“Are you ever angry?” You ask quietly, head resting in Bakugou’s lap. His thumb pauses where it strokes your cheeks, the far away gaze in his eyes suddenly snapping into focus as he looks down at you. He looks…different than you remembered, before you both were cast out of the pearly gates.

His hair doesn’t shine as bright as it used to, and it falls a little flatter without the halo pulling it up, soft. His eyes still hold that hardened gaze as a battle angel, but they’re deeper now. More sunken in and hollow, the flickering ichor now a stained crimson. His face is scarred and his hands are rough after the fall but he’s just—different.

“About what?” He asks, his lips pursed in confusion. You reach a hand up, stroking over his bottom lip, smooth a hand through his hair. You can almost feel the throbbing light radiating from him, can almost see how broad and ivory his wings would spread and hold you tight to him.

“It all. Everything. The fall.” You whisper, try not to shrink into yourself with the way Bakugou’s lip curls back in disgust. He pulls away from you and you sit up, resting on your knees, looking at him in such a way that his heart pangs in his chest.

His heart, something he’s never had a reason for when he still had his fists bathed in heavenly fire and no ounce of rebellion hidden under sinless skin. It aches in his chest at the mention of life after being kicked out with the only thing he could hold onto—you.

“Why would I miss my thoughtlessness? My inability to make a decision for myself? Why would I miss being a pawn?” Bakugou is all snarls, all snapping teeth and jowls, but it doesn’t scare you. He’s never scared you, even when his gait was limp from the impact of hard soil, and his hands grew rough, and his back grew jagged from ripped feathers.

“I miss it.” You whisper so carefully into the humid night, hands reaching for his own trembling ones. “I want to be holy again, Katsuki.”

He hisses at you, snatching away like you’ve burned him, like you’ve seized his halo and ripped it into two until it split into horns. Looks at you with such heavenly fire burning in his gaze that you want to shrink beneath him.

“Well—well I don’t. Find someone else who will, cause it sure as hell ain’t me.” You wonder who he’s trying to convince here, with his shaky voice and fluttering eyes and trembling mouth. You stare at him for a long while, lips wobbling at the gravity of it all. Your head hangs low, gathering yourself in your arms, head bowed to him—it’s the only thing you’ve ever known.

“Just hold me for now.” You murmur, eyes low as you settle yourself in his arms, forcing your way into his hold. “Please?” You tack on, unafraid of his bite, his snarl, his growl. Bakugou sits there stiffly for what feels like a century, but you’re used to waiting.

He gathers you in his arms slowly, pulling you into his chest, his body covering yours completely. And if you let yourself relax enough, you can almost feel the warmth of his wings surrounding you again.

advice for aspiring artists/writers? you hit the nail on the head lol gonna preach the three P's i told myself and others years ago: practice, patience and passion. when you're a growing artist (which you always will be) you need to have patience with yourself as you navigate through the mistakes and learning curves as you practice. the passion keeps you motivated. if you don't have that passion and patience, you might have a hard time with the practice and growth

best part of being a writer? short answer: i love getting comments that analyze my work. long answer: i have been trying my best to focus less on the end product and its reception when it comes to writing, much like my art. this can even lead back to the first question: i personally believe you should not focus most on those things, but the process more. the things you learned, the steps you took, the parts that felt therapeutic for you. that's what should be the best part. (but ofc, i do love the comments i get on my writing and it certainly makes it feel even more worth it. analyses on my writing? THE best.)

j/p fanfic recs most of my favorites come from beloved rizobact. winner takes all and crystal ghosts are my favs from her. it's been a long time since i read this one, but domino milkshake was a fun one as far as i remember. if you've already exhausted those, the j/p zine just published some fics ',:)

i've never really done like, a specific ruleset or procedure on requests tbh ! i certainly can't do fic requests bc i can hardly write 80% of the stuff i myself already think to do BUUUT asking abt headcanons or my opinions on a ship or character or lore event, etc. is totally cool! thank you for your consideration though, i appreciate it <33 i'll put some headcanons below the read more:

-Sage and Jett have been part of the protocol longer (as they were in the game since launch) so they're already p tight by the time Neon comes into the picture; Sage is similar to a motherly or big sisterly figure, always looking after Jett in big and small ways too. Jett cherishes that a lot, especially considering she had to sever ties with her birth family/those who raised her prior to joining VALORANT.

-Neon and Jett had been p good friends from the start. They both love competition and quickly became known to race each other in the halls or tease each other relentlessly, but it's all fun and games and nobody means any real harm.

-With them both being part of the younger agents (Jett, Neon, KJ, Raze, Phoenix, Yoru, etc. I think of Jett and Neon as being 20-21 and 19 respectively whereas Sage is in her 40's), Sage feels a certain protective drive over them and tries to look out for them a lot. Being a young adult is hard, and it isn't like you just snap your fingers one day and become mature and know everything! Life is a learning process. Those who have experienced more than us should guide us along, which Sage does happily.

-It's pretty common to find them enjoying meals together, or lounging about in their freetime in each other's company. They have dramas they watch together, and Sage isn't into video games much, but will happily talk to the other 2 girls as they play their games in the common room. Every now and again, they can convince Sage to try a more relaxed game like Animal Crossing or smth.

-They also give each other a lot of fashion and makeup tips as all three are into cosmetology and seem to wear makeup at least semi-regularly.

-Since they're close, they're pretty good at giving each other gifts too. It isn't always a matter of a special occasion coming up; sometimes it's just, "I saw this, and thought you," "This reminded me of you," "I knew you'd like this," sort of gifts in passing and usually whatever the girls pick out for each other tends to be spot on with their styles.

-One thing they won't really do though is share clothes. Sage's style is a bit more professional than the younger girls, who prefer their sporty looks or baggy clothes or eccentric colors to their outfits on occasion. Neon and Jett have probably shared a few shirts or something, but Sage is content to let them have their style, and she has hers.

as for your question, i'm sorry if my response isn't what you expected because i rarely read for maknae lines. first of all, the only 4th gen group i read for is enha, so i don't know how bad things are in other fandoms ( and i've heard abt nct blr being nothing but a pit of smuts— no offence to the writers— but i agree ) about niki though, i personally haven't encountered any such comments but some of my friends have reported seeing nsfw accounts for enha maknae lines, which is straight up disgusting because they're minors. probably one of the main reasons why i don't read for maknae line because i legit can't trust minors here, except a few that i have known for a while. the thing about minors ( 13-15 y/o as you said ) writing nsfw / borderline nsfw, whether for minors or adults, is so messed up because that's straight up wrong. i don't care if you were exposed to such topics at the age of 10 or whatever, if i spot you, a minor, writing nsfw i'm going to block you.

and smut about minors is even more messed up because it's like a gate to tell people that yeah, you can have sex at 16 it's fine, completely normal— which it isn't. moreover, how would you feel if someone wrote a smut about you when you're just 16? and not even smut, i think some people tend to see niki the way they see heeseung, which is also depicted in fiction. the point here is that heeseung is an adult while niki is not, and creating a line between how you write the two of them is very important. you can make suggestive jokes, go on, but not a suggestive work. that's weird, it's messed up.

honestly, i just don't read for maknae line in general lmao. sunoo is fine at times, but you'll rarely spot me reading a jungwon fic, and reading for riki is even rarer; same with writing. like, i know i have riki fics in works but they don't revolve around romance or whatever. i simply don't feel comfortable bcz jungwon is like, just a few months older and niki is younger than me. i think it's just a personal preference but as an adult, i prefer writing for hyung line over everyone else in the group. besides, i once saw someone writing a make out scene with niki and it was so descriptive, i scrolled so fast lmao 🏃‍♀️💨 i mean ok if you're dying to writing a kissing scene but there's a limit ??? he's a minor and you're writing about grinding i ????? also the kboo article im 💀 it's funny because if someone would sexualise a minor irl people would go off but suddenly it's all normal in fictions ( and i just don't mean kpop fics. it's wrong even if you're writing for fictional characters who are canonically minors ) and, i've seen MANY users posting nsfw right on the day an idol turns adult ( like i knew a sunoo one pls ) as if they were waiting for him to turn legal, only to write smut ?? which is so disgusting. fortunately, the user got called out for their actions.

some tips for writing blogs, especially those who are just starting out. these are some things that works for me and may or may not work for others.

how to add a read more link on mobile

type :readmore: on a free space, then hit the enter or return button

personally i think they’re very helpful because it lessens the space you take up in your dash, and might encourage more people to rb

+ you can also add this on a spot where it gives a sort of cliffhanger, essentially making people want to ‘read more’

headers, banners, and dividers

though not necessary, it’s good to have a title for your work. make sure it’s bold and doesn’t blend in with your notes (aka pairing, warnings, etc.). this also helps when someone wants to look up one of your works in your search bar

i don’t really make banners or covers for my works. but some good apps that i know of would be picsart and canva. if you’re looking for ideas, i definitely recommend going into canva

wondering how to make those really small, thin dividers? you can make them using picsart! to make a divider hit tools > free crop > brush > size (adjust it to your preference > then draw a line along the edge of your photo > save

using the divider you just saved, go back to picsart and edit it again > draw option > hit rainbow square at the bottom left corner > hit suction/droplet symbol right below the check mark > color in the white spots bc for some reason picsart glitches and makes dividers look white-ish

this is gonna sound really frustrating. but... tumblr needs to check if you’re a bot or not. what does this mean? it’s likely that your first few posts won’t show up on the search bar. you may not even get to edit your header/pfp yet ://

this happened to me and there was no visibility on my account at ALL. what helped me get ‘verified’ is that i followed a LOT of accounts, liked a bunch of posts, made some posts here and there. now that lets tumblr know you’re not a bot

the tumblr tagging system usually only allows the first 5 tags in your post to show up. so, what can do you about this? only use FIVE or less tags in your post. wait about 15 minutes or more until you can add some more tags in your post, and they usually all show up like that

another important thing about using tags is not to generalize! especially if you’re using a popular tag. but also don’t specify it too much where barely anyone looks it up. for example, if you’re writing a gn piece about oikawa, i recommend you use the tags such as: oikawa x reader, haikyuu x reader, oikawa x gn!reader, haikyuu headcanons, etc

a good rule of thumb is to use character x reader tags first, then leave the full name or fandom tag last

FOR NSFW: tumblr doesn’t let any tags with nsfw show up. so, give your nsfw works another tag. maybe #namegetspicy idk, you figure it out

FOR WARNINGS: especially if you’re a dark content creator, i highly encourage you to add tw:xyz tags. if you already have a warning note at the top then that’s great. but even better for readers who prefer to actually block these tags that way they never get to see it

another important thing to note is that people have different timezones. it helps if you rb your work at a different time of the day, in case people missed it! (icymi) i’ve noticed that reblogging helps to make your post show up in the tags

interaction + feedback

first and foremost, you are not obligated to write for your followers, and neither are your followers obligated to interact with you. remember that everyone has their own individual lives, and they have their own things to do— so do you, too.

make friends! become mutuals with other writers, visit their ask box. i know it can be daunting having to initiate these things, but you might just turn out to have fun! you can’t expect people to interact with you if you’re not interacting (back). it’s... kind of a two way thing yk? no need to be afraid to interact with other writers. oh, and rb other writers works!

pspsps join tag games or do ask games. it’s fun and very interactive

it never hurts to ask for feedback. i usually do this in a more subtle way because i don’t really expect a full on analysis on my works. maybe a little, is this okay? or feedback appreciated. sometimes it takes a little bit of coaxing for the silent readers

formatting your posts and blog

i generally put in the title at the top in big, bold letters

then comes the header/divider. helps to make the post more... visually appealing ig?

it’s important to add warnings (if any) and the pairing. the audience is not all female, and it might be a little frustrating for male readers having to find out its an x fem reader piece like halfway through your fic

if you have multiple works posted, it’s really really helpful to have a navigation page!

you can organize the posts you make with tags! for example, if you’re shitposting, you can use a specific tag for that. if you have a nsfw related post (ESPECIALLY when your blog is open to the general audience) please make a tag for it

themes + colors

if you have a color in mind but don’t know which direction to go from there, i recommend looking up color + aesthetic

looking to use the same color? download a name color app that’ll give you a hex code for any color you want to use. then, you can type in that hex code for when you’re choosing a color for your tumblr bio

wondering how to make your header image small like mine? just choose a photo for your header and turn off the stretch image option

want to use a different text color that tumblr doesn’t offer? it’s not as complicated as you think. you’ll have to go on a desktop to do this and do some html (but trust me, it’s not very difficult). look up “HTML noob but trying my best - how to use colored text on desktop”

how to make an aesthetic navi and masterlist

step 1: decide a theme! if you’re stuck, think about a character + color/season/mood or look up “[insert] aesthetic” to find some inspiration. or you can try looking at other blogs too

step 2: find a color scheme! it’s easier if you choose fewer colors. if you want to use the same color for both divider and text, download a color name app in order to get the hex code of that color.

step 3: add categories to your navi! most navigation pages include a link to masterlist, about/byi, and rules. your navi should have a title that indicates that it’s... a navigation page. you can add thin colored dividers with the same color to make it easier for followers to navigate

step 4: you can choose to create a ‘cover’ or a picture for your navigation and masterlist! again, i recommend you use the canva app as a starting point

extra: search up emoticon symbols to spice up your titles!

I’ve been obsessed with Dr S. Strange lastly (Aaron Fraser-Nash Evil Dr Strange faults, really) and I kind of struggle to find Strange-centric gen angsty fics. So... would you know some ? One shot are read too fast, and the long (more than 15-20k) Strange-centric fics I found where either Ironstrange-centered or another ship (I don’t mind the canon Christine/Strange ship too much, but the others... tend to bother me most of the time except for amazingly written fics that are exception), or leaned more towards fluff/comfort than angst (and I need angst :p).

So would you know some ?

Hello! Yeah, Stephen-centric gen fic is incredibly rare; at one point I cornered about 10% of all Stephen gen fic on AO3, to give you an idea of its scarcity. Gen fic of the angsty variety is rarer. It's to the point that I read more or less anything with Stephen that I thought got his personality well (which is like, 30% of the fanfics I've scrolled through since 2018 lmao), and I threw away all preferences of genre and pairings because there just wasn't any content.

I'm going to throw a link to my bookmarked fics with a Stephen filter as you'll find at least a decent amount of gen!Stephen there, or angsty!Stephen there. Lots of good one shots. The shipping fics are high quality that write Stephen very well as I am first and foremost and Stephen fan, so I just can't stand fics that use him as a romantic prop and forget his agency.

The first angsty Stephen writer I ran into was @dragonnan so I'm gonna give her a shout out as well; she has a handful of pieces you'll enjoy, as well as art, and a WIP that is said to be very angsty (I am waiting for it to be finished before diving in).

For long-boy angsty fics, I only know of two gen Stephen long fics that star him (that weren't written by me):

Aurorawest is writing a fic that has Stephen in a lot of it that's still a WIP, but it's not heavy on the Stephen!angst side and Loki/Stephen might be the endgame of that fic so I'm not sure if it will fall into the gen category. Also, it's part of a huge series that more stars Loki and Thor so it's important to read all those to really understand the context of the series, which may not be what you're looking for. Good writer though if you like Thor and Loki too.

If there's any Stephen-centric long gen fics I missed here, please mention them because I actually do not know of any others. All other Stephen-centric long fics I know of are IronStrange and like, a couple FrostStrange. There is a bereft of Stephen gen fic in the fandom which is a bit disappointing for me, at least.

For finding TAO fics, I recommend going into the Doctor Strange (2016) section of AO3 and filtering for just TAO, and then starting at the very end and going forward. You're more likely to find some fics with her that way that match your criteria. Same with Wong, though he'll be harder. If you filter out IronStrange as a relationship that will narrow results significantly to help find stories that match your interests.

And finally: Yes, I do take prompts, but I take literal years to usually get to them. For instance, I still have one 2019 prompt, and 6 2020 prompts that sit half-written in my docs ready to finish but another project always distracts me lol. I got your prompt and I've got to tell you it's less of a prompt and more of an outline of a story you already have in your head. Prompts are usually one to three sentences of a more vague idea to give the person taking the prompt a lot of freedom on where to go with it. What you delivered was a pretty detailed outline of a very long story, and those are not the sort of prompts I usually take because it leaves me with very little creative control. It seems you already have this vivid idea in your head, so you really should go for it yourself! Writing a long fic is definitely time consuming and can be a daunting task, but it's also very satisfying to finish it at the end of the day. And I have two very large fics that I plan on writing over the next couple of years that will take up all my long fic time, so I'm afraid I can't accept prompts of this large of a scope. I hope you understand and decide to tackle it yourself!

okay sorry for taking so long anon- i was very sleepy when i got this. take all of this with a grain of salt bc i joined the fandom late and i made a huge guess on what might have happened based on patterns from previous fandoms and my knowledge of fandom history. and hearsay from older fans.

BUT okay, my THEORY is that people who made b*tcest content then at the initial rise of the modern dc fandom probably watched young justice first and then go on to read a few comics here and there to discover their favorite robin. young justice was around the time new 52 became a thing so for a lot of fans at that time, that's usually their introduction to the rest of the batfam.

fandom does and fandom is wont to do though and since the batboys p much look like each other, they skewed their characterizations into easily digestible shallow tropes to make it easier to distinguish one robin from the other.

dick got saddled with the sunshine cuddle-monster (highly suspect this was influenced by young justice and n52), jason is the bad boy with the heart of gold, the draco in leather pants (possibly rhato influenced), tim is the sad uwu twink coffee super genius (red robin influenced) and damian's personality is either hellspawn or diagnosed 13 years old. (depends if they like damian or not).

the thing with the batfandom though is that a lot of them tend to be insular. so when it comes to dc content, they consume batfam content ONLY. knowing fandom, they can't consume content without shipping so they're like why not with each other? around the time, people are also a lot more likely to ship incest and don't consider adopted siblings actually related so it's seen as "not as bad."

that said, b*tcest has existed way before this period. even in batman year one: deluxe edition, there was a comic that said that some people saw batman and robin as a metaphor for homosexuality. (what the fuck)

and there were livejournal groups for batslash. that said, fandoms were very small pockets of community at the time instead of the consolidated mass it will be on tumblr. so from what i heard from older fans is that at the very least people who were making any kind of fan content have read the comics. i think i read a meta that dick's fanon self at the time tended to be a bit like his outsiders self.

anyways, there wasn't even a reliable archive besides fanfiction dot net. so if people made ooc b*tcest fic or art then, it won't have the reach it has now in influencing fellow fans. (that said, dc managed to hire a writer who ships br*dick, giving these b*tcest shippers fuel. the resulting mischaracterization of the way devin writes dick will help fuel his fanon self later on. so that's one example already of how b*tcest fucked up fanon)

so with the influx of new fans from young justice and the rise of tumblr, modern dc fandom was born and in came the b*tcest shippers with fanon characterizations based off the show and n52 comics and their own headcanons.

with the way tumblr is set up, it's easy for non-fans of the franchise to see content from your fandom so people who haven't read the comics started coming in as well because they liked the fan content they saw. comics is a very daunting medium for people to get into because of the amount of material that can conflict with each other there is. so a lot of these new fans like to consume only fanon.

with the amount of b*tcest artists and writers there was, even people who didn't ship it would see non-explicit fanon content from these creators and assume it's is accurate. and so, the fanon characterizations became slowly accepted and popular and they end up adapting these b*tcest shippers' headcanons as well.

it did not help that a lot of b*tcest shippers will make meta to make certain batfam members closer than they actually are. and people took this plus the out of context panels as word of god of how they actually act around each other.

for example of fanon things that might be influenced by b*tcest

batfam living all in the manor (they don't.)

jason and tim's closeness with another (besides that one lobdell page where jason said tim's the only one he can stand and we shouldn't even consider bc lobdell does jackshit to research, they weren't very close at all.)

jason's use of the baby bird nickname for tim (major red flag)

dick being promiscuous/a womanizer/someone who likes getting naked (he's not. there's much canon evidence of him being uncomfortable with being objectified, unsure about nudity and being extremely monogamous. it's just a mischaracterization perpetuated by devin grayson (br*dick shipper) and tim seeley (hack)

i could list more (or you guys can comment more) but i'm honestly losing steam writing this. jnfenf i think as a fandom, we're getting better at debunking fanon at least - especially since the influx of batfans has slowed down compared to its peak. plus, inc*st is being more and more widely denounced in fandom spaces at all.

anyway, those are my rambling thoughts on how b*tcest shippers influenced fanon jkfnjkenf

how you choose your titles: i write the entire fic and then panic throw a random line that sounds vaguely related as the title. idk what im doing, ever, dont ask me things. *lies down*

do you outline?: usually yeah. most of the time my writing goes horribly south from the actual outline anyway though. (everything’s fine folks i promise--) though sometimes for short fics i’ll just have a general idea and start typing. and then it turns into like 15k words and i despair

ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice?: all of my old weilan fics lol. i had a huge 20k outline for a weilan x dbh crossover with android shen wei and Plot and Twists and Betrayal and Revelations and whatnot and honestly i was rly hyped to write it, i got 50k for nanowrimo two years ago but ehhhh i just dont have the brain for guardian anymore....im only capable of fixating on one fandom at a time. looking through my guardian wips i also have multiple other soulmate AUs, a literal ghost!sw + human!zyl AU with a whole other plot, urban fantasy demon!sw + human(?)zyl again with....more plot. lol i give up on life *shrugs*

spicy tangential opinion: hmmm...mainly, i dont read much eng dmbj fanfic bc i dont vibe with most popular eng fandom fanon/characterization, sorry 😅 uhhhhh i also really hate it when people forget that xg & pz have their own friendship and relationship independent of wx......pz tends to bring out xg’s playful side at times, which un showed w their last couple eps and also there’s a novel extra where xg pranks pz (&wx but mostly pz bc wx sees through it p quickly) with a fake zombie turtle and it’s rly cute lol. anyway t3j’s relationship is the heart of dmbj and it can’t be intruded upon or broken up by others, esp by chongqi/rain village. uhhhh another spicy opinion: i vastly prefer huaxiu to hei///hua, sorry guys orz i blame tlt2...huaxiu are too cute ;;;;;; anyway ill stop there before the entire dmbj tumblr fandom blocks me LOL. (i also have too many Opinions(tm) about characterization.)

but anyway, so like im definitely a cranky judgy bastard at times, but in the end fanfic is fanfic so u can write whatever ooc crackship crack premise stuff you want, have fun with it. i certainly do too. as long as you’re having fun then that’s all that matters. tangentially related, dramas don’t have to be Objectively Good/Amazing or anything for you to like them. i definitely have very strong opinions on dmbj adaptations for example re: how they respect the novel and characterization of t3j especially, but they all have their own problems....(some far more serious than others). i could write an essay about that but i wont, to save your eyes LOL. 

(i mean at the end of the day i unironically love time raiders and that is like an objectively terrible movie.)

i've seen a popular opinion that gojo might need strong s/o - some people even say like him but it's impossible so nearly so. what do you think about this and do you think that rip!mc is strong? as long as i remember she doesn't consider herself strong too🤔

when I usually write rip!mc I have three P’s in mind = practical, pragmatic, and pessimistic, which is kind of ironic because she is a bit in denial about her feelings but anyway, I’d say that hanging out with two stupidly strong people in hs skewed her perspective in hs on how strong she is was even though she acquired a semi-grade 1 rank while she was still in hs.

i wouldn’t say she underestimates herself, but instead she knows the limits of her abilities. in the grand scheme of things, she is weak and she will most likely die putting her life on the line. it’s something gojo just wouldn’t understand, and another source of conflict between the two of them (gojo’s ‘i’ll take care of you [you don’t need to worry about dying]’ vs rip!mc’s ‘death is inevitable [for me] so let me deny myself long term happiness’)

it’s also kinda reminiscent of how nanami also knows that he is simply one cog of many in the machine that is the jujutsu world. he knows he can’t do any real change, not like someone like gojo can.

if rip!mc were weak I don’t think gojo would be as inclined to....I don’t want to say “let” but like.....let. NSFJKDNFJK or let me say be “as fine with her being away 24/7″ and I say fine loosely because gojo definitely isn’t happy or as okay with it as he lets on. gojo would probably nonstop annoy her to settle down in one place (somewhere near tokyo him)

i consider high school gojo much more malleable and open than adult gojo (even though hs gojo probably seemed more unapproachable)

if adult rip!mc and gojo met anywhere else but highschool they wouldn’t have the relationship they do. rip!mc would probably be even more closed off to people and gojo wouldn’t find her nearly as fun as utahime to rile up, although he would most definitely try.

i feel like gojo post hs and geto would veer towards someone strong simply because gojo finds strong people interesting (and would also probably view them as a potential comrade for his quest to ‘reset the jujutsu world’ lmfao) plus the added bonus of them being able to take care of themselves would be nice. but i do say this: i truly don’t think taking care of rip!mc has ever been a burden to gojo.

i’ve seen that going around and I find it kinda funny how people equate physical strength = ability to handle emotional burdens. like....just strength?? i doubt a physically strong s/o could handle gojo’s awful personality any better than a weak s/o. geto was strong but I doubt he would’ve gotten along with gojo as well as they did if he had a terrible personality.

but honestly who knows. I specifically wrote rip!mc into high school because I was too lazy to think of a way of bypassing closed off post hs gojo im a hack of a writer y’all

also I don’t really like the narrative that the woman (or the weaker s/o) has to be the one to help the man (or the strong s/o) with his burdens. yeah gojo has a huge burden on his shoulders but it’s a two way street yk??? it’s also the reason why i tend to emphasize a lot of mutual comfort in my fics bc I think gojo needs to be doing some work too...he’s not a child as much as much as he acts like one + the fandom likes to pretend it's his only personality trait

huh this was hard, but ignoring all my abandoned WIPs, probably where all the stars align, a ghost!au (although lol at it not really being au huh?) bonenzo fic. it was also my longest fic until bridgerton came along.

no my brain can’t handle that kind of power

lol yes. usually it’s about the pairings i write (unpopular/noncanon). most recently it was because i made penelope bi and colin pan in dress.

it’s so funny to me, because yes, obviously now i write smut. and it’s apparently what i’m known for? but i never wrote smut for fitzsimmons and i think i wrote vague M-ish smut for bonenzo and rosvolio. and then theonsa happened and i wrote a lot of feeling smut and then i just went all in with polin/kathony/etc. and now it’s honestly hard for me to write fics that DON’T have smut in them, somehow. but my smut is almost always “soft but h*rny” bc... feelings.

no.

not really, but i have bounced ideas with others before. i’ve also written sequels/spin-offs to other’s fics.

the longest infinity is my BABY and my child and i love the concept so much. and the rosvolio fandom was so much fun to write for usually. maybe someday i’ll adapt it for a non-dead fandom... or even better, make it an original work.

i truly don’t know? probably dialogue. lately, apparently, smut. i love inserting fun friendships/dynamics.

descriptions, especially of setting. also anything involving plot. i am a character-driven author which is why i tend to stick to short drabbles.

i personally haven’t done it, but i think it’s a hard balance and you would definitely need a friend who spoke the language to beta it for you.

I think I have some pretty unique concepts and characterizations. Not all of my ideas are unique, but some of them definitely are. (examples being: Can't Find No Heaven [sourthern gothic serial killer boyfriends Ryan/chris], lightly manipulative and overprotective Chris in Helpless, and demon Tim in Angel Of Small Death.

Describing the same people over and over again (cough chris cough), I tend to use the same descriptive phrases to describe their appearance. A specific example being I always describe how Chris' short hair (like he has now) tends to fall forward into his face. I don't do it intentionally but I catch myself and It is so aggravating!

Also I think I overthink things when I write them. I try to write when I am intoxicated occasionally and I think it really helps me to get out of my critical brain and just let it happen. (I think two of my anon fics were written when I was drunk? And the ville/ricky one was definitely)

well. hm. what would this look like in my hands. okay, okay, so in this particular scenario, i actually imagine neil was putting 2 + 2 together and finding out susan's preggo right after the move. like, even before susan does. and she's all kinds of alarmed but neil is?? oddly excited?

he's all like, "isn't this great? we get to have a new baby in this new town. what a perfect way to cement our brand new life, huh?"

and susan doesn't want to be hopeful but with neil's positive reaction, she tentatively feels hope anyway. maybe things rly will be different, right?

continues under the cut bc this got fucking long.

yeah, well, neil's good mood lasts until it's actually born and responsibilities ensue. he never had to deal with billy as a baby rly, bc billy's mom took care of that part and also, like. in this 'verse at least, billy was a low-maintenance baby. didn't cry much. maybe he did at first but like, after being dropped on the head a couple times, he just went quiet and didn't rly bother anybody after that. wouldn't get loud again until elementary age. and max didn't come into neil's life until she was even elementary age, so defo past all the baby stuff.

the new infant tho screams like a mofo. everybody in the house is on edge. sleep is hard to come by for the whole household. the care and keeping responsibilities mostly fall on susan but neil holds it against her every. single. time. he has to change a diaper or hold a bottle, as if it's some major failing on susan's part that he should ever have to do anything like this at all.

max tries to help but she can't even hold the baby tbh. it makes her v uncomfortable, she never gets it right and doesn't know what to do when it squirms!! what if she drops it!? plus she thinks baby smells weird even when it's got a clean diaper, an unappealing mashed food and powder combo with a lingering whiff of wet rubber. and billy. is billy. he has to watch it sometimes, naturally. if it's just him and baby at home, he'll blast his stereo to cover up the crying, as long as he knows its other needs have been tended to. like, yk, the "it'll cry itself to sleep eventually," approach. which works actually. metallica becomes the go-to baby lullaby.

but lo and behold, when it's like, let's say 6 months or smth, baby gets an ear infection. like babies do. won't stop wailing. just. will NOT stop. v much in pain and has no other means of communication. neil and max are home. billy is on a date. susan's stuck in a long line at the grocery store. neil had a shitty day at work and he's already aggravated. pacifier isn't working, lil thing just keeps hollering, so. in a burst of frustration, he starts throttling baby. max is in her own room but hears it the second the noises change and hurries to help, blood ice cold.

she stops neil from killing baby sibling but gets a black eye and a bloody nose for her troubles. this is what susan comes home to. i've written a lot of susan kills neil scenarios but i think this is the first one that comes to mind where in this round, it really is out of anger and not fear. both are present, ofc. but the actual act on her part is one of anger. bc she feels stupid that he ever had her the slightest bit convinced a new baby would make anything better. that neil ever made her feel like he'd be better and instead, he chose to be even worse. susan ties him to the bedposts under the guise of a sex thing, convincing neil she wants to treat him to smth special bc he's been oh so stressed out lately. bashes his brains in with a hammer at least 20 times, a la sally challen style.

alas, reality commences and susan goes to prison. ig a long time ago there was this made for tv movie abt this lady killing her abusive husband by setting the bed aflame that gave the public the misconception that women who kill their abusers are typically acquitted, but uh, that's not true. yeah, it was true for the lady whom the movie was based off of, but usually they're convicted and serve unduly harsh sentences for their "crimes." but if i get on that soap box, we gonna be here the whole fucking day, so, moving on now. susan's off to the big house. albeit both baby and max's injuries are documented and considered mitigating circumstances so her charges are reduced from first degree murder to voluntary manslaughter with the potential for early release.

billy's close to 19 so he's an adult, if only technically speaking. has custody of baby and max. i've decided baby in this 'verse is amab but will eventually come out as trans when she's abt ten yrs old. billy tries his best. max tries her best too. baby's nickname is ducky bc the rubber duck?? by far the favorite toy!! baby p much lives in the bathtub, playing with the rubber duck. billy, who would move them back to cali in a heartbeat if it wasn't so far from susan's prison, defo relates. he's also aquatic by nature.

okay, so the move back to cali does happen. over the months of her kids coming to visit her in prison susan can see how exhausted the teenagers are and she's p much just like, 'u guys gotta go. get outta this rural heckhole u hate, stop bringing urselves n my bby to this dismal place.' and they don't think she's serious but the next time they come to visit, she doesn't meet them, so. yup. serious it is. billy, max, n baby take neil's life insurance money and head off to cali.

this is a modern au, okay, inmates sneaking smartphones into the prison n all that. so susan makes deals and friends and does favors, and gets some help from the ones who are good at bitcoin and scams and counterfeiting and what have you. this enables her to do discreet online "shopping." so she gets ducky all kinds of rubber ducks, at least a handful of times a year. the ducks get more unique and less childish as ducky grows. susan apologizes almost every time she talks to the older kids on the phone for like, five yrs. max isn't rly angry with how things ended with neil tho, more so has that residual anger that susan ever got together with neil in the first place. billy doesn't rly know what to feel tbh, accepts the apologies p numbly bc he's too damn exhausted with being the primary caregiver in over his head to even think abt how he feels at the end of the day.

susan gets released on good behavior around the same time ducky comes out, announcing she's a girl. it's an adjustment for billy and max to get used to bc they never rly suspected, but they're 100% supportive. susan is...oddly excited? not for selfless reasons (tho she is earnestly supportive) but bc it's like. not only does that mean trashing the masculine deadname neil had adamantly declared for ducky, but it means all in all, she got out at the perfect time bc she gets to be introduced to the authentic version of her child along w errbody else. makes her feel less left behind, like she didn't miss out on errything despite being put away for a decade. susan moves in with all of them, obvi, in a small house by the seaside filled to the brim with rubber ducks (billy and max also contributed to ducky's collection on birthdays and holidays, the first duck billy ever got has skulls, and the first max ever got is a frankenstein monster duck). home is cluttered, awkward, and tentative but free of fear and ripe with *genuine* new beginnings.

believe me, anonymoose, i am just as surprised as u are at how fuckin long this got.

How to: Tag and Summarise your Fic

I’ve toyed with the idea of making this post for a long time but always sort of backed out because I don’t want anyone to feel like i’m being condescending or critical about the information people do or don’t disclose in their fic. At the end of the day fic writing is a hobby, y’know? And no one has to follow any rules when it comes to what they post.

But ultimately I’ve decided to go ahead and make it because I’m hoping whether you’re new to posting fic or have just always struggled with figuring out what your summary will be, this might actually be helpful for some of you. I’ve been posting on ao3 since 2013 for a lot of different fandoms and over the years I feel like I’ve developed a bit of a system for how I approach tagging/summarising my fics so, for anyone that’s interested, here’s a couple of tips on things I do when posting in order to make my fics appeal to the widest audience possible:

Tagging

When tagging fics, I usually keep it brief and informative (the more informative your tags, the less you need to worry about your summary). You don’t want to include a giant wall of tags and commentary bc a lot of people tend to glaze over that but a solid 10-13 tags can provide a lot of information about your fic before anyone even looks at the summary. Likewise, the more commonly used tags you include, the more searches your fic will show up in and the more people will see it!

The general formula I use is as follows: AU/Canon Compliant (and name the type of au eg. college, coworkers etc. or episode/season number if it’s canon), Genre (eg. Fluff, Angst, Hurt/Comfort), Nature of the relationship (Established, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, fake/pretend relationship etc.), Fun tropes that catch people’s interests (eg. pining, obliviousness, bed sharing etc.) and then maybe something like, POV Alternating if it’s relevant

The other thing you need to tag is Trigger Warnings. I know sometimes people hold back because they don’t want to spoil the fic which, fair enough, but speaking as someone who looks to fic as a safe space or when I need comfort, I would feel horrible if I read a fic with major character death or an unhappy ending without any prior warning. And I’m saying that as someone who wouldn’t be triggered by these type of things so please, just give people a heads up so they know what they’re getting into. For the people that want to read the fic regardless I promise it won’t take away from their enjoyment knowing these things in advance.

Kind of off the back of that as well, if my fic is dealing with a particular mental illness or panic attacks or therapy or something of the like, I’ll usually tag that too. Again, both because people might be specifically looking for a fic like that or might like to avoid it for whatever reason.

Summaries

Summaries are a pain in the ass. None of us want to write them, none of us know what to say for them. And let’s be real, a lot of us have probably succumbed to the “I suck at summaries” filler at some stage in our writing lives. But summaries are the hook, they’re the thing that convinces someone to read your fic, so realistically it kind of needs to sound interesting. So, again, here’s a quick little formula I’ve been using for a few years that I think has been fairly effective in catching people’s attention.

Firstly: Include a quote/piece of dialogue from the fic itself. It can be something that showcases the main plot of the fic or, if you’re going for something a little more feelings, a little less plot then it can just be a really nice piece of prose. It’s up to you but two or three lines from the first or second scene of your fic will be more than enough to pique someone’s interest.

Secondly: Following the quote, boil your fic down to one or two sentences. In its simplest form, what’s your fic about? Tell your audience. Sometimes that might just be “An (insert trope here) au.” Sometimes it might be something more. I’ll include a example here from one of my own fics:

“So,” he says, drawing the word out. “I told Even he could stay here.”

Isak blinks, convinced he’s misheard.

“Eskild,” he says flatly. “We don’t have a spare room.”

Eskild straightens his back, expression turning sheepish. “That’s the other part…I was thinking he could stay in your room?”

In which Even needs a place to stay, kollektivet gains a new roommate, and Isak just really wants to sleep.

In this summary I’ve included a piece of dialogue that sets up the premise for the fic in a way that (hopefully lol) appeals to the audience. Isak and Even are going to be unwittingly sharing a room - that’s the story. My sentence that follows then just offers that little bit more info, making it clear it’s a roommates au and that sleeping (and bedsharing *cough*) is going to be an important part of the story. In six lines I’ve p much explained the whole fic without actually giving anything major away.

And that’s it really! My little guide to efficiently tagging/summarising your fic! You absolutely don’t have to follow any of these “rules” if you don’t want to. Your fic is yours and you can post it in any format you want. But if you’ve ever found tagging/summarising difficult or felt at a loss for what to type then hopefully this might be useful to some of you and make it a little bit less of a chore while also helping your fics reach a wider audience <333

Both original stories, and one-shots or personal fics that are associated with already created media!! Writing character backstories and personalities and stuff is also fun too! hellooo! ive recently discovered u as a fic writer and am making my way thru ur stuff (thank u for what u do!) and i wanted to ask how u do such a good job of getting into the heads of all these characters cause im wanting to start writing my own fics. do the characters just live rent-free in ur brain and u can see them and their actions clearly? how do u write their interactions and stuff in a way thats entertaining but still distinctly that character?

first of all, thank you😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️ second of all, im SO sorry for the super late answer ive been wayyyy too busy lately

i tried to answer this as like. coherently as I could but it did get p long so I’ll put it under a read more !

they DO often live in my head rent-free lmao i’ll be honest i tend to project onto a lot of the characters i write abt (bc unfortunately it’s often hard for me to get into the heads of characters i either don’t care abt or can’t relate to) but i do always try to make sure I get where they’re coming from emotionally before I add like..... “layers”? especially if im setting a story at a certain point in the story/a characters arc, i try to figure out their motivations in canon and then like expand on them; if im having them do smth that strays from canon, i try to find a way to make it Make Sense--like, what circumstances would lead this character to do these things? why would they do them? how would other characters react? or the other way around: if this character was put into this situation, what would they do and why would they do it? (idk what media you found me thru but to use an example, if it’s a character like zuko from atla, whose situation, motivations and world view change a lot over the course of the story, i would try to keep whatever point of his arc im exploring true to that, if that makes sense? like the way he views/interacts with the world at the beginning of his arc is different from the way he does in the middle, or at the end, so if i was setting a fic at the beginning i would try to keep his thoughts/actions accurate to that. or if im changing something intrinsic to that part of the story, i would try to figure out what repercussions would it have on the rest of his arc and character development.) and one reason I enjoy writing for minor characters a lot is that there are a lot of directions you can take things/ways you can interpret them because they often don’t get as much in-canon exploration. if a character only has a few key traits that define them in-canon, i try to figure out what i can add or explore that will stay true to those key traits and give them depth while keeping them recognizable as the characters they are in-canon. you definitely dont Have to adhere to canon at all if you dont want to--at this point i usually just pick and choose plot points that i like and throw away the ones i dont--but i do try to keep the characterization as accurate as i can even if im diverging from canon or interpreting their actions in a different way.

in terms of character interactions:

so dialogue is smth ive always struggled with just bc it’s hard to make it seem realistic sometimes, so a lot of my early fic is mostly introspective character study type stuff that was largely just me Practicing Writing. it’s a little cliche but my biggest piece of advice that has been the most helpful to me is to read it out loud!!

sometimes you don’t realize how awkward smth is phrased until you have to say it yourself and imagine whether or not you could picture yourself and/or the character saying it to someone else. a lot of the time I read All of it (ie the descriptions, the dialogue tags, etc) out loud but it’s helpful the read Just the dialogue to see if it flows like an actual conversation. i also tend to incorporate a lot of filler words if the setting isn’t like. idk a period piece or something, bc that’s how ppl Talk. at the same time, some characters have certain speech patterns/ways that they talk so it can be hard to balance that, and my advice there would be seeing if you could imagine that character saying it.

at the end of the day best thing u can do is just practice! a lot of my oldest stuff is really short little character studies with very minimal plot that i mostly just posted to see how it was received and also to Prove that I cld write and post smth. one time when I was like 15 I wrote a very pretentious 700ish word sentence fic that defied all laws of grammar just to see how long of a sentence I could write and then posted it just bc i could. i dont love a lot of my older works but like. without them i wouldn’t have been able to get feedback and grow and improve. obv im not claiming to be like famous author level good, but im definitely proud of a lot of the things ive written over the years even tho a lot of it isn’t very good or polished (i only recently discovered the helpful process of editing<3 ) bc i know ive come a long way in terms of quality. basically what im saying is definitely start writing your own fic! it can be a great creative outlet and i promise that there’ll be ppl who will be really happy to read it (myself included!)
