I had this little idea in my mind, that i wanted to share with you.
Thenamesh 10 things i hate about you AU.
Dane the new guy at school, wants to go out with his beautiful classmate Sersi, but there's a little problem with that. Sersi can't go out unless her cold and scary older sister Thena does. So Dane does the most sensible thing, and hiers Gilgamesh a mysterious boy with a bad reputation, to date Thena.

"Sersi!"
The two bounded over to each other like puppies, or fawns with a little kick in their step. Thena did smile faintly as she watched her sister excitedly greet this equally sweet, equally nerdy boy she had found to her tastes.
It was the only reason Thena had agreed to this charade of a 'date'.
It was the only reason her 'date' had agreed as well, as far as she could gather. Dane had heard that she and Sersi could not go anywhere unless it was together, their father taking advantage of Thena's naturally repellent presence to keep people away from his more sociable daughter.
Gilgamesh was - according to reputation and rumour - a juvenile delinquent allowed to attend school for a last attempt at graduating before he joined a mob or gang for the rest of his life. He was quiet, certainly looked tall and big enough for it to be believable that he had been in some trouble with authority. He wore only dark t-shirts and jeans with unintentional tears in the knees and heavy boots. And he smoked.
"Ready for this, or what?"
Thena let some bemusement show on her face as Sersi and Dane galloped up to the snack counter, arm in arm. She drifted vaguely in Gilgamesh's direction. "You seem even more displeased by this arrangement than I could have anticipated."
He gave her an equally shrewish look, both of them in a standoff in the theatre lobby. He made the grand effort of pulling his hands out of his pockets and relaxing his posture. He really was big. "Is that how I seem?"
Thena crossed her arms at him, "you need not pretend for my sake, Gilgamesh. What did you get paid?"
He blinked.
"No one does anything with me willingly," Thena said lightly, looking towards her options for food while Dane counted out his pennies to pay for a combo to share with Sersi.
He slid a little closer to her, both of them hovering just outside the bounds of being in line. "Is that what this school is like? Guys bidding for the privilege to go out with your ladyship?"
"They have attempted it before."
"Well, that's disgusting."
Thena blinked at him, this time.
He looked over at her with his arms crossed, "you don't seem like the type who would tolerate that. For you or your sister."
"I don't," she scowled, happy to resume her previous frostiness. "But it is not that original a tactic, is all I'm saying."
"You mean this?" he pulled a few bills out of his pocket, crisp and brand new.
Thena shrank somewhat.
"Dane told me he was trying to ask out Sersi but she wasn't allowed to go anywhere without you. I told him I don't exactly have the spare cash to be taking out anyone," he raised a cool brow at her with that stupid smirk on his face, "her ladyship or otherwise."
Thena's shoulders rose, "so Dane paid you off."
"He lent me the cash to actually buy the tickets and some popcorn, Princess, so put your axe and noose away."
"Prin-"
"So, you wanna see a movie or what?" Gilgamesh stepped in even closer, leaning his head down when the thickness of his arms stopped him from encroaching more.
She eyed him. "Do you?"
He chuckled, "y'know, I really am strapped for cash. I could have just taken this and fucked right off."
Thena continued to regard the cash in his hand with disgust. She must have been feeling generous when she looked at him again, "why didn't you?"
His eyes were very brown, but warm, in a way. "Maybe I wanted the chance to figure out why everyone calls you the shrew."
"Ah," Thena scoffed, finally moving into the snack line for herself, "so you have heard."
"You seem to have heard about me."
"Everyone has heard about you," she both argued and defended, lest he think she had asked about him at any point.
"And what you think?"
It came out soft, hard to hear over the popcorn and the pretzels and the teenagers screaming at each other behind the counter. She looked over at him, but his face didn't match the almost vulnerable tone of the question.
She straightened her posture again and held her chin high, "you are not as frightening as you think you are."
His eyes slid over to her again, a grin on his face, "you're not as mean as you think you are either."
The two stared at each other, digging as deep as they could without exposing too much of themselves, either.
"Uhm, would you like-"
Gilgamesh slapped the cash on the counter and glared at the kid, "whatever the lady wants."
Thena rolled her eyes, but it couldn't be said that she wasn't laughing just a little. She sighed, looking at the LED screen menus again. "Pretzel bites and a medium iced tea, please."
"Iced tea?"
She glared at his loud and amused scoff. "What of it?"
"Even your drinks are uptight," he snickered at her, although he wasn't arguing against the choice as the employee filled up the soda fountain cup in front of them.
Her eyes narrowed, "I like iced tea."
Gilgamesh held up his hands and leaned off the counter, "I did say whatever the lady wants--the old lady, apparently."
Thena met his sardonic chuckling with her own, "if I am an old bitty then perhaps I should not be dating such a young specimen, then."
"Oh, so we are dating!"
She whipped around, ready to glower and snipe and insult him into leaving. But he reached over her shoulder to accept the drink from the kid and take a sip for himself--the first sip! "Hey!"
Gilgamesh made a display of licking and smacking his lips before slipping the cup into her hand from above and behind her, "I guess it's not vile."
Thena huffed, holding the cup protectively, soiled straw and all. "This better not taste of smoke now."
"Relax, I haven't had any today," he assuaged her, also reaching around her - rude - again for the paper cup of pretzel nuggets. He offered her one, "heard you're pretty repelled by the stuff."
"Oh." Thena accepted a pretzel bite (although, really, weren't they hers?). She turned, still somewhat pinned between him and the front counter, "well...yes."
"I do brush my teeth too, y'know," he gave her another devilish look and leaned closer again, "care to test?"
"Hm," she mused, eyeing him again. She let him drift closer until she could jam a pretzel bite between them, "no."
Gil caught the pretzel bite in his hand as she slipped away from him, rejoining her sister as Dane claimed his and Sersi's seats. The sisters traded a few, quiet words, glancing in both directions as they did. Sersi was visibly charmed by Dane.
Thena glanced briefly in Gil's direction, but that was definitely a smile on her face, "perhaps."
He took that as a good thing, walking over with the pretzel bites to her iced tea. "Well?"
Thena merely held her hand out for him to approach the counter himself.
He smirked again, dragging her with him by the wrist and then throwing his arm around her much smaller shoulder when he got up front. "Two for the same movie as them."
The young man eyed them, nothing short of confused at the display Gilgamesh was putting on. He scanned the tickets, "enjoy the movie."
Gil angled Thena to look at her again. She glared at him for man-handling her. He grinned, "I think I will."

btw i love revenge stories i dont think anyone should ever move on peacefully. a bit obsessed with the way weissman went to the synagogue and rabbi and asks, "my choices killed a child. would god take mercy on someone like me?" and the rabbi says "it's not god's mercy you should look for. its the child's" and like you think that would spur this man into charitable activities and to maybe look out for orphans but instead he goes on a 24 hour revenge bender that ultimately ends in two revenge killings and his own death. what's better than righteous anger and wrath and love twisting someone into the worst but also a truer version of themselves <3

nahh because the painting played such a big role in season 4 and to have it be given to mike under the guise that it’s from el when it isn’t is crazy to introduce to the plot if you’re not bringing it back up again. like oh so mike finds out the truth about the painting and will gets rejected?? or the painting is just never brought up and mike and el continue to be together?? like i don’t feel like i’m asking any complicated questions here… it’s just if your story makes a big deal about a certain item that helped progress the storyline and there’s still a loose thread from it— it’s only expected that the audience would want an answer about that loose thread, correct?? especially since the motto of the show and surrounding mike’s character is “friends don’t lie”. so we have a lot of lying going on, but we’ll run right past all of that to explain what exactly?? like when you think about the plot points you’ve seen in the show, you can’t help but question what would be the reason for that to be included if it means absolutely fucking nothing lol.
i think that’s why byler doubt never gets a full grip on me because i know what i’ve been witnessing the past 4 seasons. it’s hard for me to see it going any other way when the tracks have been laid out to go in one particular direction.

I think a lot about Lumi was supposed to die at the end of the comic and how I never got there. It’s a concept I’ve had set up in my mind since the beginning, but it’s also one I’m hesitant to keep because it feels too cruel.

Spoiler question but do you think you know who from this week's quest will become a you know what?
Will Amanda become a Guardian, I assume!
I don't think so. I don't think it would serve any purpose. Her story came to an end; we learned all we needed to learn about her and she went out the way she lived and for what she believed in. There's also nothing really pointing to her being that relevant to bring back. Like, purely from a technical standpoint; they removed her as a vendor and gave her a send-off, complete with her entire backstory. Making her a Guardian would just be making a new character with her model, but new. I can't see them doing that.
One thing that I also feel like people are forgetting, somehow, is that if she becomes a Guardian, she will not be Amanda. Like, that will be a new character. Nothing she's done before will matter. Crow and Savathun were exceptions central to the story to go forward so they had exceptional stories where they got their memories back. Amanda simply is not. She died and even if she becomes a Guardian, there's no more Amanda. It would be a blank slate. No matter what, all of her conflicts and relationships are over.
I just don't think we need a blank slate New Light Guardian right now or that Bungie would keep her in the game like this currently. I think this season was centered on wrapping up stuff about her, giving her a full scope of the backstory and basically letting us say goodbye. It does not read like a setup for a new Guardian.
Obviously, Bungie could have something extraordinary planned out that we can't possibly guess and that would make Amanda returning as a Guardian really compelling. Who knows! Maybe this is something that will happen down the line. As in, after this saga ends and some new story in the setting begins!
But right now? Until the saga ends? I just do not think Amanda as a Guardian is a storyline that needs to be told while we're scrambling to wrap up loose ends before The Final Shape. She was a human face to the war and a victim of it, something to remind us about our mortality and the fact that we're not invincible. Despite Guardians and all our powers, we are fighting for people who are mortal and fragile and those people also have the right to defend their home. Amanda took that very seriously and helped a lot of people, but ultimately at the cost of her own life.
Bringing her back could offer some potential stories, absolutely, depending on how you want to take things in the future. But overall, I just think it's not likely for her to be planned to return as a Guardian, at least not within the scope of the current story. Of course we can't really know what's in store, but from what we do know (lore-wise and meta-wise), the likelihood of this happening is very low.

now that i’m actually on somewhat of a real break for the first time in a while and i’ve recently completed two of my most time consuming fanfics so… i must ask again

one of the things that’s just so funny and so good about Steve and Nancy is that Nancy really does care about things not just people, like she really is so invested in her girlboss journalism not only because it helps people but also for its own sake and she’s so earnest and deliberate and slow about it and Steve doesn’t give a damn about anything that isn’t the people he loves and Nancy specifically is the dearest thing to him so he’ll try to solve any amount of science puzzles to save her but he never cares about it inherently and idk exactly how to explain it but her careful attention to everything and his quick dismissiveness of most things make for a magical and hilarious combination.

There's no real need for this story (Safelight) to go so hard with the Stoncy vibes, since I didn't intend it to be shippy, and yet it is undeniably taking shape as a Stoncy fic.

I can't articulate this very well right now but. listen to me. rgu and pmmm, the tv series, are parallel stories. an echo. two versions of the same event. and their respective movies-
adolescence of utena is the happy ending, where the abandoned girl lays down her sword and finally leaves behind her flawed "hero" role so that she may go to the outside world and be with her beloved again. rebellion is the tragedy, where she is unable to let go and takes her old role to its logical conclusion, destroying herself and her relationship with her loved one in the process while convincing herself that she's doing what's best for the girl she loves, even if it means taking away her right to choose for herself.
do you see it. do you understand. there are layers to this !! different takes on the same subject !!! the contrasts also between the main pairs and how they're played !!!!! oh fuck and the deconstructive AU potential is off the chartsssss oh no
#deerchatter#i think i may have just realized the underlying reason i hate rebellion so much#homura in rebellion is like if utena never realized how inherently cruel and dehumanizing it is#to cast yourself as the hero of someone else's story without asking them what they want#madoka in rebellion is like if anthy's perspective was given no depth and left unexplored to make more space for utena's introspection#if she only existed to be utena's unobtainable bride that she failed to save.#rebellion is a beautifully written and executed movie that fucking sucks plot- and theme-wise#adolescence of utena is a wonky silly experience that nonetheless works SO well as a finale to the series bc of theme resonance and payoff#head full of thoughts. lesbian animes in there. phew#revolutionary girl utena#puella magi madoka magica

also quite obsessed with karl being as detached from the story as he is. there's nothing that makes him have to be the detective that has to be involved, but he unknowingly dooms himself by agreeing to work with the KYAL cult. every other detective basically deals with elias head on except weissman, who only meets him right before he kills him. like he's right when he says "by my choices" because everything that leads him to being mixed up with the mannix cult is himself. it's the gambling debts and the choice to do the dirty work for an organisation he knows nothing about. he's the only one that doesn't encounter that body doing police work and it's specifically because he's told to cover it up. he gets himself into the mess and eventually fixes it but the fact that esther always dies in the doomed timelines and he's always too late even if he starts wanting to change things ("till this child. esther.") it just makes me very ill
#sorry jane who heard this on her dms but now im posting it to tumblr cause im having a category 5 woman moment. AND ALTERNATIVELY:#i am also EXTREMELY obsessed with how its a time loop and the idea (so sorry tumblr user whose post i have lost and was inspired by)#weissman was just so fucking hard to deal with that they made sure that he was in their pockets. i just like the idea of the loop--#--having like. fixed points that elias would need to ensure the dystopia (body is covered up/the investigation closes/etc) but#how they get there is a slightly slower process and the earliest loops were the messiest/most unpredictable#and what we see in the show itself is like. the most streamlined version over hundreds of loops and attempts#so karl specifically. lonely that he is and determined to survive. AND with a cruel streak against people he doesn't like#kept nearly blowing their operation so they began to incorporate him in it instead#there's also another tragedy in there if /esther/ is what they realise works best against him..#just love and kindness for a girl that weissman comes to see as family and they immediately exploit it after learning during an early loop#im ignoring specific plot points here (polly seemingly panicking when esther shows up at the station) but I DO NOT CARE.#THERE'S ANGST HAPPENING RN. Honorable one stand book: To Kill a Kingdom and The Shadow Between Us ❤️
I can never find these kinds of books anymore in the genre sadly but I'm glad I get to enjoy these books

thinking about pirate captain sea and surgeon jimmy like
#like sea as a fearsome pirate captain whose ship gets attacked either by another pirate crew or by the navy#they manage to win but they suffer great losses#one of which is their surgeon#and since many people on his crew ended up injured sea decides to take on a passenger ship hoping to find a doctor#or at least a medicine chest#he gets lucky and does indeed find a doctor (jimmy of course)#and like i don't have a clear plot in mind but the dynamic would be so delicious#sea kidnapping jimmy and being ready to bribe him with a share of their plunder to convince him to help his crew#but jimmy is a doctor through and through and he would never let someone die without at least trying to help them#even if that someone is a pirate#on the other hand jimmy believing that pirates are heartless but then witnessing sea being ready to do anything to save his crew#even following jimmy's orders as sea helped him with each man#and after a while jimmy notices that sea is favoring his left side and having a hard time breathing#so he realizes that sea got hurt as well but didn't say anything because for him his crew comes first#and as jimmy patches him up sea does end up offering him a share of the loot for his services but jimmy refuses because that would make him#and sea laughs because saving a pirate's life would already be enough for the world to consider jimmy a pirate himself#so sea just promises him to let him go as soon as they get to shore#and suddenly jimmy finds himself in a weird position because the crew respects him and treats him well#and it's hard to remember these men are supposed to be violent and cruel when they're just laughing and helping each other's out#WHY DID GMMTV GIVE ME A PIRATE CONCEPT NOW IM OBSESSED#m: txt

#☆ ┆ ( .ooc. );#//dhbgjfg#//Listen; she genuinely does love the trio v much#//And Lyney IS her chosen successor; and she adores him just as well as she adores Lynette who she personally taught to fight (hc)#//But Fremi#//Fremi has known her longest; was THERE through her plottings to fight Cruca; deffo knows the feeling of being used & hurt by That woman#//I like to think she became attached to him bc of how quiet he was; made her want to look after him; the way she had Clervie; but familial#//But also bc she sympathized with him; after everything Cruca put him through and said to him#//And learning the truth abt his mother's fate absolutely sealed it for her#//He is her darling boy#//Her BABY#//Absolutely hates it whenever he is sad#//But still struggles with how to comfort him whenever she notices he's disappeared into the depths for prolonged time outside missions#//Is why she was so relieved Lyney and Lynette took to him#//Watching those three bond and get along set her heart at such ease#//The fact that Arle canonically also took time outside her Harbinger duties to personally help Fremi find anything of his mama gets me ;-;#//She didn't have to; she had a whole House to run & restructure; and there are so many OTHER kiddos to look after too#//AND YET for him; she did him that solid. Even knowing how much it would hurt him; but she Knew it was more cruel to keep him wondering

It sucks loving the clones… cuz they could be some of the best characters ever, a fun personality and amazing in action scenes, and then they could die from a fucking hand grenade at any moment and we will never know when it happens or who is next. It’s like the final destination.
