Connecting dots tonight (didn't connect shit, I've connected them, etc) because of this post about item descriptions to do with Sampo I saw a few days ago and! I feel like there are so many interesting things that could be implied from this!! Because the recipe for the High-Tech Protective Gear is given to you by Bronya (before the IPC invaded Belobog!), who says this little interesting tidbit about it:
This is an item from before the Eternal Freeze, 700 years ago. Even to the rest of the universe, it would be SORELY outdated. It cannot be made in Belobog anymore due to the loss of entire eras. It is effectively useless; this recipe had to be somewhere gathering dust, kept around solely for archival purposes. There is no reason for Sampo to know about this item or have any idea how it works and yet. AND YET. He's just running around selling knock offs!!
He shouldn't even know how to make these, but the fact that he does means Sampo either
had the blueprints from off-world before he came to Belobog (most likely but also most boring answer)
broke into Qlipoth Fort and copied down the blueprints (completely plausible - he's possibly shown doing exactly that in his splash art)
found another copy out in the ruins of the old world (also completely plausible - Sampo is astoundingly resilient against both the Fragmentum and the cold, as noted by Lynx haha)
Meanwhile, the Inferior Protective Gear recipe comes from an NPC in the underground, and when she gives it to you, she talks about building robots and the robot fighting scene sorry about the quality I didn't have screenshots for her dialogue so I had to use wiki
Which makes me feel like it's safe to say that the inferior gear is mostly being used in the underground, especially by the vagrants and their robots for fights, because...well, who else would use it? Cocolia has made it illegal to explore too far into the Snow Plains, and besides, it's way too dangerous for most civilians even WITH gear. The Silvermane Guards are funded by official sources, they have no reason to rely on Sampo for armor. So it makes sense for an underground mechanic to know the recipe; there's probably not as much market for it up in the overworld.
And if you look at the descriptions, you can see why this probably wasn't something that could be made in Belobog anymore; it requires a charging system of some sort.
We know it's not a problem with the basic materials because all three ingredients can be found right in the administrative district. But the underground only has two of them; somehow, despite being in the planet's crust, and literally crawling with robots...there is no metal down there. It isn't found anywhere, sold by anyone, or dropped by anything. And metal just so happens to be the one ingredient Sampo replaces in his knock off version.
The Inferior Gear uses trash instead, something which, going by the words of that same mechanic, is MORE than abundant in the underground- any good quality parts are extremely difficult to come by down there.
Anyway, all his shadiness aside, I love the implication that Sampo is smart enough to be able to take this item that no one else on the planet probably knows anything about, and was able to figure out what he could replace, and how, and with what, in order to make it easily accessible to the people of the underground, even without access to overworld resources. Because his version DOES work! It literally gives you the exact same amount of defense boost as the IPC one!

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.

my family being the poster child for divorce is interesting because on the one hand there are several people who child me considered just regular family members who are now no longer in my life in any capacity which was really destabilizing but on the other hand now as an adult the concept of relationships changing and ending is so normal to me and i feel like that's actually a really useful outlook to have. also, the fact that several of my relatives' current significant others annoy the crap out of me is more bearable because it's like, wellllll, just give them a few years and they'll be outta here. lol.
#my stepdad who is now divorced from my mom is still in my life and that's the most important one to me#because he is my parent and helped raise me. he called me just yesterday actually#i was worried when they got divorced that he would also fade out of my life but he's always considered me one of his kids just like#his two biological kids. and it helped when my heater broke last year and i had to go live with him for a month#he loved that haha#my mom's current boyfriend is soooo annoying but i'm making it work largely by ignoring him whenever it's not rude to do so#what i love about being in groups of people rather than one on one is there's always someone else to respond to whoever's talking#and i can just sit there and not make eye contact with anyone and not say anything. IDEAL#it occurred to me very recently that this might be seen as rude for some people? but my family is completely used to it so 👍#my posts

I was scrolling Pinterest and I kept finding panels from the manga of Neito getting knocked out. Him being overdramatic doesn’t give anyone an excuse to knock him out and drag him by the collar. He gets karate chopped to the back of the neck so frequently no one blinks an eye at the fact that he is getting punched by someone who is strong enough to crush tungsten with just her fists. Also, he only acts overdramatic around Class A, his classmates know he’s not like that all the time, and it would be fine to just drag him away while he’s still conscious. It’s one thing when he’s saying things like the whole “Bakugou caused the downfall of all might” to provoke people, or when he’s fighting dirty, but when he’s just getting carried away laughing manically, there’s zero reason to knock him unconscious and drag him across the floor.

#Doodles#UT#Handplates#Gaster#Wobbledogs#Sometimes media flooding bleeds over into other interests at the same time and yes that is my only justification for this lol#I'm always most amused by the sequence of things lol - I'd already started in on Handplates again but then got very diverted by Wobbledogs#Which is especially weird to me because I was introduced to the game like half a year ago and it didn't really grab me#It's cute but eh it's fine - and then I watched a proper lightly edited playlist not like jumpcut-jumpcut-jumpcut#That can make for a very punchy one-off but it doesn't really reflect the gameplay loop#So actually getting to see it properly made the difference and I kinda Get It now and also kinda want to own the game lol#MeanWhile - Ghoster's been hanging out as my desktop buddy literally /while/ watching and I was getting new ideas on that front#They smushed together lol#Having him onscreen is just a good excuse to do a quick once-over style of study and follow some silly ideas haha#What would Gaster think of a progressive mutation type game ♪ Watching them grow watching them struggle to walk#Only uses the scold feature - or the worse option that he treats the dogs better than the skelebros noooo haha#Pretty much all of the creatures in Undertale are sentient to some degree aren't they :0 Wobbledogs are just dogs#They're not monsters but they're not humans but they're not exactly just dogs either - just little creachurs haha#It's fun to imagine him nurturing anyone or anything haha ♪ Goes from ''???'' to ''How can I help this reach their full potential''#Whatever ''potential'' means in his own context hehe#It's cute in its own way

Everyone taking the Steamboat Willie design and making it do things Disney wouldn't sanction like....
you could have done that anyway. Disney would not have sued you for that. He didn't need to be in the public domain for you to do that.
Disney would have had a problem with you if you tried to sell Steamboat Willie. Not that you made him swear ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Public Domain is about being able to sell your version of the character, not "do whatever you like with it for free". You could do whatever you like with it on the internet anyway, you will not face consequence. Just as long as you didnt try to make money off of it - no one was going to come after you.

#(sorry for the sudden post but hmmm)#(I cant tell if I am just not into bsd as much as other people)#(or if its simply bc Im just not as opinionated)#(the current story arc has gotten so far and like woah that I don't feel like super excited or shocked whenever there's a new update)#(either that or seeing everyones complaints about everything kinda dampens the excitement)#(tbh I really enjoyed up to like the guild arc but once it got into the whole like fyodor business my brain stopped)#(its interesting but maybe I just like happy endings too much haha)#(I dont talk to anyone in the fandom but I feel like it is very negative(#(hence the reason why I dont really interact outside of posting these drawings every once in a while)#(I like slice of life stuff I suppose and all this is too much haha I much prefer bsd wan honestly)#(itd probably be easier to just ignore the fandom or so)#(but its a bit difficult to do when I wanna see cool art and cool ideas too)#(I dont know)#(maybe bc I dont remember much from the manga but I dont feel as negative as others)#(sorry this was really long hahaha)#(I think I just dont want to feel alone again)#(though I dont have any mutuals so I guess I kinda already am haha)#(🌟🌟 it makes me happy if even one person likes my drawings or ideas)#(makes me feel like I can do it)#(and not feel so negative about something I quite enjoy!)

I'm in a place where I need to be smothered with love for a day or two to feel right again but I don’t really have anyone I can just ask that of in a few simple words and my hunger is making me feral and angry which puts meaningful human connection further and further out of reach. Truly a most unfortunate spiral.
#and it's like when you are an introvert and you are in a new city where you didnt know anyone before#ya it takes time to make friends#and sometimes you have false starts -- people move away#or don't have time for you l#and you just have to persevere and keep trying and connections will form#AND i have at least 3 people where if i said im rly going thru it atm can you pls make time for me#they would. and they wouldnt even begrudge it#but#no one died you know what i mean? i cant justify saying haha yeah im feeling feral and insane and lonely for no reason#sigh
