"k."
"k lol, i'm still gonna marry you even though you're mean to me" - borusara
Happy Wife, Happy Life
BoruSara.
“‘Kay,” Sarada murmured. Her cheeks puffed then turned her back on her fiancé.
Boruto groaned. It shouldn’t be this hard to pick which fucking flowers to use for their reception. They had sets for crying out loud and the lady assured them that there was no shame in picking from their preselected bundles. That’s what they’re for, convenience.
“Saradaaa!” Boruto whined.
“Hmph!” She crossed her arms across her chest.
“You do know that I’m still going to marry you even though you’re mean to me, right?”
Heck she should know it only makes him like her more. Boruto’s just a sad masochist that way.
“Well, you better!” Sarada stomped over to him. “But I won’t show up if you go with these roses.”
“Why? Everyone loves roses. It’s a classic.”
“There are other flowers besides roses, you know.”
“Really?” Boruto dumbly asked. It’s a mistake. He should have known. He quickly crossed his arms over his head, praying that his arms would soften the blow that was surely coming.
“I’m breaking up with you,” Sarada deadpanned.
“Noooo!” Boruto cried. “Over fucking roses?!”
“The only flower in existence.” Sarada rolled her eyes.
“Fine!” Boruto relented. “Come on,” he took her hand in his, “We’re going back to Inojin. Even if he’s ripping us off. That bastard.”
Sarada happily wrapped her other hand around his, too. “Yay!” She cheered, a big grin on her face.
“I’m still marrying you.” Boruto rolled his eyes.
“I don’t have to be mean if you just give me what I want.”
“Right.”
Boruto had to remember that. His dad often did say, “happy wife, happy life.”

Dawn
Set during the time skip - Boruto gradually realizing his feelings for Sarada
Looking back now, Boruto had always known that he loved Sarada.
The realization had crept into his mind rather slowly, quietly, as a silent wanting to have her close to him, to be able to hear her voice and talk to her when his chest felt heavy and feel the warmth of her palm on his shoulder when he wanted to scream in despair.
In the years he spent away with Sasuke, he would glance at the moon, the same moon she could see, and wonder if he ever slipped into her thoughts the way she did into his.
He often found himself wishing he could spar with her, have her see him succeed after weeks of working on something, and catch the faint smile in the corners of her mouth when she thought he wasn't looking.
Boruto liked seeing her smile. And he loved that concealed smile more than anything because it was meant for him and him only. It made his chest swell with pride and blood rush through his body like a force driving him forward.
On rare nights when fatigue stifled his fears, she would come to him in his dreams, right before dawn.
In the dream, she would lie beside him and hold his hand on the pillow, touch his hair, run her fingertips over the features of his face, the edges of his lips, and his scar.
He would close his eyes and lean into her touch, tired and momentarily oblivious to the outside world.
Stay. Please, stay.
She never did. Boruto would wake up, wishing he could disappear, just for another moment, to escape the guilt that tore at his gut.
Sometimes they would sit on his father's stone face and talk about something ordinary. Something that didn't involve saving thousands of souls or stopping mass destruction.
The dream would be so vivid Boruto could even hear the echo of Thunder Train somewhere in the distance, see how the gold of the sun changed the color of her hair, and feel the wind on his face, a feeling painfully familiar. He would wake up more homesick than ever.
The nearer his return to the Hidden Leaf drew, the more often he dreamed of her running into his embrace at the gate.
No matter how hard he tried to feel her with his senses, to recall the scent of her skin, the warmth of her body, the rise and fall of her chest, and the beat of her heart, in his dream Sarada remained out of his reach, even though she was right there in his arms.
Longing for home and fear of never hugging her again blended into each other, never to be set apart.
It was after he returned to the village and spent days and nights training, fighting, talking, and going on missions with her that he first felt the urge to touch her lips with his own, to hold her and - kiss her, and have her kiss him back, and - his whole body shivered with some electric feeling at the thought.
At first, it had felt just as natural as it felt ridiculous. Sarada was his friend. They grew up together. He doubted she felt anything similar about him. Not that Boruto had much time or brainpower to analyze as they were saving the world.
All he knew for sure was that he needed her to be safe because if anything happened to her after everything that happened to his family, he would most certainly have lost his mind.
And when Sarada stepped into his arms and kissed him in front of the five great shinobi nations upon his return from the battle with Kawaki, Boruto stood frozen in shock for what could have been a second or an hour, overwhelmed with the feel of her mouth on his.
Then his arms wrapped around her waist, and he drew her closer, as close as he could without hurting them both, and his chest grew heavy with the sobs she swallowed, both his and hers, sobs of sorrow and relief.
They knelt on the ground together, shaking and holding on to one another, and that was when Boruto knew that there never was and never will be anyone else on this Earth or beyond it that he would love more than he loved her.
I am genuinely interested to hear how this one felt to you guys (if it gave you any feels at all, that is)

boruto uzumaki x sarada uchiha
--
prompt:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
--
summary: "Sarada, you dropped this!" Sasuke called as Sarada closed the front door. Realizing she was gone, he sighed and flipped the little piece of paper over.
"Can't wait for tomorrow ;) -B" It read.
--
rating: T for themes and language, but even that is a reach tbh.
words: 1952
notes: they are 18 here. thank you to @thatcatangelwriter and @konoha--files for your prompts! this ended up being a LOT longer than I anticipated. Hope it's decent! lol.
--
Sarada was furiously picking through the clean laundry basket that sat on the couch, finding a pink t-shirt (How did that get in there?) and a pair of shorts to wear as pajamas as Sasuke slowly sipped from his mug, a stark contrast in energies in the Uchiha home.
"Why the rush?" Sasuke asked, sitting at the table, still milking that mug of coffee as if his life depended on it.
"I'm not in a rush, I'm just excited to see her. She's been on a mission since last week," Sarada replied, carefully folding the clothes she put in her bag despite her haste.
"Sure seems like a rush," Sasuke mumbled. Sakura spoke over the sound of her knife chopping vegetables. "When will you be home?"
"Sometime tomorrow. I have to leave ChoCho's mid-morning anyway because I promised Boruto I'd train at noon."
"Okay, sounds good honey," Sakura replied. When she looked up, Sarada had already picked up her bag from where it sat in the living room and was putting on her shoes.
"Bye Mama, Papa! Love you!"
"Be careful!" Sakura yelled after her. As she turned to leave, Sasuke noticed a piece of paper had fallen from her bag to the floor next to the table where he sat.
"Sarada, you dropped this!" he called as the front door closed. Realizing she was gone, he sighed and turned the paper over.
"Can't wait for tomorrow ;) -B", it read.
It took everything in Sasuke at that moment not to burn their house down.
"What is it, Anata?" Sakura asked, sensing her husband's sudden rage.
He stood up and put the paper on the counter so Sakura could see it.
"He's going to wish he'd never been born."
Sakura sighed. "Sarada would be extremely upset if you killed him. So would Naruto."
"I make no promises," Sasuke replied, taking the paper back and sitting at the table again, finishing his now cold coffee in two swigs.
--
"Do your parents think you're at ChoCho's again?" Boruto asked, comfortably under the covers while Sarada, dressed only in his pink shirt, was curled up at his side. The last of the sunrise was peeking through Boruto's curtains, painting them orange-yellow.
"Yeah," She replied softly. "I don't like lying to them, but until you grow some balls and tell my dad I guess I'm going to have to," She teased, poking his side.
"Hey now, last night you weren't complaining about my-" He was brutally cut off with another poke to his side, this one more like a jab.
"Ow, damn it! And why do I have to tell him anyway?"
"Because it's the gentleman-like thing to do," Sarada replied. "I know for a fact your mother taught you how to be a gentleman, you just choose to be annoying."
"You're literally lecturing me while half-naked in my bed and you choose to call me annoying?"
"Whatever," Sarada pushed him away and sat up. "I'm putting on real clothes. We have training."
"Ugh, don't even talk about that."
Sarada had just finished putting on her mission gear when there was a knock on the door. She froze where she stood.
"Yeah?" Boruto called.
"Hey, uh," Naruto said on the other side of the door, clearly uncomfortable. "Just so you know, I know Sarada is with you,"
Sarada's eyes went wide as they locked onto Boruto's across the room, their expression identical.
"Not because I heard anything, dattebayo! Just uh, Sasuke dropped by and wanted me to let you guys know that only Boruto is to report to the training grounds. Sarada, you can go home whenever you like."
Boruto's face changed colors until he was ghost white, and he put a hand to his forehead. "Just...come in, Dad."
Sarada was sitting at his desk chair now, tapping her bare feet on his floor. It looked fairly innocent.
Naruto hesitantly opened the door. "Just didn't want to see anything I shouldn't!"
"DAD!"
"Sorry!" He closed the door behind him and faced the two teenagers, Boruto's face painted with panic and Sarada's in terrified comprehension, trying to figure out how the hell her father could have figured out she wasn't at ChoCho's last night.
"Guys, I don't give a damn if you stay here. I don't give a damn what you do as long as you're responsible about it. You are being responsible, right?"
"OH MY GOD, DAD!" Boruto pulled the covers up to his eyes so all that could be seen was the top of his head. Sarada didn't move, just mumbled a "Yes, sir".
"Okay, great. I'm happy for you guys, whatever is going on here. Sasuke probably won't be as happy at first, but he'll come around, I'm sure!" Naruto still had his hand on the doorknob. "Just, uh, good luck today, Bolt."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Boruto whined, his face still buried in his comforter.
Naruto didn't give him an answer, just escaped the uncomfortable situation as fast as he could.
Boruto lifted his face from his sheets and looked at Sarada, who still looked panicked.
"I'm going to die today, aren't I?"
--
Boruto approached the training ground fifteen minutes early, determined to try to get back on Sasuke's good side.
"How the hell am I getting back on his good side after he basically just found out I'm doing his daughter?"
He stood there deep in thought until he heard the familiar sound of a sword being unsheathed and swung.
Boruto dodged just in time, holding a kunai to counterattack.
Sasuke, one visible eye glowing crimson, stepped forward as Boruto stepped back, still holding the kunai.
"You have two options, tell me the truth, the whole truth, or you will be sleeping in the hospital tonight," he said, his voice surprisingly level despite the intensity of his gaze. Still holding his sword, he shoved the piece of paper with Boruto's note on it into his chest as if it was a pile of dog shit.
"Okay, okay!" Boruto started, still falling back. He looked down at the note, now in his hand.
Damnit.
Still walking backward as Sasuke advanced, he let the note fall to the ground, cursing his own stupidity. Why'd he even initial it in the first place?
He wasn't usually one to back out of a fight with his sensei, but this was a death wish. "I'm in love with her! I've always been in love with her!"
Sasuke stopped suddenly, and even Boruto couldn't believe what came out of his mouth. Sure, that's how he felt, but he's never told anyone that before. Not even Sarada knew that.
"I..I just want to protect her," He continued, hoping to use Sasuke's shock to his advantage. "I promised her a long time ago that I would protect her and that hasn't changed. Our... relations are new, but I have never and would never take advantage of her!"
"Jesus, Boruto," Sasuke sighed.
"You wanted the whole truth!"
"Watch your mouth. I"m not messing around today."
"I know, and neither am I!" Boruto replied quickly. He sighed and dropped his kunai.
"I should have told you when it started. I'll admit I was scared. She didn't want to lie to you, she wanted me to tell you so she didn't have to lie. I chickened out, and I'm sorry."
"Why did she insist on you telling me?"
"Because it's my responsibility to come to you and get your blessing. Hell, you're my sensei. It's even more important that I'm the one to do it."
Sasuke put his sword back in its sheath. "She's right about that," he started. "I'm equally pissed at both of you. She's no longer a child, and I'd rather you date her than any of those knucklehead jounin that she complains to Sakura about."
"Wait, what?"
"Shut up and listen or I swear to God..." Sasuke started, his hand already nearing the handle of his sword again.
Boruto swallowed hard, still standing there like a child who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
"You have my blessing, and I will tell Sarada the same thing. However, you both will stop lying to me. Understood?"
"Yes, sensei."
Sasuke sighed and turned around. "If we train today, I will probably kill you. We will have today's session tomorrow. I suggest you leave before I change my mind."
And Boruto ran, a grin slowly appearing over his face.
--
He ran until he found her, walking along the market district. He stopped running and tried and failed to casually walk up to her while out of breath.
”How did it go with your mom?” He asked her.
She jumped to the side a little, not expecting him to be standing there.
”Geez, you scared me. It was fine. She just gave me a speech on not lying and I should have just told them and they are still supportive no matter what but that wasn’t right of me. All that. I knew it all already.”
Boruto nudged her shoulder while they walked, looking at various fruit stands, coffee shops and clothing stores. ”I’m sorry you have to deal with this now. I should have just told your dad when all this started.”
”You’re not the only one who lied. I appreciate it, though. Speaking of my dad, you went to see him, right?”
Boruto glanced down at the mud on his pants. “Yeah, I did.”
"Well, you're not dead, so that already went better than expected," She said after she turned her head to look at him, and then looked back at the boutique window to the right of them. "What did you tell him?"
Boruto took a breath. "That I'm in love with you."
The way she turned her head and stopped in her tracks, he was surprised she didn't get whiplash.
"What did you just say?"
Boruto grabbed her hand. "I'm in love with you, and that's exactly what I told your dad."
"You...you love me?" Sarada asked, her hand small in his.
"Always have, always will," Boruto said with confidence as he smiled.
"That's a pretty bold statement," she replied softly, staring down at their hands together.
"I also told him we were having relations, but that's beside the point."
Sarada's face turned a bright shade of red as she instinctively squeezed Boruto's hand way too tight. "You said what?"
Boruto winced and tried to wiggle his hand out of her iron grip. "Never mind, you're kinda in for it because you lied too, but he gave us his blessing at least!"
”Okay, I understand that, but how do you tell my dad you’re in love with me before you even tell ME you’re in love with me?”
”Sarada, my hand is going numb.”
“You are so incredibly lucky I love you too, idiot,” she said, still squeezing his hand.
”Yes I am an idiot, will you please let me go now?”
Sarada relaxed her hand, and Boruto took his back from her, shaking it to try to get the feeling to return to it. "Now I'm even more curious. What else did you say to him? Because there's no way you only said that and he gave us his blessing.”
Boruto looked up from trying to regain the feeling in his hand to Sarada, cheeks still flushed pink. She was so beautiful. He really was an idiot, for not telling Sasuke and for waiting so long to finally have this. He took her hand, pulling her and encouraging her to walk forward.
He put her hand on the underside of his elbow as they started to walk together. "Maybe I'll tell you another time,” he told her with a smirk.
--
This will probably go through revisions as I reread it and cringe, but here's the beta version for now!
Thanks for reading!

All roads lead to you. —BoruSara.
Hello, it's been years since i wrote anything borusara related but i've been in the mood lately and wanted to get this out of my system. Enjoy my small drabble and i may write more in the future. ♥️
Boruto and Sarada had a silent agreement.
No cheesy love confesions, no big romantic scenes were needed between them, their bond slowly developed through the years from childhood friends to rivals to teammates, they basically trusted each other with their lives. Just one look was enough to understand what the other was saying or feeling, that's how close they were.
Hence why they never needed all the fireworks and flying to the moon to know their hearts were one. Besides, they were fighting literal gods and avoiding death and destruction since they were 13, the day didn't have enough hours to spare sometime and go on a date like any other people in love do, so they realized about the depth of their feelings at a very slow pace.
They've been together since babies, both very used to each presence as they were used to see the sun in the sky everyday.
People may wonder when everything changed, that's an easy answer, Boruto could say, after the Momoshiki invasion, when he realized his life goal was to support Sarada as a Hokage and protect her. Of course, he wanted to be like Sasuke, a free spirit roaming around but always helping the village on his own way, however, that would be meaningless if the person in charge wasn't Sarada.
He has witnessed her determination to achieve her goals, all her efforts and late night training sessions just because she felt she didn't give her 100% that day. She has helped him too, as a shoulder to lean on, someone to put him back on track if he got distracted.
He knew Sarada wanted him to be the best version of himself and that's why she called him out whenever he acted reckless, and although they often fought because of that, he knew it was coming from worry.
He had plenty of time to think about what Sarada meant to him the years they were separated, when Boruto left to train and control the new powers he had, but honestly, there wasn't much thinking needed when she was always his priority, heck, 13 year old Boruto knew he wanted to be with her as her support but it took him to be apart and miss her to understand he just didn't want to be a right hand man because she was her teammate and closest friend.
When he thought about his future all he could see was seeing Sarada everyday and bringing her lunch to the Hokage office because he would be damned if he allowed her to develop the same unhealthy habits of his old man, no sir, he was ready to prepare lunch for her everyday and make sure she rested well and was happy. You see, it is not normal to have these thoughts for your just friend, even if he was Mr. Oblivious he wasn't stupid.
Love is not an easy topic and he thought he should be more scared and worried about falling for her best friend, but that wasn't the case.
Falling in love with Sarada felt right, natural, as if it was always meant to be and he wouldn't want to fall for anyone else. A small voice in his head asked the important question "what if she doesn't love me back?", Boruto decided to brush it off and just wait to meet her again.
All those worries went away the moment he laid his eyes on her at the village gates. She waited for him all those years holding in her hand the small bolt necklace he gave her as a promise to see each other again, and the look she gave him was what gave her away. Midnight eyes full of sparkling stars and longing, but the only thing she said was "Welcome home".
He nodded and closed the distance between them with a warm hug whispering on her ear "I'm home now". It was crystal clear, the beating of their hearts matched as much as their souls.
Boruto's POV is so fun to write, lots of Sarada in that blondish head. Should i write my vision of Sarada's pov next? We'll see.

BoruSara Young Adult Theories
Imagine Sarada being the main target for her Sharingan (bc they suppose she’ll be easier to hunt than Sasuke) and after two close calls, Boruto starts having nightmares where they take her eyes. He wakes up screaming after he finds her. Why am I like this 😭

Info to use in fanfics
Tumblr media
Kawaki’s birthday is 5/13. Kawaki obviously likes taiyaki. Extra text talks about his eye and his karma and how he can use shinjutsu and that he swapped lives with Boruto. Naruto and Hinata are trapped in his timeless “space.”
Sarada likes black tea flavored things (e.g. black tea scones, black tea cookies, black tea macarons… these are some of the things I’ve personally eaten). “For some reason” she is immune to omnipotence and retained her memories. Due to Sarada’s opposition to the village’s decision to execute Boruto, she is still a genin. Other stuff is just talking about her chidori and the fact that she’s Sasuke’s only kid.
Mitsuki was Boruto’s former best friend :( and now he’s risking his life to save Kawaki.
Himawari is confirmed to be training under InoShikaCho to be a ninja
Sumire kept her memories like Sarada and works for the scientific ninja tools ppl. Her tag says she’s a sharp minded scientist
Shikamaru opposes it but he’s under the process of becoming the 8th Hokage.
And that’s the jest of it :D

After the time skip
Hinata and Sakura were turned into evil vampires and now they are living in a big castle forever.
Hinata: You guys have only one option. Join us or kill us.
Naruto: Hinata...
Himawari and Boruto: Mom...
Sakura: That's right. If you don't want to join us, just do it already because we won't come back to Konoha only if it is to destroy that place.
Sarada: Mother...
Sasuke: Sakura...
Hinata and Sakura:
5, 4, 3, 2...
Himawari: Wait! I...I...I'll join you, mother! I spent too much time without you and I can't lose you again.
Himawari runs and hugs Hinata.
Hinata: Good choice, daughter! I love you!
Himawari: I love you too!
Hinata looks at Boruto.
Hinata: Boruto...
Boruto looks at his father.
Boruto: Sorry, father and Sasuke. I can't lose my mother. She is very important to me.
Boruto loses his tough posture and runs to hug Hinata.
Sarada looks at her father.
Sarada: Sorry father, but it's mom...
Sarada runs and hugs Sakura.
Sasuke: Naruto...
Naruto: Sasuke...
Sasuke: You know that I tried to be a better person, right?
Naruto nods.
Sasuke: But I can't lose my family again. They are all I have. Sorry...
Sasuke goes to hug his family.
Hinata looks at Naruto while she hugs her children. Sakura and Sasuke also look at him:
Hinata: Naruto...please. We are your family. We love you!
Naruto: But, you are evil.
Hinata: So, kill me then!
Boruto and Himawari: Father, no please! If you ever hurt mom, we will never forgive you!
Naruto: You guys know I could never do that to your mother...
Sakura: Naruto, please! Sasuke and I are like your siblings. We can be a happy family forever. Don't you want that?
Naruto: Yeah, but not like that...
Sasuke: So, you'll have to kill us!
Boruto and Himawari hug their mother tightly.
Naruto: Never!
Hinata and Sakura: So, join us!
Naruto closes his eyes and says: I'm sorry, Konoha! I'm sorry, father! I'm sorry Jiraya! I'm sorry, guys!
Naruto cries and goes to hug his family.
Everyone looks at Kawaki, who was silent all this time.
Hinata: Kawaki...
Kawaki looks at Naruto, who just nods. Kawaki goes to his family and hugs them.
Hinata and Sakura look at each other with evil smiles and think while they hug their families:
'We did it. We finally have our families. With our children and husbands turned, Konoha and the world will be dust in our hands.'

How long was Deepest Affections supposed to be?
Tbh, I don’t really know since we never finished the outline 🤔
A few months back, I had this idea to put an angsty but also exciting twist to it where the fic stopped. I wrote around a thousand words, I think? But never finished it ^^;
It involved faking a relationship with Kagura while Boruto was away to save Boruto. I know that doesn’t make sense, but I’ll leave it at that for now. 🤪

Moments before the final battle between Boruto and Kawaki - Kawaki asking for Sarada's forgiveness. BoruSara #idiots in love
HELLOOO everyone! I've been quite busy these last few months and I can't tell you how much I've missed writing! Hope you like this one, I really loved putting it together 😁😁
P.S. The title was inspired by this scene
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having finally calmed his breathing, Boruto raised his head to see Kawaki looking at him from above.
It was a look of distant sorrow, and a very present determination.
With the knowledge that it would be over soon, a weight he had been carrying for years now left his soul, and filled it with a new dread.
He got up and dusted off his clothes and hands, glancing one more time around the battlefield, subconsciously stalling the inevitable.
Kawaki, already at his feet and looking perfectly clean, raised an eyebrow in an impatient manner. Boruto nodded in agreement. Now.
He frowned in confusion when Kawaki's eyes left him abruptly and drifted to something behind his back, when he felt Sarada's presence at his side. Her eyes were fixed on Kawaki, and to Boruto's shock, Kawaki's expression ever so slightly softened.
He didn't know how the rest of them felt at that brief moment of crazy hope, but his own heart had nearly stopped.
"Forgive me," Kawaki said quietly, as if he might choke on his own words if he spoke just a bit louder.
Forgive me for turning against you, forgive me, for I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't believe it was the right thing to do.
A painfully long heartbeat passed before Sarada responded with a calm and simple, "I forgive you."
She stepped toward him. "And I ask that you forgive me as well."
Kawaki nodded once, and with that, any look of sorrow was gone from his face. There was no changing his mind.
Boruto clenched his jaw, suppressing a wave of disappointment. He had already known it was going to be this way, known that Kawaki wasn't going to let go just like that, not after everything. It had to be solved, and it had to be solved now.
Whether out of need for reassurance or something else entirely, he looked at Sarada over his shoulder.
For a second it seemed like she would let him go without saying anything. Before he had time to process what she was going to do, Sarada swiftly closed the space between them, rising to her toes, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
Boruto blinked in surprise, but relaxed instantly, putting his hands on her back and drawing her closer.
He allowed himself to close his eyes for a moment, feeling strangely at peace as he focused on the rhythmic thud of her heartbeat.
"Remember who you are and what you're fighting for," she whispered, slightly breathless and shivering as she pulled away just enough to touch his forehead with hers.
Her hand slid to his chest to clutch the front of his shirt, almost as if she was fighting the urge to spread her palm and feel his heart.
"And keep in mind that there are people waiting for you here."
In that moment of not knowing if he'd return alive or not, all Boruto could think about was that he desperately wanted to feel this again, her body's warmth against his, her arms holding him. Her.
He lowered his face, brushing his nose against hers, lips close enough to kiss her if she would only raise her head.
Sarada looked at him with those eyes black as the darkest night, knowing what he wanted, what he felt, and didn't pull away. Her grip on him tightened, but she didn't kiss him.
A voiceless plea for his return.
"I am not above killing you from behind, if that's how you'd prefer it," said Kawaki, his voice rising.
Boruto sighed, releasing her reluctantly.
He turned toward Kawaki. "Where's the fun in that?" he asked lightly, as it were not his life they were talking about.
They were gone in a blink of an eye, and Sarada could do nothing but watch after them. A sense of foreboding had taken a place in her heart and she touched the screw necklace Boruto gave her, praying that they would, indeed, come back alive.

surprise!
boruto uzumaki x sarada uchiha
--
summary:
“...You’re what?” Naruto said after a pause, confusion laced in his tone.
Sarada almost laughed, Boruto reacted the exact same way when she told him.
Standing next to her, he looked like he was going to pass out, but really, it was Sarada who should be feeling faint.
She just told her boss that she’s carrying his grandchild.
Aged up, married Borusara. ONE-SHOT.

As Boruto and Sarada walked up the steps to Hokage Tower after a mission, Boruto kept stealing glances at his wife, obviously nervous.
“We have to tell him today, right?” He said quietly.
Sarada looked up at him from the mission report she was double-checking as she was walking up the stairs, making Boruto want to put both arms out in front of her in case she tripped. “I can’t go on any more missions without going through the proper channels. It makes me nervous. Without making an official statement I’m putting my health at risk, and my new status too.”
Boruto sighed. They had been married just over a year, and right before the mission they had just got back from, Sarada found out she was pregnant.
Great! Boruto initially thought. Baby! Cool! Married couples are supposed to have babies, right?
And then the thought hit him: how the hell was he going to look his father-in-law, his sensei , in the eye and say, “Hey, guess what! I knocked up your daughter!”?
Granted, they were married, but still!
“And that means we have to tell your parents, right?”
Sarada looked up again. “Well, my mom already knows. I knew she wouldn’t say anything, and I wanted to get checked out before we left for the mission.”
Boruto could have died then and there. “Sarada, you could have at least told me to prepare for my impending doom in case your mom said something to your dad!”
She rolled her eyes. “You’re so dramatic. You’ll be fine.”
“Speak for yourself!” Boruto yelled as they approached the door. “You’re the one he can’t hurt! Now for more than one reason, you’re carrying-” Sarada slapped her hand over his mouth, moving closer so she was in his face.
“Do you want all of Hokage Tower to know I’m pregnant?!”
Boruto moved her hand away from his mouth, mischief glowing in his eyes.
“I mean…if it makes that weird guy at the mission desk quit flirting with you, then sure,” He said, grinning.
Sarada turned away from him and kept walking. “He does not flirt with me! And yet five seconds ago you were about to piss your pants at the thought of telling my dad.”
“That’s different and you know it!”
Their bickering went on like that until they reached Naruto’s office door. Sarada took in a deep breath and raised her fist to knock on the door.
“Are you nervous about telling my dad now?” Boruto whispered playfully in her ear, making her jump.
“Not because I’m scared he’ll hurt me, but because he’s my boss, yeah, a little,” Sarada admitted in a stark tone, a little over a whisper.
Boruto leaned back, still smiling to himself, one of his “ha-ha I win” smiles that made Sarada want to smack him across the mouth. She knew he was making that face, so she didn’t even look at him and fight the urge. Instead, she knocked on the door.
“Come in!” sang Naruto’s voice from the inside.
Sarada pushed open the door with Boruto in tow. “Hey, guys!” Naruto greeted happily. “Glad you’re back! I’ll take that, thanks!” He said when Sarada handed him the mission report.
“Whenever you’re ready, whoever wants to start.”
“Actually, Lord Seventh,” Sarada started to say, voice shaking ever so slightly that only Boruto could pick it up. “I wanted to make you aware of something before I start debriefing.”
“Damnit, are you guys breaking up? Boruto, what did you do?”
“What the-I didn’t do anything!” Boruto started to protest.
“No, no, nothing like that!” Sarada said to Naruto before turning her head so she was facing him and said softly, “Well, technically you did do something.”
He said nothing else.
“I wanted to make an official statement to you as a change of health status, and I can get my mom to sign off on it if you need. But um…I wanted to let you know, I’m pregnant.”
There was a pause.
“...You’re what ?” Naruto said, confusion laced in his tone.
Sarada almost laughed, Boruto reacted the exact same way when she told him.
Standing next to her, he looked like he was going to pass out, but really, it was Sarada who should be feeling faint.
She just told her boss that she’s carrying his grandchild.
“I’m..I’m pregnant,” Sarada said again, voice shaking noticeably now.
Another pause.
“HOLY SHIT guys! That’s awesome!” Naruto started yelling, getting up out of his chair to pull both of them into a hug with each arm. “I’m gonna be a grandpa, dattebayo!”
“We shouldn’t have said anything,” Boruto muttered into his dad’s armpit as Sarada giggled.
As soon as he released them, that’s when all the questions came. “When did you find out? How long has Boruto known? Have you had appointments? When are you due?” They all made Sarada’s head spin.
“Dad…Dad…DAD!” Boruto trying and failing to interrupt him. “We barely know anything right now. We found out right before this last mission.”
Naruto’s smile faltered a bit. “And you took it anyway, Sarada?”
Sarada started to get flustered, “I had already accepted and I didn’t want to decline so last minute, and we knew we would tell you as soon as we got back. I can still take missions, I still feel comfortable doing that, I want to do as much as I can until I can’t…” Her rambling was making Boruto chuckle. Always the goodie-two-shoes.
“It’s alright,” Naruto said, chuckling too. “Since today is when you’re officially telling me in a professional manner, all your missions from here on out will add an extra member to your team, for your safety and for the baby’s. So this last mission won’t have you as having an alternated health status on record.”
That made Boruto’s eyes go wide. Up until now they always referred to Sarada’s new status as just that, or her pregnancy. This was the first time anyone has referred to it as a baby, besides him in his ten minute freak out session as soon as Sarada told him about her pregnancy.
It made his heart swell in this new, funny way, and it made him wonder what it would feel like to actually see his child earthside.
“Okay guys, get out of my office. You can debrief tomorrow. Right now you have to go tell Sasuke about this! I’m assuming Sakura already knows if she cleared you to go on your last mission. He’ll be excited, I’m sure!”
Sarada smiled at Boruto expectantly, whose face had gone ghost white.
Great!

just wanted to put it out there that telling me you don’t like my story is not constructive feedback, it’s criticism.
i will not tolerate any comments on my story that are hateful or contain any sort of criticism. if you don’t like my writing or if you don’t like loss, that’s fine, but don’t expect me to sit there and take you shitting on my writing because it doesn’t “meet your expectations.”
i am very open to constructive feedback that can genuinely help me grow as a writer, but if you feel the need to comment something that isn’t nice then don’t say anything at all. there are plenty of stories i have seen on here that i’ve thought were absolute garbage and not once have i ever felt inclined to voice those thoughts out loud. this person had the nerve to tell me that i shouldn’t get offended or delete hateful comments when it’s just disrespectful to say things like that. so yeah, i’m gonna delete those comments bc they do not benefit me at all nor do they help me improve my writing.
loss is the first story that i have written in years, and sure there are things that i could change, chances are i may go back and rewrite some things but that does not give anyone the right to tell me that my story isn’t good. currently working on deleting this comment but for some reason ff.net won’t let me, so if anyone has any helpful tips that would be greatly appreciated.
on another note, i have been working on chapter 9 of loss and will hopefully have it out soon. i have another round of exams and then finals immediately after, so this will be the busiest part of my semester up until summer break. if i don’t have it completed before finals, it will be after, which is early may.
this is just another reminder to be kind and treat people with respect. to the person that left that comment, i encourage you to be more progressive with the way you word things bc it came off as disrespectful and nothing about it was helpful towards how i could become a better writer.
