“‘Kay,” Sarada murmured. Her cheeks puffed then turned her back on her fiancé.
Boruto groaned. It shouldn’t be this hard to pick which fucking flowers to use for their reception. They had sets for crying out loud and the lady assured them that there was no shame in picking from their preselected bundles. That’s what they’re for, convenience.
“Saradaaa!” Boruto whined.
“Hmph!” She crossed her arms across her chest.
“You do know that I’m still going to marry you even though you’re mean to me, right?”
Heck she should know it only makes him like her more. Boruto’s just a sad masochist that way.
“Well, you better!” Sarada stomped over to him. “But I won’t show up if you go with these roses.”
“Why? Everyone loves roses. It’s a classic.”
“There are other flowers besides roses, you know.”
“Really?” Boruto dumbly asked. It’s a mistake. He should have known. He quickly crossed his arms over his head, praying that his arms would soften the blow that was surely coming.
“I’m breaking up with you,” Sarada deadpanned.
“Noooo!” Boruto cried. “Over fucking roses?!”
“The only flower in existence.” Sarada rolled her eyes.
“Fine!” Boruto relented. “Come on,” he took her hand in his, “We’re going back to Inojin. Even if he’s ripping us off. That bastard.”
Sarada happily wrapped her other hand around his, too. “Yay!” She cheered, a big grin on her face.
“I’m still marrying you.” Boruto rolled his eyes.
“I don’t have to be mean if you just give me what I want.”
“Right.”
Boruto had to remember that. His dad often did say, “happy wife, happy life.”

Sasuke sat at the dinner table, eyes lowered to his food as he poked a mushroom. His wife was sitting next to him, chatting animatedly with his daughter, and the boy who sat across him. He lifted his eyes to take in the boy’s appearance for the third time that night. Although this was the third, he still did not feel too pleased seeing him.
The first time was when he entered the restaurant, looking sharp in a custom suit, one that he recognized quickly, as it was from a set he had designed for his politic friend, Naruto. It was probably a year ago, when Naruto had ordered two suits, and two gowns from Sasuke for his inauguration.
The design was trendy back then, and although that wave had passed, the suit still looked classic, just as all of Sasuke’s designs were. Boruto would have gotten praise for choosing this suit, yet Sasuke’s eye twitched at his tie selection. It was hot pink. Who does that? Why would someone ruin his suit with such a color? Then again, Naruto forced Sasuke to pick a bright orange tie for his suit. It shouldn’t have surprised him that his son would have the same… taste.

Screams echoed all over the house, followed by a crash. More screams.
Sakura sighed and put her pen down. In one smooth motion, she got up on her feet walked over to where all the noise was coming from. In the middle of the kitchen, she found two toddlers, a white blanket, and some legos sprawled out on the floor.
Boruto had tears in his eyes, holding on to a dilapidated looking car—Sakura could only guess it was a car—made of legos. He kept screeching something inaudible.
On the other side of him, holding on to a mushed up twinkie, was her daughter, Sarada. She picked up the blanket and placed it over her head. “Boruto, you’re not doing it right!” She huffed.
The little boy only screamed louder.
“Why are you crying, Boruto?”
The toddler looked at her, snot running down his nose, and eyes red-rimmed from crying. An onslaught of inaudible thing ran out of his mouth, but Sakura did catch one word, “Married.”
It only took her a few seconds to connect the dots with the white blanket on Sarada’s head and holding on to something that resembled a cake. She raised her brow at Boruto and asked, “Are you crying because you don’t want to get married?”
“Yes!” Boruto sobbed.
Sarada crossed her arms, displeased with his answer. “I will marry you!”
Sakura wanted to laugh, but the kitchen was soon filled with Boruto’s wailing. Sarada came up to Boruto, forcing him to share her twinkie, and Sakura could only laugh. They were far too young to be thinking of marriage, but it was kind of cute and funny to see nonetheless.

I’m so glad you stumbled on Functions and Feelings. That’s the fic that really got me to come back into fandom and really solidified my love for BoruSara! ^^
I do plan to finish it! I’ve lost count how many times I’ve opened the last chapter’s WIP, reread it, and wrote paragraphs, only to delete them because I simply wasn’t happy how I was bridging it to the ending that I want.
I already know how the ending will go, and even have commissioned art from Bente. A little spoiler is the header I currently have on my Twitter.
Thank you for bringing it up again. I guess I just need motivation to come back into writing as I’ve been in such a slump lately. But the BoruSara hug got my flames roaring back lol!
Lettuce sea if I can find a willing beta reader to help me through the last chapter. I’ve also been considering rewriting the whole Functions and Feelings, tbh. Put all the little one shots I had for it together in one cohesive timeline and adding some things here and there. I feel like my understanding plots and all that jazz has gotten better since I started ^^
Thank you for leaving me a kind message, anon. It makes me feel a little better knowing that I’m not forgotten in fandom and that people still enjoy my silly little fics 💖
