Weekends are for lovers … of brunch

Living abroad at 19 years old is exciting and all the good things you could imagine, but some days (like today) I wake up feeling lonely. Obviously I have friends here in China and I love them to death, but as foreigners, an experience we all can relate to is feeling like there is no place in the world for us. Home in America does not feel like home because when we go back, our rooms are now guest rooms and our loved ones have lives that have continued without us. Living abroad definitely doesn’t feel like home because our lives are constantly shifting and we don’t stay under the same room for more than a year. All that to say, I’m glad I’ve found home in my friends and little things that make me feel grounded.

As you’ve seen in my 2023 Goals post, one of my objectives is to get more flexible and start doing yoga. As I was going through my practice or flow (idk the terms yet lol), I cried a little bit. Not because I was actually sad, but because letting my body create space and release tension allowed me to release some of the emotions I’ve been keeping stored in my body.

Some days waking up is hard. Getting up on time is hard and going to my mat is hard. But today made me realize that doing things for myself that may seem hard end up being incredibly rewarding. While doing things like Yoga or meditating can help me become a better person, I’ve realized that it can help me process emotions and show myself the love I deserve and that is so much more important to me. Showing myself that love goes hand in hand with the goal of being my own best friend, which I will probably talk about in a later post.

Forever grateful to be able to see the world like I do. Spending a week in La Fortuna, Costa Rica with amazing humans is something I highly recommend. Costa Rica is one of my fave tropical locations. I value a country that has the ability to produce its own food. No preservatives or importation. Just clean living. Kind people. This was a cathartic cruise to say the least. Every JOCO cruise previously attended was one steeped or tinged in some sort of tragedy. I exuded a strange sort of detached peace. I've leveled out my pain with curious inspection and came out scarred, but healed. . Happiness, in my opinion, is not an emotional high, but simple reflection at how one moves in the world that helps it in some way. . @leandergreeny and I ate lunch in Tortola and talked about what really makes us happy. What is really, and truly important to live, thrive and evolve. All of my close friends have a theme this year: they feel that they are growing larger than their current selves and wish to be bigger, to do more, to help more. . And I think that is beautiful. Energy is energy...and you are what you surround yourself with.
