as frustrating as it is right now for it to turn out that everyone the bad kids had suspected is turning out to be just as horrible as they thought, GOD is it going to be satisfying in the long run. like as a certified hater i wish i could find out all the people i hated the most were actually serving some evil rage god and were trying to destroy the world. they're living the dream

Do you think Fig ever came out to any of her parents? Or did she just show up with a girlfriend?
I always wonder if that was a conversation she had with Sandra Lynn, especially. And if so when did it happen? Has Fig known she was queer since middle school? Or is this a freshman year revelation? Or on spring break of Sophomore year did she see Ayda and go, "Oh fuck! I'm into women!"
Obviously she doesn't need to come out. She's in a sapphic relationship, calls herself Ayda's paramour and refers to her girlfriend so it's pretty obvious to everyone close to her. But I'm curious if at some point when they had a moment she was like, "btw I'm bi" (or whatever the case may be, idk if her canonical sexuality has been mentioned.)
Kristen realizing she's a lesbian and coming out was an important character arc for her. A big deal. And I don't think Fig needs that because her circumstances are so different and it's great to have a variety of queer stories—the hard ones where coming out means leaving home and a bigoted family/support system and starting over with new people; and the easy ones where you just one day show up with a girlfriend and no one calls attention to the fact it's a same-sex relationship and everyone's supportive; and all the stories in between.
I'm just curious if it's a conversation she had with Sandra Lynn, Gilear or Gorthalax at some point and whether it was more her coming out or if it was after Ayda and just her parents checking in.

sometimes i feel like the people who are saying the bad kids should have tried conflict resolution instead of fighting are watching the same show i am. first off every single season thus far with the ih has ended with a huge battle so why would you expect this one not to? secondly like i like the rat grinders as much as the next person but you can’t negotiate with people that are canonically 100% blinded by rage. like i would consider the idea of some other resolution than killing them if it seemed possible but like put urself in their shoes? they’re a bunch of teenagers who have been tormented by other teenagers and told that they’re the privileged ones by people getting power leveled by teachers. i’m certain they all know the ‘big bad’ is porter (and jace but he was also shatter starred so idk) but that doesn’t change the fact they’re also fucking mad. but like totally genuinely if someone explained to me a plausible situation where porters plan gets thwarted without a fight i might be able to see it but all i’ve seen is people saying ‘conflict resolution’ and ‘talk it out’ like we’re in kindergarten and the other team doesn’t have ninth level spell slots. maybe that sounds harsh but i’m open to listening if someone actually thinks there’s a plausible way for it to end without fighting/without killing the rat grinders. cause i can’t see it unless the entire season changes from like basically the beginning.

Also! I'm still not convinced that Brennan would make the BBEG of the season a group of literal children, which leaves space for my next theory: The true (and much sadder) reason none of the Rat Grinders were at Frosty Fair is because they just...didn't care that Ruben was performing. Because they aren't actually his friends

One note I did have about the trailer is that I think the "you're dangerously close to being expelled" comment is towards Fig specifically rather than the entire party. All the reactions they use for that part, even the "Riz is so mad" line, are spliced from other scenes (judging by the different backgrounds). It also possibly sounds like Fig's replying line is spliced at the beginning, maybe to change it from "I saved the world" to "we saved the world"? So to me it seems like they were trying to frame that as a group thing when it wasn't.
I'm not quite sure who she's talking to there. Brennan is definitely not doing enough of a voice for it to be Principal Aguefort or VP Gilear. My next guess would be Jawbone (logically your guidance counselor would be where you go to for this kind of thing), but again the voice Brennan is doing is a bit too unaccented. Maybe its Sandralynn, or even a new faculty character?
Now this doesn't mean that Fig is the only one in trouble academically. I believe Kristen's "you're allowed to fail a certain number of classes each semester" and the "You have perfect grades, but that still might not be enough" towards Riz are from the same scene. So its clear they all got called into Someone's Office to discuss how they aren't on track to graduate. However I think Fig is the only one who is being threatened with expulsion. She doesn't go to her classes, distrusts and even threatens certain faculty members, and likely has a habit of skipping. The other Bad Kids don't have the same record of bad behavior, so I really don't think expulsion would be on the table for them, as kooky as Aguefort may be.

Ppl saying the bad kids attacking the ratgrinders with as much vitriol and anger as they are doesn't make sense and like... One, have you met teenagers but also there is literal rage in the air and the ground and a god of rage is coming through the ground like... Idk if this is intentional on the intrepid heroes part (they're certainly clever enough roleplayers for it to be) but it absolutely makes sense for the literal rage particles in the air to affect them, as we've been seeing it affect people all throughout the season

I was kinda dreading the “Brennan railroading or being a bad DM” posts bc I had a feeling they were coming. At the end of the day, If the table is having fun literally who cares.
This is a table full of comedians that can and will commit so hard to the bit that it becomes an entire 2 hours where nothing gets accomplished. With this being a show, you can’t do that.
For everything with Fig/Emily she’s a phenomenal player that will go above and beyond, she thinks outside of the box and she’s the player I aspire to be BUT that’s also a DMs nightmare sometimes because you have to decide what you do and don’t take seriously. Like.. I genuinely think if Emily could’ve avoided picking exactly what she wanted Fig to multi class in, she absolutely would’ve for as long as possible because that’s exactly what fig /would/ do. But because there’s a narrative to tell, Brennan has to do some reigning in. There’s probably a ton of behind the scenes conversations from DM to player to decide what direction their characters should go in.
The stakes are high for the party especially when Fig and Kristen potentially failing could lead to the entire group becoming pass/fail. Fig not committing to a class could’ve fucked a lot up and sent the entire season in a completely different direction. Which, in a home game wouldn’t be too detrimental if you’re doing theater of the mind but yall, they have sets and different plot threads and beats the HAVE TO be hit.
Do I hate that on paper fig is a barbarian now purely because it was a call that Porter made to spite Fig & Gorgug? YES. But if Fig had the choice to keep doing fuck all, it would’ve been bad for everyone in game especially when downtime and stress tokens are in the mix. Having Emily roll with a high chance of failing with like.. 4 different academic tracks would be just as scary if not more than it already is with Zac’s rolls for Gorgug. Some thing has to give and if it makes at least one person’s life easier then I think it was the right call to get that MCAT signed. She fully had the chance to have the bard teacher sign and didn’t. That’s a consequence of actions
