia through taking control of its citizens. Two adventures that had major consequences on the three of them, and events that they will forever remember.
Two of them, Mirae and Hyuk, were classified as omega-level or level 5 mutants, with powers that were impossible to surpass by any other mutant thus far. Mirae was not only gifted in a mastery of hand-to-hand combat, both armed and unarmed, but she had the gift of manipulating potential energy into kinetic energy. She could turn virtually any object into an explosive and if channeled to an extreme extent, was able to level a skyscraper.
With her abilities came the secondary gift of a healing factor that made her almost immortal and slowed down her aging immensely. Because of her ability to manipulate energy, she was also able to generate static that resulted in a very strong psychic block that was only made stronger by another omega-level mutant, Jang Ino. From the adventures she had on her own and even after the Utopian cult, another ability manifested itself in her; taking souls and trapping them into objects, usually her deck of cards.
Meanwhile, Kwon Hyuk, a well-known music producer and songwriter, was a level 5 telekinetic and could move anything with his mind. His psychic abilities also gave him the gift of producing shields that were almost impenetrable.
In their adventure into the Utopian cult, Hyuk developed his telepathic abilities, which he used to extract memories or read into memories of others. Hyuk was nearly captured by the goons from the Utopian cult when they met again, and has since tried to use his powers as discreetly as possible with some difficulty.
Hyuk didn’t formally join Mirae and Chanyeol until the later days of the Seoul attack, having laid low, undiscovered by Ino who was at the time, serving his father Professor Inhwan Jang. Hyuk had openly used his powers in front of the group during a time when Mirae and one of her other colleagues, a telekinetic named Luhan, were affected by the goblin king’s inducement of traumatic memories that caused their powers to manifest for the first time.
It was there that Hyuk realized that he could do so much more with his mutant gifts, rather than use them solely for trivial purposes.
Hyuk had a cousin, the singer Lee Midam, who was under his entertainment agency, in the 10-member group called Silver. Midam was, like him, a psychic, but of a different kind. Midam was a psychic that could make the worst fears or strongest desires of another person come to life before them. Midam also had the ability to sense when a person will die in the near future.
Park Chanyeol was a level 4 pyrokinetic, also known as an alpha-level mutant. He created and manipulated fire in all its aspects, from turning into a fire being to being able to put out and set fire onto virtually anything. In his fire form, he was granted the ability to fly and heal and even out of his fire form, Chanyeol could withstand extreme heat.
He worked with Mirae in the Center for Paranormal Research upon his discovery by Ino, leaving his work in his mother’s Italian restaurant behind to find purpose for his abilities. For some time after the Seoul attack, Chanyeol thought he was the only one left, until he was seen by another survivor, their tech guy Choi Junhong, looking over the remains of what used to be the Center, the epicenter of the entire attack.
From the adventures they had, the three of them still managed to continue with their lives. Hyuk stayed in his agency to work on music, Chanyeol helped around his parents’ restaurant and live club, while Mirae ran the music store that she took ownership in after the passing of her adoptive parents. Hyuk and Chanyeol also helped other mutants like them, Mirae’s old colleagues from her days as an assassin under a sanitarium, practice controlling their powers.
With the way the events of the past years shaped them, their lives would forever be intertwined and they knew it. Even with the disagreements that occurred in the final days of the Seoul attack, with the three of them being the only survivors from that group that acted, they were like family to each other.
“One of these days, we’ll go on a mission, do something, just the three of us again,” Chanyeol said fondly, finishing the last slice of pizza from his place.
“Even if we don’t go on something like that, we should still do something, just the three of us,” Mirae repeated with a grin. “It’s been a while, hasn’t it?”
“Yeah, someone needs to watch your back this time, you nearly got your powers taken away,” Hyuk pointed out, taking a sip of his iced tea.
The last adventure Mirae went on involved a demon and their followers, the one responsible for a long-running conspiracy that went behind the glitz and glamour of the country’s entertainment industry. Mirae was outmatched and captured, her powers being used to channel the summoning of the demon Ose. It left her boyfriend Yunho and her half-brother San, along with her old colleagues including immortal mutant billionaire Kang Yeosang, to be the ones to save her and the world.
Mirae shook her head. “It was only one time. Just one. But I’m starting to think I’m losing my touch, to be honest,” She looked down at her now-empty plate.
“I wouldn’t think of it that way if I were you,” Hyuk patted her shoulder. “You still have your powers, don’t you? Didn’t Junhong say your powers only got stronger after that? You’re practically invincible.”
“Says the person who is also practically invincible,” Mirae grinned.
“But I don’t heal like you do. Chanyeol doesn’t even heal like you unless he sets himself on fire.”
“Can you stop talking about injuries now? I think we’ll be late for that training session both of you promised the guys,” Mirae nudged the telekinetic.
Chanyeol got up at the mention of the training session. All of their plates floating in mid-air, the cutlery and glasses sorting themselves out, as Hyuk followed the taller male into the kitchen, making sure nothing dropped. Mirae smiled to herself as she removed the tablecloth and the napkins.
The boys at the safehouse would be waiting for them, San and Yunho included. Choi San was her half-brother, and had almost the same abilities as her, including her healing factor and a mastery of martial arts. Unlike Mirae, who channeled her powers mainly through her extendable staff, San channeled his into a harpoon gun.
San’s powers first manifested in his high school years, as a result of the constant pressure placed on him by their father, who wanted him to pursue a career he himself wanted. Upon learning how to control his abilities better, San ran away from home, eventually learning the skills he knew to become a paid hitman. San also witnessed Mirae getting taken away to be interned at the sanitarium, and he looked everywhere for her.
Jeong Yunho was Mirae’s boyfriend. Yunho was also like her, skilled in hand-to-hand combat, both unarmed and armed. Yunho was also a mutant, an immortal mutant who possessed the ability to teleport, but could only do so in dark places.
Yunho’s powers manifested when he was killed in Morocco during what would be Mirae’s final mission before she was discharged. Her memories of him were seemingly erased in the final electroshock therapy session used to alter her recollection of missions. They only found each other again when Mirae was being targeted by the Kang crime family, descendants of Yeosang who held a disdain for mutants.
Hyuk returned from the kitchen. “What’s that smile about?” He asked.
“Nothing, nothing, I just realized how it’s been a while since we did something like this together,” Mirae replied.
“Lee Mirae, you’re getting sappy.”
“Did I lie?” She laughed.
“No, but that’s weird of you,” Hyuk laughed as well. “I mean you are right. I’ve been busy practically managing the group, Chanyeol’s busy here, we’re just busy living our lives.”
“My point stands that we’ve never done anything together in a while, unless those goblins come up again and try to kill us,” Mirae joked.
“Hopefully not,” Said the psychic, the table in front of them turning itself over on top of another table. “Even with the way things ended back then, I’m glad the three of us found each other.”
The kitchen doors opened and Chanyeol returned, wiping his hands, with his backpack in tow. “Whose car are we using?” He asked.
Without another word, the three of them extended their fists. Both Mirae and Chanyeol had scissors, while Hyuk’s hand remained curled into a fist. “Guess it’s yours then, Mr. Psychic,” Mirae grinned.
“Be glad I stopped for gas before coming here,” He gave them a look as they left the restaurant.
The car pulled up in front of a brick-walled building that had a vending machine. It was the entrance to the safehouse that now became the headquarters of everything mutant-related. It was also where Mirae’s old colleagues were now staying, with the exception of two; Jung Wooyoung and Park Seonghwa.
The three of them got out, sensing the slight change in the air as they approached the machine. They knew there was a sort of cloaking over the spot that shielded anyone from seeing that the vending machine moved to the side to reveal a secret passage. Chanyeol, Mirae, and Hyuk entered the dark passageway and stopped at the red door at the very end.
The safehouse was similarly modeled to the recreation room in the Center for Paranormal Research, with a couch and beanbags surrounding a flat-screen television and several game consoles. There was a sleeping quarters and a shower area and a kitchen that was only stocked with instant food. Ino and Junhong’s labs and offices were in the two other doors in the kitchen area that had a small dining table where they would at least take turns in eating.
This time, the safehouse had since expanded thanks to Ino’s ability to manipulate matter. Junhong’s lab was much bigger, more beds were added to the sleeping quarters, and there was a small training room that Junhong fortified. A shelf was behind the television, showing all the weapons carried by the group of men who now resided in the place; a rapier, a set of nunchaku, and a few axes and shurikens. Those belonged to three people: Kim Hongjoong, Choi Jongho, and Song Mingi.
All of them were trained assassins, skilled in hand-to-hand combat both unarmed and armed. While Mirae and Yunho were no longer part of the group, the remaining members were turned into personal guards of the Kang crime family and underwent several experiments to turn them into super soldiers. All of them were impervious to pain and were a lot more agile in their movements.
It was those experiments that triggered the mutant gene in each of them, their own mutant abilities manifesting around the same time. Hongjoong possessed superhuman speed and could be as fast as the speed of light that also enabled him to heal if wounded. Seonghwa was a telekinetic, whose powers also made itself known if his eyes and fingertips glowed green. Mingi, like Chanyeol, was also a pyrokinetic, but unlike Chanyeol, could only manipulate flames that already exist.
Wooyoung on the other hand, possessed the ability to turn into a shadow being. His shadow form allowed him to be intangible, as well as give him superhuman strength and a healing factor. But along with his shadow form, Wooyoung developed a kind of extrasensory perception, where he could see past and future events from a person or an object, or even a name.
Jongho had the painful ability to manipulate his bone structure, and his arms and legs would produce a sharp spike that could pierce anything.
They immediately noticed that a few other weapons were shelved, as they were likely in the labs or in the training room; a set of sai, katanas, a bow and a quiver full of arrows, and the harpoon gun. Everyone was indeed present.
“Hello?” Hyuk called out as they closed the door behind them.
“We’re here!” Chanyeol called out as well.
“Yunho? San?” Mirae spoke, looking around the empty living room.
Suddenly materializing in front of them was Ino. “Good! You’re all here! The rest of them are in the training rooms, but can you wait a little bit? There’s something I’m finishing and I hope the three of you can test it out for me,” He said.
Jang Ino was a prime example of a true omega-level mutant, with abilities so powerful he was almost like a god. Ino had the gift of manipulating matter, inter-dimensional teleportation, telekinesis, telepathy, duplication with sentient clones, intangibility, precognition as well as the ability to see everything as it happened. Ino’s abilities manifested much later than the rest of them despite not being much older than Chanyeol, Hyuk, and Mirae, and thus had more difficulty trying to control each of his abilities.
“Really? What is it?” Mirae asked as Chanyeol put down his backpack while she put down her staff.
Ino looked excited. “Another training room, or…?”
“Another Danger Room,” Hyuk nodded. “Can it not turn into a vortex manipulator again?”
“I can’t promise that, but it’s as safe as ever, right? Just like old times,” Ino was beaming. “Ah, well, you might as well see it for yourself. I’ll call the rest of them,” and he disappeared.
“Are we supposed to wait for them here?” Chanyeol glanced at them, and they shrugged.
A commotion erupted from the door that was Junhong’s lab, making them turn around. “For a telekinetic, you could’ve aimed better! You could’ve killed me!” Hongjoong appeared, shooting Seonghwa a look.
“You sped away in time! You knew it wasn’t going to reach you anyway!” Seonghwa argued back.
“Well I wasn’t able to, not when Mingi keeps playing with that lighter of his! It’s like having to pass by a dragon each time I’m next to him.”
“So your situation is actually my fault, is that what you’re saying?” Mingi spoke, looking at them incredulously. “I was practicing my pyrokinesis the way Chanyeol hyung showed me, right, San?”
“Stop including me!” said the male who had a visible white streak in his hair similar to Mirae’s.
“This was a department store-bought shirt and Jongho just had to ruin it!” Wooyoung shrieked, pointing to the tears in his sleeve.
“Welcome to my world, Wooyoung! Live with it!” Jongho shot back.
“At least I don’t have spikes coming out of my sleeves and pants!”
Chanyeol and Mirae exchanged looks. Hyuk stifled a laugh. “Kind of reminds you how much we bickered back then, huh? I bet those guys would’ve loved to see a repeat of this,” He chuckled.
“Nothing seems to have changed after all,” Mirae laughed, their reactions making the group stop in their tracks. “We just had dinner,” She explained. “I see training’s been going well?”
“Not so much when the rest of them bicker more than San and I do,” out of the group came Yunho, who immediately swept her up in a hug then exchanged high fives with Hyuk and Chanyeol as he pulled away.
The taller form of Junhong appeared from the crowd as well, with scorch marks on his lab coat and a hole in his clipboard. Ino had materialized again as well. “So, the Danger Room, Junhong?” Hyuk asked.
“Yes, yes, the Danger Room,” Junhong led them to the pair of doors on the other side of the space. He pushed the button, the doors opening up to reveal a dark room covered in what looked like steel tiles. There was a panel of buttons near the doors from the inside and on one side of the room, was a booth. “Ta-da!” He announced, looking over at the three of them, while the rest looked amazed.
“A little shift in elements here and there, I was able to expand this entire space of ours, make it a little more familiar, don’t you think?” Ino smiled.
Mirae approached the panel of buttons near the side. “Ice fortress, dystopia, post-apocalypse, zombie invasion, alien invasion, gladiator arena,” She read out. Mirae turned to the next set of buttons and looked over at Junhong. “Why is my name at the top of this panel? Am I a level of difficulty?” She asked, looking puzzled.
“The highest,” Ino spoke. “But that level’s reserved for the three of you, not that these guys can’t do it, but the three of you are more experienced.”
“San and Yunho are just as experienced, if you ask me,” Mirae pointed out with a shrug, choosing not to argue any more.
“Yes, but they’ve never been through the same missions as you and Chanyeol did back at the Center, remember?” Ino reminded her. “The creatures at the museum, the goblin warriors at the train station, and their throne room, and the jewelry store at night?”
“I remember the jewelry store one,” Hyuk said, glancing at her. “We were coming from dinner when the store exploded. It was the time I found out Mirae was a mutant.”
Mirae smiled at her friend’s recollection. “Yeah, you came from that singing competition too.”
Chanyeol grinned. “The train station, I remember that well. Everyone hated us when they saw what was happening in broad daylight. Junmyeon got hot coffee thrown at him...” He looked down the more he remembered.
Ino noticed Wooyoung squinting at him, the rest of them looking fascinated by their brief trip down memory lane. “Well, I thought I’d show the rest of them how the three of you would do things in these simulations. Hyuk, I know you joined us late at the time, but you still know a thing or two on how to handle non-human entities, right?” He said.
“Oh yeah, I was with you all at the Esteholm,” Hyuk smiled. Sensing everyone else’s confused expressions, he chuckled. “It’s a hidden marketplace for non-humans, goblins, witches, warlocks, ogres…”
“You mean those things were actually here all this time?! On this planet?!” Mingi gaped at him and they nodded.
“Okay, okay, we’ll have a lot of time to talk about that later, but let’s have the three of you take this new Danger Room for a test run?” Ino suggested. “The rest of you follow Junhong into the booth, we’ll all watch from there.”
“What are we taking on?” Mirae asked.
Hyuk approached the panels. “What about…” He stopped when he read the mode at the bottom. “Evil villain mansion? What kind of mode is that?” He laughed.
Chanyeol and Mirae laughed as well. Mirae glanced at the booth, giving a thumbs up to Yunho and San, who looked excited as did the rest of them. “It’s exactly what it is. The mansion of the bad guy,” Junhong said from the booth.
“Alright then, put up the difficulty rate to my name, I guess,” Mirae said.
“That’s what I had in mind. Initializing evil villain mansion, Lee Mirae difficulty,” Junhong announced.
Hyuk backed away, until he was back to back with Chanyeol and Mirae. They heard tiles shifting and a swirling of colors all around them, bringing in a strong gust of wind. Mirae took out her staff from her jacket pocket and extended it. After a few moments, the swirling was disappearing, and they found themselves in what was the ballroom of a large, abandoned house that had some bits of modern technology on the locks of the doors and the windows.
“Okay, so this is the evil villain mansion,” Chanyeol mumbled as they took in their surroundings. “Where’s the evil villain, then?”
Mirae took a step forward, seeing two metal circles near the large fireplace. There was a seven-pointed star engraved on one circle, a hexagon that had the shape of a keyhole in the middle engraved on the other. The circles began to turn, until it slowly went up to reveal coffin-shaped tubes.
“This is oddly specific,” She muttered.
Hyuk and Chanyeol stared at the tubes as well. The closer they looked, they saw bodies, blackened and as if they had been mummified. “This is very specific,” Chanyeol nodded, feeling a chill down his spine as they approached the tubes.
Back at the booth, the rest of them stared at what was happening. “Can they see us?” Jongho asked curiously.
“I don’t think they can, can they?” Hongjoong glanced at Junhong, who was looking at the panels of controls. “But the surroundings look so real.”
“I know I should be used to this, but this is something I’ve never seen before…” San was staring at the tubes that were opening up in front of the three.
“Me neither, and I thought I’ve seen everything,” Yunho nodded.
From the side of the room, Wooyoung could suddenly see flashes of scenes in his head. He looked back at what was happening, seeing Hyuk, Mirae, and Chanyeol nearly destroy the surroundings they were in as humanoid demons with large talons began to attack them. The flashes kept coming. He could see people he hadn’t seen before having been inside the very booth they were in. Yet, Wooyoung wasn’t sure if this had already happened or it was about to happen. He stayed watching the simulation that Mirae, Hyuk, and Chanyeol were in.
“Kind of familiar, isn’t it? The train station,” Mirae’s eyes and fingertips were glowing as she sent shockwaves towards the two demons, but to no avail. Instead, the demons clapped their hands, sending similar shockwaves towards her. “They’re parrots.”
“What do you mean parrots?” Chanyeol had transformed into his fire form, dodging the attacks that were coming towards him.
“They’re copying everything we do,” Mirae spun her staff a few times before hitting the demon, only to be sent back by the other, who had turned into a fiery figure as well.
“Can they copy this?” Hyuk waved his hand, sending the two demons in mid-air. His eyes widened when the figure also raised their claws at him, lifting him up and off the floor. “This is impossible-” He crashed into the wall, moving away when some of the decor fell down.
“Looks like Junhong had his work cut out for him,” Chanyeol tried to burn down the doors of the room until the surroundings changed into what looked like a massive dock full of zeppelins and tables full of volatile chemicals in test tubes and beakers. “Yeah, now I can see why Mirae turned into a level of difficulty.”
“Let’s try not to touch anything, or interact with anything on those tables,” Mirae looked around on alert.
They heard a blast from all the way on the other side of the room. “Looks like they found us,” Hyuk said, trying to move the zeppelins as carefully as possible towards the source of the blasts.
“Those might explode if you let them get blasted,” Chanyeol called out at the telekinetic.
“Would you rather we get out of here with those? We don’t even know what to use these for” Hyuk pointed out, still trying to move the airships as the blasts grew louder, the impact exploding the tables closest to it. “At least they get blasted and we don’t-”
Boom.
There was a blast on their side of the dock, sending the three of them to the floor, as bits of shrapnel and the chemicals on the tables exploded. A large cloud of smoke enveloped them, soon revealing that they were no longer at the dock. They were back in the Danger Room, or at least what was left of the Danger Room.
Mirae opened her eyes, feeling considerably beaten as she looked around, surprised at what she was seeing. Her clothes were scorched, her staff was gone, and from the gust of wind that hit her, she realized what happened.
The safehouse seemed to have exploded.
Mirae looked around for a sign of Chanyeol and Hyuk. Was she still in the simulation? “Mirae! Mirae! Mirae! Are you alright?” She turned around, seeing Junhong, Yunho, and Hongjoong run up to her. “The machines overloaded when I was about to take you three out of there,” The tech guy explained.
She nodded, a feeling of dread suddenly overcoming her as she looked around the area. “Chanyeol? Hyuk?” She called out, kicking away a few bits and pieces of the rubble that surrounded them. “Chanyeol-” She stopped, feeling her heart sink.
Chanyeol was lying on the floor, a puddle of blood near his head, and bits of shrapnel having hit his sides. Mirae looked around for a sign of the telekinetic, only to realize that he was also lying on the floor, eyes glazed over. A piece of shrapnel hit his head.
“Chanyeol, Hyuk,” Mirae bent down, moving the rubble away from her best friends. She refused to believe it, refused to think that what happened really happened. “Chanyeol, Hyuk,” She took one of the sharp rocks and cut open her wrist, pouring some of the blood into where Chanyeol was hit. “Come on, both of you, this isn’t funny,” She saw that they weren’t moving while her wrist had already healed.
Junhong bent down to check Hyuk’s pulse, only for his expression to fall when he realized there was none. “Mirae,” He tried to say.
“No, I know what you’re going to say, and I don’t believe you,” Mirae shook her head profusely, crawling up to Hyuk. Tears were already falling from her eyes as the reality was hitting her bit by bit. “No, no, this can’t happen, not here, not now, no,” She patted his face, but no response. “No, Hyuk, no, don’t, please-” A sob escaped her as she held his body. “Hyuk, no, no, no, no, no,” She sobbed, reaching out to hold Chanyeol’s hand that was going cold. “No, please no, Chanyeol, Hyuk, you two can stop it now, please…”
“Mirae,” Junhong said again.
Hongjoong and Yunho exchanged looks, hearing the rest of their colleagues including San appear, all of them had traces of the smoke from the explosion on them.
“No!” Mirae shook her head again, until she broke down. They were gone. Her best friends. Gone.

The first thump startled them both. Sam snapped his head up from his book and glared across the table at Dean's wide-eyed confusion, then followed his stare as he looked to the doorway. The second thump reverberated through the Bunker, faded as it reached the Kitchen where they sat eating breakfast, then fell silent once more. With the third echoing concussion, Sam and Dean leaped from their seats and bolted for the war room.
There they found nothing until a final resounding thump knocked on the Bunker doorway, its thunderous boom rumbling through the vaulted space for several seconds until it, too, faded.
“Someone is… knocking on the door," Dean stated.
Though it was not a question, Sam concurred. “I think so,” he started as he stepped towards the stairs.
“Don’t open it!”
Over his shoulder, Sam asked, “Why? What if someone needs help?”
Dean rolled his eyes harder than Sam had seen in months. “Who cares?! Nobody should know we’re in here!” he hissed through gritted teeth.
A single second seemed to stretch forever as they stared one another down until Sam bolted up the stairs. Dean chased after him, taking the steps two at a time, but Sam’s longer legs leaped three and even skipped the last four as he vaulted to the landing. With victory in reach, he grasped the cold iron handle of the door, but the moment he pulled, Dean barreled into him. Torn from the door, Sam struggled for the handle until Dean restrained him, arms entangled and boots scraping the floor.
Another resounding knock on the metal shook the foundation, and they froze in their awkward position.  The thunderous echo rolled once more through the Bunker, then faded into silence, but Sam knew it was not over.
“They’re going to break the door down!” he spat from Dean's half-nelson headlock.
As he struggled, Dean replied, “Let them! Then we’ll have a reason to kill whoever it is!”
“I can hear you.”
The lilting alto of a woman penetrated the door and Sam stilled as Dean’s restraint loosened. “Did you hear that?”
After one lingering moment, Dean released him. “Yeah. Who’s there?!” he barked.
“My name is Adria. I am here to speak with Sam Winchester,” the muted voice said. “Is that you, Dean?” she asked.
“How do you know my name?!” he bellowed at the door. “Who the hell—”
Sam calmed him with a hand at his shoulder. “Can we just open the damn door? Please?”
Dean’s glare promised Sam hellfire and brimstone if shit went sideways. “Fine.”
He turned back to the door, trepidation numbing his fingers. One clarifying breath steeled his nerve. Someone just needed his help. She knew their names. They must have met before. Resolved, Sam shook free of his caution, grasped the handle of the door, and wrenched it open. In the dim portal light, a tall, dark-haired woman stood. She wore a faded NASA t-shirt tucked into the front of her jeans and a pair of tennis shoes. In the crook of her elbow she clutched a small, leather bound book against her chest, and on the other a yellow purse hung from its strap.
“What do you want?”
She did not simply ignore Dean’s belligerence. She acted as if he had not even spoken and looked directly at Sam. “How are you, my Lord?”
My lord. He must have misheard her. “Ah… wha—” he cleared his throat, “What did you just call me?”
Her bright doe eyes shifted from him to Dean and back before she said, “My Lord.”
Unsure of how to respond, Sam checked in with Dean to find him equally stunned, his glare shifting between Sam and the woman. When Dean returned his focus to Adria, he spoke out of the side of his mouth. “Sam, something’s wrong with her. She thinks you’re some sort of royalty.”
That seemed to strike a nerve. Adria's fierce hazel stare snapped to Dean as she seethed, “How dare you speak such blasphemy to the King of Hell?”
The world came to a screeching halt as Sam reeled, mind leaping from thought to thought as he tried to keep up. For a moment, he was convinced that this was some sort of elaborate prank set up by Dean and his friend. But Dean's gaping mouth and bulging eyes said more than any denial could.
Sam held his breath as he waited for his tirade, but it never came. A roar of laughter burst from Dean’s wide-open mouth as he clutched his stomach and damn near fell backwards down the stairs. “King of Hell?" he breathed through a gasp as he reached for the railing. His laughter continued as he repeated himself. "King of… of Hell?!" Another peal of laughter filled the entry and Dean double over, hands on his knees. Several awkward seconds passed before he calmed down with a clarifying breath. "Holy shit, that’s a good one. King of Hell. Ha! You…" he paused as a bark of laughter interrupted his thought. “Whew. You really had us going there for a second, lady. What’s up, what are you selling—”
With a blink, Adria's eyes blackened, dark as pitch, then reverted to their natural hazel in another flick of her long lashes. "I am here on official business, Dean Winchester,” she stated.
The flat of Dean's palm slapped Sam across the chest. As he stepped in front of him, he said, “Son of a bitch, she's a demon.”
“I gathered that much," Sam stated flatly. A gentle nudge eased Dean's arm aside, and Sam stepped forward. "What do you wan—”
“Give me one good reason I don’t waste you here and now,” Dean barreled over Sam.
Adria held the small tome out to Dean, but he refused to take it, hands shooting into the air as if she pointed a gun at him. When he refused to move, she turned to Sam. “Hell has been a bit of a mess since Crowley died. Nobody assumed control,” she explained, still holding the book aloft. “When Sam blocked the throne about two years ago, most demons went into hiding. The fucking cowards missed a real opportunity there. I convinced them to align with you,” she finished as she regarded Sam with a smile that looked far too sweet for a demon.
“Align… are you saying that every demon in Hell wants to follow me?” Sam asked.
As though it were as simple as that, Adria shrugged with a nod, then a coy smirk curled her lips. “They always say those Winchester boys are too smart for their own good.”
“Who says that?” Dean barked.
She turned to him, her smile widening. “Demons. Succubi. Incubi. Damned spirits. You know. The denizens of Hell. Word travels fast, and, well you boys have been at it for fifteen years. Got a reputation. Sam’s living up to his.” She paused as she measured Dean head to toe and back. “You… might actually be living up to yours. But I don’t want to report back that the big, bad Dean Winchester froze when handed the Book of Shadows.”
Dean’s arms slowly lowered to his sides as he asked, “Book of Shadows?”
A long, lacquered nail tapped the midnight blue cover.
No. Purple cover.
Black.
Blue.
Green?!
“What… is that… that’s not leather,” Sam stuttered.
Her finger traced the Celtic brain encircling the pentagram. “It is. Dragonhide. She gave me a skin from her own flank.”
Sam’s attention snapped to Dean as he stepped forward and said, “She gave you a piece of her skin?!”
Adria’s coy smirk returned. “I asked nicely,” she said as she tapped the metal emblem with her nail.
“And that?” Sam asked as he returned to the book. “That gem.”
“Ah, you have a keen eye, Sam Winchester,” she sighed as she smoothed the stone with her fingertips. “That is a lifestone. It quiets the worried mind, soothes the anxious soul. It’s quite useful for completing contracts.”
His eyes snapped to hers. “Contracts?” he growled.
Adria met his glare head on, then opened the book in the middle. “Yes. Contracts. This book contains all current operations that require ongoing management and prospects on which decisions need to be made,” she said as she held it out to him. When neither of them took it, she pointed at a line for them to read.
“I don’t… think that’s a good idea,” Sam started. “That’s—”
“Sam, shut up for a second,” Dean interrupted as he backhanded him in the shoulder. “Look at it.”
Sam did as Dean ordered and as he read, his jaw dropped. A long list of contracts, some initiated and others marked as potential deals, filled the page in a perfect script so tiny that Sam had to lean into read it. Hundreds of names in alphabetical order listed what they had wanted in exchanged for their soul in a set number of years. Some had no year, and Sam’s stomach sickened at the thought of what those poor souls had endured.
“So…” Sam started, “what do you need me to do?”
Adria grabbed Sam’s hand, much to Dean’s ire, and placed the open book in it. “Review each contract, both existing and potential and decide on how to proceed. Existing contracts are always reviewed every year to ensure that they are still beneficial to Hell. If not, we typically collect early to free up crossroad resources. As for potentials, you’ll need to decide if they’re even worth making the deal, as well as their terms and conditions.”
“Where are the—”
“The book has everything you’ll need to decide,” Adria clarified.
Unsure, he glanced at the book, then checked back to Adria. She said nothing, merely smiled again. He returned to the book and, when he flipped to the next page, her statement proved true. Another sheet of paper manifested with more names. He flipped through four pages before he arrived at the existing contracts and their details listed in full. More pages listed terms and conditions. Another ten pages contained the same. Sam gathered the remaining pages and thumbed through them, but no matter how many pages he passed, the book never seemed to progress in either direction.
When he arrived at the potential contracts, Sam stopped. He barely bothered to read the first prospect, then snapped the book shut. A brief thought occurred to him, then he handed the book back to Adria and said, “Burn it.”
Dean snorted a laugh through his nose, then snapped over his mouth. Adria regarded them both before glaring at Sam. “What?”
“I said burn it. I want you to burn the list, the contracts, and that whack-ass fucking book, holy shit, I cannot believe I touched that thing,” he rambled as he wiped his hands on his pants. “Christ, what kind of magic is that, my hands are on fire.”
“The magic of responsibility,” Adria huffed with an air of superiority. “You seriously want me to destroy it?”
“Yes!” Sam shouted. “Get rid of them all! No more deals! No more contracts! Just… give it a fucking rest. Seriously, hell and heaven have done enough damage messing with humans. For once, just do your damn jobs and manage the souls that come to you the only way they should.”
A narrowed glare far too familiar eyed them both before Adria returned the book to the crook of her arm and straightened her spine. Her sweet smile returned as though it had never left. From her purse she fished out a solid black business card and handed it to Sam. He took it, looked it over, and found handwriting matching that of the list in the book detailing her contact information. “So be it. When I require anything further from you, I’ll email you. But in the meantime, if you have questions, my number is also on the card.”
A long, weighing look of Dean, then Sam, preceded her departure.
“Here’s to new beginnings. All hail King Sam, the Lord of Hell. May his reign be long and,” she paused as she eyed him head to toe, “prosperous.”
She turned on her heel and ascended the ladder for the exterior door of the Bunker. Sam turned to check in with Dean only to find him watching Adria climb until the top hatched closed. When Dean found he had been caught staring, he grinned. “I think she likes you.”
“What?”
“I’m just saying you shouldn’t rule her out,” Dean added as he turned for the stairs. “Not like it would be the first time you banged a demon…”
“Dean, that’s—”
“I’m not giving you shit,” Dean said as he descended the steps. “She actually seemed pretty cool. You should invite her back over when she emails you. I mean, it sounds like she organized all of Hell to support you. She must think you’re the right person for the job.”
Sam followed him down the stairs, the gears in his mind churning. “She was nice… and she didn’t seem too upset about my very hasty decision to burn that book. I’m not sure was the right thing to do.”
“Pff, gimme a break. You just saved like, thousands of lives, man,” Dean said as he arrived at the bottom of the stairs. He turned to face Sam and clapped him on the shoulder. “We never get it done that easily. And you practically got a girlfriend out of the gig, too.”
“You are so fucking gross sometimes,” Sam sighed. “We—both of us—had a ten-minute conversation with her, she’s not—”
“Sometimes all you need is ten minutes. Even if I’m standing right there. Did you not see the way she looked at you when she left? All hail King Sam, Lord of Hell. She eye-fucked the shit out of you.”
No. Regardless of Dean’s teasing, nothing could be worse than a relationship with another demon. “I don’t even know why we’re talking about this,” Sam said as he turned for the kitchen. “I need a drink.”
When he skipped down the steps, Dean called after him. “Give me her number! Or that card!”
Sam shook his head and rolled his eyes. He would definitely not be giving Dean her number. Or her email. Or anything of Adria’s for that matter.
A small smile quirked the corner of his mouth as he regarded her business card once more. No, he thought. He would absolutely be keeping her all to himself.

The biggest bad to ever bad
Supernatural 14x20 is going to be marked in my head as one of the best season finales of television ever! It’s not because of the quality of the production, though; it’s because of the potential it opened for a fantastic final season of such a long-lasting show. There are so many things I want to talk about (God & the Winchesters, Castiel and Destiel), but I think I will have to write separate posts for each because I don’t want this to get extremely long.
Let’s talk about God and the Winchesters first, shall we?
After 14x20, everything seems to indicate that God is the big bad for season 15, right? In fact, we might even say that God has been the big bad ALL ALONG. Right? RIGHT? Yeah, well… about that…
NO, my dear friends, God is not the big bad on Supernatural, and I’m gonna tell you why that is my opinion.
Disclaimer: This post will include a lot of life philosophies that may or may not resonate with what you believe in. If you think I’m talking bullshit, that’s fine! Just please don’t waste time attacking me or my post in any way because I won’t engage in any type of hateful behavior.
With that being said, I need to emphasize the beauty orchestrated by Andrew Dabb (showrunner and writer of the finale). He turned the Supernatural universe into a huge metaphor for our own very real world (nothing new if you really think about it). BUT, he also made Chuck the manifestation of the God many people believe exists IRL.
“None of this would have happened without you”, Dean tells John Winchester at the start of the recap. Those words feel ominous now, considering Dean said them to his father but they could as easily be directed to the father of all creation, God himself (or Chuck, as he prefers to be called).
None of what has happened in 14 years of Supernatural would have happened without Chuck. That’s an undeniable truth, but that doesn’t mean everything has been entirely his fault.
He’s a writer, and writers lie. We were told that in 14x20, but I think Chuck was telling the truth about something in particular:
“You guys know me. I’m hands-off. I built the sandbox… you play in it. You want to fight Leviathans? Cool. You got that. You want to go up against the… What was it? The ‘British Men of Letters’? Okay. Little weak, but okay.”
Chuck created this world with everything in it, and then he “left”. Although, he never truly left. From the beginning he’s been “everywhere and nowhere, to the edge of the universe and beyond”. The thing is that he’s most of the times HANDS-OFF.
He didn’t create other beings to be inferior. “Existence is all about balance”, he said when trying to explain why the Equalizer didn’t have any bullets.
“This doesn’t so much fire bullets as it sends a wave of multi-dimensional energy across a perfectly balanced quantum link between whoever’s shooting it and whoever they’re shooting at.”
Why is that line relevant? Ohhhh because if we read a little about quantum physics, we’ll know that we humans are energy. We all are. Actually, everything that exists in this world is energy. There are some philosophies where the concept of God goes beyond what religion offers. Some people don’t use the word “God”, but they prefer to use the word “Source” because there is a source of energy, and we all are interconnected through that energy that we all share. In a way, we are extensions of Source Energy, and that’s why we all can be considered divine.
If we dig a little into that philosophy, we find out that the human journey in a lifetime is to ascend in consciousness. We have a conscious and subconscious mind, and there’s science to back up that our subconscious runs the show most of the time. (Watch this video if you’re at all interested). It’s thanks to it that we make quick decisions during times of crisis and emergency, and it’s thanks to both our conscious and subconscious mind that we create our own reality. Unfortunately, we are EXTREMELY UNAWARE OF THE PROGRAMMING IN OUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, so the reality that we observe is not exactly pretty, because we tend to create that which we fear the most. We keep repeating patterns over and over until we become aware of what’s going on (or we die and never become aware, too bad).
In real life, the God that many people believe in certainly built the sandbox and left us to play in it and do whatever we want. That God or Source is HANDS-OFF for real, because we are made of the same energy, so we have creative power, too, whether we understand/believe it or not. The less aware we are, the more likely we are to believe THINGS HAPPEN TO US.
There’s always a villain outside of ourselves: our parents, our partners, our friends, our coworkers or classmates, our neighbors, that random person who stole from us or who said nasty things about us. We all have our own Leviathans, Michaels, Lucifers, and some villains in our life just as pathetic as Asmodeus or the British Men of Letters. The point is that when we are NOT aware of OUR OWN POWER OF CREATION, we are at the mercy of our subconscious, thinking that terrible things will continue to happen, over and over.
So, going back to Supernatural, Chuck came back in 14x20 with a special gun, and one of the names he gave to it was EQUALIZER. Seriously??!! Later in the ep, when Sam shot God with that gun, he shot himself. THAT’S SO SYMBOLIC I CAN’T EVEN! Don’t you see this? If we keep talking about Source of energy (instead of “god”) and understand that all beings are made of energy even if we have a material body, we get to understand the metaphor found in the Bible that states we should love God and we should love our neighbors as we love ourselves. WE ARE ALL ONE. I mean, I can plug two or three appliances into one same outlet and even though each appliance serves a different purpose, the energy that keeps them “alive” is the same.
We build an ego to create a false sense of self, but we’re all one. While we’re unaware of this, we think of God as that powerful being, outside of ourselves, who controls everything and we think that we’re at his mercy. We pray and we think that when things go well, God is blessing us, but when things go wrong, he’s punishing us or he has abandoned us. When truth be told, we have been creating our own reality ALL ALONG thanks to our stupid programming.
The Winchesters have been repeating the same mistakes over and over. Their programming is filled with “GOOD THINGS NEVER HAPPEN. I DON’T DESERVE GOOD THINGS”. That’s been the case for all of them. They have claimed that everything they’ve done has been out of love, to protect their family, but that’s just crap. The love they have felt has NEVER been healthy; it’s been rooted in the fear of loss. Mary made a deal because she couldn’t bear to lose John. John made a deal because he couldn’t lose Dean. Dean made a deal because he couldn’t lose Sam. And their codependent love brought all sorts of fucked-up consequences. Don’t even get me started on the way John raised his children as a result of not being able to accept the loss of his wife. Or don’t get me started on the programming running in Mary’s head as a result of the way she was raised in the hunting life. I mean, we could spend hours and hours discussing why Mary was desperate for a “normal life”, but probably thought that she didn’t deserve it; that she was being selfish for wanting happiness when the world needed saving. How ironic that her two sons inherited the same fears, the same subconscious programming!
So, NO… God is NOT the villain. THE VILLAIN HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE WINCHESTERS THEMSELVES. (Just as in our life, we are the main character and the villain in our own story). Thinking that God is the villain is the easy way out. That’s putting responsibility for the good and the bad outside of ourselves, and that’s bullshit. The toxicity has been part of Dean and Sam’s lives since forever and they need to be aware of it. They have always had a choice, but they were unable to make the healthiest one at the time. ‘Shoot first, ask questions later’, ‘Kill all the monsters’, ‘We do what we always do, we fight to bring our loved ones back’.
That’s not love. That’s not growth. And in writing, that’s not character development.
Next season, the Winchesters will try to fight God, of course. They will most likely try to kill him. But I can tell you now, one day after the season 14 finale, that they won’t be able to. What they will understand at the end of season 15 is that they always had a choice; that the Earth will never be completely saved because it doesn’t want to be saved (each person creates their own reality, so how can they save people who are unconsciously sabotaging/destroying themselves?). It’s NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO SAVE EVERYONE. IT NEVER HAS BEEN. That’s something they have taken upon themselves and it’s insane, unrealistic, and extremely arrogant of them.
Chuck himself had to show up to push the Winchesters enough to realize that they have been repeating patterns for a long time and that it’ll end when they decide it’s time to end. When they become aware of the toxic beliefs that took them to where they are now. When they realize that the only thing they need to get their happy ending is to admit they want that (not a blaze of glory style ending) and to stop being afraid of it or guilty about wanting it.
Good things do happen. What’s the matter? You don’t think you deserve to be saved?
Chuck is just a mirror for the Winchesters. If our boys think that Chuck is the villain, then sooner or later they will realize how responsible they have been, too. I’ll be looking forward to season 15 and, most of all, to the series finale. For now, I’m gonna be in my corner, feeling confident that our boys will have the ending they deserve –the one they’ll get once they allow themselves to follow their heart.

subtext, gender/sexual politics, literature.
So I'm going to clarify a few things that have apparently become unclear to some people.
In real life, I am a homosexual woman, possibly genderfluid I guess as I don't actually strongly identify in that and often tend to write/think/operate better from male perspective in regards to how I correspond (or on a literary level as an author, I find my female characters to ironically be far more shallow than my males, which are incredibly complex most of the time, and it takes active effort for me to Girl well sometimes), but not completely; but either way, that's me. I do wholy support any and all discussion of LGBTQIA pairings deserving everything heterosexual pairings do in media, and at times I do have frustration on issues such as bisexual erasure and the like.
However, the bulk of my commentary is and will always be from a literary and/or production based observation level in regards to content/canon. (This is, of course, separate from my data sets and numbers.) As a result, I will make statements that may not necessarily resonate with LGBT+ political and equality issues, because it's true: we don't have equality in viewing.
But conflating all issues together, in my opinion, actually does us a great disservice. Until we can discuss definitions of canon and subtext - until we can acknowledge what makes these things, what our structure is, and why we are where we are - we can not actually make rational statements in regards to what the community does or doesn't deserve.
In example: Destiel
Okay, queer ship that is teetering on the brink of hard-smack-in-your-face-canon like the image hanging in Dean's Scoobynatural mancave from Point of Know Return cover. At this point, on a literature level, does it warrant completion? Yes, it certainly does, and that's it's own topic.
However until we define canon, romance, subtext, etc, how do we rationally engage in what we do and don't deserve, especially while people continue to move the goal line on what we already do and don't have? And yes, we deserve canon pairings fully 100% confirmed on screen with great endings, but don't we also deserve our subtext to be accepted and respected equally as well? Making that statement in no way whatsoever is saying that's all we deserve. It's saying we deserve the same things as everybody else. And if the same lines in the same arrangement in a straight couple is subtextually assumed into canon as a couple when almost exclusively only seeing that content, juxtaposing the right to buckle down confirmed intent of subtext is in no way saying that's what we should settle for - but we should also be equally observed on ALL fronts.
This is something I make a statement on with any kind of literary commentary though. It's not specific to Supernatural, or Destiel. I frequently lob comparitive literature into the frame because it's just that: across all literature. This isn't a point I'd just stand for one specific thing, and I apply it unilaterally.
Subtext with confirmed creator intent of presentation is itself a form of canon as per the dictionary, as almost all content is typically subtextual, especially in a video format where only dialogue is hard committed to words and Actual Text requires ELI5 Speak Into The Camera unless we happen to get a script release which, anyone who knows how scripts read, is still bare bones and subject to the blurring line of what actors see, until directors or showrunners give them extra special guidance and correction (see: Carver correcting Jensen that Dean wasn't enamored with Amara but she was his Kryptonite; Carver telling Misha to play Castiel as a jilted lover.) Without author intent, which is in fact part of the definition of accepted fictional canon, this line continues to further blur along the way as it manifests. We need to be able to discuss author intent and stick to our guns.
Frankly? I have my own headcanons. I rarely insert them into conversation. In example, to me, Castiel represents Asexual most of the time as during his angelic periods he lacks human survival function (sleep/eat/drink/age/curiously headtilt at boner) and angels seem to need to 'learn' to appreciate sex (cuz Lucifer was a billion years old when he figured out sex was fun, and Nephilim exist, Anna carved out her grace for a long list of reasons including but not limited to that) while lacking any other biological drive as compulsion as much as cost-reward-fun. I hold to the authorial intent statement of Edlund/Sgriccia for Dean's capability of love in all places/romcom fluster with dude, which manifests with a lot of standard bisexual repression issues in the character. By nature, I see a repressed bisexual and confused asexual tied in some torrid heart-wrenching homoromantic situation where, sexuality of the issue aside, the romantic elements themselves are all largely confirmed as intentional post-S9. By nature, to me, while I would love a coming-out story for Dean to take action and encourage bridging the gap, and/or a humanized Cas  (as his drives kicked in temporarily during S9), I'm not going to trumpet about wanting it rItE NaO because frankly, I also do in fact bear respect for the Asexual branch of LGBTQIA and I see no reason to force that on Cas either. (< THIS WAS IN THE ORIGINAL POST SOMEONE FLIPPED ON ME ABOUT FORCING THINGS ON CAS/ACE) There is authorial intent statements for biDean Dean, there are authorial intent statements for romantic if nonsexual Destiel, but Cas kinda floats on authorial intent.
But that's just it: While Dean’s sexuality has authorial intent statements, all that stuff about Cas?: that's my headcanon. It's well-corroborated and has a lot of substantiation via canon but Cas himself has never had sexuality statements made on an authorial level. In actual canon, he has stated he is indifferent to orientation which means he could be pan, or could be asexual (which will be addressed in a reblog to follow since this seemed to offend the f*ck out of someone despite context) either of which have foundation, and I can't smack down anybody who believes he's pan either. (and apparently I need to continue to remind the world that Sleeping With A Woman doesn't mean you're totally straight either.)
In result there's no way for me to fairly use literary angles to discuss the gender and sexual equality issues I see in the show with complete bridge to both ends of the pairing, (also part of the original post that somehow got ignored so someone could be offended) without being potentially dismissive of other headcanons that have no opposing authorial intent statement to nail down the content into canon. But this is a trap we often find ourselves in because of the sensitivity OF gender/sexual politics and the reactionary and defensive nature (part of the OP) we're used to while chasing around goal posts people pretend are moving because people refuse to nail down basic definitions like canon, subtext, and romance.
Which is why I find it so critically important for people to stand these points and stop letting straight people concern troll around while trying to pick up and move the goal post, and/or worse, training you into doing it for them. We deserve literally every consideration they get. Every. And while yes, that means we deserve happy endings, that also means our canonical subtext deserves equal footing as well.
So yes, fight for your right for happy endings, but also fight for your right to be held in EVERY same literary standard.
Yes, the world doesn’t take LGBT+ subtext seriously enough, and that’s an issue, and that needs to change, but that won’t change if people come unhinged any time we also try to bolt down canonical subtext with authorial intent under the idea that it’s implicit that it’s “all we need.” Because that isn’t what that’s saying. At all. And until we break this reactive habit we’re going to continue to be a disservice in accidentally abetting the perpetuation of this filtering (ironically missed point of OP) because we’re not even letting ourselves address it on a core and cut it off at the knees.
And that's my piece. (Reblog coming shortly)

On Clout Nine
The Dangers of Social Media Pranks and Social Experiments
Tumblr media
Have you ever seen something on social media and the only thing that your mind can come up with is “Why?!”
A popular saying on social media platform, Twitter, in response to the often obscene and unabashedly done acts and statements made is
“Clout is a dangerous drug”.
Lately, it seems like a lot of attention-deprived people on social media are trying to do the most shameful, extreme, scandalous, or ostentatious things for the rewards of the potential impact on each platform.
Clout is traditionally defined as influence in politics or business, but that definition has evolved to encapsulate having influence in online communities and, more accurately, wanting attention on social media.
Over 2 million Instagram posts have been tagged #clout, videos with the same tag have gained over 3.7 billion views on TikTok and, words such as cloutchaser (Bamidele, 2019), clout check and cloutlighting (Nagesh, 2018) have been coined. The word even inspired an app of the same name — “Klout”, a service which boldly displayed one’s social media interactions and engagements in the form of an algorithm generated figure (Edwards et al., 2013.) And, had that platform survived, people would have definitely found a way to wear their scores on their foreheads if they could or add it to their résumé. (Hello, influencer marketing is the present and the future.)
From licking ice-cream straight from the tubs and putting them back in the freezer to persons falling to their deaths from seven-story buildings after failed Planking Challenge attempts (Shears, 2011) or YouTubers dying from a close range shot to the chest during a stunt with a Desert Eagle handgun (Brantley, 2018), so many people across the world are craving the fleeting sensations of clout.
Users will therefore use a sensationalized headline or caption, clickbait, to garner as many clicks or interactions with their content as possible in tandem with the already obnoxious or shocking display, and people fall for it every time. It’s like those completely obvious magazines in supermarkets from the early 2000s that you find yourself picking up even though you KNOW the headline is a trap!
Tumblr media
(Just look at these stories. I mean, 2006 Me is SHOOK!)
The development of the internet and social media has created new opportunities for using pranks and social experiments as a veiled means of accumulating clicks and engagement by social media users. This clout manifests in the form of likes, quote tweets and retweets, subscriptions, reposts, shares, among other tools. Stacey Koosel, in The Renegotiated Self: Social Media’s Effects on Identity, states that this need for attention, to share and be a contributing part of the online community:
...motivates people to share more with each other in hopes of entertaining their audience and receiving positive reinforcement or reception of the content they posted, and in doing so, creating a sense of camaraderie or community.
Therefore, according to Koosel, some Internet users engage in “electronic exhibitionism” in an effort to lure as much attention as possible, and become celebrities by the careful construction of their online identity.
Tumblr media
While pranks and social experiments can be a good laugh or even eye-opening, in the form of social commentary or satire, sometimes, things go a little too far. These pranksters tend to get so high off of the fame these stunts bring them and the effects can be sobering. I call this On Clout Nine.
Physical Harm
The Tripping-Jump Challenge
Earlier this year, one of the most dangerous pranks to plague social media swept across the globe, claiming a few lives in its wake. The Tripping-Jump Challenge features an unsuspecting victim and two provocateurs on either side of him or her. The aim of the antagonists was to convince their target that they were all going to see who could jump the highest on camera, sometimes with a small cash reward as an incentive. When the middle person jumps, the persons on their right and left kick out their feet mid-air causing them to take an awkward tumble.
The injuries ranged from bruises to fractures to even death.
Tumblr media
As news of the prank spread on social media, it wasn’t long before it was picked up by Jamaica’s youth and three Meadowbrook High School boys were met with the consequences. But, this challenge is merely one on a long list of pranks and social experiments that are steadily becoming a threat on our little island.
Popular local YouTuber and Prankster, iHeart Manii (née Kymani White), met his match when he scouted the Half Way Tree area for potential victims of his latest social experiment. For this act, Manii would pretend to find money at the people’s feet, hold the money up very obviously and either walk away or ask the person if the money is theirs.
Yuh ever owe a Jamaican money yet? Lol.
Naturally, the responses were downright comical as most participants were dishonest and, at times, convincingly insistent. Thus, the video was circulated on social media rapidly. Today, the May 8, 2019 upload has since gained over 187,000 views, 10,000 likes and almost 2000 comments. While this is a huge accomplishment for Jamaican content creators, any well-thinking person must wonder if Kymani has really assessed the risks associated with these stunts.
Tumblr media
The woman in both screenshots above was the real star of this video as she violently challenged Kymani regarding the ownership of the money, even after being told countless times that the events were staged, eventually causing him bodily harm.
Despite run-ins with law enforcement and hostile responses to his antics from some Jamaican victims, Kymani continues to develop new prank ideas as his primary means of income and rise to fame, stating to Jamaica STAR Writer, Stephanie Lyew, “The more pranks I upload, the faster my followers grow; for example, each time I upload a prank I gain an average 400 new subscribers.” The STAR previously put Kymani’s page at 15,000 subscribers in May 2019, growing from 5,000 over ten months. Today, White’s channel boasts approximately 96,400 subscribers and the ongoing pandemic has not stopped him from executing and uploading his experiments and pranks.
Yes, these videos have proven to be profitable content but at what cost? The unpredictability of Jamaicans is what makes these pranks such a risk to the entire iHeart Manii team. Today, it’s the old woman stabbing him. Tomorrow, maybe the woman is a man, maybe the knife is a gun...
Tumblr media
Furthermore, Manii’s pinned prank upload features himself and fellow Jamaican YouTubers, Gio of Gio and Ken, and Rolley of Trouble Link, calling local taxi companies under the guise of heading to the airport with an extremely heavy suitcase. Each of the young men takes a turn being secured within the luggage, unbeknownst to the cab drivers, until the hidden participant begins to struggle and groan giving the appearance of a kidnapping in progress.
The first and third drivers were perturbed and refused to take them upon the realization that the young men had kidnapped someone. The second driver, however, began negotiating the fare and admonishing them for not speaking in hushed tones due to the nature of the act they were about to commit. This was just as, or even more disturbing than, the prank itself and, of course, my mind took OFF:
This clearly isn’t the first time this man has done this!!!
Yeah, I’m never taking another taxi again, thanks, xoxo.
So many women have been kidnapped within the public transport system. Hello, Jasmine Dean?!
Which company does he work for? Mortec?! Gadgepro?! On Time?! Mortec????!
Would he have carried the act right through for the right price?! I bet he would, the scum.
Is he going to be investigated? Paging JCF!!!!
Not ONE of them couldn’t see something wrong with this???
But, I digress (one issue at a time, Monét, one issue at a time). However, my mental tirade brings me to my second point.
Desensitization
Around October 1, 2020, a chilling video of a woman being abducted circulated on social media. In the two-minute-and-20-second-long video, the woman is shown walking down a roadway before she is restrained and pulled into a motor vehicle by four masked men. The man, Nathaniel, driving the getaway car is the woman, Tish’s, boyfriend and the video was originally uploaded to the couple’s YouTube as a prank.
Scathing reviews were aired out on every platform the video could be found as social media users condemned the men for their insensitivity and came to the woman’s defense. However, story come to bump when the video was removed for violating the platform's harmful and dangerous content policy and the girlfriend blamed it on envious people and guaranteed that the couple would come back bigger and better. So...she was in on it?!
Tumblr media
In an interview with The Weekend STAR, Trish claimed:
The prank was actually acted out. It can teach other persons. As you can see when I was walking, I was looking. Persons, young girls, should look around and know them surroundings. That was the whole idea.
These men seemed very experienced to several Twitter users, including myself.
Very believable, 10/10 performance.
Who knew Jamaica had so many fine male actors doubling as activists, aiming to raise awareness around kidnapping incidents?
Tumblr media
Even if that was the intention, they went about it in the wrong way. There was no trigger warning to prevent potential viewers, or victims from having to see or relive their worst nightmare for a few laughs. The Jamaica Constabulary Force said it best in their statement addressing the situation:
Tumblr media
Evidently, Cyberculture is blurring the lines between safe fun and harmful risks, between harmless pranks and trivialized social issues. For a little bit of clout, persons have been seriously hurt, sued, investigated by the authorities or have lost their lives. Social media has transformed the general perception on the value of lives as so many seem so eager to throw them away for a few clicks.
Moreover, when we trivialize issues in the form of pranks and social experiments, desensitization is amplified exponentially. While there may have been outrage in response to the couple’s kidnapping prank, who knows how many men secretly thought this was a good idea, who may desire to attempt it, take it too far, not in an effort to cReaTe AwARenEsS, but to really catch a woman unawares with the intention to do more than shake her up a bit?
Hopefully, these trends dissipate like so many ephemeral online fads. Until then, there is no doubt that these antics will only get worse, affecting more and more lives as this digi-cultural currency, clout, increases in its value and the risks increase in their damages. After all,  when it comes to Cyberculture, the road to fame is paved with shame, (Koestenbaum, 2011.)
Meanwhile, I? Feel zero remorse for these cloutchasers and the repurcussions which are sure to meet them when they come down from their high.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
