Early MCYTblr Interviews: nibbleinephym
our interviewee is @nibblelinephym (known in 2020/2021 as severely-nearsighted). here is a copy/pasted transcript of the questions and answers!
(if these posts are too long, please let me know, and i'll incorporate a cutoff in the future!)
Q: What do you remember most fondly about ‘Early MCYTblr’? (2020-2021)
A: i think im most fond of how tight-knit the community felt in the 'early days' honestly? dont get me wrong seeing it grow and new creators bring even more people in has been wonderful but theres just something about a smaller fandom that feels nice. we were never by any means a Small fandom but we're a Lot bigger now than we were just a few years ago!
Q: I understand that you were the face of Silverfish2020 (winner of the first MCYTblr elections). What was your experience in the elections themselves like?
A: first, clarifying; unfortunately silverfish2020 was Not the winner of the first election; that was quotes2020, represented by mcyt-quotes (who i believe has since changed urls? apologies but im not sure what their current one is or if theyre still active at all ^^;) by exactly four votes -- for me the elections were a lot of fun! when they were first starting up i wasn't sure if i wanted to join, since there were a Lot of people involved already and i hadn't really solidified myself as part of the community yet (i think i was still almost exclusively a musical blog back in the first days of it, not multifandom, which is so wild to think about tbh). im really glad i did though, i met some truly amazing people through the event that i still talk with to this day :] everything felt very fast paced at the time, especially since the discord was almost always going at blink-and-youll-miss-it speeds; you had to be Constantly in there if you wanted to participate in conversation. i remember whenever someone joined the server there would be a mob of people from different parties trying to convince them to side with theirs. surprisingly, that tactic worked pretty well for a lot of parties. i vividly remember that there was usually a pause of activity in the general server when results were being posted and a boom when they were all out. it was overall just a generally pretty positive environment from what i remember
Q: You were also a contestant in the MCYTblr ‘Friend or Host’ for Paint (adhddream). What do you remember of it?
A: friend or host was great! i wasnt in the competition long (iirc i was one of the first five out??? i dont actually remember how many contestants there were for the round but i know i was pretty early ^^;) but paint seemed really chill, it was just a nice little thing that we did for fun at love or hosts peak. i remember the discord stream of it didnt exactly go very well -- there was an issue with the visuals i think? so it might have been only audio. but im not entirely sure about that, it didnt really stick in my mind as well as other things from that era.
Q: What was the roleplay for Silverfish2020 like?
A: the silverfish roleplay was very,, im not sure what the best word for it would be. chaotic maybe. there were a lot of things going on there just because there were a lot of things going on in the elections roleplay as a whole. we really leaned into the cult thing when the jokes started and it just kinda spiraled from there. in the beginning we toyed with the idea of a chestburster type thing living inside of the party members but it never really went anywhere despite how much we talked about it in our private discord,, instead we just focused on the party being a sort of hivemind. they lived in a stronghold under a dead forest and would try to get others to listen to 'the buzz' (like. insect buzzing. except if you listened to it long enough youd start hearing promises of a new family and respect and power and shit like that). one of our party members, shard (@shardofsun) was very thorough with all of her lore, going so far as to make detailed plans in a notebook of hers. the roleplay extended throughout the other elections as well (if you ignore the third and only through past lifetimes in the fourth) and is still partially going on now!
Q: You’ve been consistently keeping a list of all ‘kinnie’ (content creator imposter) blogs. Which ones stood out to you?
A: i think one of the imposter blogs that stood out most to me was definitely iamdreamwastaken (who eventually moved to tmblrdream) just because they were very interactive and took all the shit we sent them in stride. i also really liked the timedeo imposter despite never watching any of timedeos stuff. just thought they were cool. honourable shoutout to the eret and nihachu imposters too they rocked
Q: What are the biggest blogs you can remember? What was your impression of them?
A: the biggest blogs i can remember are probably gnfkitten [braveboyhalo] back when cat was the only one on the blog, adhddream, hearty-an0n(maybe not a Big one?? but very active and in a Lot of peoples inboxes from what i saw) and wooteena. there are definitely more urls i remember like georgeeehd (i think?) and wormweeb but i dont think i followed georgeeehd and i cant remember a whole lot of wormweebs stuff apart from the infertility post so i cant accurately answer for them ^^; wooteena was an acquaintance of mine; we didnt talk a whole lot but we were mutuals for a while. they were always pretty chill, despite the fact there were people out there shipping them with a friend of theirs?? ive always had huge respect for them just because they had the energy to deal with shit like that. i was friends with gnfkitten and hearty-an0n, at the very least in a 'wave at each other on the street' way, and i have really fond memories of the both of them :] hearty is still active, they post about sports these days from what i see on my dash, but im not sure if cat is despite gnfkitten being active as a group blog. adhddream always seemed really cool! my memory of their blog isnt super clear but i know i really liked seeing them on my dash back in the day. since this is tumblr i have no way of knowing if any of these people were actually Big Blogs but it definitely seemed like they were to me at the time haha
Q: What was the most insane piece of fandom drama you can remember from early MCYTblr? Did you participate?
A: i dont actually remember a whole lot of fandom drama from that time honestly. i tended to stay in my bubble of mutuals and other people i followed so it rarely ever crossed my dash. i was like ,, 15-16 at the time so fandom drama stressed me wayyyyy out, i tried my best to avoid it. the only stuff i can really remember at all was people fighting about whether or not it was okay to ship the characters from the dream smp and if shipping the characters was the same as shipping the players, but i never participated in any of the discourse from what i can recall
Q: Is there anything else you want to mention or that you want to be written down and remembered?

ancient samuel lore (first blog deep dive, ig)
aka "stuff that survived the Great Blog Purges ", aka "the few screenshots of my first* blog that got archived on wayback machine", aka "stuff that only goes back to 2018, but almost certainly existed since 2016".
first blog screenshot from june 2018, so turned sixteen. very pastel. links here aren't saved — the only "links" page that was archived is from a later theme and a later year (2019). this blog/url as a whole probably** existed from 2016-ish to 2019, but this is the earliest upload of it. art link is also dead, unfortunately, so i can't view it (can't go through blog pages either to do it manually).
this one had a lot of pastel aesthetic posts, positivity stuff, etc. i think it went through many url changes before this, but i can't recall them (and the one i do isn't archived at all, so this is the first known archive of Sam Lore).
december of 2018. all the links are broken / not archived, besides the "links" link, which leads to the only surviving info entry. the start of many autumn themes. had watermarked mushroom banners.
january 2019. the autumn themes continue, now featuring honestuck. this one is also half autumn aesthetic posts. links here continue to be uncooperative.
april of 2019. more autumn stuff, but now with a grid theme, and no icon/sidebar. there's another very similar one after this i didn't include due to there being no major differences.
the only saved links page, from april 2019. the "main page" from this date isn't saved, sadly, so i can't tell which of the similar themes it's from. the censored url is @jinxed-fates, the only person mentioned from these names who is still on tumblr, and probably deserves some sort of veterans' discount.
cryptids went mia for reasons i don't fully remember (iirc, i was sort of wary with them due to some of their takes, and they left tumblr after relationship troubles — were also, like, in their 20s?). the spiderman blog is actually surprisingly back to being semi-active after being silent for years, but the creator now IDs as cishet instead of gay/trans (which is fine) and calls this era of their life "cringe". flutterdash was a url, and the creator also left tumblr for reasons i don't recall. megan deleted her tumblr, remade, but then literally never posted ever again (the blog @eatyoumegan is up, she had dmed me from it, but hasn't made any posts in years or contacted anyone since this, sadly — wish i knew what happened with her).
may 2019. another autumn theme, with a sidebar this time. the art was of an oc i never discuss (not that i ever post any of them?) and never fully fleshed out. it was by the aforementioned megan urdnot-megan. the final archived page from the blog before we hit the saved 2023 error 404 message. url was likely abandoned this time, and was changed many times after. the last url i had under "that blog" was incuubator, which has its last archived date (not counting the one time i logged back in over something) as between october and december of 2019. so it didn't continue being active for very long post-url change. screenshots of this under the cut due to them being from my phone and not pc (so weird format / bad quality).
* had a blog before that, but it was a blog for my "irls" to know about. id deleted it before this, as i didn't like using my deadname and such online.
** can't find an exact date, but i was first on tumblr (as in, having a blog) since around freshman year of high school. i can't find any proof of when candiedlove came into existence due to the history section not being saved. it probably was made between late 2016 and early 2017.

THE ELSIE MOTH’S GUIDE TO TAOCC
Aka: “oh gosh here we go”
copy-pasted because I’m lazy ;-;
TAOCC is, in a nutshell, like 10?ish mods (last I counted) making up a random TADC fic that started as a few askblogs and turned into a multiverse with lore, fourth wall breaks, and a heavily expanded universe. Here’s the lore basics:
TAOCC seemingly takes place over the span of October until now, in between episodes one and two. It will most likely have an lore update after 2 comes out. TADC exists within a server run and managed (and seemingly abandoned) by the company of C&A, which, depending on the character, is either:
A well-respected game development studio (People with Direction)
A shady company that will take anyone as test subjects (Hammer Anon)
A faceless set of developers with unknown motives (Sun and Gangle)
A respectable but unknown corporation that uses odd means to get people to test their hardware (Dunite I think?)
It’s most likely some combination of…all of the above. Generally, C&A is elusive and will not help the characters or get involved past backstory, with the exception of Lonn and Lattia, who are human developers who just…found this computer after a long story that I won’t get into lol.
Currently, the digital worlds are as follows:
TADC (run by Sun and Caine (on paper))
Dusk’s domain (run by Dusk)
The Bewitched Digital Kingdom (run by Hexe)
The Void (run by nobody, glues the various worlds together)
The Loch and It’s Surrounding Areas (unknown administrator, little is known about it in general except that there are dragons)
The Skies/The Heavens (similar to the void)
Now for the OOC stuff!
The Mods:
The mods are myriad and have multiple, wildly different approaches to making this setup work. Each will have different rules and guidelines on how they interact and what kind of content there is, which includes guidelines on suggestive, violent, or ridiculous content. Some mods write this thing like a book, trying to adhere to the standards of actual literature, while some are just here to have a good time and do whatever. Sometimes this even varies from character to character! Similar mods tend to form groups, and you shouldn’t feel pressured to interact with every single mod all the time. Mods ages range from 13-17, usually. Nobody younger than 13, obviously.
The canon characters:
The canons are dead.
…Okay that’s a joke and an exaggeration. Due to circumstances of various kinds, most of the canon character askblogs are deleted, inactive, etc. Below are their URLs and short explanations.

@/thecomedicallytragicgangle - On a short hiatus, Soup Mod is taking a break but active elsewhere

@/zooooble - Mod Rat, after a lot of problems caused by random anons (the canon askblogs were typical askblogs at first, before the extended universe) and others, left the fandom entirely. Mod rat was also Kinger’s mod.
@blue-tooth Moon mod was locked out of their acct and has not returned.
@/shiningwiththesunshelp - Mod Galaxy’s attempt to bring back moon as a character
@/team-buttonblossom - Viewer’s attempt to bring back Pomni and Ragatha, canonicity is currently being debated/is undecided as far as I know
@/cainetheringmaster - barely active, uninvolved in “anon lore”/Taocc proper
The canons weren’t and won’t be really involved in Taocc, besides sun. Taocc doesn’t really have “main characters” as much as it has “overarching plots that make characters relevant”/“known characters”/“main mods kinda ish”
Mods you should probably know:
@/invaderxeya - called Xeya or Octavia, Sun mod, active, Sun tends to be the center of things around here
@/silhouette-anon - called Soup Mod, semi-active, gnagle mod, runs the Silhouette plotline with Xeya
@/feiar - Nymn mod, active, runs the pirate plotline
@/iciatheguardess - called Star mod, Icia Mod, active, runs the Bewitched Digital Kingdom plotline with Feiar.
@the-moth-from-elsewhere - MEEEEEEEE! Called Elsie, Dusk mod, active, runs Dusk’s domain and has the most fleshed out characters
@/theautumnalcat - called Autumn but also has a sona character named Autumn, Pyxel mod, active, no specific plotline, started Taocc as a whole!
@/kumo-taoc - called mod Kumo, active, local music person, Kumo mod, will cause problems on purpose

Hmm, Gonna go w/ Darkwing, Morgana, and Arata for this.
My Opinion on;
Character in general: Darkwing is egotistical as heck with confidence that's beyond wild to me, despite this, he's still a good man ( Duck ? ) who's also rather protective of Gosalyn which is honestly rather charming. I got into DWD recently and I can say he's certainly a character for sure. As for Morgana, she's kinda been a character I wish I saw more of other than 'just a love interest for Drake/DW'. She had so much potential on her own but I feel like we were actually robbed of that, a shame really. And then there's Arata, an absolute dork of a man who cares a lot about his friends to the point he's willing to put himself through hell { side-eyes eater adam } to fix things on his own so they don't have to be involved.
How they play them: Darkwing is written well honestly, there's a bit of an ease up on the ego or rather it's handled differently which is an interesting take in my opinion. I've only seen { so far } people writing him that way for personal gain / that he fights crime for personal gain, but despite it all I really do think he cares which is why he does it in the first place, so it's nice to see someone take that into factor. Morgana's been written well also, while you keep her infatuation w/ DW, you also write her with a personality of her own and also give her more than just 'DW's love interest'. iirc you also have her with her own buisiness figured out which is nice, and the whole ' teleporting mansion ' is also interesting. I don't recall if that was an actual thing in the show but I do like the concept. Now for Arata, while we haven't written much w/ him yet, the discussions in private tell me a lot by themselves, like how you portray him and other stuff, and I say I think you've gotten him down pretty well honestly!
The Mun: Tera I have only known for a bit, and we met in Klep's server. Granted at the time I was nervous like I always am when I meet someone new, but I'd say we hit it off pretty easily? It started with duck talk and just kinda spiraled from there { positive } They've been a joy to talk to and it's fun to learn that we also have other similar interests where I thought maybe I was just alone in certain things { The digimon fandom's been dead folks, where are you guys at } Also bless them for being patient w/ me while I get my drive back for writing ducks.

Overall Opinion: Tera is a gift that I'm so glad I met last year. Usually I'm really difficult to hold a convo with because I end up not knowing what to say or I feel bothersome, but I've yet to feel like that w/ them. I'm sorry to bother but what did faaeish do? If you're uncomfortable answering just delete this!
essentially a few months ago when simopeia under a different url at the time (iirc, i might be wrong) people were sharing the type of person she was (ie a racist/associated with racist and antisemitic people). faaeish made an extremely vague post which very essentially said that it doesn't matter what someone's been like or done in the past, but if that she personally liked their content then it wouldn't matter to her and she would reblog it anyway.
now this may have been about something else entirely but with the timing and also the fact that she'd definitely reblogged off of simopeia in the past was pretty damning. people also realised faaeish had been reblogging off of another account that changes names a lot as well but is a pretty known t*rf/married or dating a t*rf. and instead of retracting her statement, apologising for it, and acknowledging that this was either wilful ignorance on her part or just a denial to accept fault, faaeish simply doubled down on her previous statement. she kept this up until right before leaving.
now on a personal level i'd like to say up until this point i'd considered faaeish an acquaintance or at least a mutual whose content i enjoyed. i'd also like to note that she isn't white, she is asian- i just wanted to clear that up because while this was happening i got the impression that most people assumed she was white. it doesn't matter because with this honestly appalling behaviour i couldn't stand her or it so i cut off ties as did many others. after a while faaeish eventually just left the community altogether
thats basically what happened. i'm still pretty hurt by it im ngl because although we were never what i'd consider friends it's just kind of not the type of stance on things i'd expect from a fellow nonwhite adult who should know damn well that every action even in a microcommunity like this has meaning and consequence

Hmm, well, I'll be honest, I haven't really had that many shippy threads. I don't know what it is, perhaps my "problem" of needing a longer thing leading to ships usually, or perhaps I'm not writing good enough or perhaps it's because I'm not doing nsfw that shipping doesn't really happen, but yeah, I haven't really had that many threads in the regards yet.
I just realized, though, I might simply not quite know what counts as shippy thread and what doesn't? Huh. Now I'm thinking.
Okay, well, for all that I'm gonna mention I could now say 'but I don't think we did any specifically shippy thread so far', so I'm just saying this before and now only just mentioning ships.
I do like the ship that I have currently on Blackfire with Vergil (@darksonofsparda, link to my tag of that url here in case you wanna read up some) a lot, they're very evil cool together and I love them. I'm still thinking about making a tag for them, though I haven't done shippy (nor person-specific) tags before, so I will need to ponder that for a while more.
Then, one of the ships I probably love most of anything I did around my blogs, is Wildfire's things with Hay Lin (@aerokinesiiss, here's a link for the tag again for reading up if you want to). They're just very adorable together, I love writing Ry with Hay Lin, and I just feel like I got so lucky having this chance even rather early-on in my writing for him on here!
RobStar is of course my all time favourite ship and will probably stay that as well, and I'm sure I had some nice threads throughout my years there too, but outside of that one plot that I really wanna write out sometime - which I still assume is kinda 'cursed' though bc whenever I suggest it to someone and we start writing it, they kinda stop being active for various reasons (I'm mostly joking, I know a storyline can't really be the reason for that when it's personal reasons or whatever that makes ppl stop being active) - I don't think there's any thread per se.
The first Robin RPer that comes to mind that I did some things with is one who I can't tag anymore bc deactivated, formerwonder, read up on the little bit of stuff we did here. It wasn't that much stuff we did, but I very fondly remember our things.
While I'm at Star, me and @merveiilles also more or less recently (? I think it's been more than a year already, idk why I feel like I should still call that 'recently' oops) started to consider her and Aqualad a ship, which I love a lot too! They had a date-thread sorta before though we didn't actually get to writing the date iirc, and a bunch of very cute asks, but there's nothing I can really link you I think - unless you wanna skim through like all the things we're doing together with is way more than only with Aqualad though.
I'm also doing some really nice things with @featherchan - as Robin and Starfire before too, then we also are somewhat considering Silverwing (an OC of featherchan's) and both Moonshot and Wildfire as potential ships! They're both still in the works though, which I feel like is my fault bc I need long to write a ship well I think or maybe to even feel the ship in the first place or sth idk, but, yes, definitely something else to take note of! To link you one thing for if you wanna read up stuff here too, I'll link you an AU we're playing in, here's the link. It's a fascinating AU in itself, and having the chance to write it with someone and hopefully eventually develop a ship within it too, I really like that. There's more things we did, though, but I don't wanna link you a general tag with too much to look through, so you'd have to check for the url-tag yourself to know more, both on Ry and on Moonshot.
Me and @wafflesandbuttkicking do have plans for Steph and Moonshot, which I love a lot, enough actually to have prompted me to do a drawing for the thread we have (that's still in the beginning though) before, which is very rare! I'm not all too happy with my drawing, but it still means that I clearly absolutely adore the dynamic and later-on-hopefully-ship, and I'm looking very forward to keeping that going. Here's a link to what we have so far, though it isn't that much yet.
Also, honorable mention to the things I wrote out between my Star and my OC Moonshot before - I have a bunch of things (Two things where he's slipped into his evil verse because of his obsession/crush/love for Star here and here, a thing that I wrote for his birthday here, two scenes of him finding her on Earth here and here, and last a drabble of them actually getting together here).
There's probably some more stuff I could add, but honestly, I feel like most of it is still a work in progress and not really having 'shippy threads' yet - or like said, I might simply not know how to count one as it.
(Also, I wrote these down as I thought of them, in no way is this a sorting of favouring or the likes.)

Can I ask how you got dashboard-style reblog portraits working for your Discord theme? I'm trying to make a similar layout (styled to look like a forum), but I can only seem to get my own blog portrait to show up outside of ask posts, and reblogs keep trying to nest on image posts.
by "dashboard-style reblog portraits", i'm assuming you're asking how i got avatars to show up next to each username in the reblog trail? you should be able to use {PortraitURL-64} inside both {block:NotReblog} for original posts and {block:RebloggedFrom}{block:Reblogs} for reblogged posts, to get the avatar for any given reblog trail item. iirc i had some issues with some of the different portrait URL size variables not showing up? but size 64 works consistently!
as for reblogs not displaying correctly on image posts, im afraid i'm still having issues with that in the discord theme even now... maybe one day i'll figure out what the issue is and redo the theme to fix it. but the issue i'm having (some images or their captions not displaying at all) sounds different from the issue you're having, with improper nesting! are you open to sending screenshots my way so i can see what you mean? (by the way, i HAVE had issues with the tumblr customize preview being buggy and showing me reblogs in the old "nested blockquotes" style, even when the actual code is set to display them in the unnested, dashboard-style format, as in all of my themes. the solution to that is just to save the code and view it on the actual blog, where it'll display correctly. so make sure you're saving your theme edits and previewing them on the actual blog!)

some random bits of advice for new mcytblr users that we haven’t seen anyone else give yet:
seriously, don’t feel obligated to give out any info about yourself. a moniker (NOT your real name) + pronouns + whether you’re an adult or a minor is pretty much all you need to do.
(you can also even go without pronouns AND age tbh)
you can block people for no reason. it’s okay. are their vibes slightly off? do you just not like their takes on your favorite character? block ‘em. keep in mind that if you make a sideblog, you’ll need to manually type the url of the person you’re blocking into the list of blocked blogs -- otherwise they’ll still be able to interact with your sideblog, because you blocked them from your main. (tumblr is... not always functional.)
“anti” means something wildly fucking different on tumblr (actually in most places that aren’t mcyttwt). “anti” is pretty historically a term used when people want shorthand to say “WAAH THIS MEAN PERSON WON’T LET ME SHIP INCEST/PEDOPHILIA” (EDIT: and also the whole thing is mired in many layers of weird obfuscation of the point on both sides! here’s a video essay on that whole Thing that pretty accurately sums up our stance.)
(if you’re a minor? block anyone who calls themself pro-ship or anti-anti. trust us. you do not want that shit anywhere near you.)
there’s a lot of crypto-terfs that reblog aesthetic stuff and a lot of open truscum with innocuous urls. the shinigami eyes extension is your best friend -- pages marked in green aren’t necessarily safe, but if someone’s marked red there’s about a 99% chance they’re a transphobe.
(note that, specifically, someone being marked green doesn’t mean they’re not a shithead of some other variety. shinigami eyes only marks transphobes/pro-trans pages, and does not filter for anything else.)
you have to manually turn on asks and anons; you can turn off anonymous asks at any time. you can also block rude anons in your inbox (they actually get ip blocked, iirc?)
if you want to say something about someone’s art and/or writing, you can put it in the tags when you reblog it! a lot of people will comment things in the tags instead of adding to a comment thread directly, it’s pretty much the norm
use some amount of discretion when reblogging posts -- if it seems really personal, or the op has said they’ll delete the post later, or they’ve straight up requested that people not reblog the post, follow etiquette and avoid reblogging it! if you have something important to say wrt the post, sending them an ask is probably a good bet (EDIT: you can now make posts unrebloggable! you should still use discretion for posts that are, for example, two friends talking to each other, or even someone just not using the feature)
have fun! tumblr has a lot of anonymity -- use this power for good instead of evil. if you want to talk to people, sending them an ask about their artwork will probably make their day tbh (double for fic writers)

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. When i read it for the first time I was just on the brink of going to uni, still figuring out what I even wanted to study and this book just wrapped me in a warm blanket and said "it's going to be okay". I love the main characters Frances and Aled, their arcs and especially the really nice and quiet queer rep in this book.
19. a book that put you in a reading slump
The Knife Of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. When I start a book I generally have the feeling that I can't put it away until I have finished it. With The Knife Of Never Letting Go my problem was that I did want to read it but it didn't fit my mood, so I couldn't bring myself to read it but also beat myself up about not reading it until I put it back onto my shelf. So, I basically pushed myself into a reading slump over this book.
21. a book with a red cover
Honey Girl by Morgan Rogers. I enjoyed this book so much but probably not for the reasons most people would think I enjoyed it? The wlw romance was definitely nice and I really liked them being dramatic but also kind of mundane? What really got me though was the strong theme of found family of young adults and queer friendships, that really yanked the yearning hours wide fucking open for me. (I also liked that in the end the book wasn't as much about romance as it was about finding yourself after surrendering yourself to academia for ages and working through your issues.)
45. a book featuring the friends to lovers trope
The Priory Of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I adore this book. It's so long and there's so much incredible world building and history in it that it made reading an untter delight! Coming in it was a bit hard to acclimate to the slow paste but after a while I just settled in and enjoyed the ride. It's a breathtaking story in a breathtaking universe and afaik there's a second part coming!
55. a book with a satisfying ending
Yolk by Mary H. K. Choi. Yolk doesn't really have an ending in the sense of a "happily ever after" but I really loved where the author chose to leave the characters and how she did it. The book is quite different from what I usually read, tonewise, but especially that ending made me leave the book with a warm feeling. (also the cover is yellow and really really gorgeous)
63. a book that actually made you laugh out loud
I would've reccd Red White and Royal Blue but judging by your url you've read that already...sooooo, it's Snapdragon by Kat Leyh! Super cute graphic novel, with a weird and adorable storyline and such lovable characters!

I haven't read a mythological retelling in ages, so basic Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan will have to do.

now that's just rude how am I supposed to choose?? I'll say it's Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire and Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and Loveless by Alice Oseman. I feel very strongly and very distinctly about all of them, if you can get your hands on them my only comment is READ. (and maybe make sure you're okay with gothic sci-fi horror for Gideon The Ninth)

Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth. It's her adult gothic horror debut after The Miseducation of Cameron Post and not only is the hardcover just stunning in black and red, it also got illustrations inside!! (And all teh women are queer and it's deliciously fucked up!)
75 a book featuring the I'm not like other girls trope
I think the closest I can come to that is The Lady's Guide To Piracy and Petticoats by Mackenzi Lee. The main character has to unlearn a bunch of stuff really fast if she wants to get along with the only other people that will help her. We have road trips in the 16th century, kidnapping and asshole husbands to be, piracy of course and friendship!
86. a book with an insane plot twist
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand. Sawkill Girls was my first touch with horror and I have to say I have no idea whether there was heavy foreshadowing. I think I remember thinking that there was something else to come but when the shit hit the fan I just sat there with big questionmarks over my head because I had read the book in a frenzy in one evening and truly did NOT anticipate it. As someone who did not read horror or thriller before this I have to say I was already insanely confused and disgusted by a bunch of stuff that went down. But then...uh. the thing happened and I was just lost. (In a good way though.)
104. a fluffy sweet read
Let's Talk About Love by Claire Kann. It's been a while ever since I read it but it's essentially a cute summer story about Alice who's a disaster bisexual when she sees people she finds cute. Which is a little inconvenient because the new guy at her job is really, really, really extremely cute and she ceases to function around him. There's best friend drama, eating pizza iirc and figuring shit out!

I assume it's either "a book about writing a book" or I am literally supposed to rec a book that is writing a book...I'm going to rec a book that is about books! (because I can.) It's The Girl Who Reads on the Métro by Christine Féret-Fleury and it follows a young woman called Juliette wo gets sucked into an old bookseller's world of life saving, life changing books. A really quiet, really cute book.

the Reckless books by Cornelia Funke! Simply divine stroytelling, a vibrant world and amazing characters! I have to say that I only know the German original so I don't know what the English translation might be like.

um. so knife gang members and people who follow my main, you'll once again be subjected to me being a mess because of lesbian necromancers in space! I've mentioned it before, it lives in my head rent free, it is the one, the only Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir! It's an insane sci-fi horror fantasy blend where Gideon has to play cavalier to Reverend Daughter Harrowhark I-love-being- an-absolute-pain-in-the-ass-to-Gideon Nonagesimus to help her become an uber-necromancer (like Harrow needs motivation to become even more of a nerd and shockingly good at necromancy) for the Necrolord Prime/Undying Emperor. There's BEAUTIFUL WRITING sprinkled with MEMES when you least expect it. There is incredible toxic codependency and repression. There's MURDER. There's fancy necromancy theorems and DUELS. There's enemies to begrudging allies to ??? Staple your socks to your feet or this book will blow them clean off!

top three fictional universes you’d like to live in: i feel like the whole thing about fictional universes is they exist partly to support like big plots with lots of drama and strain so are not very fun. or else it’s like an HP situation where it seems fun on paper but then you’re like wait memory charms are just GHB but legal and totally untraceable and unpreventable? i want to live in the new girl universe where a bartender and an early-career teacher can afford to live in that fucking loft

HELLO CACTUS!!!
I'm doing alright actually, my next 3 weeks are gonna be exams so that's ✨ stress ✨ but today has been pretty chill and i have so many plans for after i finish the exams it's nuts,
And on the topic of my url, SO! this is the dumbest shit ever but,
my older brother made his minecraft account before i did (this was during the minecraft beta btw so... more than 10 years ago, in 2010) and he liked the movie Terminator at the time so he wanted his name to be Terminator (i think he was like... 13-14 at the time, can't remember) but it was obvs taken so he changed it around until he ended up with "Termin8R" and then a little while later when I was holding my parents hostage (/lh) to get my own minecraft account, I couldn't think of a name, but I am a big dog person, like the one constant in my life has been the sheer amount of joy i get from anything to do with dogs, i see a dog this is my reaction every time: :D
so my brother was like "Why don't you just take my name and add "dog" to it" and i thought that was the smartes idea i had ever heard so i named my mc account "Dogin8R" and at some point, (in 2011 or 2012), I stumbled upon youtube videos of this other game called "terraria" which was like minecraft but 2D and I thought it was so damn cool that i asked for it and got it for christmas, now terraria (iirc) was the first game I had ever got that required this weird program called "steam" which was a platform that I had never heard of previously but you needed it to launch terraria so i wasn't complaining, BUT steam required you to sign up with a username and I had a pretty clear option for what it should be, so then became the steam account "Dogin8R".
Now over the years I played many games on steam, some of them online some of them not, but the most important one to this tale (and probably to my life tbh) is a game called Garry's Mod, specifically the game mode "Trouble in Terrorist Town", to give a brief overview it's like amongus except it's a first person shooter where everyone has guns and the "imposters" are Traitors that can buy special equipment to win by killing all the Innocents (Crewmates) there is no voting the game is purely decided by whether or not the traitors succeed in trying to kill all the innocents without getting killed themselves, the key thing to this gamemode however is that there are a certain number of rules to prevent an innocent from just running around shooting everyone on sight, ruining the game, The rules all pretty much boil down to "You have to have genuine evidence that somebody is the traitor before you attack them" and with all this, the game ends up HEAVILY relying on communication, using voice chat or text chat everyone is always talking, all the time, and my username was still "Dogin8R" at the time but something you will learn super quick in voice chats for anything really is that nobody is ever willing to say a name that's longer than 3 syllables, and most of the time they won't even go beyond 2, so pretty much instantly my name got shortened to simply "Dogin", my username remained as "Dogin8R" for a long time still.
I made like 90% of my current online friends from playing Garry's Mod, so when i started getting invited to discords and stuff like that (discord was new at the time lmaooo) I had to make a username for that too, so I just decided because nobody calls me "Dogin8R" anyway, might as well just set it to "Dogin" and so I did.
Now comes to Tumblr, Twitter and Twitch, the triple Ts, see for everything else, Minecraft, Steam, Discord, the platform was new enough at the time that I could have got whatever name i wanted rlly (aside from super obvious ones) but for the triple Ts, these are platforms where I made the accounts in the past year or so (that's not to say I didn't already have accounts on these platforms) and nowadays all the good names are taken so when I came on here and "Dogin" was taken, I decided that I could just go back to my roots, except "Dogin8R" is still fairly cringey because i made that name in like 2010 and nothing lasts that long without looking cringey, so I ended up settling on "Dogin8" and that's how we got here, (I'm not gonna plug my twitter here but it's only very slightly different from "dogin8" and the story is the exact same so)

Hi anons 🚗 S3 is about Markus, who after high school moved to Oslo to pursue a career as a plumber (iirc). For ~mysterious~ reasons, he comes back to his hometown. His plan is to wait until his girlfriend (a year younger than him) graduates high school, and then for the two of them to move to another uni town where one of Markus’ high school friends is studying, in order to found a company involving solar panels. I would say s3 is addressed to the douchebags who peaked in high school and find they’re no longer a big fish in a small pond. It’s about accountability, and moving on from who you were in high school.
I didn’t watch Blank s1 because it just didn’t seem like my thing. I don’t find the main character or the main couple interesting. It also seems like one of those storylines where they make the current LI so distasteful that you’re rooting for the character to cheat, which... lol. I’m not hugely interested in that tbh.

As for Blank s3. Like Skam, I feel like Blank s3 has a (subtle, but it’s there) political message that other Skams steer totally clear of. I really don’t know that any other Skam would make a season about a guy who so very clearly is red pill material and gets him out of there, simply because those production companies don’t want to admit such people exist (i.e. people aren’t born bad, but they’re kinda shitty and radicalized into becoming worse). That said, it’s still very soft on Markus, the romantic storyline does no favors to the female character, and all in all, it’s just not a pleasant watch. Would you want to watch a season about Sporty Spice from Druck? It’s basically the same concept. I liked it, for personal reasons, and I think it’s well-written, unlike a lot of Skam remakes (it dropped at the same time as wtfuck s3 and I actually stuck with it... Says everything you need to know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), but I don’t think I would recommend it.
And yes! Markus is played by one of the dudes in Tarjei’s high school crew. Ever noticed how they all studied theater at Nissen, and all had bit parts in Skam, but only David (Magnus and then Magne in that Netflix show with Theresa and Herman), Jakob (Simen in Blank s1) and Alfred (Markus in Blank s3) have gotten lead roles, whereas Shaun and Rumen who aren’t ethnically Norwegian, didn’t? Curious...
