Cat sleeping on the table? No problem. Nikolai isn’t the slightest bit bothered by Biellmann taking a nap while he eats breakfast.

Boris: If he’s calling the vet, I swear to Cat…

Nikolai: Hello? I’d like to schedule an appointment for Biellmann, Butterfly and Boris Pavlenko, please, Yes, regular checkup for all three, and we’d like to speak to the veterinarian about having Boris neutered, now that he’s fully grown.

Boris: Oh, he’s gonna be toast. I’m plotting vengeance even as we speak.

Mishka loves the cats, but he’s also a neat freak and isn’t thrilled that Nikolai allows them to go literally everywhere. He especially dislikes them being on the kitchen counters and the table, and it’s a source of friction between him and Nikolai.

Mishka: I thought we agreed the cats aren't allowed on the table? You might not care about cat hair on your plate, but I'm tired of cleaning the table multiple times a day.

It seems Nikolai didn't react very well to Mishka's complaints.

This is what it looks like when you're frustrated with your partner but you're also sorry for venting at him.

Yuri on Ice x spirals

Spirals are an element in figure skating wherein one leg is held above hip height while the skater glides on the other. They were previously a required element for women for many years - and for a brief moment, pairs - but men less often do them as well. They are a beloved element for a lot of fans because they can look extremely pretty when done well.

JJ is doing a brief, classic arabesque spiral in a very nice position, with good extension and turnout. Otabek is doing a so-so arabesque spiral on an inside edge, which might have been meant to be a skid spiral (a spiral where the supporting foot does a slow 180 degree turn in the direction the skater is traveling in), although if so they only animated half the turn. Unlike with JJ, his foot is drawn turning down as the spiral goes on, and his leg noticeably bends as he lowers out of it, neither of which are considered aesthetic technique. Yuri in the first gif does a short backwards spiral with high extension as a difficult entrance for his axel. In the second, he does a Biellmann spiral. Biellmann spirals are fairly rare even for women; between the rarity of men’s spirals and the rarity of men who can hit the demanding Biellmann position, they’re almost unheard of for men. Having such a nice one in his program would certainly help Yuri stand out!

Cale, but he ice skates.

I'm going to go in a ramble rn because this idea has been simmering in my brain for a while so-

Like two days after Cale wakes up and realizes he's in a different world he's like, "I'm rich now, I can do whatever tf I want" and decides to teach himself how to figure skate because why not.

First, he has to figure out what to do about the actual ice skates- after a bit of research (and confirming that they don't have skating in this world) he's like- "I'll just commission two blades to a blacksmith"

Then he has to figure out how tf he'll get that on a shoe- using Victorian ice skates for reference, he makes a set of ridiculously detailed blueprints and pays someone to make them- (insert him flopping down on his bed contemplating if this was really worth it [not to mention he's still getting the shield ancient power])

Now he FINALLY has his skates, Yay :D

It's the middle of spring and there is no ice around, fuck :(

Because of plot convenience, there's a potion that kind of costs a lot that can freeze large bodies of water

"Why would anyone ever need this- oh well, works for me"

Then he pays a Mage enough to feed their family for the next two years and is now making frequent visits to a random lake that he found practicing skating around and stuff.

Over time, Cale ends up finding it quite therapeutic and enjoys doing simple tricks.

(After Raon officially joins his party and finds out about his lake visits he's upset Cale hired a mage bc "I'm a great and mighty dragon! You don't need that weak mage! I wouldn't even need to move a finger to take you there- " so Cale has to console an upset toddler and god-damnit I didn't think he'd be so upset-)

Anyways Cale does a pretty good job hiding it from everyone and only when he cuts his hand doing a Biellmann spin (I think that's it's name) and Ron smells the faint blood smell in his room while cleaning does he get caught.

Cale *entering his room with raon*: Ron? What are you..

Ron *holding the skate with the dried blood*: Young master, what is this?

Raon *who forgot that Cale cut his hand because he was distracted*: Ah! Human cut himself while doing his ice-dancing!

Cale *who has to explain what he's been doing*: sigh

Okay anyways Ron asks to see his 'ice dancing' so Cale shows him the move he accidentally cut his hand on (he gets banned from doing this specific move after he cut his hand again) and now Ron is going along with them on their trips to the lake.

As soon as eruhaben finds out about the ice skating the next morning there's a giant frozen lake near the villa but it's summer so how the fu-

A scenario that's also been in my head-

Cale's first time landing a triple axel has him freaking out internally and Raon is also excited so everyone in the Super Rock Villa notices how much happier Cale is the next day and in turn their moods are also lifted.

Another thing you could add is Cale mentioning that he wishes he could do some moves that involve two people then suddenly he has a lot of people asking him to teach them to skate-

Happy Birthday to the most precious and most beautiful Katsudon in anime history!

I wanted to celebrate Yuuri's birthday with something fresh, but lacked the time to come up with an idea, so I'm sharing the one-shot I wrote for his birthday last year. The story starts off a bit sad and angsty, but I promise that it will become cheerful and silly after a while.

Summary:

After another failed attempt at qualifying for the Grand Prix Final, Yuuri returns to Detroit on his birthday, defeated, disheartened, and determined to quit skating. All he wants is to mourn his missed chance to skate on the same ice as his long-time crush and idol in peace. But his roommate Phichit has different plans. For a defeat is no reason to give up on your greatest dream.

"We rarely ever talked because I always put him on such a high pedestal."

Buildings flitted by, veiled behind drifts of snow that came down from monotonous grey heavens and buried the monumental skyline of Detroit under the icing of the first blizzard of the season. Christmas lights defied the murk, where one week ago the facades of shops, office buildings, and tenements had loomed unadorned and naked. The sight held no joy for Yuuri as he gazed out of the window, his mind blank, his heart heavy.

Another attempt. Another failure. Another chance wasted.

The story of the unsensational life of Katsuki Yuuri.

He had moved here to start all over, but so far, thousands of hours of sweat, tears, and bruises had been in vain.

I couldn’t even work up the courage to talk to him.

Images of another figure skater stole into Yuuri’s mind as if they would ever leave for long. His dazzling smile when he greeted his fans and fellow skaters. His immaculate jumps with those swift running edges. His elegant posture that spoke of hours of ballet training. His beautiful twizzles. His flexibility when he pulled up his free leg from a layback position into a tight Biellmann spin as no other male skater could. The effortlessness with which he danced across the ice. The focus in his keen eyes of the blue of a clear winter morning. The way the see-through sleeves of his dark-red costume had emphasised his muscular arms as he had skated to Tango de Roxanne that weekend. The way he swept back his silver-blonde hair that shimmered like starlight.

That one time during warm-up… he was so close I could have touched him.

i'm currently thinking about how one of barton's happiest memories was with a guy named yves, who was just a quote unquote ' normal ' person like a lot of the people in gotham, but who he loved romantically ( though yves would never learn this ) with SUCH a fervor that barton literally learned how to figure skate in hopes that it would impress him — and this was due to the fact that yves himself liked to compete in figure skating competitions / wanted to eventually maybe go to the big leagues ... so, one day, barton invited him to the ice rink and he was literally beaming with happiness because he could not wait to show yves everything that he's learned over the past three or four months and that was quite honestly the most effort he'd ever put into ice-shaking before that he was just as nervous as he was excited. so, everything was going well for a while, but then his nerves finally got to him. and he nearly fell all the way to the ice while trying to do a one-handed biellmann spin ( the move in ice-skating where the skater holds one of their legs above them, holds the edge of their ice skates, and spins in this very tight circle ), though yves caught him just in time and just gave him this smile that said ' i am so proud of you right now. '

and thus, barton didn't agonize over it like he was originally planning to. his heart almost felt like it was melting in his chest, in fact, by how dizzy with love the gesture made him feel. but thing's only got better from there because yves wanted to skate with him even though barton had no idea how to skate with a partner yet... which, resulted in him almost falling quite a bit, but yves didn't seem to mind. it was just the two of them in that moment with nothing but love on both of their sides, even though yves love for him was only platonic, and barton still has dreams about that moment sometimes because of this ( as cheesy as that might sound ). he never did get to tell him a real goodbye before he died, but thinking about it does somewhat make him feel better about it and has given him some much-needed closure.
