ANON: 'Hobie def seems like he knows sign language not just for communicating with those who are non-hearing/non-verbal but even just to communicate with others that are not within hearing distance in an emergency

(Idk if this is actually canon but if not then it’s a personal bc I had for Hobie that I just really wanted to share with someone 😭)'

NO UR SO RIGHT ANON AND IM GONNA DELVE AND ELABORATE ON THIS!

hobie’s line of work requires him to jump language barriers. he knows his accent isn’t easy to understand so he knows how to translate some of his words so others can understand him.

he learned sign language while he was homeless, interacting with others from many different backgrounds. hobie utilizes it A LOT. sign language makes it easy for him to communicate and also express how he feels.

when fighting with his normal spider society teammates, he’ll teach them some key signs and terms he’ll sign to them when in combat or in stealth missions. this makes communication easier in long distance situations, and even helps catch the enemy off guard!

often times, hobie finds himself signing at his concerts. whenever he speaks or says words before his songs, he signs whatever he says with it. he wants to ensure everyone knows what’s happening and can enjoy the concert to its fullest.

he’s also the biggest advocate for everyone learning sign language. he hates how the world is set up to where those who need sign language are stuck behind a barrier, and wants that to change.

in a relationship, both you and hobie use sign language in cases either of you go non-verbal!

when hobie goes non-verbal, it’s because he’s exhausted. his day consists of fighting enemies, fascists, and corrupt government. of course he’s tired! when tired he’ll opt to sign as communication, too tired to even speak at that point. if you know sign language, perfect! please use it to communicate with him, it’s important to him. if you don’t, that’s okay! he’s your teacher now, teaching you all about the language and the culture with it.

whether you are mute, go non-verbal, or are someone with hearing loss, communication is never an issue with him. he knows how to sign effectively and efficiently, his communication and understand skills in sign language being amazing for someone self-taught. hobie always wants you to know that communication is never an issue.

even if you don’t require sign language, hobie is still going to use it. he uses it when he talks regularly, and its important to him you understand and maybe use it too.

he loves signing i love you. whether you both sign it with arms crossed over your hearts, or use the handshape to signify it, it’s still regularly used between you two. it’s something he appreciates greatly.

(also another little thing but he LOVES the sound his rings make against each other when he signs. i love the sound my rings make so im PROJECTING)

overall, sign language is an important part of hobie’s life. he wants everyone to be able to talk to him, get to know him. because no one deserves to not be understood solely because they know a different language than them!

choir asl hcs bc im in an asl class rn

Ricky and his family use actual asl and not "their own made up sign language"

Ricky teaches the choir asl (shenanigans ensue)

Penny picks up on it the quickest, as she's the one who spends the most time with him.

Mischa takes about as long as she does to learn, maybe a little longer to become fluent (he's really good at learning languages)

Ocean takes the longest and it frustrates her so much because she's always been the best at everything and everything has always come easy to her... except for this thing which is vital to the communication between her and Ricky

Constance has an asl tutor because she doesn't get the hang of it easily, the choir (minus Ricky) meets with the tutor each Wednesday at the Blackwood Cafe to sharpen their skills, but Constance sees her every day until she doesn't need to anymore.

Noel makes a competition out of how good he and Ocean are at asl. she hates it but it's all in good fun, and Noel isn't actually making fun of her for learning slower than him.

Ricky just loves that his friends are doing this for him. He knows it's the bare minimum, but after spending so long without people to talk to it's nice to have people who care about him.

Ocean apologizes to Ricky for not learning sooner, and they have a heart to heart about what it means to be a good friend and how Ricky is proud of Ocean for trying now and making up for lost time and also about how he forgives her for not making more of an effort in the past.

Most of the choir still talks to Ricky and mainly uses their knowledge of sign to understand what he's saying, but Penny will actually sign without speaking a good chunk of the time. It can be more comfortable for her and it makes Ricky feel a little more "normal" to have some who also doesn't speak around him.

Mischa and Ricky sign to each other in situations of need. Usually Mischa will pass Ricky in the hallways and if some kid is bothering him he'll sign to him, asking if Ricky needs backup or just someone to walk with him that isn't an asshole.

Noel and Ricky sign to each other when they're in class and sharing answers or passing secrets and jokes.

Oh, here comes the spacedolls hcs:

Penny asks him out in asl, Ricky tries not to cry

Ricky will sign "i really love you" to her at random times and she just melts

They sign really fast and so when the other choir members or other students walk past they're just telling elaborate stories to each other and their hands will basically be wavy blurs. It can be hard for the others to keep up but it's really cute to watch the two of them just beaming and signing to each other all the time.

Task Force 141 with a mute!reader

Price

He knew you were mute because of your file. He also knows the reason why because it was in your file also.

He wasn't concerned about it at all. As long as you were good at your job then he knew he would be able to adapt to your needs

(You're very good at your job)

The only concern he had was the fact that he didn't know a lick of ASL.

At first he relied heavily on your facial expression and body language. He could read you well, so there was rarely any miscommunication between you both

"Don't give me that look." He chided when your eyes narrowed. "You're training with Ghost today, go."

You didn't think to teach him ASL since you were able to communicate with him fine and you knew he was busy with a lot more things

What you didn't know was that he was learning it in his spare time as much as he could. Being the perfectionist he is, he wanted to get it completely right the first time without any mistakes to surprise you

On a day he finally felt confident in his skills, he caught your attention and began to sign to you.

You assumed he was trying to say something along the lines of "Look what I can do." but he kind of failed miserably at it.

You tried not to laugh, but you couldn't resist the amused smile on your face

It was one of the few times Price was embarrassed

However, you kindly showed him the right way to do it and when he did, you were so happy you got tears in your eyes

After that you taught Price when you could and he was grateful that you were so patient with him when he messed up.

He really enjoys your company, especially when he’s doing reports

You two definitely talk shit together in sign language when you know the others don’t know ASL

Will stand up for you if anyone even thinks about saying something about you being mute. He does not tolerate it at all

Ghost

Honestly took him a bit to realize that you were mute since he’s a little quiet himself

He just assumed you were intimated by him and didn’t like to talk him. It’s happened before

(You’re not intimidated by him.)

It was until he saw you signing with Price that it sunk in.

He’s not bothered by it at all and doesn’t ask why. He actually enjoys your silence sometimes and surprisingly it makes him talk more

He finds you easy to talk to

He reads you so well that he knows what your feeling before you even do. It makes it easier for him to know what needs to be done

“Let’s take a walk.” He would urge you to stand up when he sees a sadness creep into your eyes.

You two do a lot of quality time stuff together like but you refuse to train with him bc he always wins and he gloats

He’s not used to kindness or patience and when he figures out your are both of these things, he thinks you’re in the wrong field

He dares anyone to take advantage of you. He knows you can take care of yourself and he always lets you, but behind your back he will give death glares (and threatens) anyone who has

He doesn’t understand why you’re kind to him, even when he gets a little snippy or when your patient with him when he’s having a hard time

He learned sign language very quickly and you both have conversations in sign language all the time

Sometimes people think the room is empty because you both are in a deep conversation with each other

Soap

It took him a while to realize that the reason you don't talk is because your mute and not because your more quiet than Ghost

He honestly didn't care and thought that you being able to find different ways to communicate was pretty cool

He by far is the one that talks your ear off about anything and everything, only if you're okay with that though

He tries not to make it like he's just talking to talk. He engages with you and looks at you constantly for any input through your facial expression or body language

You always listen to him considering it's Soap, whatever he's talking about is usually interesting

He cracks a lot of jokes to get you to smile or laugh because if he can get you to do it then obviously he's the funniest in the task force

This causes a joke war between Soap and Ghost to get you to laugh, for your safety it's better if you run away from them because you won't be able to breathe by the end of it

He learned how to read and interpret ASL easily but signing kind of confuses him

Your conversations are often you signing and him just talking to you regularly, though he can say a few words back to you in ASL

Sometimes he really can't understand how kind and patient you are to everybody.

He doesn't get frustrated easily but sometimes something just irks him and he's in a bad mood while you try your best to make him feel better

Your so kind when he gets hurt he jokes that you're not actually military

"Giving me goosebumps, bonnie." He laughed when you pressed a gentle hand on his arm as you wrapped it with gauze.

He shares his drawings with you. He likes the way your eyes light up when you see drawings of yourself

Gaz

He caught on pretty quick that you're mute because he's around Price and you tend to be as well

That also means he learned ASL pretty quick as well and joins in on your shit talking with Price

It doesn't bother him at all. He's not very talkative or as quiet as Ghost, he's a good middle ground, so he really enjoys being around you when he can

He admires you so much, you have his respect because you're just really good at your job and even if you both were around the same age, he would strive to be just like you

He pays attention to your body language a lot but usually he goes back to signing or talking to you if he doesn't know what's going on

He very attentive to your moods though and will try his best to help you when you're not in a good mood

He's the best person to hang out with if you just want to do something chill

He tries to assure you he's okay when you worry about him because of how accident prone this man is

(Falling out of a helicopter twice is very concerning)

Both of you tend to be on the kinder side so you both have an understanding with each other when your empathy makes the job hard

He will always have your back no matter what, even if someone else is around. He knows you can take care of yourself but he wants to let you know that you're not alone

miss ellie i'm realizing now that i never told you now revolutionary your ocs are. like. i've been on this website for literal years and the day i found your blog was with an oc post where you introduced such a dynamic lineup with so much variety, it was the first i had ever seen. maybe i wasn't looking hard enough but you had poc yanderes AND trans yanderes it was the first time i had ever seen any (i know it sounds crazy to say but i'm being so fr rn.) even when i look through your old posts and reread them i just get blown away by how each one is different and has their own personality even though you have so many?? anyway it's late and i just wanted to say that ty <3

LOL to be for real though that makes me sooooo happy you don't even understand, I'm really glad i get to be that way for you and all you lovely people 💕💕 it's a blessing to be able to write & post my work and I'm genuinely happy to see people connecting with it.

tbh, the representation i try to portray accurately is a really long-standing relationship i have with writing & authorship in general. this might not be a terribly interesting bit of lore but back when i was in my teens and consuming a lot of fanfic online in the early forms of it (ff.net my love </3) that was something that hit me a lot in reading self-insert fic, because I'd always been a huge reader and was just then tapping into self-inserts and community fiction posting rather than just books. and i remember distinctly (i think partly bc I've always grown up in multicultural neighborhoods/had mixed family growing up) reading fanfics and having the thought of "huh, i can relate to this description or this experience, but that makes me wonder whether other people can."

funny enough, it was partly when i would read descriptions of the author giving a self-insert long hair or referencing their hair in some way, and I'd start wondering how girls who wore a hijab would read that same piece, cause i went to school with a bunch of girls who wore it or a full niqab. and so i started wondering more like "if i was black, would i relate to this experience in this fic? if i was trans or gender non-conforming, are there characters i can relate to? if i were a mix of these things, could i find somewhere i belong in this setting?" and since then it kind of became a focus in the way i wrote stuff going forward.

i think using inclusive language in fic writing is really integral to a greater horizon of people enjoying it, and thinking on my ocs i always wanted to have characters that people could really relate to. I'd stop a lot in my process of creating my initial sets of characters and try to keep in mind those thoughts that i had in reading fics; "if i were this or that, could someone in that position relate to the stories I'm writing? and if not, what can i change to make that happen?" because if people are going to enjoy my characters or find comfort in them i want everyone possible to have the ability to. it's kind of intimidating at times to write for experiences i haven't had personally but it led me (and still leads me) to do a ton of research, and in doing so I've been able to learn lots of really fascinating things in the process. in doing so, it made it really easy for my characters to develop their personalities through my writing because i think they inherently have identities that are complex, which is always the goal you want for any character in the first place.

sorry that this kinda went off on a ramble LOL, but after so many years of writing and with my degree under my belt i still really think about it a lot. I'm really glad what i wanted to do has come across and i hope you continue to enjoy my ocs!! ❤️❤️

Warnings: fluff, sibling crack, did not proof reader, things are probably wrong but enjoy

But after you guys got settled in you chilled for a little bit you went with lo’ak,neteyam,tuk and kiri when they went swimming huyo was there as well when he did the sign language you were confused but it made when you resurfaced and they had mentioned they didn’t know it neteyam said “Y/n can learn it quicker than all of us she learns languages through kissing” speaking more to huyo then the rest of the group you had kicked him underwater “but its not problem i can learn like the rest of you” you gritted through your teeth at neteyam he smirked but looked away

After that you had gotten some new clothes your ones from the forest were old so you went to ronal and she had given you clothes you felt comfortable in them and just when to the beach to see your siblings learning and it was interesting to say the least

Huyo had saw you and invited you over you guys were all doing well except for lo’ak he was struggling and tsireya helped him putting her hand on his lower abdomen and you all looked at each other and smirked it was funny to see your brother that claimed he was so tough to be so flustered

But when anouong and his friends started that fight you had tries to calm everyone down and it was frustrating that they weren’t listening to you and being like stray cats so you had split them apart yourself benign able to have super strength it was easier to split the 8 foot boys apart you dragged lo’ak to neteyam and anouong to the ocean and pointed at all of them “STOP IT God you're like little boys that can’t get over anything so stupid always starting things and being just boys dumb, stupi-” you went on for about another 5 minutes and left fuming you got that they were boys but still it made you mad and you went to another part of the island to cool off it was almost eclipse but you didn’t care

You sat there for a little while until another presence came you stood up on alarm your heart racing until you saw it was huyo and your heart went faster he came to you with his arms raised up in the air a sign of surender “easy firecracker” you rolled your eyes “lo’ak told you to call me that?” he chuckled “not at all i just made it off of your personality” you scoffed and sat back down and patted to spot next to you in the sand “well are you just gonna sit there or sit down” he sat down next to you and it was calming with him until he spoke up “so what did neteyam mean when you learn languages through kissing” you felt like digging yourself into a whole and dying “well it's in the meaning but basically you have to kiss someone for just a little bit and you learn all the languages they speak” “oh that's really cool” “yeah but it's awkward when when i first met neteyam i kissed him bc i didn’t understand his language and god you should have seen his face it was so funny i was only 7 back then but as i got older i realize th-” you looked down “I was rambling wasn’t I” you looked back at huyo but he smiled his dimples showing “yeah but it was nice your voice is nice”

You nodded and looked at him and he looked back “the oceans really pretty at night isn’t it” he looked away from you with darker blue skin you looked at the ocean the bioluminescent seeking through making the sea brighter even through the pitch black night you saw a stingray far away the only reason you were able to see it was the bioluminescent little freckles on its skin “we should go out there and see it” huyo looked back at with you with concern “are you sure?” you got up and grabbed his hand already dragging him “Yeah come on” after you guys reached the sting ray it had tattoos on it under side probably done from ronal and it came up to you specifically you ran your hands across its back it was bigger than you like very much so bigger than you almost about the size or baby tuklan calf “what's your name sweet one” you whispered as it could respond “al’kua” huyo said “huh?” you looked at his clueless because you really weren't paying attention to him like that “her name is al’kua she is very kind only a baby” you smiled “well hello there al’kua”

After you had spend some more time with al’kua huyo offered to walk you home benign the sweet gentleman he was after you had gotten to your familys muari you had floated up to his face and kissed him on the cheek “thank you huyo for tonight it was lovely” you could see he was blushing “thank you as well y/n I hope we can do this again”

You walked in and saw your whole family staring at you “What?” kiri spoke up “Y/ns gotta a boyfriend” she said in a sing-song tone your whole family was smirking “shut uppp”

To fully learn a language, you need to know and comprehend:

But since I have ADHD, I add one more thing: learning through games. This will include literal computer games from German developers with German voiceovers, or just gamification of learning like Duolingo.

The site has a pretty decent library of resources not only for reading, but I put it in this category because of the presence of texts with comprehension tests at the end. It's a very nice way to see if you really understood what was written there or not.

Lindir/Haldir hcs

My Lindir/Haldir bullet point manifesto compiled at @elithilanor's request. Shout out to @parma-formenorion and @oracleofimladris for listening to me rant about this at ungodly hours

TLDR: Haldir and Lindir's respective communication styles collide to form Arda's most ridiculous slowburn bc Haldir doesn't realize Lindir is Actually Flirting™

Lindir thinks this dynamic is hysterical. He has actual reasons for not correcting it, but it doesn't hurt that it's funny.

Haldir's not oblivious. Marriage and courting are just really far down on the list of shit he's been worried about in the Third Age.

Contrary to popular belief, it's not an unrequited love situation. They have a very easy, sometimes blurry, friendship that they're both very content with. Lindir rolled a standing invitation to court/marry into it along the way and Haldir hasn't realized that it's sincere.

Lindir accidentally rattled the hell out of Haldir early on.

One of the first times Haldir was sent on business to Rivendell included Lindir feigning offense at Haldir holding back a bit from some festivities.

"I don't know what is so offensive about my voice that you refuse to dance in Imladris, but-"

The deadpan was strong enough that Haldir briefly saw his reputation flash before his eyes. Lindir dragged him into a dance while this was occurring.

They spark a lovely, if not unlikely friendship, which evolves into something like a queerplatonic relationship over the years.

They have fantastic banter.

Haldir teaches Lindir songs he doesn't know from Lorien and a few he might have picked up from Mirkwood.

When they're in the same place they often spend time in each other's rooms at the end of the day, trading stories and news about what's going on in their lands. More often it's Haldir that comes to Rivendell, but occasionally Lindir goes to Lorien. Haldir likes to hang out at river banks, so they do that schedules and weather permitting.

Lindir keeps extra rugs and furs in his room at Elrond's House because Haldir tends to take to the floor.

Lindir helped Haldir improve his fluency in Westron. Lindir likes to snoop around Eriador so Westron is a useful language to know if you're nosy.

Haldir learns to ask Lindir to specify if things are "urgent" or "time sensitive" because quickly it becomes clear they have VERY different operating definitions of what is "important."

They both keep their cards close to their chest in very different ways.

Lindir is an extrovert; he can be ostentatious and flat out aggravating occasionally, but he's charming enough to pull it off. Very good at nonchalance and Committing to the Act.

Haldir is more mild. He's well-spoken and well-liked but prefers to listen and observe. He certainly has his convictions, but he'd rather fall on his sword than misstep when he's meant to be putting on a good face for his people and/or his family.

Haldir is one of very few people Lindir allows to witness his melancholy moods. They're worse after Angmar's attacks on Rivendell midway through the Third Age.

The Situationship™

Haldir mentions someone giving him shit about being unmarried off-hand; Lindir jokes that they can always marry each other.

This evolves into a running joke where Lindir will be like stars above, just marry me already at moments. It's in jest at first but he's also not opposed.

They learn to braid each other's hair in their preferred styles. Haldir teaches Lindir some Lorien specific and Pendarin braids. Lindir shows Haldir some Noldorin practices he's learned from his friends in the valley. They're both pretty familiar with general Teleri hair practices, but they compare notes anyway.

The first time Lindir gives Haldir some of his hair to make into bowstrings it's as part of some joke. Haldir uses it because at that point it'd just be rude to not follow through. Then Lindir keeps doing it indefinitely.

Haldir teaches Lindir Pendarin and will speak it with him in private. He hardly does this without anyone outside of his family and rarely outside of Penni majority spaces. Lindir brushes up Haldir's Quenya because Lindir has found family members who speak it in private occasionally.

Lindir has told Haldir "I would follow you anywhere, unless I get distracted."

There is a healthy amount of rumors about them on both sides of the Misty Mountains.

A non-zero amount of elves are convinced that Lindir and Haldir married in secret centuries ago, foregoing all the proper traditions, and Haldir is just fucking with everyone at this point.

The camps most people fall into are "Haldir/Lindir are failing miserably at the secret part of secret relationship" vs. "Haldir/Lindir are both actively fucking with everyone" vs. "Haldir actually does not realize Lindir is serious"

Lindir compares himself to Daeron as a joke sometimes, which feeds the camp of elves who think he's in an unrequited love situation.

Haldir's had several suitors and turned away each one that pursued a serious courtship, usually because it's Bad Timing or he's Not Interested at the moment. The gossip is that he's rejecting them because Haldir/Lindir is a thing. Haldir is usually very straightforward, but he hasnt turned Lindir down to anyone's knowledge yet. Which is true in the sense that Haldir doesn't perceive anything serious there (Lindir would have spoken plainly with him about it?), so in his mind there's nothing to address.

Some of the Galadhrim have a bet going on about the Haldir/Lindir situation. Lindir learned about it quickly after its inception and placed wagers through friends in Lorien. They plan to get their hands on some Dorwinion with their eventual winnings.

Orophin started his own pool, mostly between some of his cousins. He wanted in on the wagers but was accused of having insider information/unfair advantage.

Orophin and Rúmil occasionally debate whether Lindir's type is "dumb of ass, strong of heart" or if he's some kind of emotional masochist. (Both, perhaps?) They occasionally launch coordinated attempts to convince Haldir that Lindir is in love with him. Haldir thinks they're just being annoying and it drives Orophin up the damn walls.

When people ask Lindir about the nature of their relationship, he generally deadpans whatever answer is funniest in the moment.

It makes the rumors worse.

If Lindir doesn't have anything better to do he makes the rumors worse himself because he is fucking with everyone.

The first time someone asked Lindir if they were secretly married, he replied yes and promptly cited a year from before either of them were born as their wedding anniversary.

Most people stopped asking Haldir because he thinks it's a stupid question. Last time someone brought up being "secretly married" he was actually pretty fucking offended at the implication that he would forgo a proper betrothal and wedding.

A Way Too In-Depth Over-Analysis of Sorvus

I apologise in advance. For all of this. There’s a lot. These guys have inserted themselves into every empty renting space in my brain and uprooted all the taken spaces and moved in to everything. So to appease my brain I had to do this and then it just kept going. Also I’m Australian, so I have different spellings of some words, like “favourite” and you’re just gonna have to deal with that. Also also warning for very long paragraph rambles from me.

You’re literally gonna get the entire story here but with commentary at every paragraph. And sometimes four times in one paragraph. Anyway.

1. “For weeks” means they’ve spent heaps of time together, and using this instance as a guide, probably with no one but them. They’ve progressively learnt more and more about each other, yet later Soren is still super bright and excited to learn that Corvus’ favourite season is autumn, and that’s just so pure.

2. I would like to see this please.

3. “[…]lost most of the time” implies that Corvus won sometimes. teLL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERY SINGLE ONE PLS I NEED TO KNOW WHICH ONES CORVUS WON (and yeah I also just need more Sorvus content but what can I say, they mean everything to me)

4. Corvus could probably just not participate, or tell Soren he’s too tired, or something along those lines. And yet he always tries his best, he still does it despite knowing he’ll probably lose. The fact that he’s not avoiding the challenges tells us that Corvus truly appreciates Soren’s friendship/companionship/company/etc and is fully willing to do tasks that he’s not great at to spend time with Soren and put a smile on his face. And you can’t tell me that’s not love, whether romantic or platonic or whatever. Honestly, if Corvus’ top love language is anything, I’d say it’s quality time. The other four just don’t quite fit, and, from the little we see of Corvus on screen, it seems like he’s most content when spending time with his favourite people. As for Soren, you could argue his love language is literally any of them. But I think his top two are words of affirmation and quality time - he was always so invalidated his whole life, mostly by his own father (I swear I’ll make a post of this at some point). His mother left, his father neglected him, his sister betrayed him. That’s gotta bring trust issues. So after all that, he’d appreciate someone telling him he’s worth it and telling him they love him. He’d appreciate spending time with those he loves, not even doing anything, just sitting and enjoying each other’s company, without his flaws being pointed out, without the stress of trying to keep his family together, just sitting there and loving and breathing and being.

1. This part could be a metaphor?? Corvus wants to go further with relationships at an easy pace where Soren wants to speed it up? Corvus is more of a peaceful person and Soren is scared of losing people and missing out on particular moments of relationships so he tries to experience it all at once?? It’s entirely possible I’m reading too far into this but I’m treating this like a school assignment, where you have to read too far into everything. You decide whether this is a good interpretation or not, I can’t decide.

2.a. If Soren has mentioned it “every time”, that implies a few things. The first is that they go up there enough for Soren to mention it a lot. Soren has a favourite place in the entire castle, and he wants to share it with Corvus (and there’s no one up there but them ;] IM KIDDING- or am I? Honestly I can’t tell, you decide.) 2.b. The second thing is that Corvus has heard Soren talk about this part of the castle a lot. But there’s not even the slightest hint of description of Corvus’ annoyance at having to listen to Soren constantly say this is one of his favourite places, he just lets him tell him, over and over. It’s getting little personal here, but Soren totally has ADHD, which makes my job easier bc I also have ADHD. 2.b.ii. I personally forget all the time if I’ve told this particular person this particular story/fact/whatever it is or not, so I constantly tell the same story over and over. It feels exciting bc each time it feels like I’m telling them for the first time, since I don’t remember the previous times. So when the person/people I’m talking to don’t lost their patience or get annoyed or anything when I tell them something I’ve already told them, and instead they just react like it’s the first time they’ve heard it, it feels really validating. So I’m thinking Soren feels the same, and Corvus not showing a hint of annoyance despite hearing this a lot feels really good to my neurodivergent brain and probably feels good to Soren’s, too.

1. Corvus. Notices things. About. Soren. And not just recently, it’s “a long time ago”, meaning he’s observed Soren and committed his habits to memory for years. I love them.

1. Something about the way this is worded is so beautiful. A sentence of peaceful description in the midst of casual dialogue. It makes it feel like they’re one person, staring at the beautiful view, taking it all in, together with each other but alone from anyone else to distract them from the gorgeous autumn horizon.

1. Like I said earlier (by earlier, I mean the literal first thing I said. There’s still a lot to go. This thing is called a way too in-depth over-analysis for a reason), Soren is so purely excited with the knowledge that Corvus’ favourite season is autumn. Autumn, the season they’re presently in. Meaning, for a few months, Corvus is always experiencing his favourite season, meaning he’s probably always feeling some amount of happiness/content, and the thought that Corvus is happy makes Soren happy.

2. They’re both just standing on a castle, next to each other, and staring out at nature. It probably feels like they’re the only people in the world. If they’re the only people, then to each of them, the most important thing in existence is (probably) the other. It also might be a metaphor to something, but I can’t figure out what it is. It’s possible the metaphor is something I’ve already mentioned. But if anyone thinks of anything, please lemme know, it’s an itch I can’t reach so if anyone can, please scratch it for me. (I made a metaphor about not being able to figure out a metaphor. Metaphor-caption or something, idk man)

3. Such a simple statement. Standing in such a relaxed way. He’s at peace, while alone with one of the most energetic people like ever.

1. That’s a date. Surely I’m not the only one seeing this, right? Soren, you’re describing a date. Idk if you realised, but that’s a date. You’ve just suggested a date. And Corvus will say yes.

2. Soren’s horrified that Corvus would possibly be mistreated. He’s also, more importantly, scared that it wasn’t mistreatment but Corvus’ choice, because if it was a choice then Corvus might not like beds and castles and other people and Soren can’t handle the thought that Corvus might leave him, just like everyone else he’s ever loved and trusted.

3. Help now I’m picturing little forest dates, with picnics and lying next to each other, staring at the canopy of leaves above them, and glancing at each other every time the other looks away and smiling and holding hands and Soren lying with his head on Corvus’ chest and a leaf falling right on Soren’s face and Corvus’ laugher rumbling his belly and making Soren sit up and throw the leaf at him and they laugh and smile and talk and they’re in love help

1. I kinda touched on this earlier, but Soren can’t fathom the idea of being without Corvus. Probably because of losing his entire family so Corvus is just about all Soren’s got left. And he’s really scared that he’ll lose him, too, and losing everyone would make Soren lost; lost and alone and scared and vulnerable and he needs a hug i volunteer as tribute and shut up that’s possible this is my post i make the rules but if i cant hug him then i volunteer Corvus as tribute

2. (Yes we’re talking about sentence structure. This is a way too in-depth over-analysis, get over it already man.) It’s repeated that something is bothering Soren. Repetition means emphasis, that the author wants us to know that it’s an important thing, so they say it a couple times. Something is bothering Soren, and that bothers Corvus. He wants to help Soren and get rid of this thing that’s bothering him (probably).

3. Let me translate what Soren is trying to say here: “What about me? Do you like me?” He’s seeking validating and wanting to get Corvus to stay, because without Corvus he has nothing.

1. Translation again: “I like you. I trust you. And trust is really important now, with everything that’s happened. There was a war. Everyone I’ve ever trusted betrayed me or left me. So please date me join the crown guard with me so I have more opportunities to ask you to date me it’s really big that I trust you so much, because I’ve been having issues with trust.”

2. I have asd!corvus head canons, so eye contact here is really important and rare

1. He’s paying attention to him.

2. I like to imagine he did finger guns

1. Imagine how this went down. “I like corvus a lot” “yeah, he’s great! I want him to stay in katolis but hes more at home in the forest-“ “corvus should be crown guard… I really trust him.” “-yeah, cos you’re in love with him- I trust him too. You should ask him to date you join.” (ez totally ships it and tries to set them up a lot and you cant tell me otherwise)

1. He’s trying to avoid Corvus seeing the truth in his eyes; that he doesn’t want Corvus to go, that he loves Corvus, that without Corvus he doesn’t know who or even what he is, because Corvus is all he has left.

2. I know this is like an emotional flicker or whatever, but what if it’s literally pain and wounds that are hidden behind his protective armour? Soren broke like all his bones. There’s almost no way he doesn’t still get flashes/twinges of pain (I feel like there’s some kind of medical term for that but I’ve forgotten what it is). He definitely doesn’t tell anyone about it, but probably gets flashes of pain every so often, and Corvus has somehow managed to pick up on that. Maybe.

1. People with ADHD are often over-thinkers (at least I think so? I don’t have any sources for it but I’m an over-thinker and so is everyone I know with ADHD. So probably.), so Corvus said it “as plainly as he could” to stop Soren from over-thinking it and spiralling. He gets it out, doesn’t stall, doesn’t mislead, doesn’t confuse. Just says it, and there it is, and Soren is so happy

1. I’ll admit it, I’m still thoroughly confused by this part but it’s fine cos they’re both happy and that makes me happy.

and that’s all the shenanigans i have for you today. if you made it this far, flipping wow, because there is quite literally more analysis here than there is story.

Bro the former gifted kid shit is so real 😭😭 like I’m literally a junior in college now and just realized that I have NO idea how to study. I just failed a test for the first time ever last week and had a meltdown and considered giving up on the rest of my degree 😩 like why did they let me think that it was always going to be easy??? bc now I actually have to study and try in school and I want the world to swallow me whole

Tbh what helped me might not help or give you support but yk what I told myself when I failed my first semester? That I wasn't special lol. Like I straight up told myself "You are not the first person to coast through public school without having to study only to bomb at college. And you're not gonna be the first person to bounce back and learn to study. You're not the only one who's had to do it, so you can find a way to work it out like all the other people before you"

It made the whole thing less daunting to me. Like if millions of ppl in my situation can figure it out, statistically I can too.

Granted we all learn in different ways, but my one universal piece of advice is to self-reflect A LOT. You can only learn how to study when you learn how you personally think and remember shit, and learn your strengths. Mine are writing, reading and comprehending texts, and breaking a language down to its essentials. Where I struggled was everything science and math related, especially biology and statistics. I learned that if something doesn't interest me, I don't learn it easily. So I made my classes interesting. I would think of questions I want to answer and learn to do using my class material, and study towards that goal.

Examples: I want to learn everything about mushrooms and cephalopods, because as a psych major I wanted to explore the idea of fungal "psychology" and octopus psychology. I want to know how they think. I also want to work with kids and I want to know how their brains form connections (because I love seeing the weird ass ways babies and children connect dots in their heads that adults don't.) But to get there, I have to learn about the basics: the human brain, the cellular structure of organisms, etc. I have to be able to interpret data and organize it and analyze it using stats software.

So by having that goal, I could use the curriculum as a stepping stone to get there. If I learn about the basic structure of cells, I can understand how mushrooms communicate with each other using their mycelium network. I can understand how octopuses change color so quickly and effectively. I can understand what a study's saying by looking at its numbers and know WHICH numbers to look for.

So for whatever you're studying, try to think Big Picture. Why are you at college and why are you studying shit for your major? If it's just to get a degree then you're gonna struggle with motivation to get through those hard classes, so try to find an intrinsic motivation. There is ALWAYS something fascinating about your field that you don't know yet, even something like nursing or business. Personally if I were to do it all over and major in business, I'd do it because I'm staunchly against corporate monopolies and the corrupting hold US banks and companies have on the federal government. I would study business and Poli sci to learn about that relationship and how to fight it and chip away at that corruption (before inevitably dying from a Clinton Suicide--thats when you end your own life with two gunshots to the back of the head).

In every field, there's something you can learn and something you probably want to learn but don't realize it yet. Find it and use that as your motivation to get through the classes you struggle in, and it's much harder for you to give up.

some headcanons for my kids (+ I’m basically just channeling my own family/friends/myself onto them <3)

They all have ethnic names period even if theyre not listed in the movie, they have them. (most of the time growing up asian american you will 100% have a name given to u by ur parents/family member/close family friend/grandparents, the only bad that comes out of that is only members of ur family use the name and are the only ones who can pronounce it most of the time and when it comes to papers u sign, u dont rlly include ur asian name bc its like a middle name and isint always necessarily which is p shit, we are given such American first names because they’re easy to pronounce when coming over :/)

Yale has a tradition of inviting flying friends over to his place for New Years for a Korean celebration and makes a seaweed soup thats always eaten for the new year! (something my own family does)

Yale taught Harvard Korean and always has Harvard tag along on Korean trips to visit family! They love Harvard and Harvard loves the food lolol!!! and them ofc!!!

Halo met Fritz first and they stuck together like glue being two of the few asians, when they met Yale they made their own little friend group (i think other pocs can relate, when being in a place where there are ppl who make u feel alienated, finding people who are the same as u is comfortable and its easier to relate to each other, at least in my experience)

Fritz has a small lil “asian glow” when drunk LOL meanwhile Yale is head to toe bright red 💀

Yale bought Halo (and later on Phoenix!!) a hanbok as a birthday present (she would look so pretty in one omg, a hanbok is a traditional korean clothing, they are rlly pretty, its like a flowy dress)

Halo incorporates Mandarin in her english

Yale has no siblings so he basically adopted Halo and Fritz to be like his family, he act like a big ol older brother to them, a lot of his own family is in S. Korea

When Fritz’s grandparents immigrated over, the ones taking down peoples names wrote his last name incorrectly as Avalone (this is a true story from my family, my last name is incorrectly spelled and hence its pronounced incorrectly as well honestly this hc can also go with Halo)

Fritz is the youngest of the three, Yale is the oldest

They all taught each other swear words in their language AHAH

Fritz has a younger sister who got him into kpop (lol my own sister) and he has a lot of photocards, Halo teases him about it even tho she herself is into a lot of jpop and cpop groups

Yale always picks up a kpop album for Fritz and his sister on his Korea trips! 💚

When Yale gets angry he rants in Korean (when someone talks super fast in korean its so entertaining, like speak ur truth bro hell yeah but also dont yell at me or ill cry MCNDJD)

Yale’s guilty pleasure is watching Chinese dramas, he and Halo’s mom get together and break down the latest episodes of their shows they bringe whenever he’s in town HAHA (i think Yale would be a hit with Fritz and Halo’s parents)

Fritz is re-learning some of his Mandarin from Halo since as a kid his parents didn’t enforce their languages onto him but he does know more Filipino!! (me shaking my fist at my own parents, i couldve been a fluent bilingual lol)

Sometimes on comms Yale and Harvard will switch to Korean and annoy their flying partner for fun AHAHA

how i approach a reading / the cards

do you feel overwhelmed when pulling cards?

are you a beginner and need a guide to get started?

read this to see how i personally do this and you might find something useful out of it!

thank you if you support! this took a lot of work so it means so much :)

for the most part this is just an educational guide but it’s also made for you to follow along with your cards to see a visual as you read. if you want to skip the info and just try an analysis with me , skip to - “SO YOU PULL ONE CARD - NOW WHAT???”

also : pinterest is a great way to find cheat sheets!

INCLUDES:

- using imagery + facial expressions and body language

- using colors

- using the suits/court + numbers (sometimes)

- using placement (in the spread)

- major and minor arcana differences + how to approach them separately

- using reversals

FIRST THINGS FIRST

get a deck with good imagery - rider waite preferably. pls do not get a deck made with a “pretty” look to it. these are nice for when you become accustomed to the cards and more intuitively aware.

for example, heres a deck I have that i would NOT use as a beginner. (not my pic)

2ND THING - SUPER IMPORTANT

Divination and spirituality are individual practices. No 2 people will do them the same or practice them the same. This is why its so important that you find what works for you and how your intuition works. For example, if someone is clairaudient (hears messages), that doesn't mean you will be. You could be clairvoyant (sees visions/pictures).

SPREADS - YES OR NO?

You may hear about celtic crosses and other big spreads, but for now I say keep it to 3 cards or less. Once you become more accustomed to the meanings, 5 should be okay. This is because you hardly know what they mean, why try to send your brain into overload? Lets honestly keep it to 1 or 2 when your first trying to wrap around how tarot works !

REVERSALS - YAY OR NAY?

As a beginner, I say no to reversals. I don't have a vendetta against reversals lol, you simply are already trying to learn 78 cards, doing 156 is really hard. plus, reversals usually aren't as easy as people think. later, if you find that they work for you and you like them pls use them!

MAJOR VS MINOR ARCANA

arcana = secrets —— major secrets and minor secrets

major are big things / occurrences , they overpower the minor arcana in the reading

minor are smaller, daily life things.

important things to realize/look into:

major:

- 0-21

- study the fools journey

- major will be harder to go off of imagery so i suggest reading my post before trying to analyze any major cards.

minor:

- contains 4 suits (wands, pentacles, cups, swords)

- each suit contains 4 court cards (page, knight, queen, king)

- easier to read off of imagery so i suggest going through each one with my suggestions below

THE 4 SUITS

it’s important to realize that each suit represents a different thing(s). once you learn each one, reading will become a lot easier. (especially court cards)

THE COURT CARDS

now that yk the suits, let’s tie them into the court cards.

the court cards can be confusing bc of a couple things: they can be seen as people in a reading, they can be yourself, they can be timing, they can be a quality of someone, etc… SO MANY THINGS. So study this cheat sheet below and see how they relate to each other!

NUMBERS MAY SOMETIMES BE OF IMPORTANCE

now i don't usually use the numbers in my analysis. yes, they are INSANELY important, but i have an understanding of the cards. I would suggest using a cheat sheet and memorizing it because a few of the numbers i actually find important. Aces, 5, tens. Aces are usually gifts/offers. I've found that about all the 5s are usually negative. Tens are big endings/beginnings in different forms. 10 of coins and cups are positive, while 10 of swords and wands are a bit more negative. Again, depends on how you take them in a reading.

ZODIAC SIGNS IN TAROT

there are 12 zodiac signs. in tarot, each zodiac sign has 1 major arcana card assigned to it. You can use these as recognizing people in a spread OR timing by using the dates in the zodiac. Keep in mind that just because the moon = pisces does not mean that that is the only meaning to the moon - just a helpful addition.

TIMING

tarot can also give insight on timing. Of course major arcana with a zodiac assigned might be easiest, but minor arcana can do just as well. Find a method that works for you, do you see wands as the fastest (days) and pentacles as the slowest (months/years)? or is it opposite? now that you have that in mind, use the number. for example - 5 of wands. 5 days. --- 6 of cups. 6 months. Really it depends on your meanings of timing so assign them and stick to it!

IMAGERY

so now that yk the basics let’s look at how the imagery reflects meaning of the card.

FIRST THING- this is why i preach having multiple decks if possible. this is bc the cards look different so, you use your intuition to grab the deck with the imagery you need for that card - the other decks imagery might not reflect the message they want to get across!

lets use these main questions / prompts when beginning to analyze a reading :

how many people are in this card?

what are they doing?

what are they looking at?

how are they standing/sitting? on what? or where?

what is the background?

what are they holding?

where are they looking? (different from what, i promise)

WHAT IS THEIR FACIAL EXPRESSION?

so it’s a lot yes, but it’s so important and you will do it without realizing as you go.

let’s use this card for my example: (9 of swords)

let’s take notice of the main things we see : we see one man, he is in a bed with 9 swords above him.

by this- we can assume - he was sleeping and woke up from a nightmare or a night terror. we see that he is holding his face in agony or despair.

now this doesn’t literally mean a nightmare, he could be having anxiety or stress about something - the 9 swords could be pressuring him or are “heavy” on his mind. overall, the coloring in the card is dark and gloomy.

THE REASON I SAY WHERE INSTEAD OF WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING AT

this is only used by me when i have multiple cards in a spread. + when they fall out in their own formation/spread.

i will show an example below.

(this deck is not good for facial expressions, but their body language is useful for this example.) pay attention to the king of wands. he is pointing to another card in the spread - the queen of cups. So, for this example, i will say that the king of wands is a king who strives after what he wants. what does he want? the queen of cups.

That was just a small example out of many. one that i find happens more is an example below.

See how the woman in strength is looking towards the 4 of wands. This could mean like you finding the strength you need to work on making your family/relationship healthier and happier. Many meanings but its all how you interpret it with your intuition.

WHAT WAS THE QUESTION?

one of the biggest things you have to keep in mind when breaking down a card or a spread - is keeping what they are talking about in your head. The same spread will have a different message depending on whether its referring to love or finances. AS WELL as different people. The same cards pulled for me will NOT have the same message as the same cards pulled for my friend. Understand? So always keep the question in mind when breaking the cards down. Cards have so many meanings, don't want to get them mixed up lol.

SO YOU PULL ONE CARD - NOW WHAT???

Take into account everything said above.

whats the name of the card? sometimes the names say a lot more than we realize. For example- justice.

immediately recognize the suit and number. Use your knowledge of what these mean.

Now look at the people in the cards. How many people are there?

^^now go into what they are doing, their body language, their facial expression, where is their attention, what are they holding. What energy is this card giving off?

the colors and the background/underlying imagery in the card. Is the card overall dark and gloomy or colorful?

if you have multiple cards in a spread do this for all of them, and slowly find connections between the cards to unlock the meaning.

I will do an analysis on this card to give you one final big example

3 of swords*

we first notice this is swords and we know swords represent truth, clarity, communication, thoughts, etc...

there are no people in this card, but one heart. this heart is bright red, really the only color in this card. behind it are gloomy clouds pouring rain. 3 swords stabbing into the heart.

now lets use our knowledge on the connection between hearts and cups. and cups represent love, emotions, feelings, etc...

this card just reeks heartbreak. its like someone said something (swords - communication) and it was like swords stabbing into your heart and youre just heartbroken. the clouds are rolling in and youre sad and feel like it can't get any worse than this.

im not the biggest fan of r/nance but an au of the half of it where Steve is trying to woo Nancy through letters but uhh he don't write so good so he hires robin "already sells essays" Buckley to help him write love letters. I think there might already be an au like that out there but idk how well they balance stobin vs r/nance. like the love story is the friendship between a lesbian and her himbo so I need it to be at least 40/60 in terms of stobin/r/nance

idk Steve and robin end up starring in a production of much ado about nothing with the same energy as David Tennant and Catherine tate's version and they need to learn how to work together for the sake of the play and through that they discover how much they enjoy spending time together despite how little they have in common and the things they do have in common is what really matters anyway

uhhh one of the cars robin wrecks at prom is steve's (from rebel robin; canon enough bc I like it!) or like she manages to only wreck his car lmao so they make a deal on how they can settle everything without getting Steve's parents involved bc they'd be big mad and they slowly go from obligation to actually just genuinely enjoying hanging out with each other

I've talked about this one before but Steve's failing mrs click's history class for a second time so he's forced into getting tutored by robin since she's getting good grades and now that they're forced to actually interact robin realises that Steve is just play acting at being fine and Steve figures out that robin has a crush on someone bc my boy can sniff out emotional weakness like a bloodhound but now he's using it as a force of good to help his mean tutor get laid which will eventually lead to shenanigans. steve is a lesbian supporter no matter what

ooh another one Steve frequents a lesbian bar bc they don't card and robin finds him there and promptly freaks out but he’s like super chill

TODOKAMI HEADCANONS!!!!

I just wrote a oneshot for them bc im so obsessed w todokami, they are CRIMINALLY underrated

- Denki is always cold, like touch his hand and you get frostbite. So weird bc bro HATES the cold, he gets all whiny abt it. Shoto likes to warm him up tho when they cuddle. Sho’s such a gentleman!

- Shoto can’t read the room properly (thinks it’s a literal term and scans a room for things to read 😭😭) but Denki is all up in people’s business and tells him whats going on

- speaking of all up in people’s business, Denki and Shoto gossip ALL THE TIME!! They don’t judge, they just gossip.

- “TODOROKI!! I HEARD BAKUGO BROKE HIS ANKLE CHASING MIDORIYA AROUND THE SCHOOL!” “Of course he did…” or smth like that idk

- Shoto is so attentive and caring, listens to EVERYTHING Denki has to say and makes a mental note so he can do that one thing Den really wants. Endeavor’s credit card is just so easy to swipe.

- Denki SUCKS at cooking, like horrible, but he’s somehow an AMAZINGGGGGGG baker?? No one knows how. Bro makes better cookies than Sato and only lets Shoto taste them bc he’s unbiased unlike 99% of the class (we hate sato now btw)

- Shoto, initially, sucks at cooking, but after Fuyumi and Rei help him, he’s actually really good at it. Natural chef! Denki is a bit of a picky eater, but eats whatever Shoto made bc Shoto knows what Denki likes <3

- Bakugo hates when they’re in the same room together bc they make it so awkward with their pining. Has tried multiple times to play matchmaker by locking them in a room, but for some reason Denki can pick locks like a boss and they get out within seconds

- Mina LOVES them together. She’s like Bakugo, but tries harder to actually make them confess bc she wants to see them be all couple-y (half to annoy tf out of bakugo)

- Denki is TERRIFIED of spiders, screams like a horror movie character and skedaddles cartoonishly. Shoto, on the other hand, just kills them without hesitation. He’s not scared of anything but sudden sounds.

- They study together! Comes from Den’s below average test scores and lacking in the Quirk control department. He asked Shoto for help and thats how they became good friends! (based on my oneshot hehehe)

- Denki has freakishly good memory. He’ll remember something Shoto said MONTHS ago and quote it to him to be silly. Shoto’s confused and is like “I said that??”

- “Bakugo is lucky Kirishima can tolerate him, I couldn’t without my eardrums bursting, Shoto Todoroki, May 20th, 5:24PM.” “How do you remember that…?”

- Denki is also a very good gift giver because of that! Shoto’s love language is gift giving, but Denki’s is words of affirmation, which is funny bc both of them do the opposite to each other.

- Shoto is such a romantic, says the most gooey lovey dovey stuff ever to Denki. Denki gets embarrassed over it bc he isn’t used to positive comments on himself, so Shoto mostly does it in private.

- when they do start dating they’re so good about boundaries. Shoto knows what to not do to Denki, and Denki knows what to not do to Shoto!

- their arguments are VERY rare, like once in a blue moon. If they do fight, it’s about big things like hero work and family stuff.

- they hate arguing bc they hate seeing the other look so upset, esp Shoto, seeing people like that makes him remember his mom so he tries to avoid it as best as possible 😖😖

- speaking of moms! Rei is so so so happy that Shoto found someone like Denki. Like she’s SO happy, crying and hugging Denki. She’s emotional, let her be </3

- Denki never told his parents, scared of what they’d say, but he did tell his nonexistent older sister who he sees as a mom! She’s his biggest supporter and does her best to keep it a secret until Denks is ready

- Endeavor is hesitant about this, he literally reads stuff online to learn more about what Shoto’s sexuality and relationship is like just so he doesn’t hurt him any further. Shoto was very apprehensive abt telling him, but when Endeavor took it well, Shoto was SO fucking relieved, he was terrified about what would happen 😵‍💫

- after UA Denki and Shoto live together with a cat named Appa after atla! Mostly bc he’s Aang’s companion and the two of them make one Avatar (technically) because of their elemental Quirks!

- They partner up a lot for hero work, a dynamic duo if you will. Denki has gotten a lot better with his Quirk and controlling it, but is mindful of his surroundings thanks to Shoto’s guiding.

Funnily enough I used to be SO obsessed w Denki and my friend was obsessed w Shoto to where I shipped Momojirou bc they were “in the way” of our crushes but over time I genuinely loved momojirou sm theyre so fuyendjdjd AND NOW I SHIP TODOKAMI so it all turned out okay!!

it’s funny, i was just having a series of conversations about body image that remind me of the discussions going on here.

i have a friend who recently moved into the field of dietetics (which i was fully prepared to judge her for until i heard her philosophies about the whole thing). we had a long talk about how she wants to start a practice based on the idea that health is not a size issue, that it looks different for everyone, and how she wants to help people work towards the goals of 1) eating 2) eating *enough* 3) eating *well* and 4) feeling good in their bodies, both physically and emotionally. she wants to ask her clients questions like “what would you like your body to be able to do? how would you like your body to be able to support you in the life you’re building?” and focus on making sure they feel as good as possible, first and foremost, for as long as possible. her approach would take things like food insecurity, disability, mental health, etc. into account. i was really impressed and we brainstormed a lot of language about food as a love language and how that translates to self love and self care.

i had another talk with another friend about desirability politics and body image, and how she actually prefers her body physically how it is now, even though she’s conventionally labeled “overweight” (a term which means nothing), because her clothes fit better, her skin doesn’t sag, her temperature regulation is better, and she really enjoys the way she looks, but she’s still anxious to lose weight bc she saw the way her mother was treated growing up as a fat brown woman and she��s terrified of that happening to her. she actively wants to make herself less comfortable and less healthy by losing weight bc societal fatphobia is more threatening to her than low self esteem.

that’s what that biphobia anon reminds me of. it can be really difficult to separate feelings of “i hate being x” and “i hate the way i’m treated because i’m x.” it’s really easy for those two things to feel the same, but they aren’t, anon. i swear to you they aren’t. you can love your body and still fear fatphobia more. you can love your queerness and still fear social stigma more, and i’m genuinely offering you all the love i can and the hope that someday your love becomes stronger than your fear.

because there is so much joy to be found in queerness! there is so much beauty here! and not just in our resilience and our survival- our joy is inherent, and it doesn’t only come from overcoming homophobia in society. that’s part of it, yeah, but there’s joy just in being able to look at a woman and think “god, she’s so beautiful, i want to know everything about her.” there’s joy in seeing a man smile so it lights up the whole damn room and wanting to be the reason he keeps smiling. there’s joy in being able to do both of these things at the same time! there’s joy in meeting another queer person and realizing you understand something fundamental about each other that other people don’t, that you’re connected through a culture and a way of being that makes kin out of strangers. there is beauty in the threads that tie us together, anon, and you’re tangled in those threads whether you love them or not, and if you let us, we’ll weave a net beneath you to break your fall. there is love inherent in who you are, anon, and i truly and honestly hope you learn to feel it someday.

anyway some post bg3 hcs / rando shri’iia hcs that has been swimming around in my head that I haven’t shared yet (I think …)

- shri’iia is now growing out her eyebrows lool. the reason why she kept them shaved is that it’s very easy to change her appearance w makeup when her face is just bare but now that she doesn’t need to pretend to be someone else anymore she just grows them out albeit they’re growing out quite slowly. i think in the epilogue party they’re barely there so she probs draw them for the most part ..

- she gave up all the intel she collected for her matriarch on the menzoberranzan nobles (+ their houses) to the mirror of loss. it is her closing the door on that life so to speak, since she knows she can’t ever go back, and the knowledge that she has collected can either ruin or uplift depending on who gets it and how it is used. but shri’iia refuses to be a participant in that game anymore, and she

- that saying, her matriarch has assassins hunting her down because shri’iia knows too much and she is not meant to be ‘known’ or ‘exist’ anyway. the matriarch is nothing but meticulous, and it’s better to cut off a loose thread than run the risk of it unraveling the whole thing. not to mention that shri’iia is now an apostate of lolth, a heretic who turned away from the spider queen, and now she’s doing lolth a favour by getting rid of her.

like shri’iia’s og oath being how she will punish those who betray lolth (and her matriarch’s house) and now she is that very traitor it is so very olivia wilde nod.gif to me

- THAT saying she is travelling the world with astarion ..!!! considering that they can’t really stay in one place because she has drow assassins on her tail AND she’s very adamant on looking for a cure for his vampirism. not to mention that she is very much new to the world ..!! baby girl hasn’t left the underdark until the whole illithid shit and he spent 200 years in cazador’s kennels so now they’re travelling and exploring, living their best life but they only go out at night lol. they spend their mornings lounging and lazing about bc she can’t really go out due to her sunlight sensitivity, but when the sun sets they go out and become night time tourists with the occasional heroics (and extortion) on the side 🫶

- i also like the idea of them wearing a promise ring. i think marriage or anything of the sort is very far down the line for them, and it’s really not something they have in mind, but to have that prospect of maybe they can have something like that in the future is something that’s appealing to them. it’s also a reminder of the commitment they have for each other which I think it’s quite nice … I think they’re both a bit shy with their genuine feelings which is so 🤭🌝😳😳 kind of cute to me LMFAO.

anyway the promise rings are def stolen but I’m debating whether shri’iia looted it off a corpse or astarion stole it from some jeweller. or maybe both- like they somehow found near identical looking rings from diff people and they just decided to keep it. but the rings are made of platinum with a ruby centre stone. I think astarion’s ring is much more elaborate and intricate than shri’iia’s, with filigrees decorating the band and small clusters of gem around the prongs but the centre ruby is a much deeper red, whereas shri’iia’s band is a simpler design but her ruby is much brighter - def the highlight of the whole ring. it also matches their eyes lol

- shri’iia is also learning how to speak more fluently in the surface language/common tongue. she knew enough to communicate but she is def more comfortable speaking in drowic (both verbal and in sign language). but now that she is living in the surface, she’s def learning how to speak the language so she can communicate better. also wondering if astarion were to understand her if she spoke drowic since the elven language sounds similar - and drowic prob stemmed from it anyway - so maybe they could understand each other??? hmmm … lots of thoughts abt that anyway I also like the idea that he helps her out in that department lol

- also she is def developing a new wardrobe. since they’re always travelling to new places I like the idea of her adopting the fashion styles and trends the different region has + mixing that with her own that’s v much influenced by the fashion in menzoberranzan. anyway am I planning to make a lookbook for her some day maybe so…!

- I also like the idea of eilistraee - or members of eilistraee’s clergy reaching out to her since their beliefs and her newfound oath very much aligns with each other. but I think shri’iia is still very scarred from her worship of Lolth, and she’s very aware of the depths of her own devotion so following another goddess - or anyone else in the matter tbh is out of the question for her. this freedom she’s given is still new to her, and she wants to see what she can make out of it, and she doesn’t want to be held back by anything or anyone anymore so she is not going to be following anything else anytime soon…!! in the future she might chance her mind (or not) but for now … I don’t think she will follow eilistraee.

#the rings are def something I want to draw ….!! like I kinda have a design for them already #but I think they wore that in the epilogue party and I want to draw a lil comic of someone noticing and they’re like 👀❓‼️#I swear I have more hcs for shri’iia but every time I think of writing them down I’m suddenly no thoughts head empty #but here’s some of the stuff that’s been floating in my head like a windows screensaver … I swear I have more smh 😔#but I really like the concept of her getting used to her new life in the surface like it’s all part of the self discovery journey ..!!#and I def think she’ll still be an adventurer in the side but leaning more of a merc about it lmfao #like she’ll help only if she’s getting paid LOL which is very much her attitude in game anyway #shut up about bg3.
