Shadowbringers is about learning how to live.
Your enemy is stasis- everything and everyone is stagnant, they wait and wait for something to happen, but don't do anything to make it so (because the ones who tried before failed, because they don't know what to do/how to do it). People don't change, they don't try, not really. The crystarium is doing well, it's independent and sustainable, but it doesn't have the reach or power to do much outside of Lakeland. The Exarch is more-or-less confined to the city (because of the tower, because he's waiting for you), so even if he had power elsewhere, he'd be limited with how much he, personally, can do.
Eulemore is filled with mindless indulgence, there's no hardships or labour or anything but luxury for the free citizens, and the bonded only have to worry about fulfilling the task(s) they were brought for. The outside world doesn't matter, hard work doesn't matter, personal fulfillment beyond indulgence doesn't matter, everything exist solely in the moment. The people out in Kholusia have pretty much given up, they stay close to the city in the hopes that this time they will be picked, this time they will be saved. They wait and wait and do nothing but wait. The ones who try to live on are dying out or eventually give up and join the rest in waiting.
Ahm Areang, Rak'tika, even Il Mheg are all just waiting for something, anything to happen. They go day to day, surviving simply because it's all they can. Nothing changes.
Until, of course, you should up. You, who causes a ripple of change simply by existing, who can move the immovable by sheer will. You showed them that things can change, that things can, and will happen, if they just try. You show them that they can make things better, that there is an option besides waiting for a slow death, if they'd just grab fate by the neck and tell it "No. We are doing this my way".
And they do. They rally up together and do what they thought impossible. Not all their efforts succeed(not immediately), but they tried. They tried, they failed, and they got up and tried again and again until it did work. They take the chances, not knowing how it'll turn out (because it's not about whether it fails or succeeds, it's about having tried).
They learn how to try, little by little, and every step they learn what it means to really live.
Endwalker is about learning how to love life.
Your enemy is nihilism- the idea that nothing matters, that there is no real joy to be found that isn't snuffed out by misery. A concept that denounces greys in favor of a black-and-white view where black is all encompassing. Everywhere you go, people are doing what they can to survive, but refuses (or maybe are afraid to, or maybe never knew they could) try to actually save themselves. The Forum plans for escape, to leave their homeworld behind and take whatever they can afford. They will live on, but they won't be saved, no one is saved(and even with escape they aren't safe, Despair is everywhere and She will not stop until all has become Nothing).
The Loporrits love Etheirys, but in the way Winter loves Spring. They know about it, they are so close to it, but they are distant. They're strangers, they've never met. It's love, and it's pure and true, but it's also just love. It's surface-level(because the surface is all they had). Their love is pure but it's instinctual. Programmed. They love because they don't know how to not love. They want to save it's people, save us, but they don't know what it really means to save, so they create refuge instead(because that's what She told them to, because this is how love works for them).
The people of Garlemald are terrified, they are victims of extreme indoctrination, the (deserved) push-back their army got proved them "right"(that we are savage beasts to fear, that they are but prey in the maws of rabid dogs). They want to be build-up again, but what's left for them now? The world hates them(and it's all their fault, the ones who see past the propaganda know this, but who will listen to them?) and they are dying. It's so cold and the fuel is running out. They won't accept help, because they've been filled with the idea that there is no such thing as pure kindness from "savages"(and they are too prideful to question it, to break apart from the illusion that they are surperior, because they're terrified to face the truth).
The sky screams, the earth wheeps and the foundation of existence is overtaken by Despair, misery is around every corner and who knows what will happen now? Where do we go? What do we do? We live and live but for what?
What's the point of it all?
That's the question, and the answer is everything. We live because there is joy to be found. Because there is beauty in the world. Because there are stars in the sky. Because flowers bloom in spring. Because cats purr. Because waves crash against the shore. Because of every single little thing we can see, hear or feel. Because we love and are loved. Because there are things to do and discover. Because why not?
And you tell them this, by letting them see that there is more to life than the little they have seen. The Forum has closed it's eyes to anything but it's own kith and kin, everything outside of Old Sharlayan is irrelevant(non-intervention, always non-intervention) and it takes the entire world coming and telling them "We are here. We are alive, and we will make tomorrow happen." for them to realize they have slowly been killing themselves and what they stand for(you pride yourself on knowledge, but where is your wisdom? What do you truly know of things outside your own bubble? You do not know that which is lived because you refuse to aknowledge anything but the written word).
The Loporrits see Etheirys itself, they experience it's corners and valleys and learn what love can really be. They want to save it, truly save it, because they love and this time it's informed, it's personal(I love you, I love you, and I want you to know I love your loves too).
In Garlemald everything is slow, unsteady and complicated, but it's changing. They're changing. With every person who accepts help the illusion of supremacy and "purity" melts away just a bit, and the wall standing between them and us breaks a little(it will never vanish completely, years upon years of oppression and subjugation and conquest don't disappear like that, but it's a start).
Shadobringers is about learning how to live, but Endwalker is about learning how to love life.

Ladies and gentlemen: the time has come once again! After yet another long winter’s time of gathering resources - And now sponsoring the illustrious Etheirys Blitzball League - the Higuri Regalia is proud to announce the return of the “Regalia Largesse” - marking its seventh occurrence!
For those unaware or uninitiated: The Regalia Largesse is an annual event spanning anywhere between 5-7 days that occurs around the late spring/early summer, and is considered the “pinnacle of Noblesse Oblige”!
During this event, individuals from the Higuri Regalia’s hierarchy will make appearances within the various city-states to offer wares to the adventuring public - FOR FREE (Tips and donations are always greatly appreciated, but never mandatory)!
On Sunday, June 16th, at around 7PM EDT, look for a Party Finder ad from any one of the Regalia members; they will provide you information on where they are, and what items will be offered, with a detailed list of what’s available while supplies last.   Due to the ever-increasing quantity of wares, their post  duration has been extended to three hours. All locations take place on the Balmung World in the Crystal Data Center.
Also, throughout the week, starting at the commencement of the Largesse, those who are willing to partake in a special contest will receive a number.  On last day of that week (i.e. the end of  the Largesse), a raffle will take place where a series of numbers will be drawn, and those who win will be offered prizes!
RULES:
*To enter the raffle, simply ask the representative currently posted during that day; a tracker is kept throughout the course of the event, and is  shared amongst the Regalia members.
You MUST attend the final day of the Largesse in order to qualify for a chance to win.
In the event you are unable to attend the raffle for any reason, you are allowed 1 proxy to vouch for you, so long as they state whom they are  replacing.
If your number happens to be drawn, you are offered a chance to decline a particular prize if you have eyes on another, but a winner will be decided for the sake of fairness.
*IMPORTANT: IN LIGHT OF CHANGES TO THE MOG STATION, AND AS AN ADDITION TO THE FIRST RULE: YOU WILL RECEIVE A FRIEND REQUEST FROM THE REGALIA MEMBER DURING THEIR POST.  SHOULD ANY WINNERS RECEIVE AN ITEM FROM THE MOG STATION AND DO NOT YET MEET THE 72-HOUR GRACE PERIOD, THEY MUST WAIT UNTIL THAT IS CLEARED BEFORE RECEIVING IT.
Notes: Sprouts (New Players/Adventurers) will receive Flying Beds and/or attire Coffers as a consolation gift.
The prize list includes the following, and are subject to change:
1st Place Winners: A Chrysomallos Horn/Magitek Avenger G1 Identification Key/Gilded Mikoshi Horn/Golden Ronkan Flute! (x3 each; 6 winners)
2nd Place Winners: An Island Adenium Whistle/Island Peerifool Whistle/Quaqua Horn/Sabotender De La Luna Whistle! (x2 each; 8 winners)
3rd Place Winners: An item (or items) from the Mog Station worth ≤$35!  (5 winners)

Whether you're a newly-dubbed fan of the sport, or a longtime supporter, show love for your favorite team by acquiring one of their "team exclusives"! (NOTE: You're only allowed a maximum two items: one from any one team in either Conference. ELANDERVIER AUCLAIR
Nicknames: El. Age: Mid-to-late forties. I tend to play fast and loose with character ages unless specifics in the story necessitate it. Nameday: First Sun of the First Astral Moon (once again, you can see I care a lot™ about the birthdays of my characters). Race: Duskwight Elezen. Gender: Cis female. Orientation: You're implying El cares enough to think about it. She's probably somewhere in the sex-positive grey ace/demisexual camp, but let her own lack of consideration speak volumes as to its authenticity. Profession: Bog-Witch of the Northern Wilds, heretic and retainer to Firelight Trading Company. I imagine there's some kind of mythos around her as being a daemon that eats babies, but I'm hesitant to subscribe any real-world language to it.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS
Hair: Long, wavy and jet black. Eyes: Amaranthine, though her consort with the void has warped the iris. it is possible to make out some kind of sigil when standing close enough. Skin: Silvery with pale undertones. Tattoos/Scars: Ink-dark tattoos permeate every inch of skin aside from her face, though it's hard to know if they were done by a needle or magic. Gothic in nature, their elegance hides a number of symbols that imbue her with power.
FAMILY
Parents: Lord and Lady Auclair were of middling importance and their deaths did not leave an imprint upon Ishgardian society. Elandervier rarely, if ever, speaks of them. She considers her father a spineless coward and her mother a reprobate and a narcissist. Knowing they were left destitute after her actions brought her a macabre sense of glee considering they were willing to forsake her for their own comforts. Siblings: Her mother claimed she cursed her womb. El replied the insinuation gave her comfort and walked away clawed at the cheek. Grandparents: Unimportant. The only connection she has to her lineage is down the line to old Gelmorra where she believes her family had prestige. Others: Elandervier used to be in control of a cabal of voidsent accumulated from her various bargains, deals and trades. One of the few pacts kept after her assimilation to Firelight Trading Company was a voidsent by the name of Gobnip. Gobnip presents himself as an opinionated baby Ahriman who is 'contractually obligated to say all the things Elandervier won't'. Do not be fooled, however. With the right amount of aether, he can reveal his true nature.
While the witch is on retainer to Firelight Trading Company, she holds no allegiance to them proper. The only person she actively obeys is its patriarch, Rexonus; one of the first people she met on her defection from The Holy See, and one of the first people willingly abandoned when her confliction emotions around him and her birth-city came to a head. They kept in touch via occasional letters as she set up shop in the Forelands, and he rushed to her side when the blasphemy's rampage through Etheirys put her life and soul at risk. She made a pact with him, the closest language to love she understands, and uses her pragmatics and knowledge of dark magic whenever it is called upon.
She's not ignorant to the fact he has multiple lovers, she simply does not care. El holds all of them at arms reach, respectable and cooperative when she has to work collaboratively, but otherwise holds no great desire to get to know them. She's friendliest with @riftdancing's Blink due to their similar traits, but even so wouldn't necessarily call her a friend.
The person she has the most complicated feelings towards is Alaice. I won't go too in-depth into why, because it could be a whole post on its own, but it's something about being a mirror and an antithesis for her; of being so similar and diverting so extremely. Alaice is everything El abhorrers and wishes she could be, she hates her and loves her in turn, she finds her futilely weak and unfathomably strong — and she doesn't know where to put those emotions. I always write the two with an undertone of homoeroticism because I can, but also because 'love is consumption' underpins a lot of El's characterisation and it's TASTY to explore. Aka, cannibalism as a metaphor for sapphic love, vampiric 'penetration' being inherently queer, so on and so forth.
SKILLS
Abilities: Mastery over dark magic including thaumaturgy, summoning (voidsent), communion, possession, warding, etc. Midwifery. El's mother trained her as part of their family traditions and the hope her skills would elevate her as a trusted member of Ishgard high society. Even when defected, desperate women would make the long trek to Anyx Trine for fear of retribution from the Church/High Houses, and she would perform these services despite her hatred of Ishgard/Ishgardians. This is where a lot of the 'baby eater' rumours/myths originate from, as El would also perform abortions where suitable. Mostly this entailed the transference of aether from a non-viable foetus to a viable one — something the men of the gentry did not complain about when it benefited their sons (how odd)! However, El would always defer to what the women wanted over the demands of their husbands, even if this was done in secret. Hobbies: Studying the history of Gelmorra and it's traditions; foraging for herbs, mushrooms, moss and other things for potions and spells; simmering in pools of water and occasionally turning into slime.
TRAITS
Most positive trait: Elandervier is pragmatic. Above all else, she will contemplate and weigh her choices against any and all outcomes and select the most advantageous result. This may not be the easiest path, either. She is not afraid of tough decisions and hard work. Worst negative trait: She's spiteful. She's petty. She wants to make people suffer as she has suffered. Her moral compass is misaligned at best, deadly at worst, and she doesn't care for consequence. She's not a good person despite doing a few good things and she doesn't want to be.
LIKES
Colours: Black, green, purple and red. Smells: Anything earthy. Peat moss, freshy-turned earth and the scent of rain. The rust of blood. That smell you get when you get too close to a fire and you swear it's singeing your nose hairs. Textures: El is at home with anything that other people find revolting; slimy, spiny, soggy, etc. Drinks: Though partial to a red, El will drink anything. She can't afford to be picky when out in the middle of nowhere.
OTHER DETAILS
Smokes: When in Firelight Trading Company, yes. Tobacco is hard to come by otherwise, so she ends up quitting by proxy. Drinks: When she can. Guests often elected to bring her 'offerings' when in need of their services. She wasn't one to complain. Drugs: This one is tricky. I feel like things like hallucinogenic mushrooms and the like were probably an occasional indulgence, and she's a potions/medicine master of some renown. However, drugs as this sheet implies? No. Mount Issuance: If Gobnip is big enough she will ride him. :) Been Arrested: Good luck! Many have tried and failed!
Tagged by: @lilbittymonster — at least for this one! I'm going to try and do one character per tag. Tagging: @humblemooncat, @chainsofaether, @blackestnight, @mmorpg-escapism, @cadrenebula, @ascendedhypothesis, @ishgard & @allyennah! "The ancestors of the Xaela believed their veins to run thick with the blood of Nhaama—their lustrous black scales and fiery wills serving as proof of this divine lineage."
I like that Menphina is here to spread unconditional love to the children of Etheirys.

With the advent of the benchmark and the information that's given us in way of textures, models, and materials: This is going to be the final experiment with this specific body texture before Dawntrail. If I can help it I'm going to be directing my efforts to making a new texture entirely, hopefully one that's completely custom made.

Fullbody + Kinda shitty closeup under cut lol (also very scattered and chaotic exposition)

So why this design? Well the short answer is that Seiei is a monster/demon. Even in early drafts of her lore she fell to corruption and had her entire being changed irrevocably.
The long answer is given both the nature of her being, her past, and the area she lived in I wanted to try and draw upon specific themes she has when designing this more beastial form to get a more truly finalized picture of this character.
The biggest themes being Corvids, Emotions (namely rage), Tengu, and the final player that spurred the decision to add scales: Alatreon (yes, from monster hunter). Going in reverse order to explain starting with Alatreon; it was the final piece of the puzzle as every aspect of it fits Seiei nearly to a T with a short blurb of it stating: "Known as a symbol of destruction, people fear even uttering its name. It’s rumored to control all of the elements, but most, if not all, records of its existence have been burned." Going hand in hand with much of what is stated in this writing I posted a while ago. This on top of the fact that when fighting, Alatreon is inherently chaotic and easily enraged, much like Seiei.//
Given the area that Seiei is from—that being Doma—Tengu seemed to fit the bill as well. The decision to include this only reinforced by Swallows Compass.
There is significantly more to unpack here than with Alatreon as well as some still loose ends but the main reasons Tengu play into her design are because they are often depicted as yokai, sometimes even 'evil spirits.' In art and media they are portrayed very commonly with avian characteristics which ties into the whole Corvid thing. I could very well argue that the evolution from Corvids to Tengu is due to her corruption twisting that aspect of her into something monstrous. Oh and the big nose...
But more than that there, are a few stories that portray Tengu as legendary martialists that can employ extremely powerful and dangerous magics, which Seiei has in the form of her prior kenjutsu training and "black smoke". And yes, keeping with typical depictions, she does also have a feather fan, but I'm not sure I've really ever posted her with it.//
Emotions, specifically rage, was the baseline theming for her when I was drafting up her original lore (that needs heavy refinement now but I'll worry about that later). As one might guess this also hooks into 'Dynamis'. You see; Seiei was created shortly after I'd finished Endwalkers MSQ and the idea of "Dynamis" was still fresh in my head. Specifically it's observed ability to spiral out of control (much like real emotion) and create horrid abominations that the people of etheirys do not understand (Much like how rage causes people to do things they otherwise wouldn't with no sound logic behind it).
I'd never been invested in FF's magic system until this point either as it seemed very straight forward and bland to me even with astral and umbral alignments. But with the introduction of Dynamis as the sort of 'antithesis' to Aether I was locked in. My mind had interpreted it as a sort of matter vs anti-matter type of deal given that where one is abundant the other is near absent and they do not generally play well together, so naturally I wanted to try and explore that avenue more.
It was difficult trying to figure out how to get a character to reasonably function with Dynamis at first, especially with her lore being from pre-arr. However, if you know about "The Burn" and it's alleged lack of Aether, one needn't stretch very far to see how Dynamis could have affected Seiei. Or really any character from Othard. I'd love to do a real deep-dive into this at some point but for now you get my very scattered and very raw exposition.
As a sorta related aside, this was all thought up during a very difficult time in my life. So in a way this character started out as 'vent art' to release pent up emotion.//
Anyone who's been around a while knows Seiei's original last name was 'Warcrow'. When I'd made the character at first this had literally zero meaning outside of "I like bird :) " but as time went on I started to see where it could fit.
Without going into an insane amount of detail though because I'm sleepy: The crow motif is more closely tied to her adoptive father (The bunny man) who was exceptionally clever and tricky much like crows are. However, when he had passed our Seiei inherited much of what made him who he was and subsequently twisted it (cannot emphasis enough how much I love corruption). As a result for our Seiei, the meaning of crows is no longer relates to their intelligence or trickery but their more superstitious interpretations of approaching disaster and death. Also because I like the bird and it goes hand in hand with the Tengu thing lol.//

The 1 Other Thing I Wanted From Panda's Finale
We finally got the Heart of Sabik and why that chunk of black auracite was such a pain in the rear for so long. But we also got the other thing I'd wanted from that...
Themis: Elidibus's soul was plucked from the aetherial sea, and from it I was wrought. Surely you have a passing interest in what I remember. In what I feel… Themis: You deserve what answers I can provide. While my memories of Pandæmonium are clear, all else is...hazy at best. Themis: Perhaps Athena made me this way, or...perhaps it is the result of who or what I was before. Themis: Still, I can recall vague figures. Scenes from my future, and your past… Themis: At the Crystal Tower's peak we clash. And later, from that selfsame spire, I send you forth... Themis: Into our age. Into Elpis. Themis: Why do I decide on such a course? Formless as these images are, I cannot say... Themis: ...However, I can hazard a guess. Themis: Somewhere within my fragmented memories, I catch a glimpse of our journey into Pandæmonium. Themis: A glimpse which shows not the path we took or the destination where it led us, yet by its very presence demands that you are required in Elpis. Themis: And even if that act is but one link in the chain of events which ends in Etheirys's salvation... Themis: Then this all has meaning. Our time together─every moment─is worthwhile... Themis: ...and I am unburdened by regret. Themis: That said, it is possible my motivations become something else entirely. Themis: That you would cross this vast expanse in the hopes of being reunited with your allies… Themis: A devotion that once would have baffled me. But after having been to the depths of that twisted prison and back, I think I can understand. Themis: Now, I have pulled back the curtain as far as I dare.
Hydaelyn brought Elidibus back to the Source too. I couldn't imagine Her leaving him in the First, after She'd brought back Minfilia and Emet-Selch; his final monologue to his counterpart heart struck me as simply a part of a conversation we didn't get to hear the rest of.
Themis's memories of Elidibus are still fractured, as to be expected, but combined with his younger memories from the crystal, he can figure himself out and give the WoL one last reassurance, as our friend and ally, before joining his loved ones in the Aetherial Sea to be washed clean and eventually reborn, his duty complete.
Pandaemonium gave us fuller characterization of the other two unsundered--Lahabrea especially needed a revisit in my opinion, given his role as the earliest of our enemies during the less certain writing of ARR and HW, and Elidibus's mystery was always off to the side, until he unraveled entirely with the loss of his brothers.
So overall, I rather liked the raid story, as it neatly wraps up not only the Ancients, but our eternal frenemies the unsundered Ascians, and the complex, tragic figures they were.

Lelesu Lesu
Nicknames: Lele (but only if you're Corrain or Hythlodaeus)
Age: 27 during Endwalker
Birthday: uhhhhhh. 32nd sun of the first astral moon? i think? i'd have to open the game to check tbh
Race: Dunefolk Lalafell
Gender: cis female, though she's not particularly fussed about gender and wouldn't really argue being gendered other ways
Orientation: some flavor of greyromantic, exclusively attracted to men when she is, some flavor of ace spectrum, sex-favorable
Profession: Warrior of Light, Scion of the Seventh Dawn responsible for Ishgard (quietly), and on the rare occasion, guest instructor for the Temple Knights
Physical Aspects
Hair: long, black, kinky curls, with a light green dye in the ends
Eyes: dark purple. the right one used to be paler and now is solid silver from scarring
Skin: dark brown with warm undertones
Tattoos/Scars: some various minor scarring across her body, a large scar across her chest/abdomen; small thin scar across her right cheek/lips; scarring around her right eye. dragon tattoo along the left side of her face
Family
Parents: her biological parents are Ul'dahn merchant-nobles who own a mine of some kind in Thanalan. she's never been close with them and no longer particularly considers them her parents; instead, the closest thing she has to a father-figure is Edmont de Fortemps, who she has been very close with since early HW but especially once Haurchefant died
Siblings: Artoirel de Fortemps, via swearing brotherhood, which means that by technicality Emmanellain is also her brother. she's not as close with him as she is with Artoirel but she does care for both of them quite a bit. in universes where they're both there, she also considers Corrain to be her little brother and will sometimes refer to him as such
Grandparents: not really relevant
Others: her partners are Aymeric, Hythlodaeus, and Emet-Selch - post-EW she and Aymeric get engaged, and she has some kind of nebulous queerplatonic Thing going on with Hyth and Emet that is not fully defined.
Skills
Abilities: the red mage and sage skill trees, a solid grasp on conjury and some basic white mage skills (which she no longer uses), some of the early marauder skills. formal manners - she was raised among nobility - and some business management skills (Ul'dahn). basic needlework skills, a necessity for adventurers, and a solid grasp on survival skills
Hobbies: reading everything about magic she can get her hands on. swimming - she didn't have much opportunity to in Ul'dah and now takes every chance she can get. post-endwalker she's taken to trying to find a way to bring creation magicks properly back into the current-day star - yes, this is a hobby for her. possibly fishing? (these are still in development. partly because she is very duty-focused and has kept quiet about her hobbies.)
Traits
Most positive trait: her determination and dedication to her duty. between this and her kindness, which together alongside her love for Etheirys and its people are what keep her on the heroic path, even when she wants to falter.
Worst negative trait: probably a tossup between her tendency to wallow in guilt/failure and how she handles grief, which is poorly - she also has some struggles with anger that tend to get very out of hand when she's dealing with loss, which is what led her to pursuing a revenge quest against Thordan VII
Likes
Colors: reds, purples, blues
Smells: fresh bread, petrichor, pine trees, leather oil
Textures: anything soft and fuzzy, feathers, sand (both wet and dry; yes she loves the beach. yes she's a little insane)
Drinks: hot chocolate (though it reminds her of Haurchefant every time she drinks it now), coffee, chai
Other Details
Smokes: no.
Drinks: yes, on occasion, though she rarely goes beyond tipsy, and then only in the company of those she trusts absolutely
Drugs: nope
Mount Issuance: prior to endwalker, she basically exclusively used the black chocobo Hauchefant gave her, which also happens to be the chocobo she learned to ride on. post-endwalker, however, she usually flies around on Argos, though she'll use her chocobo when it's....uh, not necessarily appropriate to be riding around on a glowy golden dog from thirteen thousand years ago that can fly
Been Arrested: does being almost-deported in Sharlayan count? and there was the bloody banquet....

⤹˚˖♬୭ Character Theme(s) - Oli ୭♬˖˚⤹
I got tagged in this meme the other day by the awesome ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗ @aethericfist ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗ (whose indecision I find very relatable! c': ) tsym for tagging me, I love to share tunes! c:
As a result, please enjoy a small selection of Oli vibes with a little explanation behind each! (I tried to pick tunes I haven't mentioned in other memes already!)
Tumblr media
Vitriol - Bluejuice Maybe it's my Australian showing but Bluejuice slap. Also this song is peak Oli advice tbh. You can put yourself to use is a very Oliviede sentiment. So is fuck the world and what everybody's saying c':
youtube
Black Market Blood - Placebo If you've ever (kindly) listened to me ramble about the blorbettes a little bit, you'll already know that I've stamped out past lives for the two of them throughout Hydaelyn's history and Etheirys pre-sundering. If not, hey, now you know! Anyway, this song makes me thing very specifically of who Oliviede was during her previous life in the time of Amdapor, (her name was Lorea back then.) This song could almost be like a brief synopsis of how things went for her in those days. (Spoiler: they did not go well c': )
youtube
Bury Me Low - 8 Graves Behind all that staunch morality, Oliviede is actually quite cynical. Her "such is life" attitude verges toward total nihilism on quite a lot of topics. Mostly the only thing that keeps her from crossing the border is people can be nice, and it doesn't really matter if that's meaningless in the grand scheme of the universe, it's meaningful enough if it means something to her. But still, if you ask Oli, life is just a series of happy and unhappy accidents we don't actually have any control over. We just experience them as they come until eventually, for one reason or another, we stop experiencing. Oli thinks about that fact on the reg, and her reaction to that fundamental truth informs all of her decisions has been very formative in shaping her character.
youtube
I Need A Forest Fire - James Blake ft Bon Iver Another track that reminds me of Oliviede's past life as Lorea in Amdapor. I could ramble a bit about Lorea and her bad end and how that impacts Oliviede's personality in the current time line. But I won't because I'm shy, instead I'll just say the pleading nature and somewhat haunting melody of this song encapsulate Lorea very well. c':
youtube
Bloodflood - ∆ Alt J Truly this song has maximum Oli vibes for lots of reasons. Sure, it's true, every time a song mentions blood I low key go 'oh yay an Oli song' but also, in this specific case, I feel the way it conveys the out of body experience of high adrenaline and impending fisticuffs fits her very well seeing as she does sometimes suffer from a case of 'punch first and think later'.
youtube
I think it's really fun watching these tag memes evolve a little bit as they roll around the community!
Tagging my wonderful husband ㅤᵕ̈♡☁︎⋆。˚ @reconditerune as well as all of these beans: @angelinecarax, @aislingsurrow, @chadhunkler, @eris-vito (for either of your blorbaes!), @luck-and-larceny and @hydaelyns-bitch ㅤᵕ̈♡☁︎⋆。˚
Plus, tagging anyone else who wants to join in! ♡ Give me all the OC soundtracks plz! ♡

name: Aletheia ("Theia") race: Hyur Midlander age: 28 pronouns: she/her job: Black Mage (with a dash of Dark Knight on the side. Possibly Reaper down the road as well.) orientation: pansexual wolship: Emet-Selch, Elidibus (one-sided) about: Born on the Source, but raised in the rift between worlds, Aletheia - or just Theia to those close to her - was brought up into the clandestine world of the Ascians, her early years steeped in secrecy and indoctrination, her loyalty to Zodiark and the Ascian cause unwavering. Her and her parents worked closely with the Emissary, acting as his eyes and ears on the Source when his presence was needed elsewhere. She spent much of her young life watching the people of Etheirys from a distance, until she was tasked during the Seventh Umbral Era to investigate the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
Little did she know that her entire life would change, and everything she ever knew would be turned on its head.
Little did she know that the young girl raised in darkness would turn out to be the Warrior of Light.
personality: Theia is a reserved and enigmatic individual, often appearing cold and distant to those around her. Beneath her stoic exterior lies a deeply troubled soul, grappling with the weight of conflicting loyalties and the struggle to discern right from wrong. Frustrated by the blurred lines of morality that shape her world, she walks a precarious tightrope between light and darkness, her path obscured by shadows of doubt and uncertainty. Despite her moral ambiguity, Theia harbors a fierce determination to uncover the truth and forge her own destiny, no matter the cost.

I wanted to formally introduce my newest WoL! I've been having fun brainstorming ideas for her, so expect to see some writing for her soon-ish <3

Think what I enjoy about Primals is that there is this sense of wrongness in their being in canon. Their assumed divinity is something not immediately said to be a good thing. They are summoned through excess aether gathering via crystals, spent to conjure them into being with the unite prayer of their people. And their existing for longer than a finite period of time causes the world to be less for it and begin to bleach as the Burn did. Even benign deities like, arguably, Ramuh and the Twelve are just hording massive reserves of aether that eventually will cause their people harm. The Twelve willingly returning to the aetherstream because of their love for mortality and seeing that the use of the Mothercrystal, the summoning of multiple primals to power the Ragnarok to send us off to Ultima Thule and the calamities Etheirys has suffered in eras past. Leaves the aetherstream anemic if not harshly depleted and so the Twelve return their massive reserves of aether back into the world by fighting us and then sacrificing themselves to return it.
But, to be in the presence of these deities even those who are not coded to temper their people, leads to the world being worst off than it had initially. It gives them all this "flying too close to the sun vibe" and before the whole "Oh, tempering was just part of the Ascian software handed off to people." was revealed. It felt like the Gods were just as corruptive an influence as the Ascian's machinations. The Ascian existing, initially, as black mages who had twisted their powers to grant them immortality and destructive powers and to combat them and the Empire. The Tribes of the world summon their gods, who would corrupt, twist, and pollute their very existence into abominable forms echoing their own primal's in malignant ways. Until their worshipers were unrecognizable or even cognitive outside of their primals will after a time.
There is something so eldritch about their beings. Summoning a Primal from beyond the realm of understanding. And it will eventually destroy the very civilizations it was created to save. Burn the wax off your wings and fall back to the ground to your death. Become addicted to their influence and never come back. Look upon their forms and go mad with the knowledge they gift unto you and twist into their own soldiers who work only now to sustain them endlessly.

WoLchefant Alt Timeline Primer
Tumblr media
This is the sad alt timeline where Meteor dies at The Vault, Haurchefant's Echo is awakened, and he chooses to lay down the Fortemps colors and take up instead the mantle of the Warrior of Light. He is a knight who serves all of Eorzea (and, eventually, Etheirys and her reflections). He carries an unadorned shield and bears armor the color of tarnished silver, symbolic of his grief and failure to protect a close friend. But grief will not stop him! Black, the color of tarnished silver. Black, the color of mourning. Black, the color of a shield with no sigil, because the mantle he must don is that of a cause higher than any other. A knight of Eorzea and Hydaelyn, not merely of House Fortemps. The Warrior of Light’s cause need not die with him!
Tumblr media
It is Zephirin’s spear against this blood-red sky that finally awakens the Echo within Haurchefant… right before it cleaves through Meteor’s breastplate.
My posts about this AU will all be tagged with #wolchefant alt timeline for easy tracking! The posts may contain spoilers all the way through current content (6.3 as of posting this) and I will do my best to tag them accordingly. You can also find them here on Twitter, but I can no longer update that collection since the Moments feature has been retired.

10, 20, 28? the ganmachine
10. How do they feel about their relationship with Hydaelin? Midgarsormr?
Oh man you don't know what you're getting yourself into because there is. Heaps of heaps of lore that I just come up with genuinely sorry if it's too much
Like "5 google doc pages big" SPEAKING OF WHICH if reading this stuff in Google here's the LINK:
Ohhhghghghh both of my WoLs have an insanely complicated relationship with Hydaelyn that becomes way better in Endwalker.
But beginning is beginning and like.
Gan comes from a fucked up tribe of Black Mages and masters of Dark Arts where their khatun Lena is basically a Mhach mage that escaped the Void Ark tragedy by teleportation magic and time travel shenanigans (she attempted to travel between shards, but got stuck in a space in-between and when she came back to the Source a couple hundred years already passed and Void Ark was nowhere to be seen).
So she assimilated herself into a xaela woman and either coerced or forced talented mages to join her emo band newfounded tribe.
And she shaped the tribe to be extremely hostile to anything resembling magic of Light because of course she, the Mhachi mage, would. She was maintaining her immortal rule by possessing the bodies of children of her close Archmage circle and using advanced dark arts.
Then Lena, to her surprise, secretly and genuinely fell in love with Just A Guy and Gan was born.
Lena was arrogant and a little bit stupid, so she was pumping herself with Black Aether. The plan was to basically use her own child this time to prolong her immortality. And only because Hydaelyn gave Gan the blessing, Gan didn't turn into a voidsent and didn't do the 1979 Alien Chestburster on her mother.
So Lena got the baby, but the baby had a very high attunity to Light aether, which would make for a poor host.
So she decided to be world's first immortal deadbeat mother and just left Gan to her lover and left him on read.
That being said, rumors still spread that Gan was a potential bastard child and a Light-blessed idiot which made her ostracized in already pretty hostile clan.
So when Gan came to Eorzea and realized she's light-blessed and by someone else's God to boot she was PISSED (only the khatun and voidsent held status of deities in the Magan tribe). She used it because being a Warrior of Light gave her purpose and an easy way to be accepted in a land completely foreign to her + get more privileged position than she was in and not be shunned anymore (in Gan's head pretty much if you're Cream of the Crop then you're safe from harrassment because of harsh hierarchy of her tribe).
I think Gan accepted Light as also part of themselves long before they met Venat, but a lot of it was them unlearning self-hatred and learning to accept themselves. And meeting Venat didn't turn their world upside-down, but it pretty much cemented in the fact that “Yeah it's not bad that I'm like this. I am good as I am”.
Tumblr media
Have a bonus sketch of Gan’s parents, I guess. The guy on the right is way sweeter than he actually looks and he’s never treated Gan with anything but kindness, care and patience.
Regarding Midgarsormr... Well there's like a huge chunk of Gan Azem lore that Tumblr specifically missed and I have to preface it with whatever I'm about to say.
Gan and Alma's predecessors, Phobos and Anteros, were two halves of one planet-eating creature, Jörmungandr, initially, until Venat met them and made a sort of prototype sundering so Jormie could experience being human and forget the emotions of the planets it consumed: grief, pain, unfulfilled dreams and joy and so on and so forth. Jörmungandr wasn't a dragon, it was just some messed up snake creature that was floating in space until it stumbled upon Etheirys, attempted to eat it and Venat through conversation invoked personality that the creature was repressing this entire time because it had like no one else to show it to? So it never really mattered to it.
Tumblr media
WIP concept of Jormie that I did.
Tumblr media
Jörmungandr shapeshifting to be able to communicate with Venat (took them around a month to achieve this form).
And I think the fact that Gan immediately took a great liking to dragons and peepaw Midgarsormr  both stems from the fact that she was, for the longest time, just like they are, the outsider. Someone who people didn't want to do anything with and had reservations about.
But also I feel like apart from that it's very much the fact that parts of Jörmungandr 's experience still dwells within Gan and there's this subconscious feeling that Gan wouldn't know about for a LONG time until like post-Endwalker that's basically ”Oh. Hey. We're both space travelers and aliens to this place. We should stick together“ and so on and so forth. Like a magnetic pull sort of feel.
And honestly considering Gan's initially complicated stance on Hydaelyn they were kind of happy that Midgarsormr stripped them of their blessing for some time. They were more than eager to prove themselves worthy in spite of it, because their self-esteem hinged on it greatly.
Now they're chilling.
20. Of all the places they've been to, which is their favorite? Do they like to go back there?
ISHGARDDDD BABYYYYYY IT'S ALWAYS ZENITH IT'S ALWAYS FORTEMPS MANOR YOU KNOW IT those are the first places where Gan truly felt accepted and at home.
28. Were they suspicious or open to Emet-Selch's presence when he first appeared?
Oh you fucking bet they didn't like Emet but since Gan is very reserved they didn't say anything outright malicious to him while still holding the grip on their rapier. But I think hostilities escalated in-between them over the story and after Gan found out that Phobos, their Azem self, used to be his apprentice and used to be very much miserable. It was like. ”You miserable fucking asshole, it seems by some sort of twisted karma I'm stuck with people who don't know how to be normal parents“. It never truly becomes sunshine and rainbows between them for obvious reasons, but Gan does give him the satisfaction in Endwalker of forgiving him on behalf of Phobos.
