So this is, uh, completely fucking cool. The rough of it is that bit about “a shared blueprint of brain organization has been maintained from the Cambrian until today”, with a few side bits about how the brain within the body is structured overall.

you're going about your normal day when, suddenly, surprise! you've been pokémon mystery dungeon'd!
unfortunately, due to budget cuts, the pokémon assigning quiz has been canceled. instead, you must spin THE WHEEL, assigning you a random, unevolved, non-legendary and non-mythical pokémon. you must now go on some sort of world-saving adventure as this pokémon. good luck!
tell me in the tags what you rolled, and how you feel about it - for bonus points, you can spin the wheel again for (or just take your pick of) a pokémon to be your partner.
bonus rules:
you're not shiny unless the wheel tells you you're shiny
take your pick of regional forms and evolutions (for example, if you roll vulpix, it's up to you whether that means normal or alolan vulpix)
apply whatever logic you like with regards to gender
have fun and be yourself!

T. Rex not a "clever girl" in new research
T. Rex not a "clever girl" in new research #brain #brainevolution #trex #dinosaur #study #paleonuerology #cognition #jurassicpark
Whether Total Recall (1990) or Jurassic Park (1993), the “clever girl” line is iconic. While in Jurassic Park, it was applied to velociraptors, a 2022 study published in the The Journal of Comparative Neurology asserted that the Tyrannosaurus Rex, or T. Rex, had up to three billion neurons, equivalent to an intelligent primate such as a baboon, leading to the possibility that they could hunt in…

Baby Taylor's baby voice is so endearing and it's going to be bittersweet to "lose" that on the TVs, but I'm really excited to hear how they clean up (or not) the production on Debut. I mean I know they're going to make it as accurate as possible to the originals, but I mean in the actual sound mixing and stuff. Because I feel like this album could benefit the most from some of that! Which is not to say that the original is bad BECAUSE IT'S NOT, but I think there is subtle stuff they can do with the mixing/blending/instrumentals/treble/etc. to make it shine even more.

Evolutionary biologists at Johns Hopkins Medicine report they have combined PET scans of modern pigeons along with studies of dinosaur fossils to help answer an enduring question in biology: How did the brains of birds evolve to enable them to fly? The answer, they say, appears to be an adaptive increase in the size of the cerebellum in some fossil vertebrates. The cerebellum is a brain region responsible for movement and motor control. The research findings are published in the Jan. 31 issue of the Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

Being into Palaeontology and Biology now means I can’t look at WoF the same way again because the amateur scientist in my brain is freaking out over how much stuff happens in such a short amount of time. You’re telling me these dragons diversified, evolved, and adapted into multiple different tribes throughout the span of a few thousand years, and at two different points in time??? Yeah right. Hell when you think about it, the history of the tribes and what they describe create the implication that it only took a few centuries. That’s insane. How am I supposed to insert spec evo into these fantasy dragons NOW Tui?!??!?!?!

In the Sandman, since Dream 'came into existence once lifeforms capable of dreaming appeared in the universe', I wonder what that lifeform is and what did it dream of. Like what is the first dream in the universe about.
