Y’all

Horikoshi is a menace with these cover patterns. Touya and Shouto didn’t get the volume number pattern treatment but still, it’s about the covers.
And then:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both solo villain covers having their heroes on the back.
Its truly a shame Toga won’t get this same treatment.
But I’m really looking forward to what her and Ochacko get in the future. I’ve no doubt they’ll get a cover together. BNHA is so obvious sometimes and I love it.

Here's a random detail I love from the new table of contents: Dabi refuses to play by the rules of the manga
Check out some of the previous "content" illustrations from old volumes (compilation found here)
Tumblr media
Starting at volume 8 (Yaoyorozu) the character on the spine became the character to introduce the contents page (usually with something related to their quirk) accompanied by Deku. This "spine character" would say the volume number, while Deku introduced the volume's title.
There are a few exceptions to this, where the character says the title and Deku says the number, but someone is always SAYING this information in a little speech bubble. (Volume 34 technically has the volume number in a star, but I'm just assuming that's Star's equivalent of a speech bubble lol).
Then we started getting villains on the spine (volume 24). Deku doesn't show up when a villain is on the content page, so the villain says both.
Tumblr media
But with Dabi's content page, he doesn't SAY anything. The information is simply up near his head, noticeably NOT in a speech bubble.
Tumblr media
I don't know if this is a new status quo for the series, but for now it's entirely unique to Dabi and I LOVE IT. Within the story, Dabi is a character who refuses to go along with the "standard plot". He refuses AFO's offers all the time, he decided himself to release his video and cause chaos, he essentially said "you know what? I'm going to do this my way and run my own side plot" and then he did.
Dabi doesn't play by the standard rules of what it means to be in a manga series, he's just doing his own thing.
Idk, I just love that his personality is reflected in his table of contents. It's just so good.

THE NEW COSTUME
Super heat-resistant specifications.
Funeral burial clothes, a pure-white costume. [white being the color of death in Japanese culture].
He is filled with nothing but the desire for revenge against his father.
The Detnerat company is currently not operational, but since it’s data was shared with Skeptic (F.G.I company), they were able to make good use of Detnerat's research and development technology despite the current state of things.
With people evacuating and towns all emptied, deserted workshops here and there could be accessed, hacked into, and used for manufacturing.
It really was a good thing to bring Skeptic along.
Tumblr media
The depiction might be a bit hard to follow, but back then Touya got into a scuffle with Sansan Seimei and escaped by using his flames.
His weakened flames did not turn into an inferno, and the fire was quickly extinguished.
Afraid that his crime would be discovered, the doctor covered up the park’s* secret by saying that "the fire was caused by Sansan Seimei's carelessness.”
Since no deaths resulted, it did make big news, so unfortunately police and heroes did not notice the Doctor’s crimes.
If this had become a major incident, the current state of things would not have happened, so this was an ironic turning point.
SanSan Seimei is apparently sunflower-looking caretaker’s name!
* the character used to described the building is ‘garden, park’. it’s often an component character for words like kindergarten or school, but here it’s on its own.
Horikoshi implying that Touya should’ve killed those orphans, to save the rest of the world...
-
As usual, take with lots of grain of salt because my Japanese is mediocre novice level.

I've been so out of the fandom so much I didn't realize that whether Touya burned down the facility to the ground or not is such an important info. Apparently, people had been attacking Dabi unnecessarily for "killing children" when he was running away from that place. Like, I don't know but I don't even need the confirmation to think Touya wouldn't burn all the children there? Hori is setting up Dabi for a change, I don't think he would make him do such a horrible thing. He's not AFO.
But it's not such a surprise isn't it to find out people are trying to find more and more reason to attack on Dabi and to claim him "irredeemable"?
Also, why all of sudden casualties are so important when it comes to the villains? There are so many people died in the background whether it's from the heroes or the villains' doing. I thought only a named character death is important? This is a shonen manga about heroes vs villains after all. Of course we would have many unknown people died as a part of the story or in the middle of a battle in the background. Should we remorse to every death that happened to an unknown person that we don't even know existed or their name in the story?
Endeavor is stated as the hero who has the most casualties. But we never really talk about it though, as it's just an info that I don't think the author wants us to dwell so much over. So, when it comes to casualties from 16 y.o. Touya who wanted to runaway from the supervillain AFO, people suddenly were fussing so much about it?

I think hanging around with Tomura for so long has finally gotten to Dabi. I mean look at them:

Hori keeps putting Tomura behind or in the background beside Izuku and I love it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku’s the outgoing one and Tomura is the one who is forced into every social interaction as a result, but he’ll be DAMNED if he’s not joining in at some point
“Idk wtf you and your brat friends are doing but if I don’t join in with the chaos I’ll die”
