This is a strange time to be writing an editorial on queer representation. While the past year has seen an incredible uptick in queer stories being told with humor and heart on the small screen, 2022 has seen a record high of 238 proposed anti-LGBTQIA+ bills in the US—nearly half of them targeting trans folks. Representation is important, though, and demand for more queer stories is growing (and, to some degree, being met), with a lot of good books and comics making it to our screens. With that in mind, think of this as your selective chronological tour of all the times we won in the TV landscape of the last year (October 2021–October 2022).
Our dataset year started off with the much-awaited adaptation of Robert Jordan’s fantasy epic, Wheel of Time. With such extensive source material (15 books if you count the prequel, which is where the seeds of the sapphic storyline in Rafe Judkins’ adaptation are to be found), the viewership, generally speaking, was divided into book fans and show-only fans, and both camps shitposted and meme’d and reviewed with abandon.
The biggest queer-centric show we saw in the last year was the adaptation of @aliceoseman’s comic Heartstopper (@heartstoppercomic). Co-created by Alice Oseman themself, this adaptation was very sensitive to the much-loved source material. And, being native to Tumblr, these characters were bound to be welcomed with open arms when they hit the screen in an ebullient explosion of queer joy.
A run-down of the past year would be incomplete without the incredible queerdos of the Revenge who swashbuckled their way into our hearts. We’re referring, of course, to Our Flag Means Death’s Gentleman Pirate and his merry band of (living-wage-paid, no less!) shipmates. Your favorites included genderqueer Jim ‘not-a-fucking-mermaid’ Jimenez and Oluwande, Lucius Sprigg and Black Peter, Frenchie who just hates cats, and The Swede, who keeps his heart but loses his teeth. Then, of course, we have Blackbeard himself, or simply Ed, who is struggling with his identity (villain or softboi).
Based on the story by @veschwab and produced by @belletristbooks, First Kill was another adaptation that fans of vampire stories got very excited about. Add to that the fact that this was very much a sapphic enemies-to-lovers scenario between hunter Calliope and young vampire Juliette, and the pre-show excitement was palpable. The post-season disappointment even more so as fans turned to their dashes to vent about the lack of good lesbian and wlw representation in 2022’s TV landscape.
Where the cancelation of First Kill left us reeling, the Rockford Peaches from A League of Our Own came in clutch and soothed our sapphic souls. You love the show which you affectionately shortened, in good old Tumblr fashion, to a silly little acronym: aloto. Whether you’re in it for the gal pal aesthetics, the butch energy, or Uncle Bert, or some good old fashioned baller drama, there truly was something for all of your wlw whimsies here. Let’s go, Peaches!
@neilgaiman’s The Sandman series finally came out to much acclaim, and came out so gay that armchair reviewers of the homophobic sort really struggled to wrap their minds around quite how gay it is. We got pansexual serial killing Corinthian! Pansexual, demon-hunting, women-kissing Johanna Constantine! Some very loaded moments between Morpheus and Hob Gadlin! This is what dreams are made of (sort of)!
This whole list would be nothing, nada, a crumb of zilch whizzing around a black hole, if it weren’t for the writers who created many of these stories in the first place. So thank you to them. And to you, Tumblr, for celebrating the good and standing up for each other through another year. Here’s to a kinder 2023.

something short and fluffy about making lunches for sevika

i like to think she moves you into her apartment pretty early on in the relationship. (uhaul lesbian sevika the loml)
she doesn't work normal hours, usually coming home in the early hours of the morning and leaving in the late afternoon, so when you get up every morning (after about half an hour of convincing sevika to let you leave the bed) you have your mornings to yourself.
the two of you don't have time to cook that often, but you make sure to keep the cupboards and fridge stocked with snacks and deli meats for easy eats.
about a week into living with sev, you start tucking snack packs and granola bars into her cloak's pockets and satchel before you leave for work.
one night she mentions it casually, thanking you with a gentle kiss to your head for the chips you had hidden in her bag. you decided to step it up a notch after that.
it starts with paper bag lunches. peanut butter sandwiches and a piece of fruit, wrapped in wax paper and signed with a heart from you.
when you have time in the mornings, you write her a little note, something quick and simple. 'love u baby,' or 'u + me = <3.' it gives you a laugh to imagine sevika finding the notes while shes at work, getting flustered in front of silco or ran, trying to crumble up the note before they can see it.
but a few weeks later you're in her office waiting for her to finish some paperwork, and you see the little notes you've been packing her taped up behind her desk in a neat little row. (you crawl under her desk to give her some sloppy head after this particular discovery.)
after this you decide to take your lunches to the next level. you carve out a good 20 minutes in your morning routine to dedicate to her lunches.
you start baking. nothing serious, just quick treats you can pop in the oven in the morning. cookies, brownies, muffins. you always pack her two, in case she decides to share-- but you doubt she shares.
you start cutting her sandwiches into hearts like a lovesick fool.
your notes get a little longer. quick lists of the things you'd like to do to her once she gets home, sometimes innocent, sometimes not. little love letters, haikus, doodles of the two of you holding hands.
you buy increasingly ridiculous snacks at the store for her, chips with wild flavors, crackers in the shapes of various animals, bright candies and air puffed vegetable sticks. you switch out the napkins and old receipts you'd been writing her notes on out for some heart shaped sticky notes.
eventually you bite the bullet and buy her an actual lunch tin. you try to find something subtle, something that matches her vibe, but the closest you can find is a purple tin with black polka dots decorating it. she scoffs at the sight of it, but takes it with her to work every day and brings it home each night, empty besides a few crumbs.
the intimidating image of her stomping down the street with her usual scowl is somewhat obscured with the addition of the little lunch pail swinging along in her grip, but not enough for anyone to say anything to her.
you ask her one night if it embarrasses her-- tell her you can go back to using the paper bags. she pouts.
"fuck no. i like my lunch box. you got it for me." she says simply.
sometimes, instead of a note you'll snap a dirty polaroid and throw it in her pail. your cleavage, your ass, a shot of the matching set you're wearing under your work uniform. each time you do, sevika comes home with a dark look in her eye and fucks you for hours on end.
"you're such a fuckin' tease. had to work five more hours knowing you were at home wearing these. nearly quit so i could come home and get my hands on you sooner."
when she's having a particularly rough week, you'll roll her a hefty joint and pack it alongside some extra snacks for munchies. these nights, she comes home and drags you to the couch to cuddle for hours. she burrows under your shirt, breathing in the scent of your skin and mumbling about her day as you rub her back.
one day you come home from work to see the purple lunch pail still sitting on the counter. it breaks your heart to think of sevika going without her food and note, so you scoop it up and march down to the last drop to hand deliver it to her.
at this point, the bouncers recognize you, they move aside to let you in with a nod. you navigate through the rowdy crowd looking for your girlfriend. eventually you spot her in a heated conversation with a few of silco's goons, pinching the bridge of her nose and snarling. the man beside her flinches every time she moves. you smile.
you let her finish her little lecture before approaching her. the second her eyes meet yours, her face melts. the tension in her shoulders falls, the stress in her face disappears into a soft little smile. when her eyes catch the lunch box in your hands, her eyes go big and round.
she scoops you up into her arms, clinging onto you, burying her face into your neck. "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me." she mumbles. you giggle, kissing her hair.
she drags you to her office, forcing you to sit on her lap, alternating feeding herself and you bites of the food you packed her.
"you make a good housewife." she mumbles around a mouthful of food. you laugh.
"gotta be a wife for that." you snort, elbowing her. you expect the usual laugh and smack on your ass you get when teasing sevika about marriage, but instead you're met with silence. you look up at her.
"would you wanna be?" she asks, so soft and quiet you would've missed it if you weren't looking at her. you blink.
"sevika." she looks at you, her eyes sparkling. "you are not about to propose to me in your office." you command. a guilty little smile creeps up her lips. you raise your eyebrows.
"no, i guess i'm not." she says. you giggle, nervous and giddy.
"no, you're not." you confirm. she pouts. "'cause if you want me to say yes, you at least gotta get me some flowers. and you gotta do it somewhere you haven't disemboweled someone before."
"doesn't leave very many options open for me." she grumbles. you laugh.
"you'll figure it out." you say. "or you'll just have to wait 'til i propose to you." you tease.
"fine." she huffs, shoving the remainder of her sandwich in her mouth. "just as long as you keep making me lunches."

In both cases, I would have to say they appeal strongly to the queer aspects of furry community. I am aware that not all furries join the umbrella of queer, but also there is a strong level of overlap between the two notions. I mean the disco scene itself was also tied strongly to black and queer culture much like early anthropomorphic culture had been. Overall, I think it's clear that Arm and Hammer likes furries and gives us great crumbs that we can turn into flawless meals

literally always. all i do is think about this bitch.
-mukuro is obsessed with military history, especially roman military history, and sometimes when junko is stressed out, she’ll rattle off facts about historical roman brutalities to calm her down.
-she used to play with army men as a kid, and she’d always set them all up into famous military battle formations.
-she’s a lesbian, but she’s closeted because she’s terrified that if junko finds out about her attraction to women, it will just become yet another reason why she’s nothing more than a disappointment. (obviously, junko already knows and doesn’t give a shit.)
-she used to sing in the shower as a child but stopped when she joined the fenrir because her showers always had to be quick and productive on base.
-she believes that deep down, junko loves her more than she loves despair. she thinks that if push came to shove, junko would choose her over despair. it’s only in her last moments of life that she realizes just how wrong she is. as she’s fading away from this world, she thinks to herself that if the spears don’t kill her, her broken heart will finish her off.
-mukuro is a very tidy person—always makes her bed (and junko’s) every morning, has her book shelf organized in alphabetical order, always puts everything away in its correct place, vacuums once a week, etc. she’s always on junko’s ass for getting crumbs on the carpet, which of course results in junko going out of her way to get as many crumbs on the carpet as possible.
-whenever she’s stressed, she goes to the shooting range. it’s the closest thing to therapy she has in her life.
-her favorite guns are named after famous roman generals.
-she never learned what love truly was or how to love/be loved during her childhood, so she associates love with sacrifice and being needed.
-her favorite country to visit is america because it’s the gun capital of the world. the first time she walked into a walmart she almost fell to her knees at the sight of all the guns she could just…buy.
-her preferred note taking style is cornell.
-she picks up on foreign languages very quickly and uses them frequently in her line of work.
-dogs hate her. she always jokes that it’s because they can sense what she sometimes does to their owners (murders them).
-she sticks to a very rigid schedule: 5am run every morning, 5:45am shower, 6:15am protein shake for breakfast, etc.
-mukuro doesn’t necessarily enjoy killing people per say, but it feels good to be great at something. murder is familiar, which is a comfort to her.
-loyalty is her love language.
-she hates speaking up in class because she doesn’t like being the center of attention or being looked at, so whenever she has a question about the lesson or needs to use the restroom/get a drink of water, she just stays silent and waits it out, even if she’s really uncomfortable. (honestly, i think she’s probably reluctant to admit to needing things in front of other people, even when the need in question is something every human being needs, like water or the toilet.)
-following that, sometimes mukuro feels more like a weapon than she does a human being.
-she spends a lot of time in her head, especially in her memories. she cherishes her happy memories with junko and every moment of kindness and laughter they’ve ever shared and relives them often. it’s how she’s able to endure the constant slew of insults and rejection from junko.
-she keeps a journal but it’s mostly just training logs. however, sometimes she’ll attempt to write one or two sentences about her emotions when she’s feeling especially lost or confused.
-instead of the endless boredom junko experiences, mukuro just feels this sort of bottomless abyss of emptiness inside. it’s like a black hole—that’s what she wrote in journal once.
-she’s a smart girl and gets pretty decent grades. surprisingly, her best subject in school is actually language arts/the humanities. (remember when her story was published in a military magazine when she was a child?)
-she’s more afraid of feeling things than she is of death itself.
-mukuro loves being a twin. junko is her other half, and nothing and nobody has ever or will ever be more important or dear to her than that. she views them as the same soul shared between two bodies, so it kind of bothers her sometimes when people point out their differences.
-tragically, if she could do it all over again, she’d do it all the same.

being announced on november 13 2022 for episode EIGHTY SEVEN of riptide . on the same day , you wrote a post about wanting us the viewers feel comfortable , REPRESENTED , and respected . lizzie’s skin colour absolutely changes her character because she could be strong WOC rep .
now lesbian lizzie has been a very strong headcanon throughout the community for a very long time (i’m going to ignore pistolwhip’s influence for a second this is just about lizzie) due to the extreme lack of lesbian or even sapphic rep in jrwi as an entire podcast .
you yourself stated you want all to feel represented in your campaign . and yet whenever you’re asked about lizzie’s sexuality you brush it off and say “it doesn’t matter” maybe to You but it very much matters to lesbian jrwitwt who are often left grasping at crumbs and battling
intense lesbiphobia (not lesbophobia 😉🥂) from the community in general . a canonical lesbian would be big for lesbian fans !! we love and adore lizzie as a character and we would love to see really ANYTHING about her canonized but it’s always silence .
now back to pistolwhip . i can understand the resistance to making them canon as it could take away from the action of the story (im really trying to see the other side here i’m trying) however the way you constantly dismiss the ship
but still milking fans for fan service… what happened to "u guys dont want pistolwhip" when lizzie called jay sunshine. or when lizzie winked at jay and told her to "be safe"? the way you constantly insists that "you guys dont want this to happen" while simultaneously egging
fans on is tiring for all involved
TLDR : canonize lizzie’s skin tone and stick to it . if she’s white , say it. the lack of canonization while being upset fans “take the character and say i’m wrong” is a weird thing to get angry about considering little about lizzie is canon

An anon asks about what Grizzly had said about a disabled character in PD, also adding in their own notes about Drey's disability. To summise their notes: it's surprising Drey is the only disabled character in Riptide; his diability is primarily a punchline for jokes; Drey is treated as being unfit to fight due to his disability, which can easily be remedied in fantasy through use of mobility aids that can also be altered to make for cool magical weapons. I myself would like to note that Chip has a prosthetic finger, which makes this choice even more strange.
To summise the response: meeting a former villain who's now a wheelchair user, the characters ask what happened; Dakota (played by Grizzly) reacted extremely poorly and said to their face they, "deserved it," and that, "you had it coming, karmas a bitch," in reference to being disabled; being disabled is not a punishment or a sin, it's just something that occurs, and this mindset is a bad one to have; Grizzly defended the decision to play the character this way when he recieved criticism about it.

Insight that I feel should be quoted in full based on my own agreement and consensus amongst other users too:
i might have missed something but i'm just so unsurprised by jrwi's (mainly grizz's) lack of response to the lizzie thing. charlie and bizly have both made apologies for things that i think were considerate and they actually changed, but i feel like grizz and condi just kind of don't learn.
grizzly's conveniently timed deleting of his questions page just adds to the feeling like, to him, it's not about actually growing and more about avoiding "being cancelled"
i could be wrong (i hope i'm wrong) but past actions and words are usually indicative of future actions and words.
i've had this small, growing frustration with jrwi the past maybe four months which sucks because i love this show. i do. i just want them to Improve. i feel like there's a lot of talk of improving and not a lot of progress.
I have already gotten worn out so sorry I haven't included more, but if you have any other comments or relevant posts feel free to add on.

What do AOT character’s beds look like [Modern AU]
Eren: Forest green sheets, no comforter. The sheets themselves have a couple holes in them because they’re quite old. Never bothers to fix his bed after waking up, the sheets are almost always tangled in a messy ball. One lone, very flat pillow. As an adult he rarely clean them, so they mostly smell like sweat.
Mikasa: Goth Aesthetic™️. 🦇 💀 Black sheets with a black comforter, well kept and neatly folded over the sides of the mattress, but she’s not super diligent about it. She has a bunch of little goth pillows and plushies that are mostly just decoration and one big fluffy black body pillow.
Armin: Nice, soft ocean blue sheets with a darker blue comforter. The bottom layer is a heated blanket and he has a weighted blanket kept folded at the foot of his bed during the day. Very diligently keeps his bed neat and clean. All of his pillows, and there are many, are kept in soft white pillow shams. There’s almost always a book or two sitting by the pillows.
Jean: Adult™️. Bought one of those expensive bed-in-a-bag packs with pretty patterns to ‘impress the ladies’ and religiously makes his bed everyday. The top most layer is a thick afghan his mom lovingly made him, a twisted pattern of soft brown cotton. Two pillows, because he feels like he’ll be judged if he has any more.
Connie: Sloppy and unorganized. A miss-mash of random colors, the blankets -not sheets- are an odd collection of random ones he found on sale in stores and merch from his favorite video games and animes. He has several body pillows, but not all of them fit on the mattress so he swaps them out. Rarely bothers to wash them and never bothers to actually make his bed. At most he’ll stretch them flat over the mattress and call it a day. 100% had a Racecar bed growing up.
Sasha: Crumbs. She keeps the sheets, nature themed in an array of woodsy greens and browns -a gift from her parents- neat and folded over the edges, but doesn’t clean them nearly as often as she should. Especially since she regularly eats in the bed, more often than the table in her kitchen even. They’re a bit stained and the once fluffy pillows have suffered from her lounging, becoming warped and misshapen in their green shams.
Historia: Princess Aesthetic™️. 👑 Big fluffy sheets in soft peachy pink and so many pillows one could drown. Pinks of all shades and soft creams, both round and fuzzy and square and soft. Since she’s rich™️ she has someone to make up her bed for her in her youth, so as an adult she often leaves it a mess.
Ymir: Very plain and simple, though she never bothers to make up her bed. Two mostly flat pillows in, surprisingly enough, dark royal purple shams. The sheets and comforter are a darker grey -one of the layers is plaid- with a soft Lesbian pride blanket on top.
Erwin: A silky light blue-ish grey comforter and stark white sheets, folded carefully over his mattress every morning with military precision. Only two pillows, both kept in simple, equally white shams. He’s not really one for extra accessories, though his friends have bought him a heavy weighted blanket to help him relax.
Levi: He has multiple, nearly identical, bed sets so he can easily swap them out every few days. A big expensive black comforter with dark grey bottom sheets, all soft and high thread count. He literally makes his bed before anything else in the morning, all the edges neatly tucked and crease-less. Two pillows in generic white shams (still expensive), but he only really uses the one and it’s all warped since he often has trouble sleeping. He’s contemplated getting a weighted blanket or something to help him sleep for years, but is anxious that the weight will just make him worse.
Hange: MESS™️ Their pillows are a sunshiny yellow, but they’re constantly a bit lost in the tangle. Soft purple sheets, no comforter, but with a bunch of random fuzzy blankets -anything they feel in the store and think ‘Ooh soft’ then immediately splurge purchase- thrown on top. They NEVER make their bed, but the real problem is the clothes they loose in the sheets, often just thrown onto the surface and forgotten about. Also crumbs, books, hair ties, anything and everything that’s forgotten about when they pass out after a long day of work.
Reiner: The surface of his bed is coated entirely by squish mallow plushies. They’re so soft and happy, this man just hoards them to try and get a little bit of that joy. Soft fuzzy sheets and blankets, way too many pillows. Doesn’t make his bed simply because he doesn’t know where to start.
Porco: Neat navy blue sheets and comforter, with nice matching forest green pillows. Only really fixes it up when he expects a guest(s) and thinks spraying axe over the fabric ‘freshens them up’. There’s a cute little stuffed lion he keeps by his pillow.
Pieck: BLANKETS™️ Literally just eight layers of blankets, all warm and soft and clean. She buys all the seasonal ones every year and swaps them out for whatever holiday is coming up. The spares cost the entirety of her couch and threaten to burst from her closets. She fights Reiner for the Halloween squish mallows.
Zeke: Monkey themed. Period. 🐒🍌 Frankly it’s embarrassing, how did he even find those big enough to fit a full sized mattress?

“Thor: Love and Thunder” Promised Us Gay Valkyrie, So What Happened Here?
Marvel keeps getting away with this!
There was no excuse that in 2017, the morning after flirtation between Valkyrie and another woman was edited out before Ragnarok’s release or that the death of her supposed greatest love was left as a question mark, only to be clarified in a movie five years later.
There was no excuse that in 2018 a quietly queer flirtatious moment in Black Panther, reportedly between Okoye and Ayo, met the same erased fate. It was nearly laughable in 2019 when the first queer canon character finally came to the MCU, it was a glorified extra role in the early minutes of Avengers: Endgame (their 22nd film!) that could have easily been removed from the plot with no consequence.
Chloé Zhao’s Eternals in 2021 brought Marvel’s first same-sex kiss, which coincidentally could also be easily cut with no notice if necessary, Brian Tyree Henry’s excellent work as Phastos notwithstanding. 2021 also came with Loki coming out as bisexual, but in a single throwaway line during the third episode of his television show.
Earlier this year, in 2022, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ America Chavez, a famously lesbian Latina superhero in the comics, had her queerness reduced to a small Pride pin on denim jacket and a less than 20 second scene with her lesbian mothers, which again — are you picking up the theme here? — could have been cut without changing anything in the script! Disney of course, did not cut it, and if they wanted a pat on the back for their “brave” choice, look at that — I’m fresh out of participation trophies.
Now we’re full circle back to Valkyrie, who’s big anticipated queer reckoning — after her first cutting room floor incident — was merely a mention of an off-camera and dead girlfriend. Here we are again.
We deserve more than this. If skipping a single scene is all it would take to erase someone’s queerness for an audience, then it is not enough. We deserve more than “blink-and-you-miss-it” representation, or to pretend that representation is good — when we know it’s not! — because we’re scared that if we ask major studios for more, it will be taken away altogether. We deserve real storytelling, not crumbs. Even among Gods of thunder, perhaps especially then.
Ultimately, in a movie that promises love to span each universe, nearly everyone finds some version of a love-filled ending, except the sole queer woman of color. Even Korg — yes, the cheerful Rock monster dude! — finds gay happiness to call his own. Funny how the Black bisexual woman can’t say the same, now isn’t it?

Hi Nina! I know we can't know too much about the side characters, but are there any crumbs you can tell us about?
oooh!!! honestly i love all the rm side characters -- and by that i mean like...75% of the characters in south park because for some reason i decided to put like all of them in rm, which is such a nightmare smh.
but hmmmmm....okay. so there's a kyle-centric side plot i really like in rm that shows up pretty soon ( that's why i'm not that worried about talking about it ) that is basically sort of kyle's legally blonde / righteously readhead moment where kyle's crimina laur professor AKA mr. motherfucking mackey, Babey! puts out this batshit insane, hard ass, ball-busting, literally Impossible To Pass midterm from hell, mmkay? and the 4 students that score the highest on the exam get to work with him on a pro-bono real life case out there in the world.
& the students that score the highest, better known as Jersey's Lawyer Core Four, ( yes, theyre a ragtag group of misfits, no they do not work well together/like each other v much at first ) are as follows:

...everyone assumes got chosen because clyde's father essentially runs the university and his mother was a Crazy Talented Lawyer Lady who became the world's youngest supreme court justice before she passed -- i want to say clyde either indirectly caused/was present when she died and his father never forgave him/resented him for it...
but uhhhhh actually he just filled in the scantron in the shape of a Dinosaur and scored ONE POINT HIGHER THAN KYLE....do u know how MAD kyle was??? ohhhmg he was like yOU MUSTVE CHEATED YOU DONT DESERVE TO BE HERE U FUCKEN HALFWIT kyle is about to strangle clyde during the entire fanfiction smh i love the lawyer side plot so much hes like constantly running from kyle oof
but yeah thats clyde...he is the Big Man on Campus. hes kind of frat boy obnoxious like id call him a himbo but hes a chad tbh...HES GOT A GOOD HEART THO!!! he Means Well hes just suuuch a fkn disaster.
also i talk about him in a different ask ( someone asked me abt lesbian bebe! <3 ) but clyde has been in 'love' with bebe like his whole life and the running gag is he keeps trying to ask her out and has struck out Every Single Time its so funny help i luv him hes so LAME like clyde pls stop flexing she doesnt Want u!! shdjksd HE CRIES A LOT...clyde & ravenstan collab when oh my god...which tbh i do not think clyde likes cd but he respects their ability to pick up girls smh...

AND i actually think hes a REALLY GOOD lawyer!!! he has his moms passion and innate ability! but hes a disorganized mess and no one thinks that the can do it so he psyches himself out a lot...but hes gonna Shock Us All! HES A SLOW BURN OKAY!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU CLYDESDALE ) hes also craigs super best friend...no1 gets it. theyre brothers/soul bonded. like they are a truly iconique duo, tbh.
so uhhhh heidi works at grounded with kyle!!! i dont have her fleshed out but obvi she is our environmental law erin brockovich crunchy granola queen. her hair goes down to her ass...always smoking that grass...she is pagan, very good friends with tweek ( witchy legends ), she wears a lot of big funky statement jewelry, v sweet, v shy, but is at every single campus protest, lesbian but uh...cant talk to girls...
particularly one girl...with cool dyed red hair and a really cool sternum tattoo...who bartends at the lesbian bar and sometimes plays really kick ass indie rock music/is currently tryin to make it big like crimson dawn...possibly half peruvian and cousins w/craig. anyways! heidi is very lovely and kyle actually likes her very much because she lowkey reminds him of stan and marjorine combined into one person so he is very scary older brother overprotective of her bc shes his baby gay law student little sister and a strong breeze will blow her over....smh.
and finally, tolkien black is in a similar boat as kyle where there was a lot of pressure for him to fall into a certain profession but i think that tolkiens dad in the rm verse was like a very famous director and his mom was also involved in acting/film industry ( i think he may actually know raven/co. bc his dad helped direct their music vids ). tldr; tolkiens family is v affluent, indulgent and Rich Rich. like richer than fkn god like i think he was delivered on a yacht tbh. That RICH.
and tolkien was supposed to just fall into that role of acting...but has no interest in following in his parents footsteps/using them to make a name for himself or pretending to be someone hes not for that matter ( and just to pay homage to the show, i might have it so he changed his name from token to tolkien bc token was vapid ) and wanted to become a lawyer bc hes passionate abt pro-bono cases, specifically public defending/helping people who don't have help.
he has a very generous and gorgeous soul, the inside matches the outside tbh...him and kyle dress the best ( heidi is very light, airy, flowy shirts & long skirts, clyde is sloppy frat boy outfits/backwards hat/reps his fraternity [ hes president ], tolkien is kind of chill, casual, understated ( he also has dreads hes so fine ) not flashy but sort of effortlessly put together and kyle is giving crazy dead 1920s evil dark academia tired classics professor realness...hes so hot pls i luv him DREAM TEAM...NIGHTMARE FROM HELL TEAM IF U WILL!!! )
clyde and tolkien also clash and argue a lot in rm/hate each other p much. which uh, in my fanfiction, is v interesting...thats all imma say.

i wish i could get into nanno x yuri as i'm a huge nanno stan slash simp and i like the idea of yuri's charactr but the actual episodes featuring her were so not my thing 😭 except for the b&w one, that one was cool
i only got into it after watching the show and realized the potential there was lesbian toxic insane women excellence and i was gonna eat every single crumb offered by the show to fit my narrative. im living in the sky but its nice up here im kept warm by delusion. anyways listen to perfection by oh land and think of nanno and yuri <3 its their song fr babes.

my two cents as a thamsin shipper as a brown lesbian.
i had this tradition that i would take a picture of my crying face after regenerations and every single one of them is so tearful. honestly this is the first time it’s completely dry. not a single tear. no traditional big beautiful regeneration speech? come on fanfic writers wrote more hard hitting in-your-feels shit than this. We built up all this tension from EOTD to LOTSD- Beautifully subtle but it was peaking into something beautiful. all for it to be taken away from us? only crumbs? why is that rose and tentoo get their beautiful ending but god forbid there be a wlw? yes i know there’s wlw in the show’s history but for main characters? god forbid. should we the community be eternally grateful for madam vastra and jenny and thats it? as someone who is brown and queer i am shattered. you don’t get to tell me how to feel. this IS queerbaiting. what message does this give me? you aren’t enough, you don’t get your happy ending onscreen. my fellow young black and brown queers in the fandom you (we) deserved it. brown and black queerness is valid, thamsin is valid, you are valid. in my heart this wasn’t the true ending. brava to jodie and mandip for playing them together so beautifully but my god am i heartbroken. i sat there like that’s it? im meeting jodie in february and i have to ask her if they truly loved each other romantically.
