A villain's hero
chapter 418 analysis
Ok so I really liked this chapter and how it further expands on Tenko/Shigaraki's character, which are things we already new or at least speculated on but it's nice to be confirmed. One of these big things being Tenko's feelings on his quirk and how if not to be a villain what reason dose he have for decay to be his quirk, which is a fun parallel on how AFO felt about his own quirk and situation. But that shouldn't be a big surprise considering it was likely AFO himself who help to foster these thoughts that where left inside Tenko after the death of his family.
Speaking of which AFO he returns!
A surprise to no one as it was heavily hinted at in earlier chapters but nice anyways as his first death, whilst appropriate for the attention seeker he is felt a little anti climatic. But I do like how he was used in this chapter in regards to Tenko, even if I'm unsure how to feel about him and Kotaro being on friendly terms, that being said I do enjoy that with his first proper reappearance it's to assert Shigaraki's lack of control and his supposed role as a puppet. However, the reason I enjoy this is not because I agree with the statement, far from it in fact but I like how it further shows us AFO's own short-sightedness on the matter.
To elaborate, I believe that whilst Shigaraki dose have a degree of helplessness in his situation with AFO (with it almost being confirmed that he gave Tenko decay) it is made abundantly clear that Shigaraki has managed to retain his sense of self throughout his journey and has not been fully hollowed out as AFO would like to think.
One key example of this was seen in this chapter where Tenko/Shigaraki say they have to be a hero to the other Villains, which perfectly shows what he is fighting for. While yes he is angry at hero society, that is not the thing that drives him and instead it is the dreams of his comrades and friends are his fuel. Which has been perfectly displayed throughout his ark, first with him opening up to the league after Overall, to him finding his resolve to fight for his comrades dreams after the ReDestro arc and now in the current war arc with his friends being what that brought him out of AFO's grasp.
Tenko and by extension Shigaraki has always wanted to be a hero that helps others, and he has always been drawn to people who are ignored by others, just like his first friends. That is a core part of him that couldn't be removed no matter how hard Kotaro and then AFO tried, and it is that very nature that allowed him to get as far as he did with the league. Because unlike AFO, who had every ally abandon him, Shigaraki fostered a proper bond with the league which lead to them sticking by his side till the end.
And it makes perfect sense why someone like AFO wouldn't catch on to that fact as he cannot comprehend a world where one dose not live for oneself, which is the same mistake he made with Yoichi (one of Shigaraki's main parallels). And so, in a fitting manner he is going to lose Shigaraki, the same way he lost his brother, to a hero who selflessly reaches out their hand and refuses to let go.
But yeah those are my early thoughts on the leaks, might make more when the full chapter is out or I notice something else.

The park flashback/scene where Tenko plays with Mikkun and Tomo-chan in Chapter 418 first takes place in early afternoon, as evidenced by the clock reading almost 2:00 PM.
Tumblr media
The art in the scene confirms this: clear bright skies, and the shadows under the children are short.
Tumblr media
However, the time in the scene changes after Mikkun and Tomo-chan tells Tenko he should be All Might (the moment Tenko decides he wants to be a Hero, as he tells his mom in Chapter 235). Suddenly it's evening: the clock shows 6:13 PM, and the sky darkening because it's nearing sunset.
Tumblr media
When Shigaraki/Tenko thinks of the League, he and the League (and Deku) all have long shadows, the kind you see when the sun is low in the sky.
Tumblr media
The context:
Sunset is the time to go home. Children who have been playing outside, in playgrounds, at the park, are supposed to go home, to get back in time for dinner, back to their families.
In Japan, many cities and towns have a bell/chime/song that plays from public loudspeakers at around 5:00 PM. It's a daily test of an emergency broadcast system, but it has also come to be seen as the evening bell, a 'go home' signal, especially for children, telling them to go home before it gets dark.
In manga and anime, all these elements have become common imagery and symbolism, associated with each other: red-orangey colors, sunset, long shadows, the chime, children saying goodbye to their playmates for the day, the idea of home and return.
Tumblr media
(from Mushishi)
Putting it all together:
When the park scene first shows up, it's Tenko memory of playing with Mikkun and Tomo-chan, likely exactly how it had occurred in real life: it's early afternoon, the sun is shining bright, their shadows are short, they're at the park, they're playing Heroes, and when the kids tell Tenko that he should be All Might, Tenko is overjoyed.
But this isn't the scene 15-16 years ago; this is a memory. Tenko is also Shigaraki here. He has just had his core pried open by Deku, and given relief. The Crying Child has been symbolically saved, but the past, the massacre, the Walk still all happened.
So it's suddenly 6:13 PM, it's sunset now, because it's way past proper time (5:00 PM) to go home - because Shigaraki/Tenko can't go home to the Shimura house. It's too late. It's been long over.
Shigaraki/Tenko then looks away from Mikkun and Tomo-chan, to the side, and say, 'Nah' to their suggestion, because besides it being late, he also no longer wants to be All Might. He's deciding he's a Villain, he still holds malice and he still destroys.
So, the scene changes again to contains the League now, all six of them (plus Deku). They exist in this sunset time, hence their long shadows. They exist with current Shigaraki/Tenko, they exist in the now - and arguably, they would be the home he would return to at sunset.
Tumblr media
-
Up to interpretation, of course, but the sunset/going home context is real.
Japanese tweets about it (translated):
[When Tenko got the words he wanted, his eyes lit up, but it was past time to go home so I'm guessing that means "it's too late."]
[It is just heartening that the League members are the place where Tomura would return to when it was "time to go home." I'm sobbing]
[In the scene where Tenko is at the park, the clock is already past 6:00 PM, the time when good kids go home, so if he had met Deku a little earlier, Deku might have been able to stop him, but this seems to show that they're past that stage now, which is good.]

Besides everything he has already done, based in chapter 418...
It seems that AFO is a home wrecker.
He was dating/seducing Tomura's dad.
And the worst...
Kotarou looked a lot happier in those panels with AFO than in any memory he has of him while living with his mom
The funniest thing is that according to the wiki, Kotaro's favorite things are his wife, kids, and parent-in-laws.
So, why did he look so happy at that candlelit dinner huh Horikoshi? Got something you want to say?
This also makes the DFO theory a little awkward.
"Dad, you cheated on Mom?"
"It wasn't exactly cheating, we never got a chance to kiss- I mean, um, I'm also a villain who killed people."
"WHO CARES ABOUT THAT YOU DIRTY CHEATER"
And the Inko Shimura theory.
"YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH MY OWN BROTHER?!"
I guess AFO really is a villain. Home wrecking and cheating... Oh, and all that other stuff he did.

SPOILERS FOR BNHA CHAPTER 418
I've always had this view since Shigaraki's initial flashback chapters in the My Villain Academia Arc, but it's finally been canonically confirmed that Shigaraki Tomura has always carried a certain trait from childhood: wanting to provide a sense of belonging to those who felt left out and othered. As a child, he decided to play with kids no one else wanted to play with. Those children told Tenko that he reminded them of All Might because he helped them when they were in need, even if it was something as simple as loneliness.
Despite how warped Shigaraki's views have become and how much he says hatred is his core, he did provide a place others that society deemed as unwanted could feel they belonged. He wanted those under his care to have comforts and to have something they personally wished for in the new world they sought to create from the ashes of the old. Shigaraki states in Chapter 418 that even if the hatred he carries did miraculously disappear, he cannot stop being who he is because he has people who depend on him. Even as most of the country urges Deku to defeat Shigaraki, in isolated places there are a few who plea for Shigaraki to win, likely people who also feel like they didn't belong in the previous hero society.
While most see him as the villain, in other people's stories, he is their All Might. To the Othered, he is a pillar of hope for change. As Shigaraki states, to those in the League of Villains and their supporters, he is their hero.

In chapter 418, AFO is revealed to have ties with/worked in 甲賀建設, which can either mean "Construction company named Koga" or "Construction company LOCATED in Koga City" since "甲賀" is also a name of a city
If it's the latter and IF DFO theory (AFO is Izuku's Father theory) is right,
Then What i find interesting is that Koga City is located BETWEEN WHERE JAAKU HOSPITAL AND IZUKU'S HOME ARE
Tumblr media
The map above is from the war map
Jaaku hospital is in Kyoto Prefecture
Koga City is in Shiga Prefecture
Musutafu, Where izuku&his mom live, is in Shizuoka Prefecture
Hmm... seems like someone can easily checks on his family OR his projects in jaaku hospital after work
*the setting of BNHA is inspired from real places in real world, particularly the Prefecture, so the chances of 甲賀建設 meaning "Contraction company located in Koga city" is pretty high, even if usually the name of cities in BNHA is nonexistent in real world (and based from places in Star wars), but then again, those cities is usually already shown physically, unlike Koga city that is real, but haven't been shown physically/only mentioned (cmiiw)

Hello, can I ask from this ask game :
https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For anime/manga : Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club, Black Butler, and BNHA.
Thanks 🌻
Hi! Yes I’ll answer 🙂
Fullmetal Alchemist:
Favorite character:
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: I think In the Belly of the Beast is my favorite arc (Ed and Ling are trapped in Gluttony’s stomach), my favorite scene is Envy’s death bc of how the characters are involved in it
Character I Think is Underrated: Envy heehee (he’s my favorite so biased, but I also think ppl don’t appreciate how he gave us one of the greatest scenes in existence with Roy deciding not to kill him despite wanting to more than anything)
Character I Think is Overrated: Uhhhh none? I think all the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist deserve every hype they get
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Roy/Riza
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: Happy ending, EVERY character gets what they want, ends up with the people they love (both romantic and otherwise), Arakawa wasn’t afraid to be unapologetically forgiving
Ouran High School Host Club:
Favorite Character: Tamaki Suoh
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: The last arc is my favorite, my favorite scene is when he and Haruhi finally tell each other that they’re in love with each other—good shit
Character I Think is Underrated: Hmmmm idk if any of them are underrated, I love the twins and they’re plenty popular, Tamaki and Haruhi are plenty popular so idk
Character I Think is Overrated: None tbh lol
Favorite Ship/Pairing: Tamaki and Haruhi ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I love the satire, I love the romance, I love how head over heels Tamaki is for Haruhi—from day ONE
Black Butler:
Favorite Character: Sebastian ❤️
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: I think so far I’ve enjoyed the Book of the Atlantic arc the most in its entirety, I am however enjoying the current arc I’m on (twin reveal and dismantling of the blood collection arc? but I’m not done with it (I’m on break)
Character I Think is Underrated: Mei Rin, she’s so fucking badass and gets shit done
Character I Think is Overrated: Eh none really, everyone who gets hype deserves it imo
Favorite Ship/Pairing: idk if any ship here interests me rly, I’m here to just see what happens
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: I love the mystery aspect, how each arc is solving a mystery. I love Sebastian and I love the Phantomfam with the house staff and Ciel and Sebastian, ahhhh all of them
BNHA:
Favorite Character: Tomura Shigaraki
Favorite Arc/Episode/Scene: Current arc, favorite scene is…probably going to be whatever is in 418 or 419, but existing I’d say chapter 305 still
Character I Think is Underrated: None
Character I Think is Overrated: Idk I don’t get the hype behind literally any of the side characters like like the Big 3; I also think outside of aesthetics, Mirko is overrated, I think because Touya is often seen as something he isn’t (someone fighting for everyone to live how they want—he’s not) I think he’s gotten to be a little overrated. He’s still one of my top favorites but I tend to disagree with how a lot of people view him
Favorite Ship/Pairing: IzuOcha is good, BakuCami makes me laugh, TogaChacko is also good
Something I Love About the Show/Movie: The feel good narrative behind it all, I love how much the author cares about his characters, I love how forgiving the story is
