Hi everyone and hope you’re doing really well. Things are not great here in the house of migraine so I’ve chosen an easy haul post for tonight that I’ve managed to write when painkillers have kicked in. Firstly, the wonderful Alison Weir who I can’t speak highly enough of if you like historical fiction or nonfiction. One of her specialties is the Tudor era and this book is the real story of the six Tudor queens “by those who loved and served these women and those who lied and betrayed them.” Weird Woods is another addition to my #britishlibrarytalesoftheweird collection. “Lining the path through the realm of folklore and fear are twelve stories from across Britain, telling tales of whispering voices and maddening sights from deep in the Yorkshire Dales to the ancient hills of Gwent and the eerie quiet of the forests of Dartmoor.” 😱 Finally, a bit of a cult classic that I can’t believe I have yet to read! I actually own this on my Kindle but couldn’t resist this gorgeous paperback edition. Something Wicked This Way Comes follows “two boys trembling on the brink of manhood who set out to explore the mysteries of the dark carnival’s smoke, maze and mirrors, they will also discover the true price of innermost wishes…” As always, I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments! #bookstagramuk #scottishbookstagrammer #ohlookmorebooks #alisonweirbooks #intheshadowofthequeens #talesfromthetudorcourt #historicalfictionlove #weirdwoodstalesfromthehauntedforestsofbritain #johnmiller #raybradburybooks #somethingwickedthiswaycomes #booksimexcitedtoread #booksgloriousbooks📚 https://www.instagram.com/p/CovA1SeL1xI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hello everyone and welcome to the end of the week and another book haul. The books keep coming and I’m not ashamed!! 😍 A new Taylor Jenkins Reid book is quite a big deal and I’ve loved some of her other books including Daisy Jones and Evelyn Hugo. I didn’t love Malibu Rising, her last book, but I still enjoyed it. Carrie Soto is one of the guests at the big party in Malibu Rising so I’m looking forward to getting to know her by buddy reading this soon with my sister @chrissireads The Book Eaters came with my @illumicrate subscription box and looks excellent. Out on the Yorkshire Moors lives a secret line of people for whom books are food and who retain all of a book’s content after eating it. Spy novels are a peppery snack, romance novels are sweet and delicious. Eating a map can help you remember a journey and when children misbehave, they have to eat dry and musty pages from dictionaries. Devon comes from an old and reclusive clan of Book Eaters and like all other book eater women, is raised on a carefully curated diet of fairytales and cautionary stories. But real life doesn’t come with happy endings - as Devon learns when her son is born with a rare and darker kind of hunger, not for books but for human minds. Lastly, When Things Are Alive They Hum. I cannot remember where I heard about this one! It follows two sisters, Marlowe and Harper who share a bond deeper than most sisters after the loss of their mother in childhood. Harper was born with a congenital heart defect and lives with what she calls the Up syndrome. Then Marlowe gets a call that her sister’s heart is failing and she has been denied a heart transplant because of her disability. The book explores what lengths would you go to save your sister? I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello everyone! TGIF! Today I’m sharing more of my book haul from when I went book shopping with my bestie @keeperofpages Scary Monsters was an absolute no-brainer. Three scary monsters - racism, misogyny and ageism roam through this mesmerising novel. It’s reversible format enacts the disorientation that migrants experience when changing countries changes the story of their lives. I love a book I have to flip upside down to read the second story! Shame on me, I didn’t realise that one of my favourite authors, Emma Donoghue had a new book out. This novel follows three men - a scholar/priest and two monks in seventh century Ireland who leave the sinful world behind. They find an impossibly steep island inhabited by tens of thousands of birds and claim it for God. But in such a place, far from all other humanity, what will survival mean? Finally (and totally a cover buy 😂), we have Briefly, A Delicious Life. Described as a lively, daring ghost story set in 1473, this follows a dead teenage girl who falls in love with a female writer who has no idea she exists. I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello all and hope your week is going well. Today I’m sharing the next five physical books on my TBR (I will be reading some Kindle ones also). I’m so devoted to get to all for these. The Switch - Beth O’Leary 🚪 @betholearyauthor first book, The Flatshare really surprised me. I’m not a fan of romance generally but she wrote a fantastic story with so much depth and heart to it that I was completely won over. This is the story of a grandmother and granddaughter who switch lives as they feel something is missing in their own. 👧 The Grace Year - Kim Liggett This book was on my last TBR post but I promise I’ll get to it this time! 😂 It’s a story that examines the complex and sometimes twisted relationships between girls, the women they eventually become and the decisions they make in-between. 🤫 Under The Whispering Door - TJ Klune I featured this book on one of my recent hauls. I loved Cerulean Sea so much and this looks to be just as heart-warming. It follows a ghost who refuses to pass over to the other side and the ferryman he falls in love with. 🧜‍♀️ The Mermaid Of Black Conch - Monique Roffey This follows a fishermen who sings to himself awaiting a catch and attracts a sea-dweller, an innocent young woman forced by jealous wives to live as a mermaid. It won the Costa prize for best novel and I can’t wait to read it! 🌊 From The Wreck - Jane Rawson This novel comes highly recommended from the wonderful @savidgereads and follows George Hills who was pulled from a shipwreck as the sole survivor. However he remembers someone or something else who kept him warm and alive. I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Hello everyone and happy Monday! Hope your week has started well. It’s book haul day! Today I’ve got three exciting (well, exciting to me 🤣) paperbacks to share with you all. I was chatting with one of my best friends Jenni from @tarheelreader about Louise Erdrich and I was compelled to buy this book by her which won the Pulitzer Prize this year. I know a bookstagrammer I love, Sarah from @messy_aussie_reader has also read some of her work lately so I’m looking forward to this. This book is based on the extraordinary life of Louise’s grandfather who was a night watchman and carried the fight against Native dispossession from rural Dakota to Washington D.C. I’ve seen The Smallest Man around a lot with some great reviews but I managed to hold off until the release of the paperback edition. This story follows the true story of a young man in England, 1625 who was known as the “queen’s dwarf,” whilst actually, he was a lot more than that. It covers two decades that changed England forever and celebrates the joys of being different. Finally, we have The Children Of Jocasta. This is from Natalie Haynes’ backlist but as soon as I read A Thousand Ships with @keeperofpages I was desperate to get my hands on everything she’s ever written. In this book, Natalie explores how the stories of Oedipus and Antigone would have looked very different if the often overlooked female characters had been centre stage. I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments! Have a great week everyone 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #bookhaul #bookhoarder #paperbackdelight #thenightwatchman #louiseerdrich #thesmallestman #francesquinn #thechildrenofjocasta #nataliehaynes #booksimexcitedtoread #booksarethebest #iregretnothing https://www.instagram.com/p/CTNVZcQLYUo/?utm_medium=tumblr

Hello everyone and happy Friday! I’m getting better (I hope) slowly but surely so here’s a book haul with three hardbacks I was eagerly anticipating. The Mad Women’s Ball is short at 224 pages but looks like it packs a punch. It’s described as a literary historical novel that explores what institutionalised women had to go through in 19th century Paris. I’m sure a lot of you have heard or read Animal by now and I’ve seen some quite mixed reviews. I loved the author’s previous non fiction book, Three Women and I’m still keen to make up my own mind on this one. It’s described as a depiction of female rage and an exploration of the fallout in a male-dominated world so in theory, looks like something I’d be interested in reading. We shall see! Finally I was drawn to The Stranding by the gorgeous cover and intriguing synopsis. This is the story of a woman living in the city with a complicated life whose relationship becomes claustrophobic. Seeking freedom she escapes to the other side of the world to find that the world she knew is no longer there. If you’ve read or you fancy reading any of these books I’d love to know your opinions! Let’s have a chat in the comments and have a lovely weekend everyone 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookhaul #bookhoarder #hardbackbooks #hardbackhopefuls #hardbackhaul #themadwomensball #victoriamas #animal #lisataddeo #thestranding #katesawyer #booksimexcitedtoread #icanthelpmyself https://www.instagram.com/p/CSPhwCkAjyS/?utm_medium=tumblr

Hello everyone and hope your week has got off to a great start! I’m on holiday at the moment and don’t have very good reception where I am but thought I would brighten up your Monday with my regular Monday book haul! 😂 Sarah Hilary is one of my favourite authors, I adore her Marnie Rome series so buying this latest stand alone was a no brainer! I was also tempted by this beautiful copy of How Beautiful We Were which looks like an incredible story. Finally, Great Circle is all the fault 😜 of my bestie @tarheelreader who definitely convinced me to buy it!! I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments! Hello bookish friends! And happy Friday to you all. I’m here to celebrate (in my usual way 😂) with the second part of my birthday book haul! Thank you so much to @keeperofpages @tarheelreader @chrissireads Mr B and my family for spoiling me rotten in a tough year. I’ve already read Circe with @keeperofpages but I read the paperback edition. She knew I was cursing myself having not bought the hardback so she eased the pain and bought it for me! 🤣😍 The other books I’ve been coveting for a little while apart from Of Women And Salt which I hadn’t heard of but as soon as I saw it and read the synopsis, I knew I had to have it. I’m also planning to read Hot Stew at some point with @tarheelreader (we have a VERY long buddy reads list) as we enjoyed Elmet so much when we read it together a while back. So, tell me all the things!! What do you think of any of these books or authors? Have you read any? Do you want to read any? Let’s have a chat in the comments! Hello everyone and happy #stacksaturday !⁣ ⁣ It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I’m back with the next five physical books I’ll be reading. As always, I’ll also be reading books from my Kindle and buddy reads.⁣ ⁣ 🚢 The Ship by Antonia Honeywell⁣ This debut novel explores a dystopian future where London is burning and a young woman’s only hope is escaping on a ship that only holds 500 people. This synopsis sounds fascinating yet it only has an average rating of 3.00 on Goodreads!⁣ ⁣ 🌊 The Island Of Sea Women by Lisa See⁣ This book comes highly recommended by my buddy @emmasbookishcorner and is the story of two girls who live on the Korean island of Jeju. They swim in an all female diving collective and follows the period of history from the 1930’s and 40’s, after WWII and the Korean War and its aftermath.⁣ ⁣ 🇮🇳 Daughters Of India by Jill McGivering⁣ I love books set in India and this covers two women, one born into the British Raj and one Hindu woman who both call India their home as the shadow of WWII looms over the country.⁣ ⁣ 👯‍♀️ The Other Bennet Sister - Janice Hadlow⁣ This novel tells the story of Pride and Prejudice told from the point of view of the often forgotten sister, Mary Bennet. This is Mary’s story and Mary’s journey for happiness.⁣ ⁣ 💐 Black Water Lilies by Michel Bussi ⁣ This is the story of thirteen days that begins with a murder and ends with another one. Looks like a great crime novel!⁣ ⁣ I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments! Have a lovely weekend everyone 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookstack #tbrpile #theship #antoniahoneywell #theislandofseawomen #lisasee #daughtersofindia #jillmcgivering #theotherbennetsister #janicehadlow #blackwaterlilies #michelbussi #booksimexcitedtoread #comingupnext #whatimreadingnext https://www.instagram.com/p/COnxjo7rahH/?igshid=eohkr4w22jo9

Hello everyone and hope you’ve had a good start to your week whether you’re working or not. It’s book haul part 12! Today I’m sharing three paperbacks- Fox Season is a short story collection that I’m determined to read more of. Men Who Hate Women is a nonfiction book by an author and lady I really respect, Laura Bates. I listened to her audiobook Everyday Sexism recently and thought it was brilliant so I’ve now bought everything she’s written! Finally we have The House In The Cerulean Sea which I couldn’t resist due to the number of rave reviews. This is also a book I’ll be bumping as part of my new challenge #wasitworththebump I’d love to know your thoughts on any of these books or authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments. Have a lovely week everyone! 🤗😘 Coming tomorrow, I’m breaking up the book hauls with a review of The Betrayals by Bridget Collins. #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booklover #bookhaul #bookhoarder #paperbackparadise #paperbackhaul #booksimexcitedtoread #foxseason #agnieszkadale #menwhohatewomentheextremismnooneistalkingabout #laurabates #thehouseintheceruleansea #tjklune #icanthelpmyself #bookobsessed https://www.instagram.com/p/CObHE-fLI38/?igshid=qgij337eq6aq

Hello everyone! Hope you’ve had a lovely Sunday and a relaxing weekend 😌 Today I’m bringing my bookshelf tour back. Swipe to see the second image! Last time I shared it was a pic of the back of this shelf and I’m here to admit right now that when required, I do double stack. Hey, when you buy as many books as I do, double stacking is a necessity! 🤣 Sure I’d love to be able to see all my books but I’d need another bookshelf or two and I just don’t have the room right now! Anyway, this is the front of my bottom shelf of my pine bookshelf which is my third one in my little library. Authors are arranged alphabetically and this shelf boasts authors with surnames from K to L. The Wolf Road is one of my favourites but I actually don’t have any room on my favourites shelf right now 🙈 so it’s staying in alphabetical order for a little while. From that stack I’m also eagerly anticipating Bitter and Blood Wedding. The second stack excites me even more, I’m chomping at the bit to read Miss Benson’s Beetle, Watch Her Fall, Ask Again, Yes and The Changeling in particular. I’d love to know your thoughts on any of the books or authors in these stacks. Have we any books in common? Which books should I bump? 😉 Let’s have a chat in the comments! Coming next week, 5 more days of my epic book haul 😜 then a review and a special post next weekend. Have a good one everyone 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookshelftour #shelfie #mybookshelves #booksimexcitedtoread #bookstacks #bitter #francescajakobi #bloodwedding #pierrelemaitre #watchherfall #erinkelly #misbensonsbeetle #racheljoyce #askagainyes #marybethkeane #thechangeling #victorlavalle #thewolfroad #bethlewis #booksbooksbooks #booksgloriousbooks https://www.instagram.com/p/COGbi-TLLI7/?igshid=16r1kraktuwmb

Today is #alphaauthorstack day started by the lovely @puellalegit and I’ve got eight books for you here where the author’s surname begins with a K. Hello everyone! Bit of a late post from me tonight in the UK as I’ve been busy talking to loved ones. My bookshelf tour is reaching the end of my third bookcase and this is the bottom shelf. They are arranged alphabetically so authors with the surname J, K and L. This back shelf holds some real beauties that sadly sometimes get hidden by the stacks of books that are usually in front 😂 I’ll share those in a couple of weeks. Books popping out to me right now are Mend The Living, The Stone Mothers, When I Hit You, Villa America, Pachinko and Coming Up For Air although of course I’m looking forward to every single one of them. Can you see anything on this shelf you’ve read and loved? Or one you’re excited to read too?
