“I remember thinking, I could never go on a quest like that. Because I'm not clean. I mean, I was just a little kid. But you think maybe I knew? I mean, deep down, that I had demon blood in me, and about the evil of it, and that I’m - wasn't pure?” (8x21)

I could probably rant about how Sam deserved better and he is one of the characters that honestly did no wrong and I stand by this statement

Spn 4.01 review on Serialized.
An iconic opening to what begins the 2 best seasons of Supernatural. I really cherished the first and last time I heard Dean say to Sam, "I believe you," as it'll never come again. Also, the introduction to Castiel remains one of the coolest in the series. I love the subplot with Ruby and Sam getting to explore his powers. His desire to use them for good makes my heart ache. I wish it were that simple. My one complaint is how awful Sam's shirt is in this ep, but it was the early 2000s so I can forgive it, I guess.

No, I wish, but… We don’t see things the same way anymore - our roles in this whole thing. Back in that church, talking me out of boarding up hell? Or tricking me into letting Gadreel possess me? I can’t trust you - not the way I thought I could, not the way I should be able to.

Sam’s character deserved so much better. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed what we did get to see in the show.
It’s just that there were so many storylines of his that had so much freaking potential that they just decided to drop because it was to “complex”, they wanted more angst, or just wanted to give it to some other character one way or another.
What I’ve always loved about his storylines was the potential to make them more then one season long. An example of course being the Special Children/Demon blood story line. However, even that one could’ve been explored even more. Then while it’s essentially his ‘main’ storyline for 1/3 of the entire show, it never really gets completed. Well to me that’s how it is. Especially since his demon blood isn’t really mentioned after season 5 and holds no significant value to the rest of the 10 seasons. Did it affect him a lot? Yes. Did it affect relationships? Yes. Was there any repercussions from drinking gallons of demon blood even when Cas had said that amount could change him for ever in season 4? No.
Then there’s the breaking of the wall and the fact that Hallucifer is essentially shown as comedy relief in a way (I’m aware that Hallucifer is a warped manifestation of Sam’s memory and traumas of the cage). There was a missed opportunity to show how Sam’s time in the cage really affected him. Instead they kind of minimized it, until 7x17 where they thought hey that’s enough attention on Sam’s mental health! And boom Cas came and just magic it away because you can totally do that to severe PTSD 😃. After that they just kind of forgot about it... though at least the actor made sure Sam had hyper vigilance to show for it I guess.
I could honestly rant more, but I have like homework to do... and this post will be even more long.

Am I missing something?  How is what Dean said to Sam, “protecting” him?  He didn’t tell Sam about the plan because he knew Sam would be pissed and not on board with it. I’m seeing all this talk about Dean protecting him but I saw Dean lying because he knew Sam wouldn’t go along with him.

Hey! I was just wondering if you already have a date for when sign ups will start?
Hey guys! We’ve gotten quite a few questions like this in the last few weeks and we’re excited to say that we are starting to plan out a timeline!
Sorry for the delay, as you all probably know, 2020 has been wild! But we think there’s no better thing to fill the time and preoccupy some restless minds than a big bang!
We’ll be rolling out more info, shortly. Thanks for hanging in there with us through it all and we can’t wait to see what you come up with this year!

“I tried to think of what to do, you know, the next step to take. I was just lost.“ (11x19) This gifset prompted by that line of Dean’s in 2x03 about Sam (aged 12) ‘waiting in the car’ while he and John were in the woods shooting things with crossbows. Just a lot of waiting in Sam’s childhood and a lot of not knowing whether the only people he had in the world were actually alive out there.

Never forget that Sam Winchester chopped the head off the vampire, thinking he saved his brother, only to realize he was fatally injured.

So I just realized that on Serializd you can rate and review every single episode of Supernatural, and since I have been trying to get my bf to watch s1-3 for the last year AND I have tons of live blogs I wrote and perfectly tagged BY EPISODE NUMBER (through 11.08 bc that’s when I quit) at my fingertips, I could ABSOLUTELY do that this year.
👀
So I think I might.
If I endeavor to do this ENORMOUS task, I will share here as I go. ALSO, I will live blog the new episodes I watch that I’ve never seen before (11.09ish to whatever the episode is before the series finale).
WOW this is a lot but I am EXCITE. (Also I used to write and engage with SO much Spn meta, find that here.)
This used to be a Spn blog, did you know? 😂

More about 15x02
Didn’t put this in the main post because it contains bashing of Dean.
Was I the only one who was a bit taken aback by the Dean and Cas scene? I mean, Dean was all angry, which was expected because it’s Dean and he’s always angry about something. Then he started talking about God and the whole situation, and yeah, he’s got the right to be angry.
Still not a reason to take it out on Sam or Cas though.
But then Cas started to apologise. I had to actually pause and try to think back to last season, ‘cause I couldn’t remember Cas doing anything bad.
Then they mentioned Mary and Jack.
Okay sure, Cas should have mentioned the situation to the Winchesters. But he was trying to protect his son. From Dean. Who has multiple times shown not just willingness, but enthusiasm to kill Jack.
Ya bet Cas did the right choice
‘Cause what did Dean do when he learned about it? He tricked Jack, locked him away then planned ways to kill him. Even though he supposedly had accepted him as their son.
Yeah right.
(And yes, Sam helped, which was wrong and I’m really mad about, but at least he was reticent)
But now Cas is apologising. For trying to keep Jack away from his would-be murderer.
But did Dean apologise?
Did he at least go ‘Hey man, it was a shitty situation, I was trying to do good, sorry for hurting/almost killing your son?’
Nope
God forbid Dean ever admits he’s wrong. And when he does, half the time it’s for the wrong things and he just piles guilt upon himself. He doesn’t try to make amends by listening to others, to try and help the people he wronged. Just piles guilt on himself so he can feel like a martyr.
Hey Dean! Admitting guilt is just the first step, you know. Then you have to apologize and actually fix things
Don’t know how? Ask Sam. He’s an expert, having to do his share and yours all the time.
(Then apologise to him too, and ask him how to fix things between you two next time you fight. You owe him this)

And every other bad thing we’ve been killing? Been dying over? Where were you? Just sitting back and watching us suffer? So we can do this over, and over, and over again? Fighting, losing people we love? When does it end? Tell me!
