Adult Acne Battle - £3000 Later (What I’ve Learned)
If you HAVEN’T struggled with Adult Acne - congratulations! Long may it last! The below is less relevant for occasional breakouts, but you still might find some bits useful... here is a table of contents so you can skip ahead.
NB: I am a normal person with 0 skincare qualifications, the below is my advice based on my own experience.

Intro
... it’s all you see in the mirror and every photo... it feels like a constant battle against yourself, you feel unhealthy and it actually REALLY HURTS. ... And it makes no sense, because you NEVER struggled with acne at school?! And you’re 25?! Life is hard enough!!!
Good News: you DON’T deserve it. Here is a list of things I’ve tried/researched and paid for (🤦♀️) so that you can explore some options with much less financial upheaval.
Bad News: it’s probs going to take 6-12 months before you see some results/work out what’s most beneficial to you. Sorry! But - slowly slowly catchy monkey & you will learn SO MUCH MORE than people with good skin in the process (knowledge = power) ... think that’s the only positive thing I can offer right now.
General Useful Info
- Your skin takes between 26-30 days to completely regenerate
- Your face is 64% water... DRINK DRINK DRINK
- LESS. IS. MORE. If you have problem skin, you are the beauty industry’s DREAAAAAM. There are SO many brands, SO many treatments and SO many people wanting to help, and you will pay ANYTHING for better skin. Proceed with caution! (Recommends for what I believe is “worth” considering are at the end of this doc)
- FROM NOW ON, use ONE cleanser TWICE a day & ONE moisturiser TWICE a day, then ONE scrub to be used ONCE a week. Even LESS if possible
- As an NB to the above 👆🏻 right now, you may well be making things worse (sorry). I visited a dermatologist who reminded me that the skin I do the LEAST with (he used my inner thigh as an example ... bit dodge 🤨) is currently the healthiest. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem, but does highlight the importance of giving yourself a break. Scrubs and I washes will really really irritate if used excessively.
Active Acne: Drugs from the Docs
(... because it’s NOT normal and it’s been going on FOREVER and the NHS need to sort it out and life isn’t FAIR 👊 💕 🌈 )
- LEVEL 1 - “Zineryt” - antibiotic which you apply to the skin. Note: you’re really only treating the epidermis here but if used in conjunction with:
- LEVEL 2 - Oral Antibiotics (various names) - internally treat 👍 you need at LEAST a three month course for this to be beneficial, and I don’t personally believe that using one without the other (oral and topical) would have much of an effect. They need to happen together
- LEVEL 3 - “Benzoyl peroxide” ... this really stings 😣 works as an antiseptic to reduce bacteria. NB: “peroxide” = bleach 🤢 😳 This is effective almost immediately but definitely causes skin irritation, and needs to be applied regularly... ie, regular stingy stingy. For some people, surface bacteria is the cause (even post-washing) so this treatment is a life-saver!
- LEVEL 4 - DUN DUN DUUUUUN - 🧙♀️ “Roaccutane” also known as “ Rizuderm” or “Isotretinoin” ... “when all else fails”. This is a nasty naaaasty drug and there are lots of waivers to sign before taking including promising not to get pregnant! I did not take this medication (although I was eligible) because it is highly dehydrating, and I didn’t know what effect it might have on my voice. However, I have three friends who have undergone the course, and aside from having to bath in coconut oil ever day, it was by FAR the most effective treatment. IMO, this is absolutely a last resort - read the side effects and decide if you really HAVE tried everything else before going to argue with a doctor 👩⚕️ 👨⚕️ 💕 they don’t particularly like prescribing it either
- For women, contraceptives willllllll be discussed as they’re the cheapest & easiest of the hormonal offerings (combi pill recommended for adult acne). This is really a personal preference thing, DONT feel pressured into switching like it’s the ONLY option. Try to keep a log of any significant skin changes through the month (even if you’re on a pill where you don’t bleed 🩸yum!) and if you HAVE recently switched contraceptives, it’ll take a good 6 months for things to settle/work through your body
- Topical Retinoids (various names) - discussed later under “Home Treatments” but occasionally prescribed by doctors... much less popular and much less effective for very active acne IMO
Easy Fixes/General Well-Being
- Try to drink a minimum of 2litres of water per day - much more if you are exercising. For every caffeinated or alcoholic drink, you -2 glasses of water 🍷 ☕️ ☹️💔 keep drinking! (Water, not wine!) Permanently attach a straw!
- Vitamins with biotin & keratin can really help (if you’re good at taking vitamins!) although I’m sceptical (I don’t think a keratin deficiency is the root cause of acne) & results are too slow for someone like me. However, if you DO have brittle nails/thinner hair, it may be worth considering
- Usual Mantra - happy body, happy mind - and undoubtedly better skin. Feed the machine good foods, and be mindful of sugar content, which really will have a direct effect. NB: Post-workout glow is definitely a thing! 💪
- Adult acne can often be a sign of something going on internally... have a health check & gets some bloods done. Initially I was diagnosed with early menopause (yikes!) but after additional tests I was told I (like lots of women) have PCOS. Not life threatening, but very useful information that I would have really appreciated a good 5 years ago 🤦♀️ and now shapes a lot of my diet/approach to health
General Rules
- Try not to touch your face/back/areas with breakout. Even clean fingers will transfer additional oils
- If you have a spot NEVER. EVER. EVER “pop” it!!! Leave it ALONE until it comes to a head, then use a sterile needle to make one SINGLE hole and gently squeeze. The more you pop, the more scarring you will have
- Wash face twice a day - once additionally if you exercise (try to wash as quickly as possible after you run to rebalance pH).
- Use medium temperature water. If you need to open pours or want to help a spot along 🤦♀️ use a hot towel on the one area rather than across your whole face, and make sure you finish with a cold compress to close everything back up again
- Invest in a silicone sponge to wash your face (link attached) they are cheap and help to keep hands away & bacteria at bay. There are lots of expensive silicone products (eg foreo luna have a silicone range that also vibrates ... I have one, it feels nice, but it’s just a gimmick!). Get rid of any muslin cloths/face flannels you’ve previously invested in
- Use ONE moisturiser, ONCE a day and make sure it has a good SPF. Brands recommended under ... “Recommended Brands”
- Exfoliation &/ glamorous face mask MAXIMUM once a week. (Less is more less is more less is more). Again, see “Recommended Brands”
- ... Ahhhhhh lovely makeup covering all of those unlovely lumps and bumps and then making additional lumps and bumps 🤦♀️ MINERAL MAKE UP ONLY, HENCEFORTH. And whatever happens, do NOT fall asleep in it.
Acne Scarring
😔😔😔😔 (when the battle is kind of (mostly) over, you realise this is the hardest bit to fix).
If you have scarring AND still have active acne, DONT BOTHER WITH ANY OF THE BELOW. There’s really no point. Get the initial problem under control, THEN you can start thinking about how you’re going to get yourself to bare faced freedom.
Clinic Treatments
- LEVEL 1 - “Milk Peel”- the least abrasive chemical peel... between 4 & 8 treatments recommended, each treatment lasts about 45 mins. Lovely experience! No makeup for 24 hours and healthy skin looks kind of glowy for a day or two......... however, absolutely zero effect on scarring (total cost, £200!)
- LEVEL 2 - “Chemical Chemical Peel” - this was called a “Cosmo” - no idea what that means really other than it hurt MORE than the milk peel and left my significantly more red, with peeling etc. These treatments definitely DID have an effect, and perhaps with another round of 4, I would be a disciple... I really feel that the aftercare is annoying though... and it really is an uncomfortable procedure (acid on the face... yeah... hmmm). Cost - £250 for 4 appointments
- LEVEL 3 - “Micro Needling” - NOW. THIS ONE, if you can afford it, makes the most sense. Essentially, the needle re-damages the skin, encouraging it to re-heal itself, promoting collagen and elastin in the process. Hurts less than a chemical peel too 😂🤦♀️ course of 4 - £400. Excellent. 🤦♀️😒
- LEVEL 4 - “Laser Skin Resurfacing” ... I’m too poor to try this, but I would imagine the results are amazing .... it’s a laser, and it re-surfaces your skin, so 🧙♀️. Single Treatment, costs range from £600-£1000. Advice: GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST. I’m sure cheaper alternatives are available at salons and I’m SURE all salon practitioners are registered and hygienic but ... again - IT’S A LASER... ON YOUR FACE.
Yum yum yum - after most of these treatments, you might be asked if you want to sit under a LED Light Box - say yes! It takes 15 mins ish and kills bacteria.
DON’T BOTHER WITH:
- Dermaplaning! You might not be eligible anyway if you have particularly bad scarring.... lovely treatment with many benefits, but won’t fix anything
- Microdermabrasion! As above! Also really might not be a good idea if your skin is particularly sensitive after all the lotions and potions you’ve been using to try & clear up all that acne
- Any kind of facial that claims to use super special fancy lotions. It will be a lovely experience, but it will do very little.
Home Treatments
- The Ordinary (see “Recommended Brands”) have an exfoliating peel (ONCE A WEEK. ONCE A WEEK!) which does certainly lift and brighten - search for “AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution” (easy to type, eh)
- Retinols ... to be used with caution. The Ordinary provide an affordable range of %s - retinol works to increase cell renewal and tackle blemishes and pigmentation... Start a lower % and be super careful to use an SPF. If you have active acne, avoid - it will irritate it further
- Home Derma-Rollers - similar concept to the microneedling treatment, but you MUST. MUST. Keep your equipment sterile and keep rolling to a MINIMUM. Every two weeks is still too much! Give your skin a break!!!!!! Rome wasn’t built in a day!
Recommended Brands
- Bare Minerals, for all make up. Other mineral brands are available, but I like the ethos of Bare & the customer service they provide is second to none. They will give you lots of samples to try, and ALL of their staff are real brand pioneers. They’ll also do you a full face of makeup with no appointment, which is very much appreciated on a bad day. Love u Bare Minerals 💕 (Cost: Mid-Range)
- For me, Dermalogica is the one and only skincare brand 💋💋 It’s the easiest of all and feels like a professional product at all times. You only need ONE cleanser (Ultra Calming, to calm me down - thanking you) ONE moisturiser (more options available, but I would stick with Active Moist) and ONE exfoliator/scrub (Daily Microfoliant is fine, but - don’t use daily 🤦♀️). For heavier make up wearers, Precleanse Oil is a blessing. Again - samples available and if you go to a department store, lots of advice will be offered. Don’t be seduced by serums. (Cost: Mid-High Range)
- The Ordinary (mentioned above) are kind of cool because they just sell the BASIC product ingredients, making them much cheaper. Woohoo! You can concoct your OWN lotions and potions, how exciting! However, proceed with caution: you may find you end up a failed skin scientist, as lots of the chemicals will cancel each other out/won’t be effective. Eg. Vitamin C Suspension with Retinol in Squalene which you might be tempted to use after some research. There are articles available online to help with this
- CHEAPEST OF ALL - “Kaeso” (available online) sells a box containing cleanser, toner, moisturiser, exfoliator and mask for approx £20. The “Rebalancing” collection is for problem skin, although the hydrating collection may also be nice to try. You get SO much product for so little here, but IMO, if you have particularly bad acne, the cleanser actually isn’t strong enough. Useful to have in the cupboard though/when payday feels a long way away.
- Other brands: Juliette Armand (Cleanser & Moisturiser yum yum!) ZO Skin Health (although these are usually salon based only) Environ (far superior, but less affordable for me!). Again - you only need ONE cleanser & ONE moisturiser, then ONE scrub to be used ONCE a week!!!
Dermalogica, The Ordinary, Kaeso Beauty & Bare Minerals are all cruelty free paraben free microbead free formaldehyde free etc etc but more research needs to be taken with other recommended brands. NB: If you choose to use a moisturiser/makeup that doesn’t contain an SPF, you WILL need an SPF additionally, even on a cloudy day ☁️ Embrace the Vit D but say no to sun damage
Points of Interest
- Male & Female skin have different structures and will respond differently to different products and treatments. Most notable, male skin is about 25% thicker so much tougher, which more sebum production ie. guys are more prone to blackheads.
- There is much research being done into the acne occurrence as a predictable side effect of masculinizing hormonal therapy in transgender patients, after six months or more of testosterone treatment. More research necessary but I HAVE read that antibios have proved to be effective, as well as low doses of Isotretinoin, although this is far less likely to be prescribed due to anxiety/depression side effects.
- Super weird - peanut butter (aside from having high fat & sugar levels ... brand dependent obvs) CAN sometimes contain androgens (male sex hormones) ... give it a google, it’s all a bit strange but might lead you to cutting down
- Toothpaste DOES help to dry problem spots out ... the cheaper the brand the better 😂 🦷

Last week of current things. Still on shaky ground.

Feb. 1
I woke up a bit after 11AM.
After a bit of the usual, and ruminating on a lot of the shit that’s been happening... did some exercise.
First, today’s DD. 40 reverse lunges with EC. Winding and not a personal favorite but mission accomplished. :P
Second, Day 25 of the BLP. Level 3, one superset. Enough leg work for warm-up, I decided.
Third, Day 31 of the KCP. Active day. Same way as the last week’s active days.
The uncle wasn’t around pretty much all day, coming back around midnight. Slept at our place, I think?
Anyways, made some dinner and showed dad some videos before clocking out (rather late again).

Feb. 2
I woke up a bit closer to 11AM.
Watched some videos and picked up my meds before getting in my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ sitting punches with EC. This took a bit of willpower to maintain the hold, but it was pretty enjoyable work. I counted 283 punches thrown in the time given.
Second, Day 26 of the BLP. Level Level 3, one superset. Yeah. Warmup.
Last, Day 32 of the KCP. Active day. Don’t feel like saying much about it - other than it was pretty straightforward.
Did spend time getting some oven racks soaking in the tub and light scrubbing of the oven. But didn’t do a whole lot else and got to bed too late again..

Feb. 3
I woke up a bit before noon.
The first thing I attempted to do today was begin cleaning the oven proper.
Until I had a damaging argument with the uncle, he crossed the line. It really fucked me up. One reason why I lapsed on recording the fitness stuff in much detail, for several days...
But I did make myself get through my exercises...
First, today’s DD. 2′ raised leg hold with EC (frontal). After a crummy day and trying to get the oven clean, I'm just happy I managed to do this in first try. The hard part was the building muscle fatigue. :P
Second, Day 27 of the BLP. Level 3, one superset. Solely upperbody work, this time. Manageable, despite fatigued arm muscles from the oven stuff.
Third, 5′ warmup. March steps.
Last, Day 33 of the KCP. Active day. Yeah. I’m not sure if I’ve always been on top of my rep/set counts at times. If I lost track and dropped some... I don’t really care at this point. I did something.
Taking a shower and finishing cleaning the oven to the best of my ability were the last things I did that were actually productive.

Feb. 4
I woke up a bit after 8AM.
Ran into probs getting transit this morning. LogistiCare tried to get Lyft to pick me up instead of the usual local service (”GR”). Lyft probably never picked me up and still counted me as a no show. :/
Had to ask bro if he was willing to take me to the facility, even though I missed Seeking Safety at that point, mostly so that I could touch base with my case manager. Also worked a bit on some art, while I was there.
Had an awkward/painful trip home... but I don’t feel like getting into that here.
Once home, I spent a few hours archiving and building a timeline back to Jan. 18. It was exhausting, but I felt it necessary, before getting in my exercise again.
First, today’s DD. 60 leg extensions with EC (AKA donkey kicks). This was reasonably fun for a day that could be best defined as a mixed bag. :P
Second, Day 28 of the BLP. Level 3, one superset. Enough legwork for it to count as warmup.
Last, Day 34 of the KCP. Rest day. For rest days, I’ve not been modifying things (read: no weights while doing the calf raises).
I had kind of a bad night, Dad got drunk and I stayed up way too late playing solitaire. :/

(After making dinner, feeling exasperation while doing it, and the usual noise...)
Last, Day 16 of the G2BC. Yeah, remembered how I wanted to do this challenge? Yellow zone, anyways.

Feb. 6
I woke up a bit after 8AM.
Didn’t have transit trouble this time around. Happy about that.
Got to facility, went to diner, did some art, attended WRAP Group, and played some solitaire.
Got home and anxiously waiting for my case manager’s home visit today. The meeting went pretty well. Mostly because the uncle stayed outside while me, dad, and CM talked. I mostly shared the timeline and we both related the situation to the CM. He's going to make weekly home visits to check our collective pulse.
Did some dishes and some more of the usual before getting in today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 60 climbers with EC. Still in a relatively fragile state - but I did get a morale boost earlier today. Happy I could manage this one, despite a bit of indigestion and sleep deprivation. :P
Second, Day 30 of the Baseline Program. Level 3, one superset. Good enough for warmup. Just happy I completed this program
Third, Day 36 of the Knee Conditioning Program. Rest day. Ditto on the completion thing.
Last, Day 17 of the G2BC. Yellow zone.

Feb. 7
I woke up a bit before 11AM
One of the first things I did today was the DD. 40 glute flexes with EC. This was a bit of a challenge - but still manageable. That Knee Conditioning Program I just finished did have some glute work, which I did think helped. :P
Then played some rummy with grandma and Dad, before and after my psych appt. Which went better than I was anticipated. Doctor was pretty understanding and apologetic. One of the things I liked was getting the mood lightened up in thinking about what I could do on my birthday.
Partly because of overeating and it being a rest day - I didn’t do a lot else, today.
Didn’t manage to get to bed on time.

Summary:
I finished my programs in Feb. 6.
They were going pretty okay, for the first 2-3 weeks, until family issues arose. My enthusiasm waned afterwards, even though I stayed on schedule.
The Baseline Program was pretty breezy and I was happy I could accomplish Level 3 and in single sets every day. I kind of wish I was in a better headspace to appreciate this experience.
The Knee Conditioning Program did get a bit tedious - for want of variety. Assigned Sat-Mon & Wed as active days (all 12 exercises), Tues & Thurs as rest days (just heel cord stretches + calf raise; because I go to groups those days).
I shaved down my rest periods and probably rushed through the reps as I went along. For the leg presses: 3 lbs resistance for weeks 1&2, 3.7 lbs for 3&4, and 4.6 for 5&6. I started without additional weight - then used them for every active day in the schedule.
I was a lot less consistent with trying to rerun the Get to Bed on Time Challenge... but I’m just going to give myself some grace, given everything.

Not that i have planned right now. I have an opportunity to go see maroon 5 perform in a city an hour away but i have a night class

my boyfriend’s lack of communication with me. seriously though, we didn’t talk at all last weekend because he was at his brother’s bachelor party which i was fine with him not calling or texting me because i wanted him to enjoy time with the guys. but even afterwards, he texts me less, when we call he’s always so tired so i just let him sleep. We’re doing long-distance so it’s hard enough that i dont see him often but he doesn’t even call or text me. He’s also starting school at a big university

yes, when i was in high school, for the school year book. I’m usually interviewed for the cheerleading section

Why u do this to me
1. Who’s the one who’s reckless and always getting into trouble while the other gotta pull em out For Malakhara and Quinn it’s definitely Mala not that she’ll ever admit to needing Quinn’s help and Quinn sure as shit isn’t going to point it out. Dani needs Selvavra to bail her out almost every hour on the hour because Dani is physically incapable of shutting tf up.
2. Who’s the one to send the other “I love my gf/bf” memes Mala and Quinn aren’t really into memes. Selvavra and Dani on the other hand are a pair of memeing fucks but Dani sends danker memes
3. Who’s the one who listens to a music genre the other doesn’t like and how does the other react Malakhara likes to play the sith equivalent of gregorian chanting for hours on end because she is dramatic Quinn has learned to put up with it. Selvavra enjoys punk rock (mostly from the 70s and early 80s) while Dani listens to nothing but nightcore and edm. Selvavra will use the force to shut off Dani’s music if it’s too loud and Dani will whine after an hour of listening to Selvavra’s tunes so it’s an eternal musical back and forth.
4. Which one spoils the other more and do they ever get competitive to show the other more love Quinn is definitely the one that gives in this relationship he bends over backwards for Mala. Mala may once in while show some basic affection if only to keep Quinn on his toes. Selvavra and Dani are in a damn arms race for shows of affection and at this point one of them is going to have to rearrange a galaxy into the others initials.
5. How many years did it take to get married or was it just not for them Quinn and Mala got married ridiculously fast knowing each other for a whole 6 months before tying the knot and it was a huge affair and Mala was an absolute bridezilla. Selvavra and Dani are just happy being each others girlfriends/partners in crime for life they’ve no need for formal ceremonies or paperwork.

Because Mala will feel rage about having feelings. So much Rage. Selvavra tends to just scoop Dani up and cuddle her until Dani is ready to face the world. Dani makes bat shit convoluted schemes to cheer up Selvavra that usually go south quickly but still cheer up Selvavra.

Quinn is a much more subdued drunk perhaps giving Mala a bit more lip that he would otherwise. Dani is a super giggly and having the time of her life while leaning heavily on whoever is closest to her. Selvavra tends to just get sleepy.
14. Which one rolls over in the morning to wake up the other one just to give kiss them Mala likes to do this and then go right back to sleep and will deny doing it later. Dani does this because Selvavra makes such a grumpy face when she does.
15. Have they saved each other’s lives before Mala did in a way but really it was Amistra’s way of condemning Quinn to death by transferring him to Mala’s ship. She didn’t expect Mala to keep him around. Quinn has patched her up after family infighting does not go Mala’s way. Selvavra saving Dani’s life was the start of their relationship.

30 Days Writing Challenge
I just found this challenge on twitter and, well, i dont really have much things to do soooo here we go!!
DAY 1: its either im way too excited for things or idgaf at all, theres no in between. im socially awkward, especially around new people, but once you get to know me theres no way to stop me from talking! im a lil bit sarcastic and like to throw shades at people ehe and lastly, i love spilled tea but not spilling them #guilty
DAY 2: good music makeeeeeeessss me super happy, like literally it can set my mood for the day. i loveee cute animals, just looking at them makes me happy! and also mini-sized things makes me want to explode from happiness hehehe lastly, hugs and kisses
DAY 3: Bandung, June 22nd 2019. The place, the moment, the person. Everything was soooo perfect. We went to see Phum Viphurit and it was nothing less than amazing. The rough chair, the 8 hr trip, the sunset. We started to grow apart at that time, we both knew it but refused to talk about it. Joji’s Sanctuary just recently came out, he suddenly took out his earphones, plugged it to his phone, offered me the left piece, then he played the song. We were immersed in the song and lyrics and just enjoyed the sunset while sitting on the train.
DAY 4: Greece!!! UK!! Budapest!! Bandung!! Surabaya!! New York!! There are lot of places i want to visit but im in short of money soooooo yup :-)
DAY 5: They are doing pretty much good as parents. I mean they are not the best but also not the worst. I appreciate everything they’ve done for me and yeah im grateful to have them in my life even tho im not really fond of them, i guess?
DAY 6: Being single comes hand-in-hand with happiness. I mean, its literally the time and the chance for us to learn something new about ourselves. Being single means you are not tied down to do things that you dont want to do. Being single makes you realize that you are the ONLY one person that is responsible for your own happiness. Dont let other people define your happiness!!! lol this literally is something that i write for myself.
DAY 7: Cant pick one. I loveeeeeee romance comedy movies. Cheesy, i know. My favorites are the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, 500 days of summer, hes just not that into you, love actually, bridget jones’ diary, music&lyrics. I also love shrek the third, idk why i just love it, watched it hundreds time. The emperor’s new groove also my fav. Ghiblis’ movies are awesome too!! Spirited away, howl’s moving castle, the wind rises, and ocean waves are so so so so goodddd!! Oh and i also love Lalaland, The King’s Speech, theory of everything, the danish girl, and the imitation game.
DAY 8: Music is soooooooooo powerful!!!! I mean it. It really is powerful, well, at least for me. You know that feeling when you just found a really good song that somehow relates to you??? Music makes you feel things. I guess its just how art works? They make you feel things? Oh and also, music is the closest thing to time machine right now. See? Music, well, art in general can transport you!!
DAY 9: Happiness is def something that you need to earn by yourself. You cant just depend your happiness on someone/something else. Happiness is different for everyone, just try to find the meaning of YOUR happiness and go for it. Well, im still struggling to find my own happiness tho but lets just keep trying, shall we?
DAY 10: I dont really have that much of friend tbh but you know what they say, quality over quantity. My best friends are literally the main reason why im still here. They mean the whole world to me.
DAY 11: There’s nothing much to say about my sibling if im being honest. My sister lives in Jkt with her husband and her kids. My brother is autistic. I love my brother to death and will do anything for him. Thats all.
DAY 12: I LOVEEEEEE TV SERIES HAHAHAHA. From the good ones, to the shitty ones. Some of my favorites are modern family, the good place, brooklyn 99, stranger things, how to get away from murder, next in fashion, the amazing world of gumball, andddd i suddenly cant remember anything else
DAY 13: I dont really read books a lot, but one of my favorites is Norwegian Wood. Its just soooooo beautifully written. You can feel the love, the pain, the warmth, you can feel everything through Haruki Mukami’s words.
DAY 14: Im not the most stylish person you will ever meet. I wear similar things everyday. Neutral colors paired with culottes and sandals or sneakers. Thats it. I actually love colors but not confident enough to wear it.
DAY 15: New York or London. I dont know, i’ve always admired busy places. Cities filled with busy people doing their own thing. No one gives a fuck about what you do. Busy places make you think no matter how shitty your day is, there will always be tomorrow.
DAY 16: we used to do everything together. we used to talk for hours about everything. we used to share our favorite songs to each other. we used to laugh at our own stupid jokes. we used to go to music gigs together. we used to watch movies together. not sure if he is the one that im missing or is it just the memories? the time that we spent together was beautiful. its kinda funny to think now that we act like a stranger to each other but yeah time changes people. he was my first everything. sometimes i wonder what would happen if we’re still together to this day, would i be happier? or would i suffer more? this may sound ridiculous, but what we had was as beautiful as lyrics in songs, melodies in musics, colors in paintings. ewwwww this is sooo cringe worthy lol okay i’ll stop.
DAY 17: im so attracted to funny guys i dont know why lol i love guys who can make me laugh. i also love a guy who knows what hes doing. Guys with knowledge also turn me on lol oh and im sooo into guys with glasses.

3. I’ve taken some art classes in school (more or less just for the elective credit) but I’m pretty self taught. I watch tutorials more than take actual classes.

7. I ALWAYS USE REFERENCES! even from my own art lmao
8. I draw just for fun, I do have some things on redbubble and I plan on doing commissions but it’s mostly just for some extra money and not as an actual job.

27. Ummmm, it depends on the coloring style I decide to color with. If it’s just the flat color w/blush it takes like maybe 20+ layers (including sketch and line art) but if I’m doing more in depth shadin it’s probs like 35+ layers.
28. My favorite medium is probably pencil & pen, but right now I’m starting to get into watercolor and I really like it.
29. For a big traditional piece I start by sketching it out on like printer paper (maybe do variations of the idea) and then redraw it on the actual paper. Or I just go straight on with a light sketch.
30. Looking at other artists’ work is what inspires me to be a better artist tbh.

Week 1 of new stuff! Late to post... but whatever...

May 23
I woke up after 1PM, today.
One of the first things I did today was make today’s Hello Fresh meal. Zucchini & sun-dried tomato panini. This was also very enjoyable! It reminded me of the times I went to Starbucks for internet access and it was one of my regulars. I love fresh basil and everyone liked it well enough.
I then did some dishes, shopped, and chatted a bit before doing today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ bicep flex hold with EC(?). It was either 1′ or 2′, given some typos on the post this time. Decided to shoot for 2′, to be safe. This was pretty intense, and I wound up tensing my trapezii and my left lat... for some reason. But tried to refocus and steady my breath to avoid pulling stuff.
Second, Day 1 of the Vitality Program. Level 3, no rest. Surprisingly tuckered out my hip flexors in this one! I tried to challenge myself a bit to try to do the balancing variation as much as I could (a few times falling out, mostly due to fatigue.)
Last, Day 1 of the Core Strength Program. Level 3, 1′30″ rest. That kicked my butt a bit! And it roughed up my elbows too. Thankfully was wearing long sleeves. Remains to be seen whether I’ll continue hitting Level 3, but I will do my best!
Intended to restart the meditation, but that fell by wayside for the night. Spent most of the rest of my time chatting about movies before gaming and getting to bed late. :P

May 24
I woke up after 1PM again, today.
After binging OpenAI music, chatting and starting watching a movie with a friend... I did some exercise during the start of the movie (Monkeybone).
First, today’s DD. 40 dead bugs with EC. Took me a moment to dust off the muscle memory - but I found my groove sure enough.
Second, Day 2 of the VP. Level 3, no rest. A whole lotta arm work. Mildly taxing but still pretty breezy.

Third, Day 2 of the CSP. Level 3, 1′30″ rest. Form mighta been a bit sloppy - but good enough for me. Because man, that was intense.
Last, Day 1 of another rerun of the Meditation Challenge. 5′ of meditation. Sat there and focused on my breathing... man. I forgot how nice it can be to just meditate.... a great time as any to get this going in earnest...
I then watched Scoob! as the second movie in tonight’s double feature. And found it delightfully charming.
I got to bed late again, but earlier than yesterday.

May 25
I woke up after 2PM, today... bleh.
Watched a bit of YouTube, took a shower, and spent a few hours at grandma’s for Memorial Day with few other family members. Food was tasty and I got a bit overfull. But it was reasonably smooth an experience (honestly, helping with food-making does make one feel less tense in that environment...)
After we got home, spent some time chatting and browsing, while I waited on ffod to digest. So I wound up exercising a bit later than ideal.
First, today’s DD. 2′ bouncing with EC. I counted 252 bounces. As expected, this did make me find a bit of joy, by the end.. I love this exercise! =w=
Second, Day 3 of the VP. Level 3, no rest. This was pretty breezy... but I may’ve rushed through it a bit more than optimal. A lot of it was stretching/flexibility work, so slower would be better. Hopefully, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.
Third, Day 3 of the CSP. Level 3, no rest. Hip flexors did feel that load - but I could manage with minimal rest, today. I did think to doing the twists more slowly, but given the time, I just wanted to knock this one out.
Last, Day 2 of the MC. 1′ equal breathing + 5′ meditation. The equal breathing portion felt a bit rushed with my eyes closed today. So I may opt to do them how did them in past, with visual cue, going forwards. I was also a bit more fidgety today, probably from all the coffee I had today. I still appreciate my effort.
Didn’t get to bed on time again, but I did get to bed a bit earlier than yesterday. *Shrugs.*

I woke up a bit after noon, today.
During/after a bit of YouTube and gaming, I got my exercise in fairly early.
First, today’s DD. 40 sitting twists with EC. Pretty breezy work - but then I decided to do it quickly again.
Second, Day 4 of the VP. Level 3, no rest. The balance work was enjoyable and breezy. Arms got mildly tired by end of it, but far from unmanageable!
Third, Day 4 of the CSP. Level 3, 1′30″ rest. That was pretty intense, but I was able to keep plank through each set.
(After a break to eat and whatnot...)
Last, Day 3 of the MC. Backup & Restore Workout plus 5′ meditation. Did the WO with EC by doing 10 slow ct holds. I still enjoy this sequence quite a bit! Meditation wen well enough too.
I then made some dinner, chatted a little bit, and then got back to work.
I got to bed late again... but earlier than yesterday. :P

I got up around noon today.
One of the first things I did was some at touching up and talking with client about current project. Huzzah, I’ll be so happy to finish it.
Then, I went into today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ chest expansions with EC. I counted 168 reps by the time was up. Pretty breezy work.
Second, Day 5 of the VP. Level 3, no rest. Pretty breezy stretching/flexibility-oriented sequence again.
Third, Day 5 of the CSP. Level 3, 1′30″ rest. Ooof. I liked the heel taps, the knee-in/twists... not so much. But I felt it and appreciate the benefits.
Last, Day 4 of the MC. 5′ meditation. Pretty calming despite some mild heartburn.
Made dinner, did a little bit of chatting and mostly spent rest of day on art.
I got to bed over an hours earlier than yesterday, but still in the red.

I woke up before 1 PM.
Did a little touching on art before getting in today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 2′ chest expansions with EC.... accidentally erased the number I recorded on my dry erase board. But I’m pretty sure I approached 2/sec. Breezy work.
Second, Day 6 of the VP. Level 3, no rest. Stretching stuff mostly - I think I endeavored to go at this suitably slowly this time. Very manageable.
Third, Day 6 of the CSP. Level 3, 1′30″ rest. This was pretty intense. Those knee-ins and twists are always pretty deceptive.
Last, Day 5 of the MC. 5′ meditation. Noted that it was a calming session.
Spent rest of day watching the Austin Powers trilogy with friend.
.I got to bed earlier than yesterday, but still pretty late.

I woke up after 11AM.
Most of my day was spent working on my current art project - doing finishing touches on it. Also watched YouTube.
Did my exercise related stuff well past midnight... oops.
First, today’s DD.40 raised leg circles with EC. Only prob really was in how late I was in doing this. :P
Last, Day 6 of the MC. 1′ equal breathing + 5′ meditation. Pretty straightforward, but certainly was a bit fidgety.
Not much else to really say other than I got to bed entirely way too damn late again. :P
