#but I’m not making fucking ai art
I hate people who are like “AI allows me to do these things I wanted to do but can’t because I suck at it” do you think that every person before AI didn’t suck at what they were good at? Do you think it’s worth stealing other people’s passions so you can pretend you’re good at something instead of trying?

i feel like i’ve been WAITING for the other shoe to drop wrt people’s opinions about watcher for this very reason. not that i think the reaction is completely not understandable but the greater the parasocial relationship, the greater the fallout as soon as public opinion shifts. you don’t have a relationship with these people they’re just content creators, chill
#ready to see all the people coming out of the woodwork to say how they’ve never liked watcher/unsolved/etc#and act like it’s ‘cringe’ now that their fanbase feels ‘betrayed’#it’s great to have a fanbase but parasocial relationships will bite you in the ass every single time#it’s interesting too though because i’ve seen watcher have a LOT of support as they’ve tried to build something separate from buzzfeed#so this is the first time they’re getting real pushback about a decision they’ve made wrt shifting their platform/expanding their brand#so ig we’ll have to see how they react moving forward#but it’s soooo interesting to see how enthusiastically people dump on buzzfeed#AND how many people dump on youtube and how over the years so much of its functionality has been stripped away#how many ads you have to sit through. how much sponsored content there is now. etc#but when they try to do the same thing with youtube that they did with buzzfeed it’s like how dare you not lick their boots#because if you lick their boots and we lick their boots we can watch stuff for free#anyway.#even if you don’t any to say it’s a bad business decision. it’s not like there’s not precedent for it#1) the move away from buzzfeed was successful and 2) what about the dnd shows or whatever#don’t you guys watch those dnd shows that are ‘behind a paywall’#don’t you guys have netflix hulu disney hbo amazon etc ad nauseum that are actually owned by billion dollar corporations#don’t you guys get on your high horses about supporting independent artists all the time#it’s interesting that people will profess to be such big fans!!! and feel like they’re friends!!!!#but how dare they think their work might be worth paying for#idk. idk. it’s entitlement though#sorry for the rant i’m ALSO not trying to blindly defend a bunch of people i don’t know#but you guys are being soooo fucking annoying about it lol#anyway i’m still waiting to see what their response is going to be from here before jumping to conclusions#also to be fair i am biased to be lenient about decisions made by independent filmmakers vs big studios etc#like everybody freaking out about the ai art used in late night with the devil. who cares honestly#‘they should’ve paid a real artist!!’ idk maybe their budget didn’t cover that#i don’t want it to become the industry norm but at the end of the day i would rather see indie shit getting made then only seeing#the big studios (who don’t have equitable practices anyway!!) making shit#but that’s another conversation. just to be transparent about my viewpoint on this kind of thing#maybe controversial but also can’t we have nuance. for once.

The increase of AI “art” and “creations” I’ve seen on this site is so gross. Already blocked a few people. Because if they made one thing with AI, what makes you so sure they didn’t use it for other things?
I don’t care if you claim to have done your own drawing, or voice work, written your own fic, or strictly used photoshop for an edit. You’re now labeled the AI user in my eyes, especially when you don’t TAG IT and ADMIT to having used it in the DOZENS of other “creations” you posted and claim to have made.
Self care is blocking these accounts on sight when AI use is found.

They want to train AI? Off of me? Dick Queef Official™️?
Poop poop poop poop poop.
Pee.
I think Mickey Mouse should be made corporeal and cloned. Those clones should then be put into a blender. The juice should be sprayed over the homes of every IOF soldier to mark them in shame and for destruction by the Disneybot army. Hopefully they both destroy each other.
Anyways . . .
Poop. Poop all over everything all over all of the place.
Pee, penis, vagina, booblies.
Obligatory dick joke.
Poop.
Hope this makes your AI fucking brilliant, Tumblr!

I’ve been feeling really pessimistic about the AI “art” rise in the animation industry (thanks, Bob) and how it’s gonna impact my career post-graduation (I graduate next spring) and even though I’m nervous and worn down about it, one thing I’m sort of taking comfort in is that even if the animation industry keeps self-imploding, I can still do formline art. Maybe that’s a little self-aggrandizing, but i truly think formline art is one of the things AI can really, truly, never replicate. This goes for all forms of art ofc, but over all my studies I’ve come to the sort of understanding that formline art is more then just art; it’s a storytelling device too, and it conveys my culture. Formline art has a specific rhythm to it and a history to it that can’t be learned by a machine in a way that truly conveys and understands our culture. Formline art takes real work to learn and making it is all about the process. You learn the shapes, you learn the animals and their spirit, you learn the intricate patterns and the cultural relevance it has. you don’t just look at it and try to replicate it like some art scalpers or a machine does. You don’t get the spiritual and cultural connection from feeding a machine over and over again.
At the end of the day, AI can never truly be human, and thus it can never really replicate my nation’s culture and feel our history, and so it can never truly replicate formline art too.

I know I ain’t nobody and my opinion don’t matter but still I mean it when I say this is an anti-AI blog. AI does not have a place in art. The only way for AI to “make art” is to scrape off of art that has already been made. It is art theft. The fact that the user is not personally picking and choosing what works to scrape from does not make it less art theft just because they’re using a bot to do it for them. AI is not an accessibility tool. Calling it an accessibility tool is so goddamn ignorant to the disabled people who have been saying that AI art is not an accessibility tool and ignores the countless disabled artists and writers out there creating amazing works that don’t rely on art theft. The only stance on allowing AI “work” into events and challenges like this should be a hard No. Allowing blatant art theft in the name of “inclusivity” and “accessibility” is fucking ridiculous.

my reaction was a little over the top so here’s a better one: we all mess up. Cancel culture should not exist. Frank iero made a harmful joke and people have the right to be upset but this is Frank. I think he just didn’t think of the connotations when he made that joke, he’s done it before and is bound to do it again. He should not be canceled. No one should be canceled. Cancel culture sucks and should go die in a hole. As for the ai art thing, year ai art sucks ass but like it’s the bands choice. It’s ok to like things that are problematic. Liking it doesn’t mean ur a bad person and/or condone the actions of the creator.

Every day I wake up and horrified by the implications of AI on the entertainment industry….a lot of my friends are going to lose their jobs and starve to death because Elon Musk thought it’d be fun to fund a machine that automatically steals artists’ work against their will to create generic algorithmically generated mass market slop.
I feel like I’m going crazy because everyone pretends they care about how “popular media sucks now because it’s all created to be as generically marketable/similar to other things as possible, almost like it’s algoritmically generated >:(“ but then they’re also like “WOW COOL AI ART!”
Like dudes???? Don’t you understand that supporting AI art means that you’re supporting eliminating and eviscerating any last vestiges of humanity from art……..a company will definitely settle for “mass produced AI slop generated by an algorithm to look as similar as possible to whatever generic popular slop came before” if it means they don’t have to pay a human being.
And that’s not even going into the way that these algorithms monetize themselves……some of them have “free” tiers now but that’s extremely likely to change in the future. I can’t wait until the most prolific “comic artists” of our times are like, hedge fund managers who can afford to buy 1000000 prompts on Dall-E.
And once that starts happening more we’ll all be drowning in a tidal wave of hollow empty shallow algorithmically generated “”””art””””” created by machines that can’t feel, think, intend, or care— machines that can only rip off the artists they were designed to replace, the artists whose actually meaningful thoughtful creations were stolen to provide their training data.
I hate all of this, and I hate the mass callous indifference to it. I am baffled that people don’t see the dangers of a future where none of our art is created by people who care— by people who are trying to mean something and to say something and to connect with you from one person to another—but by algorithms mindlessly mashing pixels together. It’s going to be horrible. Especially because in a time of climate change and intense social stress/collapse it’s going to be very important to connect with other people through art, but AI removes humanity from art entirely. If climate change wasn’t likely to cause the collapse of society anyway I’d say that if we keep heading in this direction the art and entertainment industry is a bit doomed

Some of y’all occasionally need to remember that a lot of your favs are people, who fuck up, and do stupid shit sometimes! And that’s okay! Call them out on it! If you don’t like their response then don’t support them anymore! No need to send them dms saying to kill themselves!! I cannot think of a situation that could warrant that!!! What the fuck!!

my dad just said that i should start programming ai because it’s probably going to take over art anyways
he’s being a huge help with that problem by using a paid ai art service for professional videos as well instead of hiring an artist

To follow up my previous reblog about the AI thing— I checked in my settings and legit, you have to ACTIVELY GO AND DENY Tumblr the right to STEAL your original art.
Tumblr media
Anyways, it’s under settings, visibility.
This is a disgrace; blatant theft.
Who wants to also bet this refreshes itself with every update? Lol.

For the record: I don’t support nor condone using AI for any art/fandom related purposes. Fandom and fandom art, fic, headcanons, etc are great BECAUSE they are made by real people with unique minds!!!
I think that using AI to create art, fic, character interaction, etc not only discourages the real human creators making art/fic for the fandom by taking attention and support away from them, but it provides a better platform for AI to flourish and eventually become more prevalent, continuing to spread and take attention (and work!!) away from real people. For example, as far as I know, painting AI learns from basically stolen artwork and can be trained to emulate the styles of human artists who have spent YEARS to cultivate their skills and style, then take money and attention away from those people. Plus, there was that whole issue where someone was drawing on twitch and someone stole their wip, put it into one of those AI programs to “finish” it before the actual artist, then demanded credit.
I consider myself to be fairly lucky that my work is not in the mainstream eye and that my style changes constantly, otherwise I’d be genuinely worried that someone might try to use AI to undermine the work I’ve done as an artist that has gotten me to where I am.
Maybe I’m just old and jaded but I’ve watched technology grow and spread over my lifetime, and instead of helping people have better lives, it seems to have a habit of taking peoples’ place in work/life and leaving them to either find other work or just fucking cope. AI is not our friend. It’s not a cute, fun way to make fanart or fic— it’s a robot, not a real artist, or a character created by a unique creative mind.
This post pretty much sums it up🤷🏽
