This is the answer to the question wether or not Zutara could be endgame in the Netflix reboot...
Some things are right, other, well, not so much...
I mean, do Aang and Katara really work well? Do they even work okayish? Do they share a similar vision?
Wouldn't Katara have many opportunities to ensure justice as the wife of the Fire Lord - as a literal QUEEN? Wouldn't that even be her daily job?
And Zuko's gotta do, what's best for the FN but wouldn't it be best for the Fire Nation to have a Queen whose heritage is different - it would ensure an alliance between the FN and at least the SWT and would be a demonstration to the world that the Fire Nation is changing and adapting, right?
I agree, that Katara would be an outsider in the FN but so she was in her own Tribe as the ONLY water bender in the Southern Water Tribe.
An she loves to take action and stand up to oppression and help people in need. She would absolutely kick ass as the Queen of the most powerful Nation. And Zuko would absolutely love to see Katara kick ass and put people in there places and help the ones in need.
And seriously, what opportunities did she have on Aang's side - as his supposed girlfriend who was actually his baby sitter and mother figure?
What did she accomplish? How important was she to the United Republic of Nations? How important was she to the restoration of the Air Nomad culture? How important was she to the people in need?
She got the job to give birth to the next air bender and to calm the fuckin Avatar down, whenever he threw a temper tantrum and activated the Avatar State! Great opportunities!
I mean imagine the opportunity to use blood bending for good. Who would encourage her to use her special powers for good and who would condemn her 'dark side' and tell her that she is acting like Jet? Who would understand that no type of bending is inherently good or bad and it comes down to how and what for you use your powers and who would be disappointed if Katara even once would think about the possibilities? Who would let Katara be her own person and view her as such and who would see her as 'the Avatar's girl'?
Who would she work not just well but great if not best with?
What would have been the better life for badass, water bending master, blood bending, kick ass, war hero, Water Tribe, feminist, care giving Sifu Katara? A life as 'the Avatar's girl' or a life as a fuckin QUEEN???
You asked for headcanons? Well, these are a few entries from my google doc that's titled "deranged Lestappen fic ideas":
Well they were labelled "deranged" for a reason, okay??
🤩🥰 Oh my dearest Elle, if you ever have a vacancy in your brain please let me know! I’d pay top dollar to move in and live out the rest of my days sunbathing in your deranged, utterly glorious thoughts!
I love all of these ideas they’re hilarious, and unhinged, and scrumptious!
2. All I can say is chefs kiss 👩🍳💋 it can’t be Charles driving if his pista is parked between the lines 💀
3. I’ve not seen Freaky Friday 🫣 but the body swap idea has been drooling, and them being able to understand and appreciate each other on a whole new level 🥹
4. Sounds like it could be riddled with miscommunication and angst and I’m spiraling at the mere thought of it 🌀
5. Is truly iconic lestappen material, and my favourite one from your headcanons! 😍 the “ex-fiancé” makes me want to scream, it is just so Max 🫠
You make me so happy and giddy, I pass along my endlessly gratitude to you for making my day! ❤️
also like. edmund as a character. his whole arc in tltwatw is about learning to think, to be thoughtful and kind and respectful when it's needed but not to let go of his independence. to follow orders when they're right instead of rebelling because he can, but to break those same orders when he knows it's time to choose to do what's right. and then in prince caspian, edmund is the big brother. peter is older, pete has more technical authority, but edmund is the one who really understands. edmund kills the witch. edmund believes lucy because he remembers how stupid it is to dismiss her just because he didn't see it too. edmund is king edmund the just because he understands the difference between pride and justice. peter is magnificent, he's strong and powerful and good at getting people to listen to him, but he's prideful and brave more than he is courageous and wise. edmund lost his pride when he betrayed his siblings and never wanted to pick it up again, because pride is what got him in his mess in the first place. and so edmund becomes the voice of reason. edmund stands in peter's shadow and doesn't complain because he knows this is how it's supposed to be. he doesn't need to lead, he just needs to guide.
also don't even get me started on how the only people who defeat the white witch are aslan and edmund. edmund breaks the wand while peter fights somebody else, aslan kills the witch. peter is tempted by the power and edmund shatters the illusion from behind as somebody who's already fallen for her tricks.
