Dishonorable mention for how this line makes Zoro sound really insensitive to Brogy.
His original line is a common figure of speech in Japanese which basically means, “At least we’re alive” or “The most important thing is we’re alive.” Having him say instead that it’s “good to be alive” when Dorry is not* and Brogy has just lost his best friend is pretty callous.
It also doesn’t jive with Zoro’s own mentality. The guy who just tried to cut off his own feet is not going to go for positive affirmations, but he would say something like, “No matter how painful it is, as long as I’m alive I’ll keep fighting.” When you think of it like that, Zoro could even be trying to console Brogy in his awkward way.
The manga itself seems to suggest Brogy took it that way, because of this brief interaction on the following page.

Okay so I know this isn't the last we see of the Kid Pirates but DAMN this was a complete loss. And as much as I love Kid and Killer, I feel they deserved it lmaooo
Dorry and Brogy being defensive of their homeland is exactly what I was expecting, but this obviously isn't the end of it right? Like it's clear the Kid Pirates are looking for Saul, so does he jump in and save them or what
Also I know they're not gonna die because this is one piece etc etc but also their stories aren't done. This was to show off Shanks' strength AND set up the last of Kid's and Killer's personal arcs

The fact Dorry and Brogy are the ones coming to pick up the Straw Hats is amazing for many many reasons, but one that I haven't seen anybody mention is that thanks to the giant ship they can actually bring this lil guy along to Elbaf 😊😊😊
