and really...the reason why his ed developed in the first place was because gerald and society as a whole brainwashed him into hating himself and that people would only digest him if he was in small enough, beautiful, palatable enough pieces to eat so even though he acts out or throws punches: It’s All Within The Lines.

or the confines, rather.

of the person he thinks people want him to be.

but, idk, i'm talking too much. basically, gist is, kyle has a hard time handing over control to other people/being vulnerable and the final piece to that is...permanence.

i mean, sure, they close up and you can get them removed, but you are irreconcilably changed and altered. you are different now.

i was going to go at this in more comical and dramatic way in an old post, but basically, i think kenny/bebe/craig someone basically joked about there being reduced earring piercings at claire's and they should take kyle because he's the only one without pierced ears and jersey gets really defensive about it and everyone's like ooooh! kyle's scared to get his ears pierced, so the competitive and aggressive side of him that hates to lose briefly outweighs the neurotic side and is like "fuck you!!! let's go right now! i'm not scared of anything!"

#oc talk #1- luca developed claustrophobia from the time he was locked in the school's bathroom by her bullies #2- chase got his depression from his mom; who also has it; except she goes to therapy and has meds so its now somewhat controlled #he was quite the spoiled kid by both his parents but his mom was the one who would always agree with him and give him everything #even if he was in the wrong and the worst piece of shit he could be. she felt guilty about him getting clinical depression for 'her fault'#so she wanted to 'compensate him' for 'ruining his life'. he was still pretty harsh with both of them so.#one day he told her to kill herself and go to hell over a minor thing; that same night he went to see finnley #so he never knew his mom actually tried to kill herself if thats what he wanted. his dad was kinda bitter for a few days #but eventually forgave him. and as i said none of them told him anything so he never knew.#3- maverick still gets nervous when he sees cops or hears police sirens - hes always on the edge #whether theyre going to actually arrest him some day. he doesnt know if zachary's body was ever found as he avoided tv for that reason #like he hid it in an abandoned house. it was a horrible hiding place but it was the closest he had and he was panicking with a dead body #so its not like he could do the smartest things in that state. also of course he left his dna everywhere- finding him would be really easy #but it never happened since zachary came back before anyone noticed his disappearance. and with a new appearance #its was like the old zachary people knew just stopped existing entirely. you cant do a murder case without a body #so it was just labeled as a sudden disappearance. however mav is paranoid over it when in his non-empty state #and when hes empty hes so focused in finding someone new to obsess over he stops caring- maybe he could even find someone on prison!#4- rafael doesnt talks to his family due to charlotte manipulating him into believing theyre all horrible people who hate her #and in fact they hate her! mostly his sister. they hate what she did to their son/brother but hes so blind and easy to manipulate #they stopped trying to knock some common sense into him. his sister was afraid this would happen eventually bc he was always gullible #SPECIALLY when hes in love. and well guess what happened!!#5- on the topic of charlotte; she has both tried to kill herself AND kill someone. well; her 'suicide attempt' was more likely #wanted to get hospitalized but not *actually* ending her life. in her mind that would make her parents notice how much they hurt her #with their 'favoritism' towards raven. girl they literally never had a favoritism YOU are the one who think so!!!#she never got what she wanted though-- she ended up vomiting the pills and suddenly got too embarrassed to talk about it #and guess who she wanted to kill? exactly; raven! they would sometimes see each other on family reunions and it was weird #she bought anti-freezer and brought it to a reunion-- she has been on a barista course so technically no one would think anything #if she made drinks for everyone. but raven was just so insistent on seeing the process-- due to actual curiosity-- that she couldnt do it #so she came home with an anti-freezer and incredible frustrated lmao. she was 17 though so its not like it was thoroughly planned #but you know. the intention was there.

Just finished reading Horimiya.... it was such a slog XD

It started off alright, but around the halfway mark it dropped A LOT in quality. There's so many dropped plot threads, the pacing is wonky, the character development is lacking. LIke I genuinely wanted to quit reading it and the only reason I didn't was bc a friend recommended it to me. I cannot say I'd ever recommend it to anyone. It sucks bc it was a genuinely sweet and funny drama/romance/slice of life but then it got so boring! The characters got so stagnant and nothing really happened to progress anyone's development after a certain point at all? So many things were introduced and then dropped, never to be mentioned again. People may be like oh it just became a slice of life, so thats why it has no plot after a certain point. However, that excuse is hollow because slice of life stuff does have plots, simple ones yes but they do have them. It's like the series cannibalized itself. The characters lost dimension and stuff repeated over and over. Almost nothing got truly resolved. It was so annoying to read.

#horimya #I'm sorry but I never want to read it again #In my opinion its perhaps worse bc it started out fun!#But then everything that made it fun was basically dropped #The two mcs supposedly have “secret Identities” but that didn't matter at all #Plus one of them their secret identity was just being a big sister/being responsible compared to at school where she's popular and social #The other's secret identity was having piercings and tattoos which I think has more of a foundation for him to want to keep it secret #I know that they were both in bad places and were putting up fronts so to speak but thats not handled well either #Its mentioned in like 3 chapters max but then dropped #Hori just became constantly jealous and insecure instead of a 3d character #and Miya just became like generic pretty nice boi ml #He does have some character moments but they are a) mostly in the beginning and if not b) few and far between #Even the chapter near the end where he reflects on what his life could have been like without meeting Hori was so...bleh #Bland #Basically - I would have been MISERABLE WITHOUT HER #He has such an interesting personality at first but then it gets buried #and only surfaces once in a while #Anyway my favorite characters are Kanagi and Sakura #Hori also had a personality but also gets flanderized #RIP

Ah... Yes.. A joke it would seem. Mostly. It.. wasn't always easy to tell with him, what with the seemingly chronic icy expression. Indriik, the youngest of the Schwarz family-- what was left of it-- lets his gaze wander further, away from the archfey, and instead... towards the window... where the sky appeared to lighten just so, signalling the ever nearing end of night and beginning of a coming dawn.

Indriik shifts his weight to the side, legs uncrossing and recrossing over one another... and he sighs quietly, pale lips pressing together for a moment.

"I am a daywalker- you know?" he murmurs, implying that he'd be fine during the day-- that he frequently stays awake like a diurnal entity. What he did not at all imply, is that he did this frequently, and for days on end. Which no doubt did less than great things to his already near sickly complexion. Though, instead of offering any further jokes or rebuttals, the vampire simply... bows his head in a nod, and looks up to Hal once more after a bit of a pause.

"... I... am tired." he admits. And the smallest, slightest of smiles tickles at the corner of his lips; threatening to pull upward in a half smirk at being found out. Be it in sheepishness or amusement. Did he truly look so much more terrible than usual? Or was his humble host simply more observant than he gave him credit for, he wondered? "Perhaps... It is time to rest now, yes..." he murmurs, his usual chilly tone unusually soft; only further proving Hal's observation. "it's been a good time, tonight." the vampire adds, making a point to look the other in the eye as he does. With usually being such an introverted homebody... It wasn't often he enjoyed himself in the presence of others. And for that itself, he was grateful. It was worth mentioning, he thought. "Thank you."
