hello! just wanted to stop by and ask how that omo week is treating you. the individual days seem doable but all 7 in a row seems like a real enduranc
It's honestly been mostly inconvenient, haha. Drawing out everything for the comic I wanna do takes a while, and I've been mostly regressing back into old dehydration methods, drinking not even half what I did on Monday (since Tues had personal stuff as stated, and I just had to send my car in for work today meaning I had exactly 1 public bathroom chance at 3 pm n can't go anywhere else for the rest of the day). As a result my bladder has kinda just been perpetually at a slightly achey 4 or 5, noticeable but manageable. Also I know things are just going to get worse so I've been takin it a bit easy (Thurs n Fri are gonna be a challenge lmao). On the plus side I've already learned more about my limits n abilities, just little things I probably wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't on a 24/7 challenge like this, and I might look into those a bit more :3
I will say that even though I've cut the occasional corner, I'm still going strong, and I'll be posting Monday's comic a bit later I think! It's been the most interesting day so far, hehe!

Starting to think this really is a me thing, but like I guess I've never viewed fashion so simply as "if the way you are dressing is bad, just dress differently, it's a choice". Maybe it's because I have sensory issues but I legit have always dressed in clothing that Is Comfortable. That is my be-all-end-all goal. Practically, comfort, and then stuff that I think looks nice. And every time someone has like, tried to get me to dress differently because I'm "doing it wrong" I just end up feeling uncomfortable and going back to what I used to wear. (Once I even had a bully tell me that they wanted to sign me up for 'What Not To Wear' and when someone explained the show to me I was like "oh, okay, so my worst fucking nightmare"). And that's not to say I don't change my style or try new stuff out or whatever, or sometimes what I find comfortable changes, but like....if the clothes I find comfortable go out of style I don't care, I'm just going to keep wearing them because they're comfortable.
And like, now with my knee braces basically the only pants I can wear with them are yoga pants, and I know people think just wearing yoga pants is "bad" but like, I have to wear my braces as close to my skin as possible, the skinniest of skinny jeans are still thick enough to get in the way, and I HATE skirts so like, I have to wear yoga pants. This is not a choice. And if someone mocked me for it and tried to justify it as "I just want you to wear more flattering clothes" I would be pissed bcs it's not a fucking choice and I don't care if it's flattering, I care about not fucking up my knees!
I guess I just find it interesting that people do view fashion as something that is easy to change, because for me it really isn't.

Gives you a soft smile as he takes the ticket. " Thank you MC, how thoughtful of you." He presses a soft kiss on the top of your head before heading back to his study.
Leaves it on his desk for two days, lost in his stacks of paperwork. It's only when he finally decides to clean his desk and finds the ticket is when he scratches it off.
Widens his eyes slightly at the winning ticket. Casually stuffs it in his suit pocket and goes about his day as normal.
Never tells you he won it, but since he has the ability to load cash in to your account he deposits 9 million Grimm in to your savings account. He wouldn't dare keep all the winnings to himself, especially since his darling MC bought it for him.
He'll only tell you he won the ticket when you notice 9 million grimm in your account.
Refuses to take the grimm back. He loves you and wants you to be financially secure. Just please for the love of Diavolo do not tell Mammon.

On the way home while you're asleep in his arms, he orders both of you ice cream to enjoy at home when you wake up.
Secretly snuck a few forehead kisses while carrying you.

Ok hihi! I was wondering how you did research on Ling speaking Chinese (?) In your fics! I want to add some stuff with my OCS speaking Chinese in my book but I am not entirely too sure on how to properly conduct research, so I was wondering how you do it? /Genq
Also I love your writing it has such a good flow and you write Ed and Ling so well!
Hi there!! First of all: I'm so flattered you came to me for advice? Idk what that says about my handling of the language but damn if the gesture didn't make me smile.
I worked with Mandarin Chinese for my fic specifically, which in Google translate, that would be Simplified Chinese. But keep in mind there are other dialects to work with, like Cantonese Chinese I believe?
Anyway, first and foremost:
Do NOT rely on Google translate for sentence translations. It served me fine for individual words, but honestly? Even for a simple "fuck" or "shit," I looked at forums and Reddit discussions and such for "authentic" answers from actual Chinese-speaking folks. I found that "local" answers listed some wild things that are common day speaking and Google translate simply doesn't include some of those wild things. Which is a damn shame.
Basic phrases I did the same thing, asking Google "how to say such and such in Chinese" and scrolling down to discussions online. It's how I learned it's apparently common to curse people by using "your mom" as "fuck/fuck you." I had a blast with that one.
What also greatly helped me though was researching basic Chinese grammar for myself. Luckily, the language is surprisingly simple with it having no verb conjugations, and question formations and word placements seem fairly straightforward! So looking into the grammar was a lot less work than I expected and genuinely it was kinda fascinating. I know I definitely got way too into it.
This much attention to detail ofc will eat up time from you. I spent hours longer than intended to verify my sentences as Not Butchering The Language. But it was worth it in the end because I wanted to do the language right, and I wanted to respect it. I'm bilingual myself and I've seen the bullshit Google translate spouts back at you in my language. It's. It's not wrong, but it's also not what people say on a day to say basis, you know? And you want your characters to sound real, not like AIs.
So, FOR EXAMPLE. If you wanna make up a phrase that roughly means, say, "fuck on a dragon's spine..."
My process would be to look up, in order:
The individual words in the sentence, each. So "fuck," "dragon," and "spine." (Via Google translate)
The prepositions, "on" and the possessive in "dragon's." (Via Google search)
Basic sentence structure so you can put it all together. (Google search) (try to specify if you mean a statement sentence or a question or an exclamation, etc)
And then, bonus step, look at similar sentences in the language to gauge if yours sounds legit next to them!
All this wonderful research leads to the sentence of: Cāo zài lóng de jí — 操在龙的脊
It's a lot of work for just one sentence, but languages aren't one and done props for our stories either. The best respect we can give these languages is by researching them properly and putting the time and effort into getting them right. Even if it means spending an hour over one sentence or two.
At least, that's been my work ethic so far about it. I can't speak nor decide for you, but I hope my response inspires that kind of gusto from you too! :)

Saegenfolk Reworks -- How I'm thinking about my pastel-goth Chinese-Viking fusion culture
Okay, so, as some of you may know, I am working on updating my Saegen culture to have more elements of my birth culture -- cuz, I legit don't know enough about it so this is a great way to learn and then like... mind-palace it into my worldbuilding (yes, I just verbed "mind-palace"). And guess what? I just finished my first sketches of a rework of the whole culture!!! <3 <3 <3 I'm REALLY pleased, it's really reasonating with me now in a way Saegen culture NEVER was <3
So, let's go over what some of the different stuff is -- Top to bottom, left to right... And I AM open to feedback and thoughts and, in fact, I encourage it <3 I consent to advice!
First thing to notice is the Saegen now have a color scheme that isn't jewel-toned red and gold… because the SVANHIK people are red and gold. I experimented with Green and Teal for the Northern lights -- but Green felt really weird. It made them too elfy. And Teal is already Telethens' color. Nouveau Thuille is purple/navy blue/black… So instead of making the red more jewel-toned, I took it towards Cyberpunk Neon/Barbie pink. Why? This is Asarlai's color in their culture now. Asarlai is the father of humanity and god of magic (up North) So wearing pink is super fatherly, magical, and clever. We still have black because black plants just work good in these near-underground settings -- absorbing waaay more light. So now the Saegen aesthetic is now like… pastel-goth Chinese-Vikings.
Next, we have the FASHION! The fashion is very very specifically stolen from the silhouette of Hanfu, just with more fur and different materials. I imagine it being Rumateur wool, but also leather and dyed animal skins and maybe bamboo silks and so forth. We still have elaborate braids and wavy hair, but in my mind, their eyes are all like the Sakha people or something. They still use their hands to paint their faces -- typically for sunscreening/snow-glare/sea-glare reduction reasons as well as receiving Asarlai's blessing. And while Thuilleans prefer silver metals, they prefer gold. This is just a contrast thing.
Next next: Houses! They mostly build out of these silvery bamboo stalks that grow under the Upper Continent. I really like these tent-like silhouettes to their houses -- with littler tents stacked atop each other. They also have igloo-like, bulb-shaped homes for temp shelters! Their ships are like dragons with their wings and blade-armored fronts (mostly for ice, but also fighting). And some even ride small whale-landsharks with sealskin saddles ❤️
Weapons and tools wise: They're really well known for their Ysse lanterns (I mean, EVERYONE IS but for different reasons). Theirs are all a really pretty pink -- the "purest form of Ysse light" (Not really.) -- and have the teardrop bulb shape. But they look like these warm, nutrient restoring fungi that naturally grow (or probably a god put them there) in Saegenheim. They also have guns (which have magic bulbs that, when struck, blast out fire. So really, they're flamethrowers but I don't like the way that sounds lol). They also use these Tang-dynasty-inspired swords and poleaxes pretty commonly.
Animal and creature wise: Their rumateurs are much bigger and bulkier -- more cattle-like thanks to the flatter plains around Saegenheim -- than the more lithe, leapy rumateurs of the Nouveau Thuillean valley. They also keep artic bunnies (even though the're considered mild pests in Nouveau Thuille) as easy food and sometimes even hunt seals. However, they have to be super careful not to murder their selkie brethren -- it is generally wiser not-to hunt seals because they might be a selkie -- and instead just ask seals for their molted skins (which they molt in one, thick slough once a year) or milk to make cheese or kumis. Not-shown: They also heavily rely on Butterflies of the Heart for Honey, Wax, and Mead --because despite their name, they're actually bees.
Above the Saegenheim cave are these enclosed plains of black bamboo forests. A currently unnamed but critically important fungus grows in tandem with the bamboo and is part of the bamboo's natural life cycle. I'm not entirely sure, but maybe something like the bamboo grows up and starts putting out leaves to photosynthesize, to pump back into the ground. The fungus feeds on the bamboo but then helps it spread further and also, gives the bamboo nutrients back in the winter. And eventually, the fungus eats the dead stalks WHILE fixing the soil for the new growth?
Regardless, the Saegen people eat this fungus as one of their staple foods.
They also eat a ground-fungus that the rumateurs and bunnies eat up here that grows small and under the frost but VERY PERSISTENTLY, much to everyone's surprise (it's the 5" one). It also works with the bamboo and tree fungus to make this really weirdly balanced flow of nutrients in and out of the soil with the seasons.
The ground fungus is usually dried, ground up, and then used for soups or baked goods (like flat breads or meat loafs.) Meanwhile, the tree fungus is usually eaten without grining but still boiled/fried/baked OR dried and ground up and brewed to make coffee. ((This is where the Northerners get their coffee -- the coffee is a lie, they are perpetually drinking an American Civil War Confederate coffee substitute XDDDDD But at least their coffee usually has good protein, micronutrients, and caffeine-like substances, unlike real Civil War coffee substitute LOL))
So Saegenheim is now in the Womb of the World, (the environment sketch) taller and this tree-like fungus grows that is also edible and can act as a meat-substitute nutrient-wise BUT it grows much slower, so it is carefully monitored by the Sages so they don't fuck it up.
Speaking of the Womb of the World -- this warm, damp refuge in the otherwise hostile, VERY NORTHERN part of the tundra is a cave warmed by the specific way the permanent Ysse Springs interact with the stones here -- warming the cave to very liveable temperatures year round. The Sages of Saegenheim have built their home here to honor the Gods who brought forth all of humanity. However, most Saegenfolk do not live here year round -- they are semi-nomadic, in that they go to the same few places and settle for the season. Different royal families will lead their people to different places, but those who can afford it will return to winter in the safe, reliable Saegenheim to catch up on news and celebrate Godsweek. They hang new pink lanterns in the streets at the beginning of every new year.
And lastly, when they aren't in Saegenheim, the Saegenfolk are often sailing. And this means they are hunting whale-landsharks, sea serpents, shrimp, and artic carp (articarp, if you will XD).
Now this closeness of location and similarity of lifestyle and respect of the Sages and Gods may lead you to believe that the Saegens are cooperative, extended-family-oriented folks.
No.
Due to the harshness of the environment, a great deal of emphasis is placed on survivability and military. And when everyone is seeking to be better, then you cannot rest for even a moment or you will fall behind. If you are not young enough to be trying to get stronger/cleverer/better/more useful, then you better be teaching others to get there or you're useless. And useless things are to be cast off…
Every family has its own sort of military hazing rituals that involve ridiculously long, cruel, and unnecessary training hours. Admittedly, it's a well-rounded education but there are all these weirdly specific judgements about you, depending on what kind of instruments, weapons, poetry, and cooking recipes you know. And even though your extended family will provide you food and teach you and find your more private tutors as you grow up… you will be constantly compared to your cousins. If you are worse than even one, you are pressed like you are worthless. If you are better than all your cousins and siblings by 200%… why is it not 250%? 300%? You cannot ever be Enough in Saegen culture.
Unless you're a Sage. Sages are judged by entirely different standard. But the number of people who try to become Sages and fail is also… quite large.

On the topic of fics and the need to feed our authors. I legit have been away from fandom for like...7 years? And I can't figure out if making fic rec posts on Tumblr is still a thing, or if it's now....frowned upon?
Used to be that people would make a list of their fave fics, or of fics all in one category, tag the authors on Tumblr, and it was awesome.
It was great for finding new fics AND for the author. Coming across one of those lists with your name on it...ahhh....there was nothing like it!!! 😍😍
Ugh, I am the wrooooong person to ask stuff like that about.
I love sharing fics I love, especially the small rare-pair fics or ones that are just SO well written, with great charaterisations and storylines etc, but I'm only new to Tumblr/fandom and only recently got my AO3 account properly. The only ones I see get much circulations are the ones I look at as the 'cool kids', be it they have their feet well-placed/well-earned within the fandom. Or because the authors update and reshare them frequently. Or because they're about a bigger, more embraced/celebrated ship. I dunno.
The only way I think I've managed to show up anywhere is because I've flooded the Sokabine tag to the annoyance of others (not hard to do when not much other work is appearing in it, but then not many people are looking there either).
So whether it's a 'thing' or not, or if it's 'not cool' anymore or not, I have no frakking idea. I've never been cool for a moment in my life, and I'm only just leaning back into the idea of "fuck what everyone else thinks, do what is right for you."
So if that's what you want to do, DO IT! Maybe you can make your own blog about fic recs, or just do it on this one. I'm flattered I managed to be on one of those lists you found, but potentially I was only there because I've made myself so irritatingly loud in some places I can't be ignored 🙈

Reading through Bodyguard Enid AU. I'm becoming obsessed. I love taller (even though it's not that difficult to be taller than me) and/or buffer people, they're beautiful.
Like I legit have a character for like my own stuff who's 7'0 because of his genetics and he's buff because he's military (love him fr).

Also, while we're on the subject of underrated cards, Thin Veil. It's a crime that it's behind a paywall, but also, like, it kinda sucks that we don't have cards that kinda reference Artem's love of drama performance more. Come on, like what about a cute card (inspired by the fanart by emijiajia with Artem in Singing In the Rain attire), where he indulges a bit in that interest of his? I think it'd be cute to think about. Like, as a fan of classics, I'd find it hard to believe that Artem hasn't once thought about trying to replicate that scene of Singing In the Rain, when it's raining outside. Or like, what about a really cute card where Rosa finds Artem's box of classic movies and just surprises the heck of him (after nearly scaring him) by just endearingly trying to copy the scene to bring a smile to his face? She'd get all wet and stuff in the rain and then Artem would ask about it, and she'd mention that she noticed his brow had been furrowed more often lately and that she wanted to make him smile. And then judt end with them cuddling on the couch watching the movie together, while the rain continues to fall outside. Ah, the dream. Lol (sorry for the long text wall, I just had thoughts, and needed to get them out.)

OKAY Can I just say, you confused the shit out of me 😂 sorry but let me explain.
So I was looking through the plus size reader tag on AO3. Just looking for some good fat girl representation. And I came across a fic that was Hector Morvant-Casares/Reader. I didn't recognize what it was from so I googled it and NOTHING but mortuaries and tumblr links came up.
I clicked the tumblr link thinking it'd explain what show or movie or podcast etc this fandom was from. It did not. But I saw the face claims on your page and went to the actors imdb pages to see if anything came up. Nothing.
Long story short, it took me way too long to realize this was completely original work (and frankly I'm still not 100% sure if I'm right so 🤷♀️). I'm definitely going to be reading this but holy shit, I felt like a dog chasing it's own tail for a good 30 minutes. Bless you for making me laugh at myself today.

This is so flattering and kind and unbelievably special to me. You have no idea. When people who read my stuff can connect to a specific part or sentence, I legit cry because it's everything I want to achieve with my writing, and it sheds some perspective on things. It's extremely validating and makes me not want to ever give up on one day publishing something (which is kind of one of my life goals--short stories or poetry).

They never talked about the slow escalation of what could be written off as buddies with no boundaries - sitting too close on the couch and wrestling with too much touching - into a full-blown friends with benefits situation, neither of them willing (or able, in Nolan’s case) to stop the seemingly inevitable march from a frantic hand down the others’ sweats to sloppily making out during slow hand jobs, Nolan craving TK’s skin under his teeth, leaving bruises they passed off as hockey injuries, to blowjobs and finally, to Nolan discovering that nothing had ever come close to making him feel as good as TK does when he fucks him.

outside on my laptop. we have these fancy tall adirondack chairs that my stepdad made us and i love writing in mine on the deck. mine has a little thingy added to the footrest bc i'm short af so that my feet can touch the footrest bc normal people furniture doesn't work for my short ass legs.

no, i don't, absolutely not. i do not enjoy my hobbies giving me goddamn homework. i will do research for a totally inane detail that no one cares about (i'm looking at you, LA Zoo map) but will go to great lengths to avoid actual legit research for fic.
20. Do you prefer writing AUs or canon fics?
oooh i like both but overall probably canon fics. trying to fit what i want to write into the canon puzzle is really fun, and i think i'm better at that than transposing canon characters and plot points into a new universe.
25. What’s your favorite part of the writing process (worldbuilding, brainstorming/outlining, writing, editing, etc)?
BRAINSTORMING. god so fun. if the fics could just pop out of my brain once i form a coherent idea i'd be the most prolific writer in the world. coming up with 1-2 fic ideas in a day is totally normal for me i live for that shit. and then i want to read the thing i brainstormed about and occasionally actually sit down to write it. SIGH.
28. What area of writing do you want to improve in?
i write fic for fun, so i don't take myself too seriously or worry too much about what i'm bad at, but i struggle to write kissing? i will jump to something smuttier in a second because writing emotional, hot, exactly the vibe you want making out is fucking HARD. i need to work at it a bit i think.
48. Who is your favorite character to write for? Has this changed since you’ve started writing for that fandom?
i don't think i have one? wait maybe melissa mccall? if i have an opportunity to work her into a fic i do it. i love her so much.
51. Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read?
no not really. i love to read and write porn, and angst, and sometimes fluff. i like to read and write a variety of stuff. i do love to read longfics, and writing 30k was an act of suffering, so there's an area of discprencancy. i also like reading au's way more than i like writing them. (i'm not opposed if i have an au idea thats just not usually where my mind goes).

oh i don't know. i think i'm so flustered and flattered by every genuine compliment that i'm not capable of cataloguing them.

Hello! I just wanted to pass by and say that this was a 100% me when I finished A Ghost Story. It is the best destiel fic I've ever read and I am a complete utter disaster for it. This fic just clutched my heart into its claws and never gave it back. I have this immense ache in my chest because I'm mourning having finished it. I wish I could erase my memory so I can experience reading this story for the 1st time again. I'm so damn happy I found this fic because the amount of happiness that it brought me can't compare to anything else!
Also, oh Gosh, I know Dean Winchester and Dean Wesson are the same person but idk why I couldn't help but fall utterly and completely in love with Dean Wesson! He's so fucking sweet he gives me toochache! He legit built a whole ass garden for Castiel!!!! If a guy doesn't put as much effort as Dean put then what's the point! The way he loved Castiel just made me swoon so hard! I felt like my feet would never land on the ground bc I swear I flew off to another dimension! It made me so happy whenever he would make Castiel smile!
Also I'm still not over (spoiler alert!) That he fucking made it!!!! He fucking made it in timeeeeeeeee!!! And that fucking kills meeeeeeee! He went to get his love back and then... and then... FUUUUCK I can't!!! Both outcomes killed me either way. Dean making it and then that happening vs Cas sacrificing himself and Dean having to witness that! 😭😭😭😭😭 like my heart can't take this suffering!
Anyways, Dean Wesson, my beloved, has my heart in every sense of the word ❤️
Dean and Cas were literally so much fun to read throughout the whole story. I was invested in every aspect! The highs, the lows, the angst, the fluff, just EVERYTHING! Their love story was truly magical!
Thank you so much for gifting us such an extraordinary and captivating story! I swear it became one of my all time favorites!

lmao i also love dean wesson. even though he was the one who was the hunter, there was still something so innocent and pure about him. he didn't have two lifetimes of trauma to deal with. and i do think that, even though dean didn't remember the way he died, he still subconsciously did and it made him very closed off and very protective of his heart in a way that dean wesson tried to be but never really was. for me, it's kinda like - the difference between who a person is when they're young and in their first puppy love vs. when they're older and have had their heart broken. so i'm glad that difference was able to come across in some way between the same character in different time periods. thanks for sharing your thoughts on that.

I see you've been feeling a bit unappreciated but I rarely come across other people with such an unfathomable adoration for Eggman - your posts have brought me so much joy and I've read some of them legit several times because I enjoy them so much. I love your versions of modern and casino too and I feel like they're unique and rare and loveable like the way you write as they are spot on to preference and never boring, rendering your posts/canons/ship irreplaceable to me by any other. Still making my way through the #vckinkweek tag but I just wanted to let you know Hey Pretty wrecked me in ways I could never have imagined 🥺 I went in like "oh, look, post-canon Armand/Daniel as told by @desertfangs? At a bar? With Armand watching Daniel mack on some guy? Let's put it right at the top of the list, yk as a little treat 😌" and then 5 paragraphs in I was legit tearing up lmfao. I was NOT expecting to be smacked across the face with this: "As if they’d never left. As if they’d never had any rift. As if Armand had not tried to end things. As if Daniel had not gone mad. Armand swallowed around the lump forming in his throat. Years of regret and fear suddenly overwhelmed him. Daniel had been back with him for mere weeks but now at this party, the time they’d lost hit him like a tsunami and the fear that it might happen again constricted his chest."
Your grasp on their post-canon dynamics is truly elite. They're so relieved to have each other back, still so undeniably into each other, committed to making it work, but so uncertain 🥺 it's only been a few weeks since they got back together and the thought of this reunion of theirs being only temporaty drives them insane. It feels very true to their journey together and you always manage to capture the mood perfectly. Tender, sensual, bittersweet, 10/10 no further notes. I just love them in that period, it's so fun but a little fraught and tense and they just love each other so much but they have so much to resolve and work through! Oof! It's good for angst and comfort and connection!
And as you say, the fear of it collapsing again and them being split apart absolutely makes both of them crazy and it's so fun to explore that fear and trauma (and they have a lot of unresolved trauma given what's happened) and how it manifests and how they react to each other.
I didn't mean to make this one sentimental as heck but I'm glad it turned out that way! The thing with Armand and Daniel is you set out to write smut and they take it to angsty or weird places. (And sometimes you set out to write something deep and sentimental and Daniel won't stop staring at Armand's throat and having dirty thoughts! Alas!)
But I'm really, truly proud of this fic and I think it's honestly one of the best things I've written lately so I'm over the moon that you liked it!!
Now go read the other 10 million awesome fics! LOL! I still need to catch up myself, there was so much delicious content for kinkweek!

omg dude, i remember literally crying over your work “a story rewritten” when i first read it about a year ago because isekai stories are top tier mygod 👌👌👌 and your story is literally the first and only fic i found that goes under that genre. so i definitely made up my mind to take the time to find that webtoon you were talking about in your note.
anyways, i legit just finished chapter one of this newly encountered manhwa i am reading and holy god, all the emotions are coming back all of the sudden. when the male lead here turned into a zombie, i just knew i found what ive been looking for for over a year (even if i forgot about it after giving up after a week of searching lol). o m g, i need to read “a story rewritten” again just to emote about it.

since this is already such a long ask, ill just say whatever is remaining in my mind. i often recall “a story rewritten” in the most random times, usually in class because i get sleepy so much. so every once in a while, id come back to read it again. nothing beats the first reading though. i remember being overwhelmed and so emotional LMAO.
it kinda became a comfort fic and legit the sole reason why i would come back to tumblr every now and then. took a break from reading fics in general since december to continue my manga/manhwa spree. but your work makes me feel nostalgic so much, UHM IDK WHY THOUGH,,,,
